In case you missed it, Elizabeth Olsen was back in LA on Monday night and she attended the premiere of Hail Caesar. I can’t find any photos of her walking the red carpet, but there were photos of Olsen ducking into the theater – go here to see. It looks like she went with Sam Taylor Johnson and Aaron Taylor Johnson. Aaron and Lizzie played brother and sister in The Avengers: Age of Ultron. Maybe they became close friends? The point is that she’s not currently in Australia, where Tom Hiddleston is filming Kong: Skull Island. But she has been to visit him on set, so I think they’re still together.
Meanwhile, Olsen has scored a new role and it sounds… odd.
Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen have been set to star in Wind River, a drama written by Sicario scribe Taylor Sheridan, who also is on board to make his feature directorial debut. Sicario producer Basil Iwanyk’s Thunder Road is producing this one with Peter Berg and Matthew George.
The pic, which begins shooting in March in Park City, centers on Cory (Renner), who works for the Fish and Game Department as a hunter of coyotes and other predators. Suffering after the death of his teenage daughter, he stumbles upon the raped body of a teenage girl frozen in the desolate wilderness. A rookie FBI agent (Olsen) who is unfamiliar with the terrain and weather enlists Cory to help her find those responsible.
As I mentioned last week, I watched Sicario during the Snowpacalypse, and I also watched Avengers: Age of Ultron (for the first time, sorry not sorry). I was pleasantly surprised that I didn’t hate Olsen as the Scarlett Witch, and I thought she did a decent job playing that kind of comic-book role. She’s usually doing these more off-beat indie roles, so it’s good to know she has some range. I liked-but-didn’t-love Sicario – it reminded me a lot of True Detective Season 1, and I thought the script was sort of overrated. Sicario was also dark as hell (dark subject matter), and I don’t know… I’m not really feeling Olsen’s casting here. Renner on the other hand? He might be a douche in real life, but he’ll do well in this.

Sounds a little bit like The Killing going off the synopsis. Pass. One of the reasons I had to give up on Criminal Minds was the ridiculously graphic murders and assaults of (predominantly) women.
On another note, is that Stella McCartney she’s wearing in the header photo? Jeez. Who lets those designs get manufactured?
It does remind me of The Killing, which I love, so I think this could be really good.

Sounds like Insomnia (1997) too! one of my favorite films, Stellan Skarsgard is supreme in it.
Well, it establishes that she was murdered and that she was killed by a predator. Since Renner’s character hunts predators and has recently lost a daughter of a similar age, I guess that is probably a key point in the story, especially if it turns out that his daughter died violently.
She’s really pretty. I can see the family features in her face but she looks healthy and bright. (I’m looking at you Michelle Tanner.)
She’s beautiful, but did she do something to her nose? Because it looks too small for her face.
There was a rumour floating around years ago that Mary-Kate had Elizabeth hooked on coke and her nose was so messed up afterwards that she had to have surgery (and she was barely legal at the time).

I’ve had a nose job so I’m pretty versed up on them and also really good at spotting them, even the good ones, and every time I see her it’s an instant ping on my rhinoplasty radar. She’s definitely had one, but it’s not particularly flattering. It settled down far too pinched/narrow and throws off the rest of her otherwise beautiful face.
I thought it was just me. Her nose job is distracting to me. Too pinched looking.

And she’s clearly had a nose job, but are there many actresses who haven’t? It’s like a prerequisite.
The only thing I ever saw her in was Avengers and I thought she was awful, both her and Aaron. Maybe I am just used to the other characters, maybe they had better lines, but between the two of them they almost ruined the movie for me. The fake accents, the constipated grimaces, both were horrible in these roles.
This is not a movie I would see anyway, but Sicario was well received, so perhaps another grimdark will do fine. As an aside, I just started watching Person of Interest to cope with the end of The Expanse and kill time between Blacklist episodes (way darker fare than I normally watch but so well written and he is so magnetic in the role) and boy, can’t believe I have missed it. The beauty of binge watching is you can stay up till all hours and see a whole season in two days😄

Same!!! I thought their accent work was horrid, they kept on jumping in and out of them (like Kate Winslet) and their acting wasn’t up to par.
Elizabeth and Aaron also did Godzilla together where they played a married couple. So I’m sure they are pretty close
Person of Interest is one of my all time favorite shows! It gets better with time too.
I thought the twins were the weakest part of Avengers AOU. Her accent was horrible and he’s rather forgettable. I hope Scarlet Witch continues to remain in the background as she appears to be again in Civil Wars.
I’m not particularly excited by this film and I liked Sicario. Maybe it needs more del Toro in it to inspire me to pay $$.
I’m going to say the opposite because I liked the twins the best, along with The Vision. Their accents were awful for sure though. Toss Claudia Kim’s scientist character in the like pile. Everyone else was phoning it in for the paycheck. The worst actor in that movie goes to Chris Hemsworth.
Jammy, I should have clarified that the twins were my least favorite among the newly introduced Avengers characters. Thor and Hawkeye are my least favorite among the original crew.
Agree on the Vision and the Doc, tho’ I think comic book fatigue is setting in so I don’t get terribly excited about any characters anymore.
My current favorite is Jessica Jones. Looking forward to season 2.
I’m glad that it looks like we’re done with standalone Iron Man movies. Captain America is the only ones I’ve liked, and I’m kind of over the big Avengers movies. Captain America feels like the only one with a real story going on because the rest are just a series of big explosions.
Bridget, Cap 3 is the only one I’m really excited about. I’m interested in Dr Strange, but need more info to get really jazzed about it.
Olsen was my least favorite part of the avengers movie. Bad accent. No personality. I wanted more cgi robot villian because the twins were awful as a source of drama/tension.

IMDB only has Renner listed so maybe Olsen isn’t locked in yet? I can see it works logistically, because it will film in March and April, then they can be paired up for press for Civil War at the end of April. It reads like a father daughter type relationship or, since it has the same writer as Sicario, maybe something like the Emily Blunt / Benicio Del Toro dynamic.
I think Renner’s actually the newer addition to the cast. Sometime mid-last year, maybe the summer, this film was reported as having Elizabeth ad Chris Pine attached but there was no IMDb page or information beyond news reports. I think it was up in the air schedule wise until Jeremy signed on and the rest of the cast was available, and now it’s ready to start filming.
I didn’t know that, but I did know that Chris Pine is staring in the writer’s most recent film and he has described that film, this film and Sicario as a trilogy exploring the modern American west. Also Renner has just filmed the follow up for Sicario’s director. All very cosy.
Doesn’t she have to do press at some point for I Saw the Light too? That opens wide on April 1.
Filming for this film starts in March, so it would be a problem to leave mid filming. I am not sure how their contracts work when the full release of a film is delayed for so long. Maybe she will just do a day or two in the US and leave the rest to Tom?
Aren’t they both filming in March? I would expect to see some print interviews coming out and possibly a phoner or two with country radio, but I’d be surprised if they do any in-person promo.
@Nutballs, both filming in March? What is he filming? The monkey movie should be done by the end of this month, very early March at the latest, and Thor doesn’t start filming until the summer, even though it is in pre-production now
I thought so too Lilac, but there were a couple of Asian news articles that said that the crew arrives there mid-Feb and that they’d be filming until the end of March. Was that debunked as rumor?

Don’t know but when Sony moved ISTL, they said that Tom would be available for promotion in March when he wasn’t available in November. They may be shooting through late March but that doesn’t mean the whole cast will be. He could be done by then.
I dunno. Perhaps the film schedule changed. Perhaps Sony was simply covering their asses in order to cover the real reason the release date was moved — it’s unfavorable response at TIFF and lack of Oscar consideration. Perhaps he’ll wrap by mid-March and get a week’s promo in. Regardless, it doesn’t look like he’ll be doing as much as we thought.
I did a little poking around some production websites today and Wind River (Lizzie’s movie) starts filming mid-March, through most of April – but Park City is only a 2 hr flight from LA so wouldn’t be hard to fly back to LA to do some press.
Most of the Vietnam news articles had KSI there through mid-March or longer- my gut says until 18th at minimum – but yeah, there’s no way to tell if the Tomster will be there until the very end.
Even if he his, there’s still time to do press for ISTL. CP had a huge promo push, but aside from the stops in Europe, most of it happened in 4 days in NYC. No reason to think ISTL would be anywhere near that high-profile, so 2-3 days max I would think.
As much as I thought consisted of little more than one or two talk show interviews, which is pretty much the standard promo for a film, with some possible music promos as well, because of Rodney’s status. One song is already available on itunes.
My hope was not so much an onslaught of interviews or whatever but enough time between Monkey Movie and Thor to get in something else, even if it were just a small supporting part in another small film or even another Joanna Hogg cameo appearance. And time for some theater when Thor is done.

Conceivably, there’s time for a small/short project – but I wonder if Marvel might have first dibs on his time this year. Even if Loki doesn’t feature much in Thor or Infinity Wars, they may have told Tom to keep his schedule free just in case.
Personally, I wouldn’t begrudge Tom a good long break after all the filming he’s been doing. Aside from a few weeks in July and August, he’s either been filming or doing promotion non-stop since March of last year, and 2014 was even busier.
@Dara, I though Thor3 would start filming in June but read the other day that it won’t start in Australia until July, even though Marvel starts pre-production on it in another week, immediately after Kong clears out of the studio. Of course, they could start filming somewhere else in June but if not, he will have a few months off after the Monkey movie. I don’t begrudge time off either but I would love some more product and he seems to choose interesting, varied projects.
Aaron and Elizabeth were also husband and wife in Godzilla, so they’ve worked together a couple of times.
I think she’ll do fine in something like this.

@ping – I’ll confess the wedding thought crossed my mind too, but I just can’t reconcile that possibility with my assumptions about Hiddles – I think he keeps his worlds (career, family, romance) pretty separate. I don’t think anyone is meeting clan Hiddleston unless they have long-term potential. Not sure Lizzie qualifies yet.

Even just getting a woman who, you know, would actually be plausible as an FBI agent. Has anyone ever looked at an Olsen and said, FBI, I can totally see that?
It makes sense to me that a rookie FBI agent would be assigned to a backwater office in the American West, and I can see that one that would get sent out to investigate if a body was found on government land nearby. Unlike on TV, I don’t think the Feds would actually bother to rustle up an entire task force for one murder.
But I can’t really see Olsen as an FBI agent either. Emily Blunt kicked a$$ in Sicario, but she and Olsen are very different types of actresses – and Blunt had already proven she had action chops in Edge of Tomorrow. Olsen didn’t really do a lot of action in Avengers AoU, she just stood there and waved her hands around.

The preview to Hail Caesar had me laughing out loud in the theater, which is something I rarely do. It’s on my to-see list.

I did not start the wedding rumour. I was just wondering about it. Seriously, why not? Who exactly knows if she was there or not? Those two have been banging each other for probably a year. She is following him to his sets around the world it seems while the majority of us actually believed her when she denied everything in September. We never believed that Jane would appear again and she did on that BB picture. Just because Hiddleston is not holding hands in public doesn’t mean that he is not dating anyone. Honestly I do think that Hiddleston and Olsen are dating and together. It is him who does not want to make it public. How do we actually know that these two haven’t seen each other way more than we all think? They have money. They can travel. And yes, if they want to, they can hide and not appear on the radar. I won’t be suprised if these two will show up together again. Not really. He won’t state that he has a gf. He did mention Susannah at the beginning of his career. I really think that he changed his image and won’t attend anything with girlfriends. May be a fiance or a wife…. But what do I know…..I really don’t want to spread rumours. I was just curious. Actually Hiddlebabies gestate very quickly, then float out gently on glowing, gossamer dragonfly wings, leaving the mother none the worse for wear and ready for filming. I mean, that’s just science.
I’ve also heard that the sudden onset of involuntary Shakespeare quoting is also one of the more common side effects of a Hiddlesbaby pregnancy.
I’m surprised that she’s not screeching out for Sam or Aaron whilst hiding behind a scarf doing amature dramatics like she did with Hiddles. In fact she’s smiling. Either Hiddles didn’t share dessert or he’s not a great play date like Sam and Aaron, which is why she hid and acted like a damsel in desress around a hot guy who couldn’t give two hoots about her (charming I know. he could told them to lay off ) .

Look guys I didn’t even know they were romantically link till I saw the photos on here and still don’t know if the fan photos of him with his arm around her came before or after.
But I’ve always admired as an avengers fan how Lizzy handled the paps and press even though her weird sisters were more famous than her. Lizzy always smiled and is polite to them even though she didn’t need to be and went about her business so it looked silly they took photos of her.
That’s why I was surprised how she was acting. Even if she is or is more than a friend to hiddles I thought her behaviour was very odd compared to normal.
Then I wonder what kind of person or friend is hiddles? If Lizzie who’s experienced more with paps acted out of character like that why didn’t her tell the paps to lay off? He needn’t be rude to them but firmly tell them to back off but instead he fiddled around with his phone and half ignored her to the point he looked very rude and disrespectful to Lizzie (friend or other)
i like them both but it didn’t bring out their best behaviour that night.
