Tara Reid & Jenny McCarthy got into a messy fight on Jenny’s SiriusXM show

wenn23803956

As I was looking through our recent photos of Jenny McCarthy, I had a sudden realization: with all of her plastic surgery, botox and fillers, she’s morphing into some weird Charlize Theron clone. It’s really odd. I bring up Jenny’s “work” because it came up completely organically in the middle of Jenny’s SiriusXM radio show. Jenny’s guest on Friday was Tara Reid, of Sharknado and Taradise “fame.” Personally, I think Jenny and Tara are pretty evenly matched as far as likeability and relevance, so I’m not choosing sides on this one. What happened during the interview was a thing of f—king beauty though. I think Jenny really was trying to be nice… at first. Then Jenny realized the whole thing was going sideways, and decided to be a bitch. And Tara Reid got some really good jabs in too. People Mag did the transcript, but I’m including the audio at the end of the post. As I listened to it… yes, I do think Jenny was trying to be a real interviewer and Tara was bitchy first. But the whole exchange… my God. Here you go:

The interview began with McCarthy, 43, complementing Reid on her latest reality show appearance in Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars.

“I f—ing love you on that show, but are you glad you did it?” the host asked.

“It’s not worth the time to talk about,” Reid replied. “There’s confusing things about it. We are not talking about it.”

McCarthy then made a remark about how she just loved the show “so much,” to which Reid continued to say, “Babe, I asked you, please let’s not talk about this show. We’re all here about Sharknado.”

The host then shifted to the film and asked Reid if she had to get into peak physical shape for it.

“It’s not like you really need to get into shape,” she replied. “It’s Sharknado. They’re fake sharks.”

McCarthy then brought up the topic of Reid’s past surgeries and asked if she was still going under the knife.

“No, I haven’t had any surgery for awhile, Jenny,” she replied before going silent on the microphone and talking to someone out of earshot.

“You look great now. So, you’re good and done, not moving forward with plastic surgery?” McCarthy continued to ask.

“I think I’ve made that clear about 100 times,” Reid snapped back. “Maybe you only read the bad things, but I’ve made that really clear for so many years. Read what you want to read… It was really nice talking to you and really good luck with your show.”

“Good luck to you, too, and I’m so excited about Sharknado and I hope you stay married,” McCarthy calmly quipped back. “I hope your knees get a little wobblier than they already are.”

“I hope you stay married too. I’m sure he’s a nice guy,” Reid responded. “I hope your tits get even nicer, because they’re amazing. The same guy who did mine, right? I’ll always use your advice. You’re the best. Bye.”

“Love you, Tara. Good luck with Sharknado 18,” McCarthy replied.

[From people]

Tara Reid cops quite an attitude for someone currently promoting Sharknado 4: The 4th Awakens (that’s seriously the name of it) and Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars. And Jenny cops quite an attitude about Tara’s plastic surgery considering Jenny is trying to remake herself into Anti-Vaxx Barbie. No one is the winner here, but it’s always fun when two terrible people get into a bitchy war of words. Bless them.

Well, promoting Sharknado 4 never literally caused sickness and death, so there’s that.

Sorry, but I don’t find them even at all. Tara seems to be more self-destructive than anything else. I am beyond tired of Jenny.

    • Izzy says:

BOOM! I agree. They were both rude, but only one of them has advocated behavior that has triggered major health crises and outbreaks of diseases we shouldn’t be getting.

      • Cindy says:

Does anyone happen to know if McCarthy has backed down at all on her crazy vaccine nonsense? Please tell me she is not still suggesting parents avoid getting their children vaccinated.

      • Lisa says:

Oh please this is probably just pre-publicity for Jenny’s cameo appearance in sharknado 5

    • CharlotteCharlotte says:

Yeah, I know Tara has had her personal demons but I can’t recall reading about her being a bad person. McCarthy is dangerously stupid, though.

      • HeidiM says:

I have such a deep hatred for Jenny because of her FauxAutism expertise, that I wish Tara had done some actual damage to her show. I’ve got 2 Autistic sons, and can’t count how many times people have asked or assumed we didn’t vaccinate them because of the sh!t that Jenny put out there. Can’t count how many times I’ve had to tell other parents that I don’t take medical advise from playmates etc etc. and their kid won’t get measles from mine. OR how many Drs who’ve felt it necessary to ask us if we’re following any of her “advise”. Wish Tara had clubbed her with a fake shark!

    • Merritt says:

Exactly. Tara has hurt herself, Jenny has hurt countless people. Also Tara seems to understand the true state of her career versus Jenny who is delusional enough to think she is A-list.

    • The Eternal Side-Eye says:

Exactly. On the scale of like ability Tara never claimed her child had an illness cured through vitamins and love and warned a nation full of well meaning idiots not to vaccinate their children leading to actual deaths and child injuries.

Jenny is lower than pond scum on a day the frogs have diarrhea.

      • I Choose Me says:

Team Tara all the way. I absolutely CANNOT STAND Jenny tries too hard to be funny loves smelling her own farts constantly thirsty McCarthy.

  2. Rae says:

    Tara was drunk right?

  3. Joe-Joe says:

Can someone please explain the “wobbly knees” jab to me, please? Does have something to with giving BJs or..?
    Thanks.

  4. lisa2 says:

Regardless of what Tara was promoting. Jenny was inappropriate. Tara was not asked on the show because she is an Oscar contender. She was asked on the show to promote what she had going on.. and despite it being some silly movie it was what she was asked there for. Jenny was trying to Shade her and she was not as subtle as she thought she was. Tara saw what she was doing even in that sticky sweet condescending tone. Tara was polite until Jenny took the first dig at her. That was gross. If she (Jenny) had done the same to a “A-lister” it would be a different story.

I’m with Tara on this. Jenny is the last one to talk to anyone about plastic surgery. And if you are going to attack someone for what you yourself are doing or have done then open your surgery medical records.

    • Izzy says:

True. If you are the interviewer, you generally set the tone. I don’t know why people keep giving that dimbulb a platform. Her greatest accomplishments to date are triggering a health crisis with BS “science”, and marrying a Wahlburg.

    • lucy2 says:

I agree, Jenny thought she’d be funny and/or controversial (desperate for attention) by making rude comments to her guest, who, let’s be honest, is kind of an easy target. It’s rude, and totally unnecessary.
I’m no fan of either, but Jenny is just awful on every level, and absolutely shouldn’t be talking about anyone else’s plastic surgery.

    • Bridget says:

See, I’m of the other school on this one. Tara isn’t in a place that she can demand what us and isn’t talked about in an interview. Jenny brought up topics that Tara has talked about publicly in the past, and I think there was an expectation that a Tara Reid is supposed to be game in an interview. Jenny is pretty annoying, but at least in the transcripts she sounds like she’s trying to do her job (she just has very limited capabilities).

      • lisa2 says:

I don’t think you should be treated a certain way because she isn’t in a place to ‘demand what is talked about” . She said that they agreed to the topic. Jenny changed it. Just because she is not a Big Name doesn’t mean she doesn’t deserve respect. From what I can see Tara has hurt herself not other people.

        Everyone deserves respect

      • Bridget says:

I’m not saying she doesn’t deserve respect, but I am saying that I thought Tara was behaving like a brat for the first part. “I don’t want to talk about that” isn’t them agreeing on anything, it’s Tara making demands. To me, it’s unprofessional to go for an interview and then behave like this. Even I know that no one ever strictly talks about the project (and what depths are they going to plumb with Sharknado 4 anyhow). Yes, Jenny is obnoxious. But Tara’s always been a brat too. It’s just easier for folks to give Tara the benefit of the doubt because she’s such low-hanging fruit (and because Jenny really is awful).

      • Samtha says:

It seemed to me that they’d agreed not to talk about that beforehand, which is pretty standard for the industry. Before interviews begin, they go over what will/won’t be talked about. If Jenny knew Tara didn’t want to discuss something and then put her on the spot by bringing it up during the interview…yeah, that’s pretty rude.

      • Bridget says:

I disagree there. From the transcript at least, it looks like Tara is referencing the earlier request not to talk about it, not a pre-arranged conversation. And you’re also assuming that Tara is also prepared and early enough to do any pre-work. This isnt the tonight show where its thoroughly vetted and prepared ahead of time, so I would be amazed if anyone got together beforehand. Also, not trying to be super mean here… but who is Tara Reid to dictate the terms of an interview? Yes, some celebrities do that, but frankly not all of them have the clout to do so. I hate to say it, but Tara needed this interview more than Jenny.

      • Wren says:

Sorry, I’m on Tara’s side here. Yes, she’s promoting a terrible movie and she’s had quite the fall from grace with loads of personal problems, but that doesn’t mean Jenny has perfect liberty to try and wipe the floor with her. She was invited on the show or the Sharknado promotion team asked for her to be on it, either way there was probably a general outline of topics.

But no, Jenny had to go almost straight to the insults and done to death things. Which I suppose someone should have foreseen because that’s pretty much what she does, so there’s that too. Still, she seems quite needlessly rude before Tara even utters a few sentences.

      • Pepper says:

Agree. Plus, how much can you really say about Sharknado? One garbage B movie sequel isn’t enough to sustain a whole interview. If she’s not willing to talk about anything else, including other recent projects, then she shouldn’t be doing press. The press is clearly for her sake, Sharknado isn’t the type of thing that benefits from an interview with one of the stars, no ones watching it for them.

      • Naya says:

If you listen to the audio, Tara comes off as really moody. This wasnt a two minute junkette, she showed up for an interview. Jenny has to gear the content to her audience (i cant believe she has one!). Jennys tone is friendly and conversational until the final minute when the piss fighting begins.

Tara was merely asked about a reality show she had participated in and it was respectfully phrased. Far bigger stars would have answered the question about a past project and then deftly steered to their new film. Have you listened to a Stern interview for instance? Tara is hardly a current pop figure so you would think she would use the two things that Jennys audience is into (reality shows and plastic surgery) to springboard from. Instead she acted like she was doing Jenny the favor here. I dislike Jenny as mush as the rest of you but Tara comes off horribly here.

      • Samtha says:

Pre-work in this case would probably be an email with talking points. Even podcasts do them so there’s not dead air.

It’s pretty easy to tell Tara was uncomfortable talking about the reality show. Jenny could have just changed the subject rather than immediately bringing up bad plastic surgery and suggesting Tara needed to exercise more/get in shape for Sharknado. It was straight-up bitchy, and she didn’t deserve that just because she didn’t want to talk about a reality show and wanted to talk about the show she was actually there to promote instead.

Why should she have to take that just because she’s C-list (or D-list, I guess)? She should be grateful to be insulted to her face? Come on, now.

      • Kiliki says:

        Agree, Bridget.

      • annalise says:

I agree with Bridget. After reading the interview/excerpts, (was that the ENTIRE interview, what was provided above??) it did NOT appear to me that Jenny had specifically agreed not to discuss Tara’s surgeries. Tara’s comment; “I’ve said 100 times that I don’t want to talk about it..” or something to that effect, sounds to me like she has told multiple people, in the past, that it was not open for discussion. And she was expecting Jenny to somehow already be aware of this. HAD Jenny agreed not to bring it up, I think Tara would have said something more along the lines of; “I told you I wouldn’t discuss that.” She would have referred to having specifically told JENNY that it wasn’t on the table.
That aside, I think Tara WAS being bratty and sullen from the get go, when Jenny DID ask her a question about Sharknado, her response seemed clipped, to say the least. I don’t blame Jenny for getting irritated and wanting to move onto another topic, and yes I’m sure that Jenny knew that surgery isn’t exactly Tara’s favorite topic, but she had so far proven to be such a crappy interviewee that maybe it was her way of being crappy right back. Professional? Probably not. But did Jenny violate any agreements in terms of topic? I dont think so.

    • LoveIsBlynd says:

Yeah it sounds like Jenny was just out to kick someone who is already down, especially on the plastic surgery issue. Not cool at all. However, the “classy” thing to do would have been just to ignore the questions and stick to talking points, sadly Tara stooped down to Jenny’s level.

      • Isa says:

A good interviewer would take a hint. She may have talked about it before, but she clearly kept trying to steer the conversation to promoting her movie.

      • Bridget says:

Isa – that’s not what a good interviewer does at all.

      • Wren says:

She’s not an investigation journalist interviewing a murder suspect. She’s a minor celebrity interviewing a fellow minor celebrity about a minor movie. In that context she’s a terrible interviewer and should have taken the hint, which was more of a stfu than a hint. But I suppose “trading bitchy insults” is good enough to be considered an interview in her book.

      • Isa says:

Bridgett- I see your point. I shouldn’t have made such a generalized statement.
        Wren- I agree with you.

    • Audrey says:

Plus she’s bashing tara’s marriage when Jenny’s husband is a constant cheater. He’s been cheating since before they got married and she’s aware. She’s just desperate to marry up so she went for it

      • vespernite says:

Donnie is a cheater? That’s disappointing. I know Jordan is no good, but Donnie? He’s my favorite New Kid!

    • delorb says:

That’s what I was going to type. She was there to promote one thing and Jenny thought she’d get in a few digs with something else. Tara may have her demons, but Jenny is just a horrible human being.

    • Dirty Martini says:

Your take sounds right to me. I have no pre Existing reason to be Team Tara, but Jenny and her anti vaccine crap was down right dangerous. So I don’t need any more reason to be anti-Jenny and Team Tara on this one. But I ain’t buying the tshirt.

  5. Maria says:

“It’s not like you really need to get into shape,” she replied. “It’s Sharknado. They’re fake sharks.””

    lol!

    • BengalCat2000 says:

I laughed at that too! I’m team no one, but Tara will always have a special place in my heart for her role as Bunny from The Big Lebowski.

    • I Choose Me says:

Right? Perfect answer to a stupid ass question.

  6. Bridget says:

Serious question – what was Tara even thinking she was going to talk about? Jenny’s questions weren’t even bad to start with. I mean, I’m just going off of the except above because I’m not about to rupture my ear drums listening to Jenny’s interviewing.

    • Exactly. I am surprised at the level of anti Jenny on this particular thread. Perhaps the whole Autism anti-vac b.s. is colouring our view of this particular incident. To me, it reads like Jenny is trying to keep the momentum, and Tara comes off as sullen. And I mean, her first response there…I’m not going to talk about that…I’m here to promote Sharknado. Do you really take yourself so seriously that you are getting all butthurt over a question combo containing one part reality show called “Marriage Boot Camp” and one part movie called “Sharknado” about giant fake sharks attacking the universe? Really!? Tara’s career is not great, sure, but part of her success in sharknado is that very appeal…the kind of washed-up .B-list, former American Pie hottie-cum-Scream queen in an OTT horror/comedy…..get over yourself.

  7. kri says:

Wow. I cannot believe Trump didn’t pick one of these geniuses for his VP. He must be regretting Pence if he listened to that show. “Geez, that Jenny is a real lady go-getter”! God, what trash. Except for the sharks. They are awesome.

  8. Chaine says:

    Who and who?

  9. The Eternal Side-Eye says:

    Just, no.

  10. Justjj says:

Too much class for these F-listers. Are either of them relevant at all? That said, I’m with Tara here. Jenny is a nasty piece of work and dumb as a box of rocks. I always thought it spoke volumes about Jim Carrey that he was with her for so long.

    • Choo says:

It really doesn’t speak for Jim’s character. He’s a very, very good guy and I think it was her son that he developed the bond with. She used the opportunity to publicly shame him a few years after the break up about not seeing her kid anymore to grab some cheap publicity for herself ..
      She’s awful.

  11. mbbb says:

interesting story: someone I know was going to go to a wedding a few years back in illinois, and apparantly jenny mcarthy & that wahlburg guy decided they wanted to get married on the same date as the people who had the place booked out for like over a year. the venue called up the pre-booked couple and told them the venue is unavailable now and paid for them to re-locate somewhere else, all so jenny could have her dream wedding (wherever it was). kinda sad that the venue would ruin someone’s day like that all for some extra cash

  12. I’m not a fan of either of these trashy gals but it is pretty funny. Jenny was being nice in the beginning & Tara was an ass from the get go. And I mean a grade AA jumbo egg ass. If she didn’t want to play & be on the radio interview then don’t but she has to know she’s going to be asked about her showbiz career including the marriage bootcamp show. So lame. 2 f-listers insulting one another.

    • delorb says:

I don’t think it was nice to bring up some reality show that your guest probably told you they didn’t want to talk about. That shade was subtle, but it was there.

  13. KiddVicious says:

Tara is a hot mess and half, but I like her. She’s not fake – as in personality, not body – and will tell it like it is. Not always a good thing in Hollywood, but I’m glad to see she’s still hanging in there. She’s one who could have easily ended up dead at a young age.

    • WingKingdom says:

She IS a hot mess, and for some reason I just like her. I’ve never heard any stories about her being an a-hole, just a mess. She seems self-aware with a sense of humor. And I agree, I’m glad she’s still working and doing her thing.

  14. K37744 says:

I get that Tara didn’t want to talk about her crappy relationship, but it’s not like Jenny dug into something incredibly private. SHE’S ON A CRAPPY RELATIONSHIP REALITY SHOW BROADCASTING IT TO THE MASSES. This wasn’t a case of bringing up super secret, personal issues or tabloid rumors. She literally asked about what gives Tara a paycheck. Why wouldn’t free publicity be allowed?

And also, Jenny McCarthy is an idiot.

  15. ronaldinhio says:

I don’t see where McCarthy gets the idea that it is okay to be sneery and rude to Reid.
She seems to have missed the interview concept.
You know the one where the interviewer asks a question, listens to the answer and moves from there part.
She seemed to simply have some ideas jotted down that she wanted to say AT Reid. She lost her temper as Reid dared to try to have a say in a focus to the interview.

McCarthy came across very poorly. She was good at rudeness, barking over, her opinions and personal slights. Interviewing, listening, segueing from one point to another are still mystery lands to her. Maybe because they involve the other person too.

  16. Jess says:

I think Tara is just annoying, I feel bad for her because she could’ve had a decent career but her constant drinking definitely sidetracked that. I’m neutral on Jenny, of course it was a bad decision to be so outspoken on vaccines, but to put blame on her for killing children is wrong in my opinion, that’s 100% on the parents who chose to not vaccinate, and I can’t wrap my head around why anyone in their right mind would take the advise of a celebrity over medical professionals. I think her heart was in the right place, but she should’ve kept her mouth shut.

  17. kanyekardashian says:

It’s so hard to believe that Jenny is first-cousins with Melissa McCarthy. Melissa has never been anything but classy, while Jenny is just so ick.

    • Tiffany says:

And there were stories that Jenny was a a-hole as Melissa was getting her career started and Jenny had the hot hand at the time. Oh, how the tide has turned and Jenny probably cannot get a Glace of her at the family reunion let alone on the phone.

      • Kiliki says:

Hmmm…Melissa McCarthy was just on live with Kelly last week wearing a really cool dress she said she and “her cousin Jen” designed together.

Maybe you guys don’t know what you’re talking about.

For the record I agree with all of BRIDGET’S comments above.

  18. Craig says:

I don’t much care for either, but Tara acts like she’s promoting “Macbeth” or something —she takes herself a bit too seriously for someone shilling about killer rubber sharks.

But I’m more offended by the fact that somebody thought it was a good idea to give Jenny her own radio program.

  19. stinky says:

    Respect to ‘Bunny Lebowski’, period.

    • Lynn says:

For the record, Tara was an hour late to the interview. I think she was drunk and giving too much attitude.

  20. JenniferJustice says:

Tara I always found to be a bit pitiful and what she went through with her plastic surgery had to have been traumatic even if she made the initial decision to go under the knife. What that surgeron did was butcher her. I don’t think it’s anything to make fun of. Jenny Mc is vile. Nothing like going after a guest’s most vulnerable insecurity for ratings. And Jenny is nobody to talk; she’s has just as many surgeries, but they didn’t disfigure her. That’s something to be proud of? Put somebody down over – having a quack surgeon? Jenny is a has-been. MTV was her greatest claim to fame and that was when? 30 years ago? At least Tara still gets parts. Who cares if their B/C movies – somebody has to be in them. LOL.

Jenny would like everyone to think she’s such a better mom than everybody else that she actually cured her son of autism. Pretty sure he still has autism, but it’s manageable. Pretty sure all the other kids who have autism don’t have it because their mothers didn’t love them enough. That pointy chin and her shenanigans have me picturing the witch in the Wizard of Oz….bring your little dog too (that’s wahlberg).

  21. Kelly says:

i actually like Jenny. I thought she was no longer anti-vax?
