Kanye West on Taylor Swift: ‘I just said what everybody else was thinking’

It feels like forever ago, but it was just this past February when Kanye West reignited his “feud” with Taylor Swift. They had a huge falling out, originally, at the VMAs in 2009. Then years of discontent, then they made up last year and seemed to be on very good terms. Then Kanye dropped his album The Life of Pablo, which included the song “Famous.” “Famous” has the lyric: “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / Why, I made that bitch famous / God damn / I made that bitch famous.” As everyone remembers, the whole thing exploded online, on social media and with dueling “sources” gossiping to various media outlets. Kanye always stuck to his story – that A) he was just saying what everyone was thinking and B) he asked for Taylor’s permission ahead of the album release and she gave him her approval. Team Taylor always disputed that version of events.

At the end of the day, Taylor saved her major reaction for Kanye by basically dedicating her Grammy to all of the sh-ttalking men trying to take credit for her work. My guess is that Taylor and Kanye are back to an informal Cold War. But Kanye’s trying to heat it up. At a concert this weekend (??), Kanye went off on a little Kanye rant/riff before he launched into “Famous.” This is what he said:

“This is the song that broke the writer’s block for me, because it’s something I wanted to say so bad that they told me I couldn’t say. That night when I went on stage was the beginning of the end of my life. Lady Gaga canceled the tour the next day. You know what night I’m talking about, when I just said what everybody else was thinking. So if I get in trouble for saying the truth, what’s being said the rest of the time? And I had to fight every day of my life, with the whole world turned against me, for saying out loud what everyone else felt. But that’s the job of an artist, of a true artist: not to be controlled by their finances, not to be controlled by perceptions, but only to be controlled by their truth.”

[From E! News]

While I am a Kanye Apologist – or at least I’m more of an apologist than most people – even I get tired of Martyr Kanye. I believe he’s a great artist, but I believe he would be an even greater artist if he didn’t have to constantly tell us that he’s the most hated, the most maligned, the most martyred, the most misunderstood. Maybe some of us do think that he just got up there and “said what everybody else was thinking.” And maybe out of all of that negative energy and blowback, Kanye rose up and produced what was probably his greatest album (My Dark Twisted Fantasy). So maybe Kanye needs to just learn how to let some of this sh-t go.

Here’s the video of his speech, NSFW for some language.

Taylor Swift’s name is still in his mouth. And all she keeps on getting is free publicity and gets to play the victim…I mean technically she is the victim in this case but it all fits into her “image.” Meanwhile Kanye’s career is just going down the hill.

    • Lex says:

I know! Taylor is probably so happy that he keeps talking about her and she doesn’t even have to lift a finger. Kanye, shut upppppp. Your opinions are all invalid until you break away from the kardashians.

    • Cran says:

There is no reason to apologize for Kany he is successful on a level the majority of people on this earth, future, present and past, will never achieve. He is able to work at a job he loves, again something most people on this earth, past, present and future, are unable to do. He speaks for no one other than himself.

      • Mare says:

Funny tho, he performed a concert but there is no review, just a mention of Taylor.

      • Smellsfishi says:

@cran I bet you Kanye can’t spell any of the words you just wrote. #success.

I honestly do agree with him though not about her video because I didn’t see it but that Taylor swift is a crappy artist, he is too, but he shouldn’t say it because his music is just as bad as hers.

I hope both of them stop this ridiculousness or if they continue they need to really get into to it and cause a sh-t storm, rather than being little b-tches about their issues and not really going after one another.

      • swak says:

I taught and thoroughly loved the job. And believe me when I say it wasn’t because of the money.

  2. Nancy says:

He just won’t let this party end. It wasn’t his thoughts, it was his action to interrupt her on the stage that made this never ending moment. He must have a lot of time on his hands, seven years ago. Go buy Kim a new ass or something.

    • Kelly says:

“Go buy Kim a new ass or something.”

Made me laugh. That would definitely keep him busy.

    • Jegede says:

“Go buy Kim a new ass or something”. LOL

    • Erica_V says:

YES 100%. No one was mad about what he said, it was his actions and it’s so stupid he still does not realize that.

    • Tiffany :) says:

      So well written, Nancy.

It wasn’t that he disagreed, it was that he felt he HAD to pee on someone else’s parade in order to share his thoughts. Kanye was drinking straight from the bottle that night. But no, it wasn’t a poor choice on his part, it was everyone else who was trying to victimize him. Give me a break, fool.

      • Trillion says:

Reminds me of his wife: She thinks she’s a controversial , important and maligned because she put (another) nude photo on instagram. She doesn’t realize (or want to realize) that people are mocking her because she’s lame.

  3. Lizzie McGuire says:

No one was thinking that, Kanye.

Look I liked Kanye, I went to one of his shows a few years ago. Does he have a big ego? Oh please of course he does it’s Kanye. But also we keep holding those other albums saying he’s such a great artist, what I’m not okay with is that he keeps talking about T.Swift & Amber Rose. T.Swift can be as annoying & whatever controlling superficial thing she is but she didn’t deserve what Kanye did to her, not then not now. Same with Amber Rose & tweeting about her kid. Can’t keep defending someone like him.

    • Pinky says:

Hmm. Well, I sure was thinking it. And agreed with him then and now. He should probably close up that well for his own good but, yeah, T Swift’s video was/is nothing but Beyonce’s? GOAT (or close to it).

      –TheRealPinky

      • K says:

Whether what he said was true or not his actions where wrong. His behavior was despicable and put both Taylor and Beyoncé in a bad position. Yet he continues to disrespect and disregard this women and the embarrassment be caused them and plays the victim. He wasn’t a victim he was WRONG.

This wasn’t something serious it was an MTV award, Beyoncé is fine without the winning it didn’t hurt her career. Taylor would have had the same career without the stunt or win.

He is just a sexist ass who wants to think he can claim credit for this women’s accomplishments.

      • noway says:

You were thinking Beyonce’s video was “the greatest video of all time” or you were thinking that Kanye made Taylor Swift famous? Beyonce’s video was good and probably deserved to win over Taylor’s that year, but Greatest of All Time is really just an opinion, and Kanye to presume EVERYONE thinks his way is the height of ego. My opinion would be if you think Beyonce’s video was Greatest of all Time you need to expand your horizons, because not even close. Just your type of music and vision. You know even Kanye learned this a bit with his rant on Beck. He listened to a more humble performer and realized this guy is really talented, maybe not his choice of music but still amazingly talented. Now Kanye making Taylor famous has even less validity than Kylie making wigs happen. That is just a crock of his ego spilling over.

      • jeanpierre says:

I think he was right for Beyoncé video, and he is right about Taylor now. But he better give it a rest, people just can’t hear that.

      • Wren says:

I thought it too for a brief moment, then I didn’t care because seriously why should I?

Kanye is the classic example of someone who thinks that everything that comes into his head should come out his mouth, and moreover, everyone should listen and agree. He’s obviously been stewing over this for a long time, but instead of writing in a journal or blubbering to a friend over a few beers like a normal person, he’s still ranting about it in public. So maligned, much butthurt.

This is getting ridiculous and he needs to shut up.

      • SKF says:

I have to say: he was 100% right. Beyoncé made one of the most iconic clips of all time and something completely forgettable won over it. It was bullsh*t. Also, he probably did make Taylor more famous with the ensuing controversy. However, he really needs to stop making derogatory comments about women. It’s not cool. He needs to learn that you can’t just act out like a toddler does. Give opinions in a smart way and people will listen more to the opinion itself and react less to the way it was given.

      • Tiffany :) says:

Personally, I liked Beyoncé’s video more than Taylors…but it’s just a STUPID VMA! It isn’t the be-all and end-all of pop culture judgment. I couldn’t even name you who else won an award that year, or this year! He looks so dumb making such a big deal out of such nothing.

      • Fiorella says:

Tiffany is right- the video is better but no one thinks about vmas period. Maybe teens but since Beyoncé is older than me they probably liked Taylor that year

      • kanyekardashian says:

What is GOAT supposed to mean? Are you that intellectually lazy that you can’t just SPELL out what you’re trying to say so that your comment actually means something? You abbreviators are so damn annoying.

      • LAK says:

Beyonce’s video isn’t the greatest video of all time. It’s a copy of a Bob Fosse skit from the Ed Sullivan show, dance moves, camera angles and all. And it’s styled like a Bob Fosse visual, down to the leotards and black/white film.

Many of Beyonce’s videos lift choreography from other artists assuming that the world is ignorant about them and won’t notice.

I’m a Bob Fosse fanatic, and I noticed, as did many other people.

Was her video better than TS’s video? Perhaps. But her video isn’t the greatest nor was it original.

    • V4Real says:

“No one was thinking that, Kanye.”

Speak for yourself. I was thinking it. If you’re referring to what he said about Beyoncé having a better video than Taylor Swift. And I wasn’t the only one in agreement with him.

What I don’t agree with is Kanye storming the stage and minimizing her win. That was rude and disrespectful. I was glad that Bey gave Taylor the opportunity to come back on stage and give her speech. But something tells me that inside Bey was like Kanye you’re right, my video was better but you just don’t do that.

      • FingerBinger says:

It happened in 2009 it’s time for Kanye and everybody else to get over it. Beyonce seems fine about it.

      • Lizzie McGuire says:

I wasn’t thinking it because that was the MTV awards not the Grammys, it’s MTV. Like K said I’m sure Beyonce could care less about an MTV award, doesn’t affect her at all if she wins it cool but she wasn’t going to lose any sleep because of it. He made a big deal out of nothing. It’s like fighting for a People’s choice awards, do you really think someone award nominated is going to care if Zac Efron wins a best actor award over him/her?

Taylor was already having success when this happened & she had a following, what Kanye did was emphasize what an as*hole he is/was. It did benefit her because everyone felt sympathy for her around that time. She could’ve faded out soon after but she did put out good albums after that “Kanye incident” so it’s not all thanks to Kanye that TSwift is where she is right now. He doesn’t deserve that.

      • noway says:

Kanye doesn’t seem like the type of guy to get over anything, but I agree with your sentiment. This happens at all award shows too. At least every couple of years someone wins who we all go WTF? Not saying this was with Taylor, but still not like a surprise.

      • lucy2 says:

Agree noway. Every time there’s an award show, there’s someone somewhere who thinks a win should have gone to someone else.
And I think it’s fine to express an opinion on it, but not to to what he did and continues to do.

      • Tris says:

I wasn’t (thinking it, that is). Speak for yourself, indeed.

      • V4Real says:

        @Tris

As you can see I did speak for myself and so did some others. What’s your point sweetie?

@Lizzie I get that you weren’t thinking it but you can’t honestly say no one was when you can clearly see by this post alone that other’s felt similar to Kanye.

      • Dlo says:

@vreal it is a dumb awards show from several yes ago, let it go

      • V4Real says:

        @Dlo

All these people commenting on the same thing yet you single me out to say let it go. That’s interesting.

      • Magnoliarose says:

I was thinking it too. Maybe his execution was over the top but I wasn’t as enraged as others seemed to have been.

    • Petee says:

      Couldn’t agree more K.

    • JenniferJustice says:

I agree. Should Taylor have won best video? Probably not. Was Beyonce’s better? Probably, but was Beyonce’s the best video of the year? No. Is Beyonce the greatest hip hop artist in today’s music industry? Hell No! That’s right up there with Whitney Houston declaring at the music awards that Bobby Brown is the greatest hip hop artist in the world. Those opinions are not only biased, but self-serving. So, no everybody was not thinking what Kanye was thinking. It wasn’t just his actions. He has got to the be the biggest brown noser that ever graced the awards stage.

    • Trillion says:

Greatest Of All Time. Now you know.

    • hayley says:

That’s what I was thinking. EveryWHO else? West is always going to be lost without his mother around telling him he is the messiah. Sheesh.

  4. Abbott says:

I mean… I did say what many of us were thinking, but it’s time to let it go, dude. You’re only playing into her victim narrative.

    • HH says:

Exactly. We did all think that, but how it was executed was piss poor.

Also, Kanye did not reignite his feud with Taylor with that lyric, supposedly. Rumor has it that Kanye and Taylor were on the phone from an hour to an hour and a half, talking about the lyric and she approved it. When he found out she issued a statement and reneged, that is why he said “Taylor Swift and her fake a**!” at SNL. Now, I heard this on a podcast with two pretty reputable people, Charlamagne tha God and Van Lathan from TMZ. I’m more inclined to believe them since Kanye seems to have gotten decently chummy with Taylor, and I never saw him writing that without asking her. Kanye sucks, but I don’t see him being so malicious to people he actually has a relationship with.

      • vilebody says:

I have seen very few ex’s (at least in Hollywood) behave as maliciously as Kanye West has to Amber Rose.

      • Jwoolman says:

It is highly unlikely that she approved the full lyric in context. He could possibly have told he that her name was going to be in the lyric but was vague or misleading about the details, and the rest of the conversation was about his kids or something else. Kanye is simply not a reliable source. He claimed that he was in personal contact with the U.S. President, too, claiming that Obama had his home phone number. Obama even took the trouble to deny it. Kanye in his manic phase just imagines a lot of things and it gets embedded in his brain as reality.

      • HH says:

        @vilebody – Agreed, but that’s post relationship.

@Jwoolman – I think that it’s a possiblity the lyric wasn’t explained in full context; or, Kanye tweaked something. But I would disagree that the entire scenario was made up. Supposedly, Swift was in on the joke.

    • vilebody says:

      I wasn’t thinking it.
Is anyone else on this thread annoyed that everyone assumes that it is Taylor who plays the victim? She has pretty much only talked about empowerment for the past 2-3 years yet it she, and not martyr Kanye, who apparently loves to play the “victim card.” The girl can’t win.

      • Fiorella says:

Good point-and aren’t the kardashians good at using victim drama to get famous? I don’t Really follow them so not 100% sure

      • V4Real says:

If you’re a frequent reader on C/B you will know that people accuse Kanye and others of playing the victim as well. You would also know that many of us on here don’t like Kanye. People are not just talking about Taylor playing the victim about the Kanye situation but with other things as well. She has tried to play the victim with Nicki Minij and Katy Perry just to name a couple. Taylor also tries to launch subtle attacks. Who do you think that Bad Blood song and video was directed at?

      • vilebody says:

        @V4Real
I actually am a frequent reader here and think that Kanye gets way too many passes, whereas Taylor gets hammered for the tiniest details. For example, she thought Nicki’s tweet was directed at her (which was understandable), so she replied. When Taylor realized that it was a larger tweet on race and inequality, she apologized. I’m not seeing a crazy victim complex there.

As for Bad Blood, I unapologetically love the song–I mean, how many other women have written songs about their careers? There are so many times women are taken advantage of in the workplace because it’s assumed they won’t speak up. The line “remember when you thought I’d take a loss?” has literally helped my career. And the reason I didn’t speak up before? Because I was afraid I would come across as either catty or as “playing the victim card.”

There’s a difference between fighting back and playing the victim. Sure, Taylor employed the latter when she was young and boy-crazed, but I really think she’s matured. It sucks when people dislike a person so much they won’t differentiate, even when it’s warranted.

      • Priya says:

        Seriously. It’s really bizarre.

      • Priya says:

Seriously. It’s really bizarre. It’s weird.

    • Josefina says:

Other than her Grammy speech, Taylor hasnt even talked about this. Why does everyone insist she’s playing the victim here?

      • dAsh says:

Because it’s Taylor Swift. Almost everybody here hates her. I mean, even jumpshots photos of her friends on IG gets called staged and fake when non celebrity people do it all the time. She can find a cure for cancer and everyone will still think she’s just vying for attention.

      • noway says:

@dAsh you are absolutely right. The reality is Taylor’s fanbase and celebitchy commenters aren’t the same people. Someone on here also thought that Kanye’s rant made her more famous, maybe to the few who watch MTV awards but aren’t Taylor Swift fans, but come on facts don’t support you on this. This was also her pre-pop days when she was slightly country too. Supposedly Taylor is on a break for this year, but I heard on the radio her album is still producing so many “hits” that it seems like she hasn’t gone. Now I am not a big Taylor fan, but my 14 year old daughter is. I find her harmless and bubble gum music I used to listen to at 14 too.

      • Smellsfishi says:

@dash I would think if Taylor found a cure for cancer she’s definitely doing it for attention because she’s a music artist not a doctor/scientist.

As far as everyone getting mad at each other about who was thinking it and who wasn’t, just be smart and realize not everyone has the same opinion as you, I agree with Kanye that Taylor is a bad artist and that some not all of what he did, did help a little in the fame department. I mean for those who might not know of their past, people will see this and this will bring more fame to them. Wether you were thinking what Kanye was thinking or wasn’t, it doesn’t matter, don’t speak for everyone, we think different things because we’re different people.

And by the way I don’t like Kanye nor do I like Taylor. They both suck in my opinion.

    • Carol says:

He may be a great artist, but he is still a weenie. Not a weenie for thinking Beyonce had a better video, (please who the F**K cares anymore) but a weenie for storming the stage and blah blah blah. And for all the other weenie things he says and does.

  5. paolanqar says:

    What a condescending, patronising a-hole.

  6. OSTONE says:

Seems like Kanye needs Taylor more than Taylor would ever need Kanye. He cannot let it go and continues this ridiculous “feud”.

  7. SilkyMalice says:

People that are only controlled by their version of the “truth” usually belong on anti-psychotics.

  8. Nev says:

    Awesome album!!!! Yayyy Kanye.

  9. Hadleyb says:

I wasn’t thinking that, so no. GO AWAY.

  10. Darkladi says:

    You still talking, bro?😒

  11. swak says:

Can we grow up now? Why are we stuck in high school with all the drama? Makes me wonder if the rest of his life (private, clothes designing, etc) is going down hill also. Sounds like he’s setting himself up to play the martyr in other aspects of his life.

Also: “But that’s the job of an artist, of a true artist: not to be controlled by their finances, not to be controlled by perceptions, but only to be controlled by their truth.” Not to be controlled by their finances – so why are you begging people to give you a billion dollars? And you’re right – “their truth” not necessarily the real truth. Remember there is his story and her story and somewhere in between is the real truth.

  12. NewWester says:

Maybe Kanye is jealous of all the attention Rob and Blac Chyna are getting? He wants all the attention back on him and Kim

  13. Loo says:

Kanye really needs to get over it already. His obsession with Swift is so obnoxious.

  14. The Eternal Side-Eye says:

No Kanye, you said what you were thinking.

You didn’t make her famous. She is and always has been more famous than you. THAT’S what you were thinking. That another woman went off and had a successful life without your permission and you actually got blamed for your actions.

It must have really made you mad over the years how she went on with no fucks to give while you torpedoed your career for almost a full year. But that’s arrogance. You can’t live in a world where Taylor is successful because of Taylor because then that means you’re not really as powerful as you like to imagine you are. Same with Amber.

So what did you do? You did it again. Bring up a point no one was thinking of in an effort to finally feel ‘right’ and torpedoed your reputation all over again. A narcissist just can’t help it.

  15. Rhiley says:

The snow glows white on the mountain tonight Not a footprint to be seen
A kingdom of isolation, And it looks like I’m the queen. The wind is howling like this swirling storm inside. Couldn’t keep it in, heaven knows I tried! Don’t let them in, don’t let them see. Be the good girl you always have to be Conceal, don’t feel, don’t let them know. Well, now they know!

(All together now): Let it go, let it go Can’t hold it back anymore
Let it go, let it go. Turn away and slam the door!

  16. KLM says:

I can be a Kanye apologist too but I’m bored of his whole “I’m an asshole and everyone hates me for being me but I’m a true artist because of it” thing. Like we get the point. Just make your music and shut up.

I do find it hard to believe some people don’t think the spotlight shone just a little brighter on Taylor after that incident though. I’m not saying he made her famous but the outpouring of pity and support she got after that did have an impact on public perception of her in my opinion.

    • V4Real says:

      I agree, it did.

    • vauvert says:

Even if that is the case (although I seriously doubt that people went and bought her following albums because they were feeling sorry for her) – she was the victim. She didn’t ask for it, it ruined a pretty big moment for a young woman who had done nothing wrong. Whether the award was deserved or not – and that is so subjective – it was incredibly rude, arrogant, unprofessional and mean for this jerk to do what he did. And he STILL can’t shut up about it already.

    • FingerBinger says:

@KLM Taylor Swift had the top selling album that year. Kanye West didn’t make her famous or more famous. She was doing fine without his help.

      • Cali says:

        This!

      • Tiffany :) says:

I think she also had the top selling album from the year before as well, though I might be wrong. But you are totally correct, she was a huge and incredibly successful artist before Kanye’s rant.

    • Josefina says:

“What everyone was thinking” oh Kanye just shut up. It was a god damn VMA. Most people dont even care about those.

    • noway says:

Maybe to us old people who felt sorry for her, but to her fans don’t think this had anything to do with her success. He certainly didn’t make her, and if he did don’t you think he would make himself a bigger more profitable star. She made like 80 million last year. He can throw all he wants about not doing it for financial means, but then you marry a Kardashian and all your words seem hollow.

    • Magnoliarose says:

      I agree with you.

    • Pepper says:

Living outside the US, in a place where country music, even poppy country music, is very, very unpopular, it was the first time I heard her name. I’d heard that Love Story song, but had no idea who sung it, figured it was some Disney kid.

I think it had quite a big effect overseas, as her music was only really known by tweens in a lot of world pre Kanye rant. After that adults knew her name.

  17. Jen says:

It’s just easier for him to blame Taylor/Amber/Whoever than to blame Kim for his career decline. But seriously, Kanye: nobody is going to take you seriously while you’re married to FrankenButt.

    • Erinn says:

No – Kim is not at fault for his career decline.
Kanye is at fault for his career – full stop.
HE is a grown man who makes his own decisions. Kanye was on the decline before marrying Kim, and nobody held him at gunpoint and forced him to marry her.

      • Josefina says:

This so much. He was a douche before he met Kim. He’s always been.

      • Priya says:

This is true! My god, when will Kanye take responsibility? He’s not even being real. He’s lying to himself.

I wish people wouldn’t bring Kim into this. She’s not at fault for her husband’s behavior.

  18. Jen43 says:

I used to think he was a smart, talented guy with integrity. Now I think he’s a dimwitted fame whore of average talent. His career is the martyr. He’s a willing participant in his downfall.

  19. Jsilly4e says:

I’m sorry I don’t believe everyone was thinking that. But when you’re a narcissist you think that way. Now in his mind he’s being tortured because he was keeping it real. I’m sorry, but his behavior is atrocious and if it does take away from his success an artist that’s on him. I’m sick of the apologists for him. Because he makes great music (I really do like some of his stuff) doesn’t give you the right to tear down other people. And like Taylor Swift or not you can’t just say oh well he made her famous so she should be happy and you know celeb egos, etc. Nobody deserves to be talked negatively about. I just don’t understand why people want to give him a pass. I love Morrissey’s music but I never give him slack the way he’ll talk about other artists and people. I will only say I like Kanye’s music and I like Morrissey’s music but they’re narcissistic jerks.

I just don’t understand this new love for people that are insulting and nasty and people are like “oh I love them! They say it like it is! They have no f*%*# to give” When did being a nasty, grumpy jerk become admirable?

    • noway says:

Not sure, but it does seem like a bit of the world according to Trump. Don’t people realize that these nasty mean people could just as easily turn on them. I thought people figured this out after middle school.

      • Jsilly4e says:

So true. I don’t mean to sound all cantankerous and get off my lawn and all, but I don’t find being disrespectful, vulgar and nasty admirable qualities in anyone. I just hate that it seems to be so commonplace now.

  20. GoodNamesAllTaken says:

I wonder what Kim thinks about him saying he might have sex with TS? Not that I really care. He is just a has been, a victim in his own mind, nobody I care about as an artist or a person.

  21. TheGrandSophy says:

‘So if I get in trouble for saying the truth…’

See, that’s just it, Kanye. You weren’t some shining beacon of ‘truth’. You were rude , disrespectful and made an arse of yourself. Some people may have agreed with you, some wouldn’t have. However, all the other attendees had at least the basic good manners and common sense not to do what you did. Having an opinion is not necessarily the ‘truth’, it’s just an opinion.

So in response to your statement that you were speaking the truth Yeezus, I say to you, echoing words that were spoken over two millenia ago, ‘What is truth?’

(Sorry – given that he thinks he’s the second coming, I thought Pontius Pilate’s words were especially fitting here. In no way do I think this man is the second coming (or first) of anything).

N.B. Not mocking Christians or their founder at all as I am one of them. 🙂

  22. Kimbers says:

I’m just gonna state the obvious. He didn’t make an artist who already had #1 hits famous by getting S-faced drunk and stomping on stage after she had already won a couple awards. people knew who she was even if he didnt. . .ya media got a good story of mr kardashian making a fool of himself pre-kim and some older people got watercooler talk, but taylor had already had a fat fan base, so no he didn’t make her famous he just introduced her to people who didnt listen to pop radio, country or have girlfriends. He’s such a J-a$$.

People dont like him bc he has a fat mouth and thinks his words are erasable.

  23. Anaya says:

Umm how the hell does Kanye know what EVERYONE was thinking?🙄Does he mean everyone he knows or the entire VMA audience or the whole world at large? He can’t speak for everyone. For him to believe he did is absurd.

Kanye would loose it if someone hopped on stage to protest his win. He had no right to do that to Taylor nor anybody. His obsession with her and his obsession with that infamous moment is beyond comprehension at this point.

He needs to move on from this. It was a bad moment for both he and TS. Stop bringing it up year after year. By the way, I don’t feel there’s any kind of low key war between these two. It’s all coming from Kanye. If TS responds that is because she’s well within her right to defend herself from whatever KW said about her. But it’s better if she no longer responds to his rants. Just leave him looking like the fool he is.

  24. mellie says:

So, I just wonder what real rappers think of this jerk. Like NWA members, Too Short, artists like that who actually rapped about real problems, while this dumbf— raps about Taylor Swift and complains about his fashion line.

  25. SBS says:

Obviously “everyone” was not thinking that. Besides it’s not like Beyoncé went home empty-handed, she got the biggest award, Best Video.

  26. Kelly says:

He is such a joke. The TS issue, the yawn-worthy, atrocious clothing line, Kim, Kim’s new look, Kim’s prostibot look.

  27. me says:

How can he possibly think he knows what everyone else is thinking? Not everyone worships Beyonce the way he does. He needs to stfu already.

  28. Jwoolman says:

Why is he so obsessed with Taylor Swift? You would think they were big competitors and if someone bought her music, they would buy less of his music. First of all, music doesn’t work that way, buying an album isn’t like buying a house or car. You can listen to music from both X and Y, it’s not an exclusive X or Y situation. They don’t even operate in the same music markets and so there may not be a lot of natural overlap between their customers.

He was drunk at the original incident, has admitted in public that he was drunk, and even has admitted (on Demon Mother’s short-lived talk show) that it was a jerk move. Why is he trying to defend it again? Just say sorry and move on. Instead, he keeps repeating the weird behavior focused on Swift.

  29. Cali says:

He’s more entertaining when he gets all angsty about us peons not understanding his fashion genius.

I just can’t with this guy anymore. He’s lost his mind.

  30. DrMrsTheMonarch says:

Anyone who has to trash women to get publicity isn’t worth listening to.

When Kanye West obsesses over Taylor Swift (Amber Rose, etc.,) and trashes her for publicity, it is wrong.

Not sure why people think it is okay for KW to use women like they are expendable, without their permission, as though their only value is in their use and abuse.

    • Mulligan says:

I mean, I agree with what you’re saying, but Taylor has also trashed women publicly.

  31. TJ says:

Why is he so obsessed with her? It’s funny.

    • Erica_V says:

Your comment just made me think of Mariah Carey’s “Obsessed”. Such a great track.

  32. jh says:

Famous is one of my favorite tracks from The Life of Pablo. Honestly, the album is great from beginning to end.

  33. Heat says:

Kanye West is the Donald Trump of rap.

  34. Pandy says:

God, he’s a bore! Wake me up when he and Kim are dunzo. THAT will be when his rants and delusions finally become interesting.

  35. Triple Cardinal says:

“I’ve had to fight every day of my life, with the whole world turned against me…”

That’s not ego talking, that’s paranoia. He should be evaluated — quickly. This man needs a therapist.

  36. Ayra. says:

I was 12 at the time of the VMAs, I remember staying up and watching it.
I was also a fan of Taylor, I loved her music. She was doing INCREDIBLY well that year, her songs were topping the charts, her album was number 1, she later won her first(?) Grammys. So no Kanye, people knew who she was.

  37. Kri says:

Like so many of you guys, I am tired of the same old crap.Is he saying that he’s still being punished for this?! My God dude, get a grip.A true artist makes new art, discovers new concepts, reinvents themselves.Kanye is talented but he is his own worst enemy.and I have a hard time getting lectures from ANYONE even associated with the K Krew, nevermind bound to them.

  38. Skywayke says:

All I can imagine anymore when this jerk mentions her is Taylor wearing a sleek top hat and tails and a tiny wittle Kanye hanging on to one of the tails for dear life shouting “HEY TAYLOR, IMMA LET YOU FINISH….BUT I GET IN THE NEWS WHEN I MENTION YOUR NAME!!”

    lol….

  39. majicou says:

He’s famous and a millionaire, so he’s not going to learn anything or change anything.

  40. Magnoliarose says:

Kanye doesn’t understand it is ok to have thoughts and not share them. He seems to become obsessed with things and can’t let it go.
He needs to produce only for awhile and get himself together.

  41. JMO says:

He’s a fool! So jealous of others success and wealth Kanye can’t stand it so he insults. This includes companies in the fashion world, no wonder he’s in deep debt. I do believe Taylor’s bank is much more than his net worth. And she doesn’t beg for others money. Maybe she should consider showing respect in the fashion industry rather than bashing them.

Not to mention he ran the exact same fashion show two years in a row… Laughable.

  42. sauvage says:

I don’t give a f*** about Kanye’s opinion. Having a conversation with people suffering from Narcissistic Personality Disorder, correction: listening to the monologues of people suffering from Narcissistic Personality Disorder, is just boring beyond belief, and Kanye West sure is no exception to that rule.

    Just go away.

How many narcissists does it take to change a lightbulb? – In theory, only one, but that one will just stand there, waiting for the world to revolve around him.
