Kanye West was in NYC last night to win an actual award. This wasn’t a made-up thing, like here’s The Award For People Named Kanye West Who Think They’re Fashion Designers. The New York City for Footwear’s Annual Achievement Awards gave Kanye an award for Shoe of the Year for his Adidas Yeezy Boost 350. And Kanye was really pleased. While all of us in the cheap seats thought Kanye’s Adidas line made everyone look like refugees, the line did sell really well, so good for him. During his speech, Yeezy said many words about many things.
While accepting his award for Shoe of the Year thanks to the Adidas Yeezy Boost 350, Kanye West expressed his gratitude at his latest accomplishment. He also couldn’t help but acknowledge the exciting family news coming sooner rather than later.
“I’m waiting on my son to arrive any day now and I look at my daughter and I look at my wife and she’s rich and I don’t plan on being broke,” he joked to the audience Wednesday night. “I’m so, so focused on creating.”
According to guests, West spoke lovingly about wanting to create joy in designing shoes the way his daughter North West creates joy by jumping up and down. He also admitted that the design and concept first began after that all-too-memorable Taylor Swift scandal at the MTV Video Music Awards.
“After the infamous Taylor Swift moment, I did a little self-exile just to get away from paparazzi and have people not f–king with me constantly,” he shared. “First thing I did was go to Japan” where the brainstorming started.
As to his look for the evening, some were surprised to see the designer in casual attire for his latest honor. Sporting a black T-shirt and black jeans, West may have even caught some people off guard.
“I know a lot of you are thinking, ‘Where’s his suit jacket?'” he told the audience. “But if my wife’s not here, no suit jacket.”
Before the night was over, the designer had one final message that any Yeezus fan would appreciate.
“Your job is to create while you are here,” he shared with the crowd. “And if anything stalls that or gets in the way of that, we have to burn it to the f–king ground.”
I always find it amusing that Kanye is so impressed that Kim makes her own money. I would argue that since they’ve been together, she’s made more money than Kanye. And I enjoy the fact that he’s not emasculated by that – he LOVES that Kim makes money and has financial independence. So now he gets to be “creative.” Sure. I also don’t understand why Kim’s absence means he doesn’t have to wear a suit jacket?

It probably means she makes him dress up for her. Which is a hilarious thought, because picturing Kim enforcing her nonexistent will on big giant egomaniacal Kanye is comical.
Exactly. Assuming Kim ever had any personality (which is doubtful to begin with) it has vanished completely since she started dating Kanye. Honestly, if you look at Kim’s old photos, she was a bit trashy but always smiling and more natural. Now she is a wax figure, with an expressionless face and vapid eyes.
That’s not due to Kanye. That’s due to her increasing obsession with looking flawless in pictures. She also has said smiling causes wrinkles. Plus her face is so frozen with her overdoing of Botox and fillers, her face can’t move anymore. When she was crying over kris, I think it was kris, her face looked so messed up because it didn’t move. If you watch recent episodes, she looks ok from the front. From the side, though, wow–overdone.
The constant comments about her botox and fillers is really getting boring because there are so many of them. I think we know all this by now….getting repetitive to say the least. Apparently, they are a match made in heaven. They are both hard workers in business and have each become hugely successful because they are pros and marketing themselves and their products. He loves that she has her own money because he sees other guys who marry the bimbos with no money and pay the price later with huge alimony settlements.

He’s in love with her “image” and how she looks. I would love for someone to give these two a list of 20 questions they have to answer about each other. I wonder if they know each other’s fav food or fav color, movie, etc. I doubt it.

I think Kanye makes MORE money than Kim. He has royalties, a record label, artists he discovered and makes profits off, his clothing line. I ain’t saying Kim’s a gold digger, but she ain’t messing with someone who makes less money. 🙂

I’m trying to remember the last time (or first time) this man has EVER said that’s he loves Kim because she is a great wife / partner, she compliments his life, supports his endeavors, is a great mother, etc. Also, when has he ever said he loved his daughter because she’s a great kid, she brightens his life, makes him laugh, reminds him of himself at his age, etc. When has he expressed any type of real emotion towards either of them? With Kim, it seems like it’s all about her looks, her body and her money. All I can remember that he said about North is that she’s going to have a physique like her mom. This man has become so shallow, empty and superficial. What the heck happened to him? I truly wonder would things be the way they are, if Donda was still alive?

Yeah, he definitely designs them himself. Literally any other celebrity just stamps their name on it, but Kanye is a special case. He’s the greatest genius OF ALL TIME, with the greatest designs OF ALL TIME. No way he’d put his name on someone else’s design–any design other Han his own would be inferior!
PS: none of this is meant as a slam on Kanye, I actually like the guy (an unpopular opinion, I know).

Every time I think “ok, I see it. He has an appeal, maybe I can get on board with supporting some of his talents.” He opens his mouth, gets on his Givenchy soapbox and starts yapping his gums. I really Dont find his comment funny, and I consider myself to have a very flexible sense of humor.

Yes! I can’t wait till she has the baby and hides out for months, getting tweaked by her plastic surgeon. Unfortunately she will re emerge, saying the diet product she’s pushing and her intense workouts helped her lose the weight. But of course, she will have no muscle tone since it’s all a lie.
I’m far from a Kanye apologist, but I actually think it’s endearing that he’s so supportive of her career–whatever that might actually be. I’m not married, but my cousin and her husband are both lawyers and I find it incredibly sweet how supportive her husband is and how he constantly encourages her. When she put in a bid for judgeship, he was her biggest cheerleader. Women fought pretty hard to come to a place where we can become independent and I always like to see a man not only being supportive of that, but also attracted to it. Just my personal opinion. Glad to see it looks like he’s being a bit less egotistical.
Call me naive, but isn’t that what a committed partner does – support the carreer of their SO. I could not be with someone who was not supportive of my carreer.
Remember when Corey Gamble said in an interview that Kim and Kanye were not together that much? He said Kanye had a house in the LA area and Kim was living with Kris. I don’t entirely believe this relationship is 100% real.
I liked Amber Rose, and I like lots of things about her, but she has written a book which in the end says: you should use your body to get money from men. I do not condemn this, but I do not even like.

Kanye is exhausting and these days his “talent” bugs me. This is principally because seriously brilliant artists like Stromae do not get as much recognition for their work. Kanye wants to see a true artist he should “exile” himself to a dark room with a TV and just listen/watch to Stromae and also check out Buzzfeed and read about the smarts behind that man’s music. I really hate that popular culture is mostly dictated by the US because it drowns out the good stuff that comes from the rest of the world.

He needs to remember that before her “tape” came out she was doing NOTHING. She was a community college drop out married to a man 10 years older than him and living off HIS money. Then her father died, and she got some inheritance and her and her sisters opened their store (which by the way only became successful after her tape and reality show came out). It all still leads back to that damn tape. What would she be doing right now had it not been for that tape? Does Kanye really think Kim would have married him and had kids with him if he wasn’t rich already?

I just don’t understand how there are so many better designers and singers than him, that will never get recognition, and this guy gets applauded for every crap thing he does! He and Kim are indicative of what’s wrong in society today. Too focused on fame and money and nothing else…empty souls. They may make a lot of money but they spend a ton of it. They would have to roll in many millions for many years to come to keep up appearances.

I still think that Kim sees Kanye as legitimizing her and her family (getting them front row seats at A-list events) and Kanye wanted a family and to nix the gay rumours about him.
