Anna Faris discusses Chris Pratt cheating rumors: ‘It has been devastating’

Anna Faris

Here’s a photo of Anna Faris at the CBS/TCA summer party. Her dress is cute and different than her usual style, but she’s promoting Mom, which is a pretty bad show. It must be popular enough to keep running though, so I don’t know what’s going on with audiences.

Anna spoke with Fox 411 about the rumors that she and Chris Pratt are on the rocks. The gossip started in June with Star magazine saying Anna was so embarrassed by Pratt’s ego, which had “almost surpassed his fame.” Star also printed a story (that I ignored) about how Pratt was looking forward to hooking up with Jennifer Lawrence on the set of their space drama, which is ridiculous.

Look, I go back and forth on liking Pratt, but I really like Anna. They seem really solid. Pratt spoke at length to GQ about how hurt he is when other guys hit on Anna in front of him. He’s really devoted to Anna, and likewise. Here’s what Anna had to say about the rumors:

Anna Faris is finally speaking out about tabloid reports that her marriage to movie mega-star Chris Pratt is on the rocks.

“It has been a little devastating. For us it was like, ‘What the heck.’ This has been blindsiding to us. We have an incredible relationship. It has been weirdly stinging.”

In July, Star magazine reported that Faris, 38, was concerned her husband of six years would cheat with his sexy new co-star, Jennifer Lawrence.

“[That] stung a little bit harder than I thought it would,” she admitted. “I have always kind of believed that part of the rumors of celebrity couples were sort of true – because they had never been a part of my life. I thought ‘Maybe there is a kernel of truth to that.'”

Farris and Pratt first met in 2007. They married in 2009 and have a 3-year-old son, Jack. “I am very lucky that I am with a man that we both value family,” she said.

Basically, the tabloids are making sh*t up about this couple. It’s a convenient and believable plot line that Pratt would ditch his faithful wife soon after turning into a superstar. But I’m not buying it. These two balance each other out, and Pratt reportedly won’t even do love scenes because he doesn’t want to stoke the fires. They’re fine.

i wish she’s the one with his career, she’s fun and i love her! mom sucks! i read ellen burstyn is joining the show too, i cant believe it, but cbs comedies somehow make lots of money, so whatever, good for her

    • K says:

      Moms is an awesome show.

      • WinterLady says:

I think Mom is a pretty good show as well. I appreciate how it doesn’t go for the easy life and is willing to be dark and depressing.

    • bravocueen says:

The first season Mom wasn’t very good. The second season it was great. I love Alison Janey. She’s so versatile.

    • ichsi says:

She is ridiculously underrated, one of the few people who can make really trite dialogue still funny and entertaining. That’s a gift. So yeah, I wish she had gotten the career too. As for the rumours: they’re so standard fare for an actor dating/being married to an older woman I wouldn’t even give them a second look.

  2. lisa2 says:

It’s interesting that she said she usually thought stories about other celebs were partially true. Strange.. because when it come to their relationship it is stinging and hurtful. I’m sure the celebs that have these things printed about them all the time may feel the same.

She and Chris seem a solid couple. They are entering a new territory in celebrity. They are going to be the topic of Gossip now. If you have never experienced that it can cause problems is you don’t face it and stick together. The bigger he gets the more will come. SADLY

    • MoxyLady007 says:

She was saying she can empathize now.

    • Nicole says:

She’s saying something that many celebs have said before her. When they are coming up they look at mags and probably think there’s some grain of truth to it. Then when they blow up to fame and get that very same treatment they realize just how many outright false stories can get printed about them.
She now “gets” it. And it probably does hurt. The proactive cheating stories probably suck for all three of them. And how much you want to bet these tab stories strain an otherwise happy marriage? I wouldn’t be surprised

  3. Lara K says:

I totally love them as a couple.

And I love that she straight up says it hurts when tabloids make up this sh*t. Many celebrities just shrug it off and I feel like that just gives tabloids an excuse, because see we are no hurting anyone.

I’ve had my doubts about Chris’ ego, etc, but not about his marriage.

    • Ronda says:

they shrug it off to not give them any fuel. if you appear to laugh about such rumours you seem stronger and more secure.

i dont see how rumours of any kind could be good for a relationship, no matter how secure you are in that relationship and yourself.

      • Esmom says:

Yes, I’d think rumors like that could really mess with your mind, no matter how solid your relationship. I can just envision doubts slowly creeping in no matter how hard you try to ignore the crap. Horrible to imagine.

  4. Starrywonder says:

Yeah I don’t think so. She was the famous one for a really long time so I doubt all of a sudden he would be all let’s trade up.

And I still think the love scene stuff is crap.

    • Alex says:

But she was never THIS famous so it’s new for both of them. Her career is on the up and Chris just blew up in the last year. So this is a lot more fame than either of them have ever had before. So this tab story Bs, paps everywhere is probably new for her as well.

      • Starrywonder says:

Yeah I agree with that, but I am saying that a lot of people had no idea who the heck Anna Faris’s husband even was, I mean I loved Chris Pratt on P&R but not a lot of people watched it or knew him.

And yeah I agree the tabs are always lying about someone cheating/divorced.

      • Alex says:

True. I knew of Chris Pratt before Anna (Everwood was one of my favorite shows) but I’m in the minority with that

  5. Talie says:

Now I feel bad for her! It must be weird because they were catapulted so quickly.

  6. Lucy2 says:

It’s interesting to get that perspective, someone who went from a spectator to a target like that.
They seem happy and solid. Star is fullnof crap as always.

  7. MrsBPitt says:

Unfortunately, these days, nothing would surprise me…celebs saying they are solid one day and then splitsville the next day, is getting to be “normal”…but, I do like them, and hope that they are fine!

  8. minx says:

    Adorable couple.

  9. Div says:

I remember reading that they way they got together was a tad shady. She divorced her first husband and married Chris all within the space of a year. She was apparently still married when she first met Chris and worked with him on a project…before divorcing her husband and marrying Chris. That said, I think she was super, super young when she got married to the first husband and I think Chris is devoted to her…but she may be insecure if she was attracted to Chris while she was still married to her first husband and wonders if the same could happen with him and another woman.

    • Ronda says:

or she knows that she cant be trusted herself and is worried she will be exposed in the press.

    • Absolutely says:

She was 28 when she got married the first time. We aren’t talking teenage marriage here.

    • KB says:

Really? I don’t remember hearing anything like that. Didn’t she say she went a little crazy after her divorce, like going out and drinking since she was newly single? If she were already in another serious relationship that would be odd.

  10. Ronda says:

Of course rumours are bad and will damage even the best and most stable relationship. imagine being at home and your attractive partner is away and people say your partner is cheating. no one will just laugh it off.

then again fame and dating famous people is a choice. they are both consenting adults, if they dont want this kind of rumours they can just quit and live a low key life.

Being an actor comes with those rumours, either accept them or break up or quit the job and please stop whining about it.

    • Div says:

Agree, it must suck but it’s one of those things they just kind of have to deal with for the most part.

    • WinnieCoopersMom says:

Good point. They are not victims of their careers.

    • Lucky Charm says:

But why should anyone have to deal with those types of rumors at all, though? They may choose to be actors, but I don’t think rumors about one or both spouses cheating should be part of the deal. That’s just hurtful to anyone.

  11. Betsy says:

I’ve never liked her. I don’t actively dislike her, I just have no special like for her. He’s adorable to look at, but he shouldn’t talk, because then I find out things like he shows off his junk to unwilling people as a joke. I had classmates like that and I never liked it then, either.

    • Meryl says:

I’m in the same boat. She was just meh to me. Then she started messing with her face over the last for years and that kinda made me side eye her because she was always good looking then she went overboard with the surgeries. I think he’s kind of just paying her lip service about how she can hang her hat already because she’s done amazing things in her career. She’s done a few mediocre things and now is stuck on an awful TV show. That all said, I do like them as a couple and they have the cutest kid.

      • WinnieCoopersMom says:

Yeah I love ‘Just Friends,’ but it wasn’t exactly great cinematography lol. And did he really tell her she can hang her hat now? Ummmmm….that sounds a lot like ‘Babe, can you keep a quiet career so I can shine for a while?’ I don’t like that suppressive mentality whether it’s coming from husband or wife. Why would someone try to hold back their spouse? Ego? Power struggle?? Hmm *side eye*

    • Jen43 says:

I agree with both of you. I don’t have any feelings about her; and I like his work, but I find him obnoxious. I don’t see them as being super devoted to each other like everyone else here does, but I hope they prove me wrong.

  12. Betti says:

I love these guys as a couple and she seems super sweet. Don’t know if he has a big ego but he does seem very gregarious and loud and they do appear to be truly in love with each other.

  13. Keaton says:

I remember how likable they were on Top Chef a few seasons ago. Very authentic, nice and down-to-earth. They’re my favorite celebrity couple

As far as the JLaw story goes: JLaw could help his career but I couldn’t see him trying to “trade-up”. Anna is just as pretty and talented. Plus she just seems more like a WOMAN if that makes sense. Like she seems to have more life experience and is grounded. Nothing against JLaw but they seem to be at totally different stages in life.

    • Alex says:

Not only that but they haven’t even met yet! The movie doesn’t start filming until next month and Star is already printing cheating stories. This is the kind of ish that would drive me nuts

    • Jonathan says:

It’s IMPOSSIBLE to trade up from Anna Faris! I just love her to death. She’s my ‘if I were straight’ crush.

I don’t think Anna has anything to worry about- Chris is the most in love with his wife man I’ve ever seen- and he’s not THAT good an actor to be faking it.

I watch House Bunny every few weeks or so- that and Smiley Face- just to get my Anna fix…

    • WinnieCoopersMom says:

Let’s be real here: JLaw likes her lanky British fellows.. polite, quiet, poetic, British men. If she was costarring with Eddie Redmayne, I could maybe see it happening. But with Pratt? Nah..she clearly likes being the loud, obnoxious one in the relationship. With Pratt’s personality, they would compete to see who can make the funniest fart jokes.

  14. Helo says:

@Keaton: Eh, Jennifer Lawrence seems very grounded to me…she certainly handles the fame and success extremely well, especially for someone who is all of 24 years old.

Anyway, the whole story is BS…a fabricated BS story from STAR magazine.

    • Keaton says:

Don’t get me wrong @Helo, I like JLaw! It’s just that I scratched my head at the rumor. I know it’s silly to speculate why someone would cheat but I just can’t see why he’d be tempted by JLaw over Anna.

The tabloid calls JLaw his “sexy young co-star” Really? Sexy? She’s not gross but she’s not like an Angelina Jolie type or anything. Hell she’s not even Blake Lively! (I think alot of men are drawn in by Blake’s cheerful, leggy flirty blonde with cupcakes schtick.)
I just don’t think JLaw is any sexier or more alluring than Anna Farris. In fact I think they have similar appealing traits: Likable, talented, pretty, approachable, sexy but not in an OTT way, etc.

Bottom line: It’s silly to even speculate about this stuff. People cheat for all types of reasons.

      • Helo says:

@Keaton: Agreed. I mean, yeah, Lawrence is sexy but I really don’t buy the “temptress” vibe that STAR is trying desparately to sell, here.

Apparently, with regard to this bogus story, neither is anyone else. LOL!…Lawrence and Pratt haven’t even started filming yet!.

STAR takes two well liked actors, popular, succrssful, etc., both who give back, pay it forward, etc., (Jennifer Lawrence coming off terrific press about visiting sick children in a Montreal hospita) so the tabs have to come up with BS like this, for…what?…scrap the bottom of the barrel for crap no one is buying anyway.

  15. Heat says:

I find it especially refreshing that, instead of acting like it doesn’t bother her, AF acknowledges the tabloid stuff head-on, by letting everyone know: “You know what? This hurts.”

Love her and love them as a couple!

  16. Jess says:

Awe, this hurts me because she’s hurt, lol. I think she’s so sweet and funny and I love her honesty about it, they are the cutest couple and I didn’t believe those stories. They are obviously devoted to each other! I hope the story about him not doing love scenes is true, and I really don’t think I could be attracted to him or see him in a scene like that anyway, in my mind he’s Anna’s, it just wouldn’t feel right seeing him with someone else! Can you guys tell I love this couple? 😄

  17. ell says:

I like her a lot, but he annoys me.

I’m always a bit wary of couples who go on and on about their relationship and how good it is though.

  18. Sam says:

I always got the impression that these two know themselves, and that helps them. Most divorces seem like they happen when somebody gets restless. I think both Chris and Anna are really content. I’ve always gotten the impression that Anna has never aspired to dramatic leading lady stuff – she’s a damn good comedic actress and voice actress and she’s very happy to do that forever. And Chris is a goofy actor who happens to be having a moment but I think is at least smart enough to enjoy it now. They’re both in their niches and seem very happy with that, so I just don’t see them having a ton of issues.

  19. shannon says:

My money is on three more years together. Maybe.

  20. EN says:

The first impression of her is as very likable and charming, I only saw her once at Oscars.
I can’t say I like her though since she is married to Pratt and I don’t like him. So, I probably wouldn’t like her on closer acquaintance.
She looks like a classic mamsel in distress and I that makes me suspicious of her. I can’t shake a feeling that some of her personality is not real.

  21. justagirl says:

I know the general feeling is ‘we love him/her/them & those are nasty rumors’….but his refusal to ACT in a love scene seems a bit “doth protest too much”.

His faith is SO strong that he can’t do a love scene for his job, it’s not part of the public image he wants, because of his faith. And, he’s still ok hunting & killing animals for sport in his personal life, not concerned about that public image.

His faith is ok with that? It was renewed due to the survival of his infant son, and it says “no” to sex scenes but “yes” to killing for sport. It makes no sense.

People with really strong beliefs often keep them to themselves. People who needlessly volunteer evidence of how strong their morals are, or who won’t shut up about them (Swifty) are often posturing.

    • Anon33 says:

Unfortunately and not saying I agree but I think you could find millions of people who use religion to suppress their sexual urges but think hunting is ok…it’s basically the entire Republican Party.

    • lucy2 says:

To be fair I don’t know that Chris himself was quoted about that – so far it’s just a tabloid story claiming he won’t do them. And as with the tabloid story Anna is discussing here, they’re not always true.

  22. gilmore says:

I swear I heard online whisperings about her cheating during a cloudy with a chance of meatballs 1 press tour though. But after reading this I dunno if I buy that anymore, they seem solid.

  23. Andria says:

Am I the only one who feels like they might have more problems than they let on? I don’t know them (duh!), but in my actual life the people who work the hardest to show everyone how devoted they are to each other are, at minimum, trying to combat significant insecurity. More often, there’s a history of distrust or betrayal. Maybe they are fine, and I hope so, but they fit a pattern …

  24. FLORC says:

I like them as a couple. Very cute and very solid imo. I dislike them as individuals. Pratt I dislike more.
Anna has been droppping bits she’s learning how to cope with her husband being a boxoffice stud. The attention that comes with that. This could cause strain in the relationship down the road, but now? They’re fine.

  25. LA Juice says:

The tabloids are making shit up about people?

  26. Aila says:

I love Anna Faris and I hope she keeps doing comedies and stays happy and successful.

  27. Grace says:

I’m shocked that she thought tabloids were true… i mean, i know she wasn’t A list but she’s been around a long time – she must know that 80% of it is crap …….

  28. Pinetree13 says:

I love her but can’t stand him
