One of the reasons why the Tom Hiddleston-Brie Larson romantic rumors never really took root was because Brie has been in a quiet but happy relationship with Alex Greenwald for several years. Brie and Alex don’t walk red carpets together, but they manage to find a way to support each other without making it into some kind of Gwyneth Paltrow-Chris Martin situation, with one party studiously avoiding photo-ops, etc. Alex was Brie’s date to the Oscars, and he was her date to many events this year, he just didn’t walk the carpet with her. It seemed nice, like they weren’t famewhoring their relationship but they weren’t crazy touchy/sensitive about it either. Anyway, good news: Brie and Alex are engaged!
The year just got even better for Brie Larson: the Best Actress Oscar winner is engaged to boyfriend Alex Greenwald, her rep confirms to PEOPLE. Larson, 26, and the Phantom Planet singer, 36, have been dating for several years. Greenwald was frequently by the actress’ side on the 2015-2016 awards circuit, during which she won numerous honors for her performance in Room.
Before getting a special shout-out during her Academy Awards acceptance speech (“Alex Greenwald, I love you”), Larson told Entertainment Tonight at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, “He’s the other half of the equation – how can you explain support? I mean, it goes beyond anything. He’s just my person, he’s my best friend.”
Brie hasn’t talked about Alex very much in interviews, but when she did, it was clear that she adored him. He seems to adore her too, which is nice. Anyway, this isn’t a scandalous story, from what I can see – no one got homewrecked, no one is a terrible cheater, no one ran off with the vicar’s wife. They’re just a nice young couple and they’re getting married. Congrats! And let’s hope the Best Actress Curse has been broken by now.
Also: Alex has cheekbones for DAYS. Their babies are going to be very cheekboney.

I really don’t mean this to be rude, but what the heck happened to him? Was he on hard drugs? I remember liking his band as a young teen and thinking he was so hot. I understand that we age, but this doesn’t even look like he same person.
