Robert Pattinson debuts an unfortunate new hairstyle in Paris: fug or hot?

We haven’t had occasion to discuss Robert Pattinson since the Met Gala in early May. That’s probably by design for Sparkles and FKA Twigs – their romance has been one of incrementally decreasing visibility, and nowadays, they can go months without being pap’d. So it ended up being news when Sparkles stepped out in Paris this weekend for the Dior Homme show at Paris Fashion Week. Pattinson has had a Dior contract for several years now, and he’s one of the major faces of the brand.

I do wonder if Dior was paying for the old Sparkles though. You know, the attractive, dreamy Sparkles with the long hair and cheekbones for days. While Pattinson still looks structurally the same – I even think he looks thinner in these photos – his terrible hairstyle is throwing everything off. Pattinson had a buzzcut at the Met Gala, and obviously he’s growing it out. But the super-gelled, pushed-forward baby bangs are AWFUL. He looks like he’s losing his hair and trying to hide it. While I’m glad he didn’t get extensions or a wiglet or whatever, his hair needs some volume. This is the worst!

And I’m including photos of Michael B. Jordan, who was also at the Dior show. MBJ looked amazing! He’s growing out his hair and it looks really good. HIS SMILE IS EVERYTHING.

Unfortunate $5 haircut but Sparkles looks genuinely happy and that makes me smile.

    • Esmom says:

Lol, yes. It does look like he’s trying to cover up a receding hairline and if that’s the case I feel for him. I love to see Rob happy, too.

And MBJ is a doll, as usual.

    • Erinn says:

Yeah – he looks so much more like a normal guy here. And a happy guy at that.

I mean – it’s not a good haircut by any means – but it’s not the worst either? It probably feels nice for the summer to not have any real weight added with hair.

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

      Looks like happy Cesar.

    • Jayce says:

More like a £5 haircut. He looks like a Brexit-voting Daily Mail reading Chav!

  2. lucy2 says:

Sparkles never did anything for me anyway, but now I’m getting sort of a Frankenstein vibe…

  3. Delicia says:

    Hello, Victor Frankenstein.

  4. Lucy says:

Ok, the haircut is bad, but it’s been so long since I’ve last saw him and he looks so smiley and happy that I’m willing to overlook that. I also love that picture of him with MBJ and A$AP.

  5. Div says:

MBJ, be still my heart. So glad his career is on fire. A$AP Rocky is looking fine, too.

Sparkles has a case of the Jude Laws…pretty boys in their 20s and then their looks start to fade away, along with their hairlines, once they start hitting their 30s. A reverse Helen Mirren situation. On a less shallow note, he does look happy.

    • Tate says:

I used to watch MJB on All My Children. Nice to see him with so much success.

      • Div says:

MBJ is super talented and all of his upcoming projects look interesting except for the Thomas Crown remake (well, the remake of the remake). I have a soft spot for him since he was so nice to my cousin, who was very ill at the time, who randomly ran into him coming out of a restaurant once.

      • Tate says:

@Div it is nice to hear stories like that. Glad he is a good guy!

    • Tiffany says:

That who it is. I was staring, saying I know what that is. A$AP. MLB is looking good as well, you can still see the Creed body in sleeves.

The difference between Jude and Robert is that Jude is a very good character actors and will never not want for work. Robert, not at all.

      • Camille says:

Jude hasn’t lost his looks. He might not be as ‘pretty’ as he was in his 20’s, but he looks more like a man now. I don’t even care that he is losing his hair, he’s still gorgeous. But yeah, Jude is also a good actor, RPatz, not so much.

      • Anname says:

Ok I have to defend Rob here. He has moved completely into the world of art house cinema, where he wants to be. His performance reviews the last few years have been very positive, and he made several Oscar short lists for his work in The Rover. He has been so under the radar most people have no idea what he has done lately. But he is definitely proving his acting chops, and a wide range.

That said, this wasn’t one of his better appearances. He seemed really uncomfortable with the awkward poses and body language. I still love him, but these pics won’t be among my favorites😂.

    • Josefina says:

I definitely find him hotter now that during his Twilight days.

  6. claire says:

Never found him attractive to begin with. He’s got a Frankenstein vibe. But yeah, haircut isn’t helping things.

  7. frisbee says:

George Clooney circa 1995 ‘Caesar’ cut, not good then, not good now.

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Oops, I said the same thing before I saw yours but I spelled it wrong. Sorry.

  8. Tiny Martian says:

Terrible haircut. Then again, he had a perm for his last movie role and shaved his head after, so at least he’s not completely bald! Embarrassed that I even know this, but I do.

  9. Josefina says:

The haircut itself is ugly, but I don’t think it looks that bad on him.

    • ElbaQ says:

Ditto! He has a perfect bone structure, even a bad haircut isn’t that bad on him.

      • sleepless says:

Losing his hair? Really! His hair grows so fast that if he does not cut it, it will be a bushy hairdo within a month. Look at pictures from his latest movies Lost City of Z and Good Times. Thick locks in both. I wish I had that much hair.

  10. Angelica says:

    Lurch?

  11. Deidra says:

I must be the only one here, but I don’t hate the haircut at all! It looks stylish and summer-friendly. And Sparkles doesn’t have a receding hairline, he had perfect Edward Cullen-like locks in winter, but had to cut them for a role and now he’s growing them out again… next time we see him he’ll look completely different, and I like it about him.

  12. Kat says:

I’ve never ever considered Sparkles attractive, and now I’m almost repulsed by the haircut. MBJ, on the other hand, I would bang that like a screen door! That smile does things to my lady loins.

    • Karen says:

LoL. Really? And stop referring to him as “sparkles.” That movie is soooo yesterday. Its over. Thank god. But I loved him in it.

      • Esmom says:

If you’ve visited here with any regularity over the years you would know that Sparkles is used purely out of affection. All tongue in cheek.

  13. Anon33 says:

Liam Gallagher circa 1996 is not the look, Sparkles.

  14. D. says:

Sparkles had a landing strip on a bald scalp a year ago, if Dior didn’t break the contract back then, they probably won’t now.

    • Karen says:

That landing strip was there for a reason. And I think I know why. LoL! Just assuming.

  15. Another Anne says:

Robert is one of those guys that can look not so hot in one outing, and then the next time you see him he looks great. It’s weird. He definitely looks better with longer hair, so my guess is once the Caesar cut grows out, he’ll look just fine.

  16. anon123 says:

He has a classic bone structure, no haircut can take this away, He’ll always look good.

  17. Chloe says:

Both the weight loss and haircut is probably for a movie part. I am always surprised that people don’t take this into account with actors. It was the same with Leo and his beard during the filming of the revenant and Matthew MC during the filming of Dallas buyers club.

    • Tiny Martian says:

Lol, Chloe, so true with actors in general. I remember comments about Matthew Mc when he was filming “Free State of Jones”, and people went on and on about his beard and what could possibly be wrong with him.

  18. Karen says:

Oh COME ON YOU GUYS! “Sparkles?” Really? LoL! LET IT GO!! The man is trying SO HARD to get away from that character and you all WONT let it die. Give it a rest will ya?

  19. Jay says:

I’m sure he’ll look fine again when his hair grows out. The styling is off here but he looks happy and healthy. A good face helps

  20. Rae says:

The only time I find Sparkles attractive has been in certain magazine editorials.

Like his New England inspired Vanity Fair editorial and the original Twilight cast shoot (also Vanity Fair).

Otherwise, he is very hit and miss.

  21. Trinity says:

Transition hair is unfortunate but he was glowing and all over the place in Paris. Saw some Dior dinner pics with Kris Van Assche after party and he looked hot. Let this hair grow out for humanity lol. I just read somewhere he’s prepping for a scifi film – prisoner and his size is reflective of prep for film role. We really need hot Rob back in a big adult way post twi life.

  22. shaboo says:

rpatz doesn’t look so good, hopefully his hair will grow out quickly.
MBJ has a nice smile but he has NO JAW. He is not attractive at all and seems to be a douchebag in his interviews.

  23. Starkiller says:

Until he has an attitude adjustment and a personality transplant, it doesn’t matter too much what he does with his hair.

    • Anname says:

What? He’s like one of the nicest guys out there. He was a total gentleman after the cheating scandal, and is considered by most to be genuinely affable and pretty grounded considered what he experienced during the Twilight years. You may find him ugly, and he might not be your thing, but he’s pretty harmless.

  24. Tig says:

I agree-he looks so much better with long(er) hair. And what I would give to have hair that grows as fast as his does! He has a beautiful smile, and it’s good to see. And the Jude Law reference- just saw him on Colbert, and not too shabby! He’s not 20/30 anymore, but he’s still a very good looking man.

  25. Willie says:

I just figured it was part of the styling for the event. He’s always seemed very willing to go with whatever the stylists want for photo shoots and such. Since he’s there for Dior work, I assume his entire look was choreographed.

  26. NeoCleo says:

He just doesn’t look NEARLY as hot as he did during his “Twilight” era. Not that I’m a huge fan of those movies, but he was REALLY nice to look at in them.

I guess all the eyebrow grooming, contact lenses and careful hair styling really was really important to his hotness. At least for me.
