Madonna plans to build a home & girls’ school in Malawi

The rumors around Madonna aren’t going to quit any time soon. Many sources are reporting that Madonna will not take “no” for an answer when it comes to adopting little Mercy James. But some sources are reporting that Guy Ritchie and some of Madge’s friends are trying to convince her to give up the ghost. In either case, Madonna has her heart set on building a home in Malawi, according to The Sun.

Madonna has allegedly already purchased a plot of land in Malawi, and is having designs made for her future African home. Madge is also committed to building a girls’ school in the village of Chinkhota, which would likely be adjacent to Madge’s planned home. The Sun has more:

MADONNA is hoping to build a home in Malawi despite her application to adopt three-year-old local MERCY JAMES being refused.

Last week a judge turned down her bid to become the girl’s legal mother because Madge hadn’t lived in the country for 18 months.

Nevertheless, the chart-topper has instructed her architects to draw up plans for a home in the African country, as she believes adopted son DAVID BANDA would benefit from a connection to his birthplace.

I’m told: “Madonna has a big, beautiful plot of land over there already. She’s planning to build a girl’s school in the Chinkhota village and those designs are well under way.”

“But she’s gone back to the designers and asked if they could accommodate a family home on the plot or on adjacent land.”

From The Sun

So, a girls’ school and a family home, both in a third-world country? It’s like Madonna is not only trying to copy Angelina Jolie (de-mined home in Cambodia) but Oprah Winfrey as well, who runs a girls’ school in South Africa. Am I being too hard on Madge? Those Malawian girls who will be getting an education thanks to Madonna’s largesse won’t complain. Although, the Malawian girls’ school would likely be done with some sort of Kabbalah-influences, so who knows? If Madge really wants the home in Malawi, good for her. At the very least, she’ll stimulate the Malawian economy with all of the paparazzi who will follow her down there when she’s on vacation at her Malawian summer home.

Who is David “BANDA”? There is a David Ritchie. And no, his second name is not “Banda”….good for Madonna anyway.

  2. photo jojo says:

I really think the concepts of “Madonna” and “school for young girls” are mutually exclusive.

  3. meow says:

There were reports she is building on land taken from villagers there.

  4. anastasiabeaverhausen says:

All that money and she can’t get those roots done.

Anywho, I just want everyone to notice just HOW much she’s in the news lately due to all this. Awesome for her, huh?

    And that’s how it is.

  5. gg says:

This is great and all but I can’t get rid of the notion she’s just doing this to get Mercy after all because she CANNOT BELIEVE! she has been denied something she wants.

I picture at least six machete-armed security guards posted round her new place. Is it wrong to fantasize about a whole clot of paps being sliced to bits? 😉

  6. Bina says:

Dudes, she has those roots dyed brown on purpose, to show that she’s young enough that her roots still grow in brown, instead of white, as they would normally do for an older woman. Come on! Do you really think a woman as controlling as Madonna would not attend to every single little physical detail possible?

  7. Wow says:

These celebrities need to be very careful when taking on these projects of building school in third world countries. Learn from Oprah’s mistake and make sure the people hired to run the school aren’t shady or corrupt.

  8. pfft says:

Is she doing anything for the more than half a million children in foster care in this country – many of whom are available for adoption? Is she doing anything for the millions of children in this country who live below the poverty line? Of course not! That wouldn’t be exotic enough for the decrepit Evil Queen. She’s like some monstrous specter of darkness who tries to steal young children, like something out of a Grimm fairy tale. I hate her so very very much.

  9. BeautifulNahla says:

pfft what have you done to help America’s many kids in foster care??? Its easy to talk shit about someone who got off their butt and helped a very very poor country. Just because she isn’t putting her money and time where “YOU” want her to doesn’t make her evil. Get off your butt and do something for kids in foster care. Then you won’t have time to b*tch about what Madonna does with her money and time.

  10. lrm says:

    whatever,you guys.
Let her live her journey-even if she’s all control and illusion.
    let her figure that out.
I personally think it’d be great for all of her children to spend more time in Malawi;Africa’s an amazing place, and gives you alot of perspective as a human being-esp. good for children, not to feel sorry for other children, but to experience reality aside from constant media and technology. You know, put your feet on the earth-SO good for kids. Good for their minds, not just their bodies. I hope she does live there some of the time-will make the kids more tolerant, respectful and connected to themselves, not just David.
Yea,and it might actually help Madonna,as well.
I hope it doesn’t turn Malawi into Disneyland-would be my only serious concern.

  11. pfft says:

Not that it’s any of your business but I do donate to a number of charities, even on my incredibly modest income. I can assure you I would do a hell of a more if I earned 242 million dollars a year, as Madonna does.

  12. Orangejulius says:

Whatever her motives are at least some good will come out of this. We can bash away (she’s always seemed disgustingly slutty to me) but some kids in a third-world country will get an education as a result of her deeds and misdeeds.

  13. paranel says:

Is she serving Kabbalah or poor children? To me it sounds like the ultimate goal is spreading kabbalah not fighting poverty essentially.

  14. Valensi says:

Well at least those children are getting some opportunities, eh? Although I did have to sit here for a good few minutes and convince myself that what she is doing is very magnanimous.

Still, this story did reek of Oprah. Oh boy.

  15. Leandra says:

Those roots look gray, not brown.

  16. Cleveland says:

I wonder what the Madonna school of kabbalah will be teaching these young girls? How to make money with little talent, crotch grinding, and by pi**ing off conservative Catholics? How to cause made-up controversies to sell your albums to a gullible public? How to jump on every trend but pretend YOU got there first? How to pretend you care about others when ALL your narcissistic actions say otherwise? How to act holier-than-thou with a fake British accent?

Oprah has muchmore credibility than Madonna. To me, Madonna has always been about herself, and this latest controversy has only helped put her in the spotlight, which makes it business as usual.

  17. the original kate says:

WTF is madge wearing? she looks like she’s trying out for a role in the avengers or something.

  18. gg says:

I hate this too-small jacket look. Looks constricting. I blame Coldplay.

  19. Kat says:

Oh yea, bribe em, build something there. Show them your really interested in living there–NOT. Wonder if they will fall for it and let her adopt.

  20. david says:

Kaiser- yes you are being too hard on Madge. Good on her.. I don’t see AJ ever doing something like this, maybe JA though
