Kim Kardashian’s new makeup trend: ‘nontouring,’ or just not contouring

wenn24031383

Here are more photos of Kim Kardashian out in London this weekend for the Vogue 100 event. Apparently, Kim and Kanye attended the event because Kim was doing a Q&A session about makeup, reality TV and more. They didn’t want to talk to Kanye, who knows everything there is to know about fashion, right? So that’s interesting. But the real news came during Kim’s session, when she revealed that she is no longer all about “contouring.” If you’ve paid attention to the Kardashian-Jenner clan at all over the past five years or so, you know that they’ve all tried to convince people that their ever-changing faces were the products of clever makeup application, that with the right makeup contouring, you too can look like you have a smaller nose, high cheekbones and a Botoxed forehead. But Kim says now that the new trend is “nontouring.” So, just wearing makeup like a normal person. Some highlights from her chat:

She’s into nontouring: “I think right now it’s more about nontouring, like real skin with less make-up on it. I’m trying to wear less… and my husband loves me without make-up. Now when I travel I just bring a small make-up case, and I’m content with that. I’m really into strobing now, so just highlighting the skin without using bronzer. I love contouring and I don’t think I’d stop contouring my nose – I know people think I’ve had a nose job but it really is just make-up!”

Giving birth in makeup: “For my first baby I gave birth in full make-up, but none for my second.”

Business & family: “I always hear people say don’t mix business and family, but I think there is no other way. It’s like Kylie has her Lip Kits and we couldn’t be prouder. We send her ideas of shades and selfies of us wearing it. Working with your family — there is nothing better.”

Reality TV: “I’ve not ever had that once that ‘I want it to be done, I’m over this.’ We all know each other so well. We respect each other’s boundaries. When I just had my baby and didn’t want to be on camera so much? That was okay. And then Caitlyn needed her privacy. Crazy things always get out about my family and we just love sharing our story in our way. Once you open the door, you can’t close it. You have to accept what is happening. The positive outweighs the negative and there have been so many opportunities we have gotten from this. I think it would be harder to make people like you if you weren’t being you.”

[From Vogue UK & People]

“People think I’ve had a nose job but it really is just make-up!” This, along with the “I’ve been so private before” statement are absolutely cracking me up. Kim has so obviously had a ton of work done throughout the years. And no, it’s not just clever contouring or whatever, although I’ve always thought that the heavy makeup Kim wears does make her look more plastic and alien-like, and I’ve always thought she looked better with little-to-no makeup. But “nontouring” still isn’t a thing. For the love of God.

Thanks to CB for making these side-by-sides. Obviously, the radical change to Kim’s face over the past decade is just makeup, right?

  1. Don't kill me I'm French says:

Her “nontouring” makeup looks very contouring.I don’t see the difference

    • Locke Lamora says:

I can’t see the difference either?
And she had a ton of plastic surgery.

    • Denisemich says:

I see the difference she doesn’t look like a drag queen.

She is a pretty girl… she didn’t need all of that makeup.

Wearing makeup like a normal person doesn’t mean she doesn’t get botox/filler in her face.

      • Rosemary says:

Denisemich, I don’t think you are allowed to say that she is pretty (although I agree).
Expect a barrage of assholes telling you what to think in response to your post.

    • Snowflake says:

That’s just her excuse for why she looks like she has a new face. It’s makeup, ya’ll

  2. swak says:

So now we’re going to try and take credit for being the creator of “nontouring” – just another way to say “no/little makeup”.

    • Tifygodess24 says:

      Exactly!!!

    • INeedANap says:

Is she aware that most women do not contour? That is not a thing most people do. Hell, I never started. Look at that, I am ahead of a Kardashian trend.

      • LadyMTL says:

I was going to say the same thing! “Look at me, I’m ahead of a trend because I never contoured.” LOL. Good to know, thanks Kimmie.

      • tealily says:

I have to say, I’m ahead of the curve on this one, guys. I’ve been “nontouring” as long as I’ve been wearing makeup!

    • Cran says:

I’m willing to accept her word “nontouring” if she will accept my definition of it as “1. no longer posing nekkid; 2. Not wearing see through clothing.”

    • JenYfromTheBlok says:

On the show, the assistants said they had to go out to get every little thing constantly. The sisters are -not seen- without the buckets o spackle. They are just trying to look less clownish with the NON toring bs. Oh, and Kim had that botox on her jaws. I hope to see these women drool on camera when their god given muscles prematurely atrophy.

  3. Nicole says:

    What I suspect:
    Nose Job
    Cheek Implants
    Lip fillers
Laser hairline (she’s admitted to that)
    injections and fillers
    Stuff in her butt
    brow lift

All reasonably subtle on their own, in totality a lot of stuff…

    • meme says:

      Subtle? I think not.

    • Loopy says:

And one thing I am surprised people have not noticed that she has completely shaved her chin,it was much bigger.

      • prettylights says:

Yes, that’s like the first thing I notice but people don’t talk about it much. Her jaw/chin is so much smaller and she also got the lines around her mouth/nose basically erased.

      • Karina says:

The entire jaw looks altered / different.

        Her nontouring is nonsense.

    • Mar says:

Her entire jaw line is different also.

    • pinetree13 says:

The pics CB chose don’t really show the nose-job. I’ve seen pics online of her earlier from a more profile angle and you can see her nose had the tiniest, not noticeable ridge going downwards, like a small, small bump, but now her nose is super diminutive and straight from the side. If I had only see the pics above I would think she didn’t have a nose job but based on other pictures from the side i’ve seen, i think she did have one

  4. Christin says:

Is there anything about makeup they don’t claim to have discovered or made a thing (even if it’s a technique that’s been around for decades)?

And ‘once the door is open…’? They are constantly shoving it open, while most of us want it to close on them!

  5. Lama Bean says:

Every single time I see old pics of her I just get offended. First, she was so pretty, sans bad eye makeup, and then started messing with her face. Second, she thinks the whole world is dumb and doesn’t recognize her many, many, many procedures. It infuriates me, sort of, then I go to another website and I’m already over it.

  6. paleokifaru says:

I have been ahead of this trend my whole life!

    • Trillion says:

      but Kim invented it.

      • paleokifaru says:

You’re right. Perhaps I crossed paths with Kim as a child and was so mesmerized by her makeup free face that I decided to co opt the look for myself. How young would she have been to be makeup free? 8 months?

  7. Tifygodess24 says:

    This woman is exhausting.

  8. meme says:

So pretty much the Kartrashians have invented EVERYTHING to do with makeup.

  9. lower-case deb says:

for the longest time, in my household, nontouring means staycation.
i need to keep up with these new pop vocabulary.

  10. Pansy says:

I love nontouring. I nontour every morning!

    • Almondjoy says:

😂😂😂 same here! Every single day! Maybe you and I should be credited with starting that trend 🤔

      • paleokifaru says:

First you don’t want to give her credit for her invention of braids and now this! Man Almondjoy, you really just don’t get what a true innovator KK is.😉

      • Almondjoy says:

LOL! I’m pretty hard on them, aren’t I? I’ll give them a break, Paleo.

        I can’t stop laughing though

  11. Green Is Good says:

I hear the sound of industrial grade Spanx splitting.

  12. Tash says:

That dress in the top pic on someone else would look gorgeous (minus those stupid sleeves). Too bad she makes everything look trashy.

  13. Miss M says:

I googled photos of her during her “Reggie Bush” years. She was gorgeous, glowing and had a great sense of style. What happened to her?!

    • Locke Lamora says:

      She never had style.

    • Loopy says:

You are right, she was gorgeous and very stylish.

    • Elisa the I. says:

I agree, she was stunning and her outfits actually complemented her figure.
And Kaiser ist right: she looks so much better with less make-up and without her hair pulled back in this weird way.

  14. Almondjoy says:

This cracks me up! Almost as much as the clip of Kylie when she says “2016 is the year of realizing things. My friend and I are realizing stuff and we’re all starting to, like, realize things.”

These women think they invented everything 😂😂

  15. me says:

The lies…the lies ! Contouring can’t do THAT to your nose Kim !

Actually, a lot of women/girls have stopped with the contouring when they realized it:

    1. made them look like clowns
    2. made them look older
    3. was a waste of money

But of course Kim will now take the credit for the “nontouring” trend.

Kim doesn’t know a thing about make-up. She gets hers done by a make-up artist all the time. She admitted she can’t even curl her own hair. All she does is relay the info her professional hair and make-up team tell her.

    • Christin says:

Many years ago, an agelessly beautiful actress mentioned contouring as a technique (she has very chiseled looking cheeks). However, she added you really had to know what you were doing, or it would not look good.

I now see what she was talking about.

  16. Rapunzel says:

In those old pics, she actually looks Armenian. She has completely surgeried away her ethnic heritage to look like a generic plastic Barbie. Sad.

    • isabelle says:

She was prettier and fresher in the first one. If both of those women walked into a room at the same time, would notice the first one first. She was beautiful in the past.

  17. Zuzus girl says:

Her less made-up look (refuse to use that ridiculous term) is still ten times the amount of make-up I have ever worn. She still looks alien and not in a cute ET way. That said, I hate contouring. When I see people wearing it in daylight, it looks terrible. It’s a trend that does need to end.

    • julid says:

      agreed

    • ClaireB says:

Yes, I just watched a video of a woman doing a little contouring, and while it looked fine from the front, I kept wondering what it looks like from the side. People don’t generally have dark lines along their cheeks and down the sides of their noses. I do have prominent cheekbones and have lines down my cheeks underneath, but it makes me look gaunt and ill, frankly, not sexy. Such a weird trend.

    • swak says:

It’s a hundred times what I wore while working. Blush and mascara and now not even that!

  18. Marty says:

I can literally see the contour line of makeup right under her cheekbone, so wtf is she taking about?

Also there is no such thing as ‘nontouring’, you either contour or you don’t.

    • me says:

She once said she’d never pose nude again. That didn’t last long and either will the “less make-up” look on her. Who is she fooling? That’s like saying she’s going to give up her spanx. Not gonna happen.

  19. julid says:

her face has TOTALLY totally changed shape and appearance. how do surgeons do that? sorry if I used poor grammar. her face that is somehow brought out more, around the eyes….like-I can’t describe it. She still has very pretty features, though. sorry, I can’t even come up with better adjectives or nouns.

    • Josefina says:

Kim’s always been very pretty. I loved her face circa 2010 – she had stuff done but not too much.

Even nowadays I still think she’s pretty, when she lets her face rest.

    • Lisatorner says:

If the kardashians actually admitted to their surgery they would truly deserve the credit for this awful trend. (See iggy, Ellie Goulding, all of the cast members of all mtv reality shows and uk reality shows)

The reason Kim’s eyes look different she had a lot of filler underneath them to fill in her under eye area.. Now her face is smooth right up to the bottom of her eyelids before there was a concave area under her eye where we all get bags etc.
The lines on her face have been plumped with fillers especially around her mouth. Kylie does this also which is crazy considering her age.
She has had 3 or 4 nose jobs though, recently after north and now another after Saint and even though her face is technically ‘perfect’ I don’t find her sexy in any way anymore.

There is something so calculated and desperate about having and then denying that much surgery.
I also believe she gets non surgical Lipo for the baby weight I really don’t credit her with the discipline of losing it all naturally. I feel like she has had so much Lipo and fat melting work done on her stomach and waist in general that now when she gets pregnant or gains weight it ends up all in her back and butt where she throws a coat on overtop and keeps her front side flat and trim lol.. Then just goes and lays down on her front on the fat melting beds and they melt the layers off her back until she is back to normal.

  20. Josefina says:

Are they actually fooling anyone? Not even their fans believe them.

  21. sassback says:

Is it bad that I’m addicted to contouring and all of Kim K. and friends’ (like her make-up artist Mario) make-up tutorials on insta? I’ve been ‘non-touring’ for days now with like a little cheek contouring and I’m in love with it now. I have a glow kit and everything. I buy into all this crap.

  22. guest says:

So make up made it so people can now see up your nostrils when before we could’nt.
The space between your mouth and nose keeps getting bigger and bigger, by the magic of make up!
    Kim is the biggest liar.

  23. Ever says:

Working in the beauty industry I can attest to hair and makeup completely changing the perception of a persons face. Undoubtedly Kim is vain, and she does a lot of skin treatments etc, but I don’t think she would actually change her face so much like her mother and sister. Kris is like a walking example of her future if she messes around too much. Her face is how she makes most of her money and I just I don’t think she’s that stupid to mess with her paycheck.

  24. kitty orchid says:

Her natural face was exotic and beautiful, which made her very unique. It is very sad that she had all those procedures to remove that unique beauty because now she just looks like a generic mannequin.

  25. ClaireB says:

You know what, Kim? If all those changes in your face really are just make-up, why don’t you wash it off and show us?

I never realized how much she looked like Khloe before. That red dress 2006 picture actually looks like they are related. They sure don’t look related now.

I can’t believe I just commented on a Kartrashian thread. I have to leave now.

  26. haley1020 says:

kim looks like a man now lol

  27. FauxOutrage says:

Just look at the space between her nose and her top lip. There is a huge, noticeable increase in that space from what she looked like before. No contouring is going to make two features farther apart like that.

    • teacakes says:

yep, and that last nose job that led to the too-large space between her nose and top lip, is what finally pushed her over the edge into looking like a straight-up caricature of a human being.

It’s an object lesson to all of us, appreciate what you’ve got, because it’s that easy to mess it up with one ‘improvement’ too far. Her OG face was gorgeous, and remained that way even after nose jobs etc… until that final one.

  28. Nicole says:

I’ll always agree with Kevyn Aucoin, it is called shaping and not contouring. This is NOT the 80’s. the Kardashians just look like they use paint!

  29. JRenee says:

    Prettier before the surgeries/fillers…

  30. Aerohead21 says:

What’s sad to me is that she preaches loving her body but the changes to her face, however they were accomplished, make her look less Armenian than she previously did. She had some true beauty and made it more generic and plastic.

  31. Kitkatk8 says:

Takes a lot of money and a lot of scalples and needles to turn the naturally beautiful, unique face she had into this generic mess she’s “nontouring” now

  32. AnotherDirtyMartini says:

Kim looks a lot like Janice from Friends here.
