Vice President Joe Biden’s daughter Ashley has plunged herself into some seriously hot water. The 27-year-old social worker has a “friend” (and I use that word loosely, because he’s one hell of a friend) who’s shopping around a video of Ashley snorting cocaine at a party. The video appears to be legal as the friend claims Ashley knew she was being taped.
He contacted two lawyers who are helping him sell the footage – originally demanding a whopping $2 million from the New York Post, which refused. They lowered the price to $400,000, but the Post still said no (no word on if that’s due to ethics or cost). They did, however, view the 90 seconds that appears to show Ashley snorting coke.
A “friend” of Vice President Joseph Biden’s daughter, Ashley, is attempting to hawk a videotape that he claims shows her snorting cocaine at a house party this month in Delaware. The anonymous male acquaintance of Ashley took the video, said Thomas Dunlap, a lawyer representing the seller. Dunlap and a man claiming to be a lawyer showed The Post about 90 seconds of 43-minute tape, saying it was legally obtained and that Ashley was aware she was being filmed. The Post refused to pay for the video.
The video, which the shooter initially hoped to sell for $2 million before scaling back his price to $400,000, shows a 20-something woman with light skin and long brown hair taking a red straw from her mouth, bending over a desk, inserting the straw into her nostril and snorting lines of white powder. She then stands up and begins talking with other people in the room. A young man looks on from behind her, facing the camera. The lawyers said he was Ashley’s boyfriend of a few years.
The camera follows the woman from a few feet away, focusing on her as she moves around the room. It appears not to be concealed. At one point she shouts, “Shut the f— up!” The woman appears to resemble Ashley Biden, 27, a social worker for a Delaware child-welfare agency and a visible presence during her father’s campaign for the White House. The dialogue is difficult to discern, but the woman makes repeated references to the drugs, said the lawyers, who said they viewed the tape about 15 times.
“At one point she pretty much complains that the line isn’t big enough,” said the second lawyer, who declined to identify himself. “And she talks about her dad.” Biden has been an outspoken crusader against drugs, coining the term “drug czar” in 1982 while campaigning for a more forceful “war on drugs.” The lawyers declined to name the person who shot the video, but said he knew Ashley well and had attended other parties with her at which there were illegal drugs.

The lawyers say the woman talks about her dad, but from their phrasing it sounds like the Post didn’t see that part. So there’s no way to know what she says, and if it’s anything that identifies him as Joe Biden. Obviously the Post wasn’t able to verify for sure that the woman on the video is Ashley Biden, though they said she looks the same. It seems like they’re trying to put the story out there before someone else beats them to it, while still being cautious about saying it’s clearly Ashley.
If it is her, it’ll probably be a medium-level scandal. The adult daughter of the Vice President isn’t quite as salacious as the guy who took the video probably hoped. Given the nature of her job, she would probably be fired though. More than chastising her it makes me hope she gets some help.

BFD. my brother went to yale and was at a house party attended by barbara bush (one of the twins) when she was there. she goes into the bathroom, takes forever in there, and then someone goes in after her, comes out and says, ‘dude, barbara just left so much coke all over the bathroom.” it happens.
I don’t think “it happens” is a good enough excuse for either side of the poltical spectrum.
American demand for illegal drugs has turned large parts of Mexico into a war zone, just as it created guerilla armies and government reprisals in Peru, Columbia and Bolivia. Men, women, and children have suffered so Ashley and Barbara can have a thrill at parties.

Jesus Christ, she doesn’t need help. Lots of professionals do drugs recreationally and don’t have a problem with it. Why don’t you focus on getting the millions of alcoholics out there some help? And there wouldn’t be all this drug-related violence is drugs were TAXED and REGULATED. It would put all these drug lords out of business overnight! And make it much safer for the people who are clearly going to take drugs anyway! Its not like these inane drug laws have been any kind of deterrent anyway!
I was just thinking of the move “Traffic” when I read this. Michael Douglas’ daughter in the film was a bit younger, but it would definitely bring home the point the Mexicans are making these days.

It isn’t like she is a really exotic looking person…I am sure there are thousands of women who resemble her. What a great way to make some cash, meet someone who looks a lot like the daughter of someone important, pay her a few bucks to do some drugs on tape, and then shop the tape around to the rags. UGH!

I mean its been done before, will be done again and is pretty much a non-scandal in my opinion because plenty of high profile people or the offspring of high profile people use drugs recreationally. i wasnt purporting to excuse drug use at the cost of poor mexico blah blah blah. i am dubious (and would be no matter whose daughter it was) because it is just way to convenient. we don’t know how old this vido is…are we talking 6 weeks or 6 years? also, i cannot believe that she would be that stupid, to let herself be filmed doing drugs publically AND talking about her father? it could be anyone in that tape.

I don’t know why people are making such a big deal about this. There’s no proof that the person in the video is really Ashley Biden, and even if it is, she’s a grown woman. She’s quite capable of making her own decisions. I know plenty of professionals that take drugs recreationally, and it’s really no one elses business.
We’re still in the middle of a war, Unemployment is the highest its been in years, and we’re in the middle of a recession, Why in Gods name are people worrying about THIS!!! We have much bigger problems than the vice presidents daughter, having a problem with the nose candy.
I really don’t think that you can judge him for his daughters actions. I’ve seen people who have either gotten heavily into drugs or done them on occasion, and I can truly tell you that it doesn’t really have anything to do with the parents. People like to think that they can control what their kids do, but the truth is, if your kid wants to do drugs they’re going to do them. I came from a good family, my parents talked to me about drugs, but it didn’t stop me from using them recreationally during high school and college. I’m a republican and will usually find any reason to talk trash about a democratic politician, but this is just ridiculous.

I will be just as upset if Biden’s daughter, in particular as a social worker, is out there stuffing up nose candy, as I was about Bush’s niece and her Oxycontin (she couldn’t even spell the word on the faked prescription!), and Palin’s daughter, NOT because SHE got pregnant but because of her mother’s hypocrisy about the whole thing. If you step into a public role voluntarily or even if you are dropped into it, as a member of society you have a responsibility to live up to the part. All of the people involved are old enough to know that. More people in this country, “liberal” and “conservative” (whatever those labels mean) should act like the adults they are supposed to be. “Nuff said?
