Jennifer Lawrence drew a mustache & unibrow on herself for the paps

Jennifer Lawrence

Here are some new photos of Jennifer Lawrence in NYC where she’s been looking for an apartment. She’s reportedly holding herself to a $10,000 per month budget, which sounds like a lot of money. It IS a lot, but it won’t get her a penthouse in Manhattan. The sure thing about JLaw setting up a secondary home base (in addition to her enviable LA digs) in the Big Apple is that she’ll get papped more often. Photogs are harder to avoid without a gated residence and long driveway in a private neighborhood.

Jennifer has definitely been papped a lot lately. We saw her imitating a goofy walrus with chopsticks. Now there are even stranger photos that show JLaw walking around with a scribbled mustache and unibrow. You can see the pictures here. She knew these pictures would end up splashed all over the internet, which is why she pulled an 8th grade move.

Now I’m scratching my head over this behavior. With the chopsticks, I figured she was sloshed and slipped into goofball mode. This face-drawing seems like a beg for attention. Such playfulness is probably her usual behavior behind closed doors, but JLaw has always kept a poker face around the paparazzi. She’ll flip them off (literally and figuratively). Why is she suddenly willing to attract attention from the cameras? Some people think she’s deflecting from the Chris Martin photos where he’s walking arm-in-arm with Kylie Minogue. I’m starting to believe this may be the case.

U can believe he dumped her. She is annoying and immature.

    • Frieda says:

Here comes the J-Law bashing… sigh. Two Friends references (the chopsticks and the scribbled moustache) on two nights as part of some harmless trolling of the paps, and she’s ‘immature’ Give the girl a break – she has a quirky sense of humour, what exactly is the harm in that?

      • Franca says:

There is no harm, but she’s incredibly annoyingand very immature ( and tha’t coming from someone younger than her) .
And she has to be the centre of attention AT ALL TIMES ALWAYS.
So some people dislike her, what’s the harm in that?

I also think she’s very very overrrated as an actress.

      • Gill B says:

Yes, Frieda, spot on! She’s enjoying herself, the paparazzi are delighted, what’s the problem? Being papped constantly must be a surreal situation: I don’t blame her for messing around with them from time to time. And, Franca, of course she’s constantly the centre of attention whether she likes it or not, she’s Jennifer Lawrence…

      • Lolle says:

        @Franca
No. You can dislike her but she’s a very good actress. Every person who knows movies says and knows that

      • Franca says:

        @Lolle
No. Art is subjective. I can find her to be a mediocre actress.
Besides, she’s at the point where critics will praise her no matter how her perfomarmance was. How she got there I don’t know.

      • Lolle says:

        @Franca
“How she got there I don’t know.” with talent and starring in small indie movies. She won awards since Venice Film Festival in 2008 and she was nominated at the Oscar for the first time when she was an unknown actress in a small movie. BTW you’re always in Lawrence’s articles posting bad comments so probably you’re only a pressed troll

      • Franca says:

So did a million other actresses who are not labelled as the best young actress. Her PR worked a lot. She was great in Winter’s Bone. Truly great. And to me, in nothing else.

Yeah, because posting on a site called celeBITCHY about a celebrity I don’t like makes me a troll. Sure.

      • Boston Green Eyes says:

@Frieda, IKR? The girl is 25 years old, for heaven’s sake! When Benedict Cumberbatch did something like this when he was 37, it was “cute!” and “funny!” (remember the napkin over the face, schtick anyone?). But when a talented and pretty *25* year old does it, she’s “annoying” and “immature.”

In the words of someone, get over yourselves!

      • smcollins says:

Agreed. Just because she has a silly sense of humor and doesn’t walk around with a stick up her a** like she’s oh-so-important doesn’t make her immature. She’s, what, 24? Give the girl a break…she’s young and having fun. As someone her age should be! I just don’t get all the hate thrown her way.

      • Liv says:

Art is not totally subjective. When directors and actors and actresses are all praising her and she wins an Oscar and was nominated twice before being 25 years old, then you can’t really say that she’s not talented. You can say that she’s not your favorite actress or you don’t like her, but she’s talented, if you like it or not.

      • Franca says:

I didn’t say she’s not talented. I said she’s not THAT talented. She’s okay, but she’s not the second coming of Meryl Streep.

      • Sticks says:

Agree with you 100%, Franka. She is ok as an actor but definitely not remarkable. Not to the level of attention she gets, anyway. And I too find her annoying. Very very annoying.

      • Emma - the JP Lover says:

@Liv, who wrote: “Art is not totally subjective. When directors and actors and actresses are all praising her and she wins an Oscar and was nominated twice before being 25 years old, then you can’t really say that she’s not talented.”

Yes, but her talent level doesn’t merit all the big woo she’s getting … as Franca said, and I agree. I personally think Jennifer Lawrence a juvenile, overrated actress who seems to be enjoying the smell of her own f–ts a wee too much. She has talent, but she’s definitely ‘not’ all that. Of course this ‘is’ all subjective, but my idea of a really good actor/actress is one with whom you can’t ‘see’ them act. A good actor/actress should never let you see them acting.

@Franca … way to stand your ground. 🙂

      • Loulou says:

        Yes, @Frieda.
All these people bashing her must truly be saints or the most composed people who ever lived to keep calling this successful, respected actress “immature” and other names.

      • Jules J says:

Ok, she may not be Meryl Streep – but Lawrence is immensely talented. I hope her early success doesn’t stunt her professional growth, but the hype is there for a reason. And Emma – if you want a stand-out example of ‘invisible’ acting, go see Winter’s Bone.

      • kennedy says:

Talent argument aside (and just FYI, I think she’s immensely talented) – she’s going to be photographed regardless – she’s in New York, not tucked away in some rural far-away land where photographers are less likely to hound her. Not ot mention, she’s arguably the biggest movie star in the world right now. So, knowing that, she’s having fun with the papz… they might as well get a shot of her doing something goofy since she is inevitably going to be photographed. I don’t really see the harm in that? This isn’t someone who relies on the media to shape her career. She’s done a good job of making the case for herself just based on talent. I find her annoying at times but I also like that at such a young age, she is still relatively level-headed and humble and can actually bring more to the table than a fashion show (cough Blake Lively cough) and/or her love life.

      • Liv says:

Okay, I’m curious: who do you think is more talented than her who’s her age? I really want to know.

      • Franca says:

Well, for an example, Saoirse Ronan is 2 or 3 years younger than Jennifer, and I find her to be more talented.

      • Seanna says:

So you think Lawrence may only be the second most talented actress of her generation, and that makes her ‘very overrated’ and ‘mediocre’. Gosh – you people are tough critics! I don’t think she’s necessarily ‘better’ than Ronan or Vikander or Woodley or several others I could name, but they are all – including Lawrence – highly talented, and she has an unusually wide range, being able to do both drama and comedy very well. I also fail to see why people seem intent on bashing her, and calling her immature. Yes, she’s a little eccentric and goofy, but she’s very funny in interviews and I suspect in person as well.

      • Franca says:

I gave you one example, I didn’t say Ronan is the only one that’s better.
        Let’s agree to disagree.

      • korra says:

Okay sorry, but yes I love Saoirse Ronan. She’s fantastic! Recommending again I Could Never Be Your Woman. The kid was 11 and pulling off a really good American accent.

    • Saks says:

I believe this or that at least they had a fight. She is behaving like a friend of mine in highschool when she broke up with her boyfriend, she began to dress ‘sexier’ and everytime he was around she acted as if she was having the best time ever. But in this case who knows…

    • Nuna says:

I, too, think she’s incredibly overrated as an actress. Annoying, trashy, immature, and self-absorbed to boot. I cringe whenever I come across a vid interview of her. Always talking over her costars and assuming everything she says is so interesting.

      • Seanna says:

Funny – I have exactly the opposite reaction when I see a vid interview with her. But then I don’t think she’s overrated, so maybe I’m not inclined to dislike her.

      • korra says:

She’s an actor. They tend to be self-absorbed. Her behavior here is nothing to get worked up about. It’s incredibly harmless. It’s her fans that are annoying and that make it seem like she’s in everybody’s faces.

  2. GoodNamesAllTaken says:

    Stupid.

Who is that handsome man with her in the first pic? I think I love him.

  3. D says:

Let’s talk about the hot bodyguard instead 😉

    • Mila says:

yes put people on a pedestal based on how they look!

      • AlmondJoy says:

Lol. There’s nothing wrong with pointing out that a person is attractive. I’m sure you’ve done it before.

      • MyHiddles says:

A pedestal would be uncomfortable, I have better places to put him.

    • Lara K says:

Shhhh. Don’t talk. Just bask in the beauty!

Also, this is not a pedestal, just basic appreciation! We are not catcalling, or propositioning, or assuming anything about him. Just observing that he is hot.

    • korra says:

      Every single one is gorgeous.

  4. The Eternal Side-Eye says:

    One word.

    Exhausting.

    • Nessa says:

Yes. This. I have such secondhand embarrassment for her.

      • Jbap says:

Really? I think she’s being entertainingly goofy. Also, I’d be slow to assume that the performance she puts on for the paps and on red carpets is how she is all the time. She’s an actress after all, and one who seems to be well-liked within Hollywood.

    • ell says:

this. I really don’t like like hating on young women, because I experience it in real life and it’s just super easy to be attacked over nothing as a 20 something, but jlaw rubs me the wrong way. I really tried to like her, but she’s, like you say, exhausting.

she has a lovely figure though.

  5. K says:

I don’t think the sanest adult in the world could deal with the level of fame she has these days, let alone someone in their early 20s with an acknowledged anxiety problem.

Better this kind of stupid than the Lohan variety, I guess.

    • Samtha says:

      Agreed 100%.

    • Alex says:

Yep I agree. It must be exhausting. And her anxiety problem is very evident every time she hits the red carpet. She’s only remotely comfortable with a few reporters that she knows and a few Costars
I’m thinking this behavior is ditching the old dude baggage (if that was even serious or a thing) and time spent around people she is most comfortable with (ie her parents, her best friend and the THG cast are all in NYC).

But the mustache thing is definitely a Friends reference (Rachel and Ross in Vegas anyone?)

    • doofus says:

I agree…though I do like her, I think she can def be annoying but I prefer her behavior to that of Lohan and other F ups.

    • Sea Dragon says:

      +1

    • Liberty says:

      agree

  6. InvaderTak says:

What happened to the middle finger umbrella and yelling obscenities? New pr strategy? Dorito dust on costumes not relatable enough?

    • Gill B says:

I’m pretty sure that whatever Jennifer Lawrence’s PR strategy is, she doesn’t have to change it…She walks out of a hotel, and it’s reported on dozens of media outlets.

  7. boredblond says:

Yeah yeah yeah..you’re so cute and edgy..yawn

  8. Allie says:

I love her plain white t shirt. It’s hard to find a shirt that has longer sleeves like that. How much do you wanna bet that it costs a couple hundred dollars? Boooo rich people.

    • manta says:

Especially when it’s not a simple white tee. I clicked on the link and from behind, it has a V shape clevage, baring the lower back. Still cute, but not exactly plain.

  9. Jegede says:

She seems happy, or eager to show she is.

I don’t follow JLaw that much, but I’m sure theres a reason.

  10. Christin says:

I think most eighth graders are more mature than to draw on their faces and show off in public. Her mother seemed to think it was funny, which I found equally odd.

    • Jules says:

This is her character. It’s so simple. You can see that since her interviews in 2009

      • Christin says:

I’m not sure everyone finds it amusing, though. She comes across as incredibly immature instead of funny.

      • Lolle says:

        @Christin
Like Cumberbatch with napkin over his face or the silly Pratt. But no they are men

      • Christin says:

Haven’t seen those guys doing what you describe, so I can’t comment. Regardless of gender, drawing with a ball point ink pen on one’s face is silly. Her schtick is seeking attention. Maybe those guys are the same, IDK.

  11. Mila says:

it really looks like she thought she could be all casual with Chris Martin and then he is seen with another famous woman and she must let the world know how little she cares and how happy she is. that screams of insecurity or heart break.

  12. GlimmerBunny says:

I think she’s just having fun. She’s only two years older than me an I still think her antics are funny!

On another note, I love her casual style. She has an almost identical body to mine, so she actually inspires me (unlike the tadpole-looking models and actresses usually praised as style icons.)

  13. Kiki says:

JLaw, just break up with Chris Martin. This isn’t a bad break-up, but a friendly one. After that, I just hope you patch things up with Nicolas Hoult, you two were so cute together. But, you do not want to mess with endless baggage, cause Chris Martin has some shit to deal with.

    • Lauren II says:

Jennifer doesn’t need Chris Martin’s Goopy-clingy nonsense in her life, or his cheating ways.
The Goop Troop (creds to Michael K) family vacations are a control mechanism for Gwyneth-which is bizarre. Goop will not let go-even though Chris cheated on her for years.
Now Chris is strolling with Kylie after midnight?
Jen is too good and young for Chris.
Move on Jen-the Chris shit will never end.

      • Sonia says:

Goop cheated Martin with Falchuck and he was still married. They had an open marriage

  14. Jessica says:

It seems pretty obvious to me. She’s getting papped constantly in NY. So she’s making sure the pictures are pretty much unusable for anything other than a ‘J-Law acts goofy’ story. These pictures aren’t actually getting her more attention, the completely normal pap pictures from last week were on every celeb news and gossip site as well. These pictures just mean Star and the like won’t be able to make up lies about her personal life based on her demeanor while being papped.

She did the same thing when she first started getting papped constantly after The Hunger Games and again when she started dating Martin (before it leaked). It works, people just start fighting about exactly how annoying she is, but otherwise ignore her comings and goings.

    • jinni says:

Actually by doing all of these crazy thing she’s upping the chances of her being papped because now they know she’ll do something that will make her pap pics unique. This means they’ll be worth more than just your standard celeb walking to a building from their car and vice versa pictures which make up the vast majority of pap photos. If she really wanted to make her pics worthless she’d pull an Sarah Jessica Parker or Daniel Radcliffe move, both of whom would wear the same clothing everyday so that their pics would truly be worthless since it would look like the same picture from the day before.

This all look rather attention seeking to me.

      • Jegede says:

        @jinni – Agreed.

Plus the skin tight black dress she’s wearing in today’s DM, there’s NO WAY that was NOT to get attention!!
(She looks good in it too).

  15. Lucy2 says:

Maybe she figures the photographers are going to follow her no matter what, so she might as well have some fun with it? I don’t see the harm.
It would be amazing to go apartment shopping with such a huge budget! She has probably seen some awesome places.

    • Naddie says:

That’s what I think. She’s just playing around, but I must admit I expected a better drawing, lol.

    • Kitten says:

I know. Sigh. This is one of those rare moments where I REALLY envy the rich.
Just to be able to get a really nice apartment without worrying about the cost…

  16. Kiddo says:

That bodyguard really IS hot. He has good style too.
I hate the skinny jeans here; HATE. They are not doing anyone any favors. And what’s up that expression in the linked photos? She perpetually makes the ‘rock star’ face ( I don’t know what else to call it), like Miley shows her tongue.

Maybe all the goofiness is the aftermath of being freed from the goopiness.

    • Kitten says:

He’s very hot but I disagree about the style. He cuffs his jeans at the bottom. Terrible. Plus a button-down tucked into jeans. I just can’t with that.

      • Kiddo says:

I don’t know why, but it works on him. He looks put together, not like he’s awaiting a terrible flood.

  17. Jayna says:

Look at me, Chris. See what you’re missing. Look at me, World. My boyfriend didn’t humiliate me by being seen out late at night with a beautiful pop star on a midnight stroll. And I’m soooo over him and happy, happy, happy!!! Can’t you tell? So there. Na-nah-na-nah-nah.

    • Jules says:

      That is bad trolling

      • Jayna says:

I’m a J-Lawrence fan regarding her movies. I’ve loved her in everything and think she is extremely talented and likeable..

BUT I call it like I see it. This is all about Chris, as far as I’m concerned, in a very immature reaction. I’ve never been called a troll on here. LOL There’s a first time for everything, I guess.

      • Anne tommy says:

Maturity as I said on the other J-law thread is very overrated. She’s mature about her career, she doesn’t need to be particularly mature about anything else at the moment. When You have dependants, then you can be Mature.
I’m astonished that Chris Martin can Snag All these good Looking women, he must have attractions not visible to the naked eye. Apologies for random cap syndrome.

    • Liberty says:

umm…..who thinks, “Hey, I know, I will make my BF super jealous by drawing on my face or doing chopstick tusks”?

No one, that’s who. My guess is she’s just relaxing from all the “you’re a star” stress and work on her recent film by having some goofy fun with her friends and with all the ridiculous NYC pap attention. Maybe even “hey you, pap guy, here’s your payday to pay your rent: me with a unibrow.” She seems secure in who she is, probably doesn’t give a damn, just has a laugh as a break from the 24/7 stress, press, pressure, commitments.

If Madge can walk around with a grill, and Jon Hamm can lead with the Hamiconda as his personal pocket pet, and Russell Brand can spend his days looking like Yoga Jesus, etc., what’s the big deal about this, in the end, if you think about it? MAYBE IT IS A SECRET HATE MESSAGE TO HARVEY WEINSTEIN!!!! There, fixed it.

  18. NewWester says:

Jennifer and that bodyguard look good together. Actually I think I would look good with that bodyguard

  19. als says:

If I had her work schedule and her obligations I wouldn’t be in the mood to pull this shit but I guess she’s tireless.

  20. Mimz says:

I hope this is not something pre-meltdown… I’m not a huge fan but I like her. Overall. It would be sad to see her go cray…

    • Sabrina says:

She was with her parents and friends. I don’t understand because people are alway expecting a meltdown. Before was a backlash (that there wasn’t one) and now a meltdown. Stop!

      • Mimz says:

I’m not expecting a meltdown, in fact, I’m hoping it is not the case – there is a difference. And I am not associating it with her alleged breakup or whatever, I believe the pressures of the business are enough. It is seen countless times in that industry, that people start acting out and it genuinely makes me sad (I still try and believe LiLo or Amanda Bynes will make it through and get better each and every time).
It hopefully is not the case and I probably am “reaching” but save your aggressiveness to someone else who deserves it. And if you don’t want to see “backlash” or speculations you are on the wrong website.

      • Jules says:

But she isn’t “start acting out”, this is her character like her and her friends (also her peers) said in interviews. That it was something bad I don’t think that her mother would be happy like the pics showed

    • Cindy says:

That was exactly my first thought.

    • Jasmine says:

      @MiMz
The same meltdown that will have Cumberbacht for a nipkin over is face. Or the silly Hiddlestone, Pratt and many other

  21. Frieda says:

I don’t buy the ‘deflecting attention’ angle at all. I think Lawrence is just having fun – the paparazzi know where she’s staying in NYC, she can’t avoid them so she’s just messing around. People giving out about her being childish need to chill: I think her trolling of the paps is quite entertaining.

I also have to say she’s also looking really good in those photos!

  22. Sabrina says:

I think that she was happy to be with her parents and firends. She’s the biggest movie star in the world but she also still a baby

    • Don't kill me I'm French says:

A baby? She is 25 years old! She’s an adult ! Julia Roberts or Reese Witherspoon were as famous as her at the same age and they never acted like a petulant kid .
It’s the same woman who does a poker face to the paps the day ,who plays with them the night or made them a finger
She’s not drunk or in pre-meltdown….she plays with the paps

      • Jbap says:

What’s wrong with playing with the paps? I don’t get why being goofy in front of the cameras is supposed to be a bad thing – or giving them the finger for that matter, when they are being pricks.

Also, I’m not sure that ‘American Citizen’ Witherspoon is the best example I’d pick of a celebrity not acting like a petulant kid…

  23. Jess says:

    Hello bodyguard, good lawdamercy.

She’s a young star dealing with constant cameras in her face, I’d probably act immature at times too. Her body looks great in these pictures! I missed the Chris Martin thing, going to catch up now.

  24. littlemissnaughty says:

I really have no patience for adults behaving like petulant children. So your multimillion dollar payday comes with disadvantages. Every job does but the more money you make, the more you pay for it in other areas of your life. That really does go for EVERY job. If people in other jobs acted like this it would be considered unprofessional but I guess I just don’t understaaand. *whine*

    • Gill B says:

How on earth is she acting ‘unprofessionally’, or like a ‘petulant child’? She’s having a little harmless, good-natured fun with the paps, who are probably thrilled as they are selling the photos everywhere. Everyone benefits, including her PR. What’s the problem?

      • littlemissnaughty says:

If this is what you see, that’s your opinion. Which is fine. Only, this isn’t an isolated incident and she’s openly and seriously complained about them before. That is what I rarely have patience for. Clearly, she’s been burned by this new culture of celebrity and she doesn’t have to love it. But my general opinion is “Don’t complain to the public because you’re probably complaining to a single mom with 3 jobs. And that’s tacky.”

      • Gill B says:

Well, I don’t think being a celebrity means you have to accept being perpetually hounded by the paps – especially when you try to keep your private life separate from your work, as Lawrence does. But I still don’t see what’s wrong with this ‘incident’ – she isn’t complaining or giving them the finger, but instead is going with the flow and giving them something harmless to sell to the tabloids. If anything, people who usually complain about her ‘unprofessional’ attitude to the paps should be congratulating her for being more relaxed – but I suppose the moaners have got to moan.

      • littlemissnaughty says:

Yes, I suppose we do, don’t we?

That argument is so old, it’s the “you shouldn’t have to endure this” argument. No, you shouldn’t have to but again, that goes for so many jobs. Most job, in fact. Sometimes at work and in life you just have to eat sh*t. Nothing ever comes without a price, WHY should fame and fortune? Really. I’d love to know that. And I’m not saying she has to love it, I’m simply saying if you need to complain, do it privately. I don’t complain about my overtime to my friend who’s got the same problems only she’s paid significantly less than I am because WHY would I do that?
So to the celebs: Do it in front of your equally successful and rich friends. Because otherwise, and I can’t stress this enough, you’re probably complaining to that single mom with 3 jobs. That. Is. Tacky. Stop it.

      • Gill B says:

But she’s not complaining here, is she? So what is the problem?

      • littlemissnaughty says:

So when she’s complaining, you’ll agree with me? No. You just want me to follow your line of argument while ignoring mine but okay, I’ll repeat myself one more time.

This is only one more incident in a series of incidents/comments. If you think you can look at it as an isolated incident, a bit of fun, that’s fine. I don’t see it that way. She’s basically flipping them off and sure, those pics sell even better but that’s why I called her a petulant child. Because what she’s doing is actually making it worse for her if the pics sell even better. You really think she’s doing this to “have a bit of fun with the paparazzi”? Honestly.

      • Gill B says:

Yes, I do think it’s obviously a bit of fun – she’s plainly entertaining herself, and the paps as well. But if she flipped them off, I won’t mind either: no one is harmed, no one loses out. And I’m not going to judge her for reacting badly from time to time to pap intrusion. Frankly, I think that’s a normal human reaction.

      • littlemissnaughty says:

Well, I know you feel that way, that was clear from your initial answer to my post. That’s fine. I just don’t see it that way. And sure, human reaction. I’m just saying, if I acted like this at work on even on the street (for whatever reason, it’s not like I’m followed by paparazzi), my mother would tell me to pull myself together and she’d be right. Just my opinion.

  25. anon says:

    Maybe she’s drunk or sth

    • Jules says:

      She was with her parents

      • Zapp Brannigan says:

Do her parents not allow her to drink? I don’t really know much about her so whats the story there?

Edit to reply to Jules: Thats a new one to me that people are dry around their parents. Different strokes and all that.

      • Jules says:

        @Zapp Branningan
If you are with your parents you don’t drink a lot

      • jmho says:

You have never spent time around my parents. You would drink. A lot.

      • Janet R says:

jmho – you made me snort my coffee!

  26. Hautie says:

In what world, was Chris Martin ever a goal for a boyfriend?

The man has a Goop, whom he will never be rid of. And has made it clear, that Goop is still very much running his life.

    If anything… all I can say is… run – Jennifer – run!

A grown man who lets a OCD narcissistic ex-wife, have that much daily control over his life… is a man you do NOT need in yours.

    • Franca says:

Using OCD ans an insult. Lovely.

    • poppy says:

Seems CM still rather spends his time with his ex wife and their kids than with ‘oh look I am so quirky’ JLaw.

But whatever, I never saw the appeal in this overrated girl. Her Oscar win was a complete joke and quite frankly she looks (and acts) like an ordinary mall girl. CM should get with Kylie, she seems cool.

      • Jbap says:

Poppy, malls where you live must be special places, if every girl in them looks like J-Law! Each to their own, but I don’t get why some people are desperate to claim she’s overrated – her acting talent is obvious, and she has charisma to burn.

      • Jasmine says:

        @poppy
        A pressed troll!

    • ell says:

      hahahah, I SO agree.

    • Aren says:

I agree. The guy has very little talent, and doesn’t seem mature or even nice.
She’s a gorgeous girl, a great actress, why in the world be with somebody like that?

  27. Talie says:

She’s better off just investing in an apartment for about $3 mil. Values in NYC are always going up.

  28. kri says:

If that was me I’d be drying my tears on that bodyguard’s sheets. Good lord. Jlaw is a bit much, but hopefully she will calm down.

  29. mark says:

She’s real mature beyond her years acting like this getting dumped.

    • Jasmine says:

Like Cumberbacht, Pratt, Hiddlestone and many other who acting silly and they have 30+ years. but no, it’s only when is a sucessful young woman that there is a problem LOL

      • Franca says:

But people find Cumberbatch annoying, Pratt hasn’t been around long enough (in such a big way), and people were annoyed when Hiddles did the dancing bear thing, but at least he only did it when promoting a movie.

      • Jbap says:

Jasmine, spot on! Quirky humour from male stars is charming, quirky humour from female celebs is a sign that they are immature and egoistical. The double standards are ridiculous.

      • Boston Green Eyes says:

@Franca, people did not find Cumberbatch annoying until his recent Trolling-for-Oscar shenanigans. And way to go giving the older boys a pass. They, at the threshold of middle-age (well, at least Cumberbatch) acting like twenty-somethings, and a bona fide twenty-something acting like…oh, snap!

      • Franca says:

People didn’t find Jennifer annoying the first few years either.

      • mark says:

I’d say the same thing if it were a guy.

Not every everything is a gender issue for heavens sake

      • Jules J says:

Franca, I hate to be the one to break the news to you, but Lawrence remains hugely popular, goofs and all – the backlash that you and others have been predicting for two years now has yet to materialise.

      • Nancy says:

Quirky humor is one thing – quirky means odd, and clever. Making walrus chopstick faces and drawing on your face is neither quirky nor clever. It’s 7th grade humor. And where are all the people who were hysterical over an actress using chopsticks in her hair at the Met Ball when JLaw clearly had them in her hair and then up in her teeth.

Cultural mockery – it’s ok when your fangirl does it.

  30. cleveland girl says:

She is actually starting to remind me of Amanda Bynes with all this kooky behavior.

    • Susan says:

Same behavior of Cumberbacht (napkin over his face) OMG he will have a meltdown like Amanda Bynes! Ah no, he’s a man

    • Franca says:

      Now you’r reaching to far.

    • FingerBinger says:

This isn’t like Amanda Bynes. Amanda was wacky wigs ,crazy tweets. She wasn’t hanging with her parents like Jennifer Lawrence is either. Jennifer is being goofy ,she’s not mental.

    • Anne tommy says:

Maybe all you mature people should have an evening out sipping a dry sherry, doing some crotchet, talking about mortgage rates, swapping recipes and plant cuttings, speaking very quietly and doing whatever the hell else it is that marks one as mature. What a laugh riot that would be.

  31. Tracy says:

I love that Jen feels she can be herself –with or without pap cameras– any time she wants. Her level of celebrity is such a trying lifestyle as well as one filled with privlege. I hope she wears whatever the hell she wants, goofs around however and whenever she wants, acts however she wants and loves her life. She owes us only what she does on the screen. That’s it.

  32. perplexed says:

I would probably troll the paps from time to time if I were super famous. Life gets boring sometimes.

Nobody around her looks offended. She’s not flipping the bird or swearing at anybody with insults (which is what I would consider childish and rude).

There might not be any meaning in what she’s doing except to make walking through NYC with cameras on her more interesting for her, because that kind of life does sound simultaneously boring and anxiety-inducing.

    • Josefa says:

I completely agree. She’s Jennifer flappin’ Lawrence. She’s the It Girl of our generation. Like her or not, she just is. The way I see it, she’s getting papped all the time, so she probably just woke up one day and thought, okay, let’s make this one a little more fun. The photos were gonna be uploaded to the web anyway so people could comment on her clothing or whatever. Now Jen had a little fun and the paps had a more interesting story to tell. Win-win situation.

    • mark says:

Trolling by making them more money?

      • Josefa says:

Exactly! They get a better story and she had fun. And the naysayers of the church of Lawrence have yet more reasons to hate her (like they needed any, lol). Everyone wins.

      • perplexed says:

Sure, why not? Everyone has a different way of dealing with press intrusion. And her way doesn’t seem particularly rude. Neither was Emma Stone’s and the Spiderman guy’s way, but somehow people found fault with them too.

As long as you’re not punching someone or even swearing at them, I don’t really get why the behaviour would be called childish.

  33. Rachel says:

I still find it strange that so many people refer to her as “witty”, “charming” and/or “quirky”. She just reminds me of the girls in high school who can’t shut up. There’s always one in every class.

  34. original kay says:

much better she gets it out of her system in circumstances like these (casual) and not in red carpets, where she is working.

remember the whole hiccup thing? that is attention seeking. not to mention (ok, yes to mention) the rude comment to the reporter at the oscars (silver linings playbook or something? cast question period, in any case).
or.. her fart jokes on late night TV, etc. you get the picture.

I think she has very unlimited boundaries, and for me, would be simply exhausting to be around.
like, zero boundaries at all, with regard controlling herself, I mean.

  35. GPSB says:

This girl is so very thirsty.

    • Frieda says:

Given that Lawrence spends most of her time avoiding the paps, and doesn’t usually go to premieres of films she isn’t in, how exactly is she ‘thristy’? Bear in mind she gets lapped everywhere she goes, irrespective of whether she reacts or not.

      • Frieda says:

That should have been ‘papped’, not ‘lapped’!

      • GPSB says:

You don’t think walking outside for the paps with ridiculous scribble on one’s face is intended to make otherwise run-of-the-mill pap photos newsworthy? Okay, your stanning is duly noted.

      • Josefa says:

She’s just trolling the paps. She decided to have fun this one time. Big deal.

      • Jules J says:

GPSB – people trolling shouldn’t be too quick to accuse others of stanning.

      • Anne tommy says:

        What’s stanning?

      • MildredFierce says:

I live in Tribeca NYC two blocks from the Greenwich Hotel – she is staying at the Greenwich Hotel – where all the stars stay – because Robert DeNiro owns it. If you are movie star and don’t want the paps – because there’ s no secret exit – don’t stay on the Greenwich Hotel! Wow – what a novel idea. But they all love to stay there because all the other ‘cool kids’ do—

And this 7th level humor – is doth protest too much!

      • Jbap says:

MildredFierce – I used to live around there! Great part of the world. And I agree with you that she’s not there to hide from the paps, like she tries to do in LA. Instead, she’s in NYC to promote the Hunger Games – so she’s there, doing her job, getting media attention like a star is supposed to do. The goofy humour helps with that as well. Nothing wrong with that, in my book: it’s all part of the job, and she does it very well.

    • Tacos and TV says:

Hungry and thirsty. The Hunger-thirsty is really real.

  36. Lisa says:

Does anyone know when that exact white t-shirt is from? Lol

  37. Alice says:

She’s always been a famew*ore. Is anybody really surprised?

    • Jasmine says:

No she isn’t. When she isn’t filming you rarely see her. now she’s a New York and there are pics of her but in this last six months there are little pics of her. You have tried LOL

      • Jules J says:

Oh, the anti-JLaw poison is really coming out now. So, she’s a talentless famewhore who slept her way to the top, is she? Charming…What is it about talented and successful young female celebs that triggers this type of comment?

  38. At first glance I thought Jennifer was Goop with dried out yellow extensions, then I realized it was that fool Jennifer. Chris Martin must have a type.

  39. amanda says:

Attention seeker wants us to focus on her and not her hot bodyguards. Not going to work. Until she hires an ugly one.

  40. Jules J says:

The pressedness on this thread is amazing. What has J-Law ever done to warrant such contempt?! Just wait until Mockingjay No 2 and Joy come out back to back at the end of the year – the haters are going to be in full flow, Bedhead should sell tickets!

    • Kitten says:

Yeah I don’t get it either, and I’m totally ambivalent about her.

Sure, her behavior is goofy, but she’s 24. I acted like an asshat at that age as well. She’s harmless and she’s not untalented, no matter how much people here are insisting otherwise.

It sort of reminds me of the Swift threads where people get so up-in-arms about a woman who is (to me anyway) relatively bland and innocuous.

      *shrugs*

    • Beth says:

I think this is going to be a banner year for her. Maybe her most high profile yet. And yeah, she’ll definitely receive a lot of vitriol.

    • Nuna says:

It’s overexposure, I’ll admit, as well as her annoying personality. I don’t hate her but I’m definitely not a fan. I don’t go out of my way to notice or click on her media, but man, she’s too self-absorbed.

      • Sonia says:

How has she overexposure? You rarely see her when she isn’t filming or promoting a movie. And she makes only 1-2 movies in a year

  41. shi_gatsu says:

    I hope she’s not unraveling

    • Dimitri says:

Yes, like Cumberbacht withthe napkin over the face or Hiddleston dance. But no it’s only when there is a woman than there will be meltdowns or she’s unraveling. Double standar and bad trolling

  42. Cinderella says:

Never saw her act this quirky when she was with Chris. I guess now she can be herself and act out.

  43. shi_gatsu says:

Yeah. I agree. I’ve thought about it. She’s not unraveling. She’s just having fun

  44. shi_gatsu says:

In fact these stunts make me like her even more. She doesn’t take herself too seriously

  45. Hannah says:

I am just here for the hot bodyguard. Why would you date Chris Martin when you spend every day with that hottie. Why??

  46. FWIW says:

If she finally woke up and dumped Chris Martin well then ……. good for her. She’s young and shouldn’t have to put up with the goop baggage plus Chris Martin is fugly and dresses like a teenager with those shoes he wears. Ugh add in that he looks like the most boring man on earth and I will never understand why she dated him in the first place. There are many hot, single, and fun guys out there to settle. And I’m not even a Jen fan but, yeah, she deserves better.

  47. Helo says:

I love Lawrence…she’s funny, very talented and has never done anything to make me dislike her. That’s it and that’s all.

I certainly don’t get overly annoyed when an actress/actor does something goofy that harms no one and is obviously nothing more than a young woman having fun. I certainly had fun at 24…and much goofier, without all the success and fame that Lawrence has.

Too much wasted energy over nothing. Again, let the woman have some fun after the summer of hell and all that other shit she had to deal with and dealt with beautifully.

  48. MildredFierce says:

Yeah, so my bets – since ol’JL loves the Greenwich Hotel so much. She is buying apartment in Tribeca. Probably in GOOPS building where Meryl lives too. Or she be a block away from Taylor S – who brings in the glorious pap traffic. Yeah, I have lived here since 1999 before September 11th and all these idiots make me want to move…it was quiet. They only celeb was JFK jr and his wife. I liked looking at them. They were regal and reserved. They had class. This group does not.

    • Gill B says:

MildredFierce, I can sympathise! However, there was a time when the Kennedys were viewed as gauche arrivistes with no class. IMHO, your neighbourhood could do worse than attract Taylor Swift and J-Law: at least they are genuinely talented at what they do, unlike so many others.

      • MildredFierce says:

Yeah, I am not Kennedy fan. Ted deserved jail time. IMO. Just liked JFK jr. and his wife insofar as neighbors are concerned… I don’t care about talent. Talent doesn’t make a good neighbor or good person.

  49. Ann says:

I have no idea what got into her. Early June she was jumoing hiding behind Bono because paps caught her with her Chris while they were in a very public place. Now she is acting this way. What a freak mood change? no wonder people don’t like her with Chris. She looks miserable being seen with him.

  50. I Choose Me says:

I’m just here for pictures of the hot bodyguard.

  51. Alice D says:

I see from Twitter this evening that J-Law is in NYC to promote the Hunger Games. So no one needs to go constructing theories that her facepainting and being nice to the paps is linked to Chris Martin, or evidence that she’s having a nervous breakdown, or anything like that – she’s just doing her job, generating headlines to promote her film, as she’s paid to do.

Also, people can debate all they like about whether she’s overrated, or immature, or just too much: she’s undeniably a star, with charisma, looks, a certain level of talent and a distinctive personality. And that’s why the film industry likes her – because she generates headlines like almost no one else, and means more to the younger generation in particular than most of the celebs discussed on this board.

  52. B says:

OMG she’s so relatable!!! Just like one of us

  53. Sonia says:

She is the world’s highest-paid actress on Forbes 100 (#34) and the first actor is Robert Downey Jr (#8). The only actresses who made the top 100 list are JLaw #34 and Scarlett Johansson #65
A great achievement at such young age

  54. anna says:

Ugh Tribeca is the only area of Manhattan I really love. So jel

  55. Allie P says:

Lawrence and the clothes she’s wearing are trending globally this morning on Facebook. People who think she’s being ‘silly’ or ‘immature’ or ‘unprofessional’ with the face-painting and fun with chopsticks should think about that for a minute, and then think about how much cash she probably pulls in for generating that level of social media attention for the people whose clothes she wears.
