Would you like to see Carole Middleton getting boozy at a rugby game?

wenn22978565

I’m not much of a drinker these days, but if you forced me to sit through a live rugby/football/baseball game, I would probably need some booze. I can sit and watch tennis all day long, and I even enjoy watching basketball in small doses, but… yeah, I would need alcohol for certain sporting events. Maybe Carole Middleton is the same way. Over the weekend, the Middletons joined Prince Harry at the England versus Australia game at the Rugby World Cup. By “the Middletons,” I mean Carole, James and Michael Middleton were sitting very close to Prince Harry and his friends. And Carole was getting her booze on. The photographers got lots of photos of Carole glugging wine and looking sort of bleary-eyed and sh-tfaced.

Part of me just thinks this is funny. This is what we always hear about the Middletons, that they’re a fun bunch and that Carole enjoys a party and she enjoys getting hammered. I don’t know what the rules are for British stadiums and sporting events, but beer is perfectly acceptable at all American sporting events, so I doubt she was breaking any big rules.

Meanwhile, E! News has exclusive photos of Carole doing some shopping for Princess Charlotte. Carole was seen making the rounds on Kings Road, where she stopped in several kids’ clothing shops – go here to see the photos. I kind of wonder if this was a pap stroll. What do you think? Did Carole call up a photographer to get some images of Charlotte and George’s only grandmother doing some shopping?

Woman does more royal than some, so if she wants to get wobbly at a match…..give’r.

Tanna: wants to know if they paid for their tickets and Why they got them.

Twitter via@.Ikon(Tanna) to @APP_Editor But why would Middletons get freebies?

It’s stressful planning your daughter’s entire life. Even social “climbing” requires some stamina. 😉

    • WinnieCoopersMom says:

Exactly. Just ask PMK, except she does it x 5!

    • Pondering thoughts says:

It requires a lot of planning and Carole probably starts getting that Kate won’t be able to do the planning mostly by herself anytime soon. And then there are 2 more kids who seem to be a failure to launch.

    • Pipa says:

maybe coming back to bite in the b …. (with orders to ‘hands off’ PG/C). Pa midd seem very embarrassed (divorce may be near)

She stalked the limelight for this behavior, sitting close to Prince Harry, BRF to be seen (carol the meddletons stalking) with more popular Prince Harry.

  3. evermoreOriginalhere says:

Hell YES… I was laughing so hard. 🙂
Carole was enjoying herself. Rumors are out there that she DOES like her drink.

One time a few years ago the Daily Mail put a few lines in a article about how Carole was rather Enjoying the wine at an outing and showing it. LMAO.

Some reports were that Mike gave her a LOOK at some point , not sure why. LOL

I can’t get over how much Kate is starting to look more and more like her mom.

    • Mary-Alice says:

To me, the British drinking culture in general is a challenge and I’m European, we drink quite a bit too. Each time I go to England, specifically, I get drunk. It’s all those cocktails, a sip here, a sip there, before lunch, at lunch, after lunch, after tea, before dinner, at dinner, after dinner, at sports games, at cards game… I never make it.

  4. Betti says:

You can see the Pippa resemblance very clearly in these ones. Kate takes after her father.

    • evermoreOriginalhere says:

I think Kate is starting to look like Carole, but yes she does look like Mike too. She resembled Mike even more when she was younger but imo she definitely is taking on some of her mother’s look now.

      • Betti says:

Yes – Kate is starting to morph into her mother but that maybe because they have the same facial expressions and mannerisms. Kate has her fathers nose and eyes but the Mike resemblance is strong in George – kids a dead ringer for his grandfather.

    • FLORC says:

Kate has her father a nose. Pippa has her mothers IMO. You can see the bad skim they all share in these photos. I almost prefer a distant shot with some grit. Makes it tougher to edit.

    • Hawkeye says:

In that bottom photo especially, I see John Boehner!

  5. Splinter says:

Well, the one picture at the link with the paper bag is particularly classy. While having a drink during a game is pretty normal, I don’t think many aristocrats would be caught pouring wine from small bottles. But then again she was a stewardess.

    • FLORC says:

Say what you will about Carol’s behavior here, but to use a former respectable job makes no sense. It’s a desperate reach from any angle.
I hate flying and have done the same.

All that said, there was little discretion used for her liberal intake in front of cameras. She’s forever hyperaware with a pap and PR team on speed dial. It is a bit refreshing seeing the facade drop for only a short while.

      • Delta Juliet says:

I think it was a joke about the small bottle….not a shot at her former occupation.

      • FLORC says:

        Delta
I’ll take your viewpoint on this as we all know i’m horrible at viewing sarcasm.

      • evermoreOriginalhere says:

Why can’t the Middleclimbers just attend an event without using their Royal connections constantly? So sick of their using their connection.

    • Ruyana says:

Nope, I don’t want to see Carol getting boozy or even just walking around. I wish she would become a non-news item. I’m not British, but it seems she is the third-party in her daughter’s marriage……..never a good idea.

  6. antipodean says:

To be fair, the Aussies gave the English a bit of a thrashing, so she was probably drowning her sorrows. P.S. Go the All Blacks!

    • Vestalvirgin says:

Exactly what I was going to say. And it’s perfectly normal to have a drink at the rugby!

      Bring it home, ABs!

    • bluhare says:

Me too. I think it’s funny she brings her own rather than buying it though. Can you do that in Britain? Here you’d be searched and have it taken away.

      • Tina says:

She bought it there. That’s how wine comes at rugby matches, you get the little bottle with a plastic glass. You can’t bring booze in.

    • Kiwi Reader says:

Heck yes … but the ABs haven’t been playing as well as they could thus far.
I wonder if Richie will accept the offer of a Knighthood if they do bring the Cup home?

  7. Vava says:

You can certainly see they didn’t bother to photoshop those pictures.

  8. EN says:

When I see pictures of Middletons, they all seem like well adjusted social climbers ( ha-ha) except for the dad. The father has a permanent look of “how did I end up here?”, like he fell asleep and woke up in the nightmare and is just being taken along for the ride.

As for Carole, I admire her fortitude.

  9. Loopy says:

    LMAO she looks absolutely blitzed

  10. Jaded says:

She looks all kinds of rough in those pics – I guess avid social climbing takes its toll and requires many wines and much cigs.

  11. Nancy says:

And I bet Harry totally ignored the Wisterias.

    • G.F says:

There are photos of them talking and laughing. Would you think it was good to ignore your brother’s in-laws?? Seems even snobbier than calling people “Wisterias”.

    • Olenna says:

I saw pics of Harry chatting with the Middletons, too. He doesn’t seem like the type to play *snob* with his brother’s in-laws and is surely aware that it would make really bad press if he did.

      • evermoreOriginalhere says:

Harry knows to be personable to his brother’s wifes parents. He’s a nice guy, he would not be rude.

Why couldn’t The Middleton’s just get their own tickets and go to the game, Why does everything with them have to be IN THE ROYAL area or near the royals?

      • aurelia says:

I bet normal bill was at his fake job and gave the tickets to ma mids and co.= just to annoy Harry. I don’t think they get on anymore.

      • Betti says:

@Evermore – the Mids are well known for asking for/expecting freebies and do like to cash in on the royal connections. Queen Carole is just getting used to the life she expects to get when Willy takes the throne.

  12. evermoreOriginalhere says:

I just want Carole to get drunk one day and DRUNK Dial the Daily Mail.

  13. Louise says:

    Harry’s so fine though

  14. Lea says:

Something is definitely changing between these two. He seems to be so fed up with all the attention and Carole lives basically with her daughter. For months now there are rumors the Middleton marriage is on the rocks (if true it´s a shame cuz they are together for so long and seemed happy till Kate got the big price). Judging by the dad´s pissed face and how he tries to stay out of the limelight, it may be true that they have problems. Mike looks like the “leave the kids alone, they´re grown-ups and have their own lives. And please let this signet ring bulls#t”-guy

  15. WinnieCoopersMom says:

Now all we need are some boozy pics like this of Kate. Can you IMAGINE the comments? OMG.. and you just know she drinks behind the scenes

    • Betti says:

Both Kate and Pippa were well known party girls back in the day – Kate, when out clubbing (regularly) would spend at least an hour sobering up (and reapplying her make up) in the toilet before the pap walk to the cab. I believe there were even photo’s published of her in a club looking trashed.

    • evermoreOriginalhere says:

People on Twitter were saying Kate and her mom enjoy their wine when they spend the day together.

  16. claire 2 says:

She called the paps to snap pics of her shopping? Why?

    • FLORC says:

It’s been done before so exposure with a well placed narrative. Same as Gardner at the Farmers Market. The “just like us” theme. Carole has a history of this too.
I’m not positive she set this up though but it doesn’t hurt her.

      • anne_000 says:

If she had called the paps, it would have run counter to her alleged complaint that she doesn’t like people watching her shopping for things.

I guess it gives her plausible deniability that she isn’t it for the fame if she secretly calls in the paps.

      • Kiwi Reader says:

Talking of them … Garner and Affleck are selling their marital compound … asking price is $45m

  17. anne_000 says:

I think it’s OK to drink if you want a sports game (though someone at another site posted that you’re not allowed to bring in alcohol – though I don’t know if it pertained to this particular arena and game).

But is she a one-and-done mother? Isn’t her other daughter trying to get some rich man to marry her? (Pippa was photographed coming out the next morning with a bouquet of flowers from an [rich] ex-boyfriend’s, and she’s been seen hanging out with other [rich] ex-boyfriends and her supposed current boyfriend still hasn’t put a finger on it.) How will the possibly image-conscious, rich, and reputation-protective parents of a prospective husband feel about having Carole as an in-law? (Will the Duke and Duchess of Northumberland approve a union with their son and heir, George Percy?)

I believe Carole knew that there would be paps there photographing them or their general area, especially as Harry was sitting right behind them and he’s there working for his patronage.

Someone at another site said that Carole could have got her drink on at the bar instead of doing it in her seat in front of the paps, i.e. be discreet about it.

It just looks bad for Pippa’s sake that her mom is representing the family like this with her bringing in her drinkie poo in a paper bag, and she brought a cup too. I wonder if it was just a single cup. None to offer Michael? Did she even offer him a sip? Also, how come none of the other people around her have their drinks on too? Just her?

I guess what I don’t like about it is the possibility that she favors only one kid out of her three. I don’t like it when mothers pick and choose their one true favorite and expect the other kids to flounder on their own. Maybe I’m feeling some kind of empathy for Pippa and James?

Also, there are other photos out there showing Carole making over-the-top facial gestures at this game. Kind of like the dramatic, silly ones that Kate makes.

    • bluhare says:

Haha . . . . love the Freudian slip in there. Hasn’t put his finger on it? Poor Pippa. 😀

    • aurelia says:

You can take the girl out of the council estate (read Projects for our U.S readers) but you can’t take the council estate out of the gal. I bet Mike said it was below his dignity when cazza offered him a sip

  18. evermoreOriginalhere says:

I get sick of hearing how normal the Middeclimbers want to be. If they wanted to be Normal, they would NOT constantly request Royal seating at events? Since when do all in laws have to go to a place and have to be constantly seated in the vicinity of Royalty?

They are such users. Why not just go to an event without having to connect to Royalty? Why not just go and sit in regular seats like normal people?

They are such USERS! Even though the photos of Carole made me LOL.

  19. Vava says:

Kind of loving the photos. Carole should know by now that celebrities try to avoid eating and drinking when being papped. Maybe she doesn’t care?

    • evermoreOriginalhere says:

She has her grandson in line for the Throne, She has Kate a future Queen Consort, she has completed her goals and she has William in her pocket. She probably doesn’t care. She can show the world how really coarse she is, which I believe she is.

  20. Kiwi Reader says:

I was surprised that nobody around her seemed to be drinking or eating (the DM had photos of her breaking open a packet of potato chips) … I’d feel a bit weird about being the only one.

    • aurelia says:

Ha ha, then she got a bag of bloody crisps out next. Maybe she thought they might help to soak up the booze. Kate probably told her this old wives tale.

  21. kt908 says:

    whitetrash personified

  22. Citresse says:

Yeah in the last photo, Mrs. Middleton is feeling no pain. And it looks like she’s into red wine. Oh well, at least it’s (in moderation) heart healthy.

  23. MoonTheLoon says:

Would you have a look at those trousers she’s wearing in the shopping photos? It’s like William Frawley reached up from the dead and across the Atlantic with those Hostess Pants he bought Lucy in that one episode of I Love Lucy. LOL

  24. Elvie says:

She looks like Irene from Home and Away

  25. Pondering thoughts says:

    Happy families them are ;-DDD
Carole doesn’t look enthusiastic nor does Michael. I thought tennis was more their kind of game?

    I don’t mind the drinking.

  26. aurelia says:

LOZ just google imaged Irene from Home and Away. Some people on celebitchy are so funny.

  27. snapdragon says:

omg whoever said John Boehner — I can’t unsee it now!
