Donald Trump really hopes Russia or China hacks Hillary Clinton’s emails

wenn28667061

If you didn’t catch the news mid-day on Wednesday, you missed a real treat. First, a general primer on political niceties: traditionally, during the Republican convention, the Democratic presidential nominee continues their campaign events, but as a professional courtesy, the nominee tries not to make news during the other nominee’s week. And vice versa, when the DNC is going on, traditionally the GOP nominee will settle down and not make news. Like, Hillary Clinton waited to announce her VP until after the RNC was over. That was courtesy. But Donald Trump isn’t one for niceties or courtesies. He’s like a toddler in the midst of a tantrum AT ALL TIMES. So Trump called a press conference mid-day on Wednesday, smack in the middle of the DNC’s week. What did he have to announce? Perhaps that he was finally going to release his tax returns? An admission that his campaign is colluding with Vladimir Putin? No. Trump called a press conference to dance around actual treason.

When Trump was asked about Russia’s alleged hack of the DNC’s emails, Trump seemed hopeful that Russia was actually behind the hack, and he said:

“I have nothing to do with Putin. I don’t know anything about him. Other than he will respect me. He doesn’t respect our president. And if it is Russia, which it’s probably not, nobody knows who it is. But if it is Russia, it’d be for a different reason. Because it shows how little respect they have for our country. When they would hack into a major party and get everything. But it would be interesting to see. I will tell you this. Russia, if you’re listening, I hope you’re able to find the 30,000 e-mails that are missing. I think you will probably be rewarded mightily by our press. Let’s see if that happens. That will be next. She gets subpoenaed. She gets rid of 33,000 e-mails. That gives me a problem. Now, if Russia or China or any other country have those e-mails, I mean, to be honest with you, I’d love to see them.”

[Via Vanity Fair]

As you can imagine, there were some follow-up questions. MSNBC’s Katy Tur (this poor woman) asked Trump if he had any qualms about encouraging foreign governments to hack Hillary Clinton, and Trump told her to “be quiet.” I AM NOT MAKING THIS UP.

“No, it gives me no pause. If they have them, they have them. You know what gives me more pause? That a person in our government, crooked Hillary Clinton, here’s what gives me—be quiet, I know you want to, you know, save her—that a person in our government, Katy, would delete or get rid of 33,000 e-mails. That gives me a big problem.”

[Via VF]

The day after a historic moment of watching the first woman in American history become a presidential nominee, the other nominee in the race told a female reporter to “be quiet.” After he suggested that foreign governments should target his opponent and provide him with stolen information, so he can use it in his campaign, because apparently we’re living in this brave new world.

The whole press conference was a mess, as you can imagine, considering Trump was just SO MAD that someone else was getting attention this week, so he was just unleashing his crazy. He said Tim Kaine (the former governor and current senator of Virginia) did a “terrible job” in New Jersey. Trump called Pres. Obama “the most ignorant president in our history.” O RLY? And more – go here and here for more highlights.

  1. Alix says:

He’s quite literally incoherent. Not not mention nucking futs.

    • Tate says:

I thought it was crazy listening to him speak. Reading his words brings it to a whole other level.

    • Naya says:

Dont forget stupid. He has basically destroyed any capital his party would have gained if any scandolous emails were actually recovered and leaked. I dont believe there is anything criminal in those emails but even if they contained evidence of Hillary sneaking nuclear weapon assembly instructions to North Korea, the country would be more focussed on the fact that a presidential candidate told the FSB to hack a political rival and they complied. Basically any email leaks just confirm that an American politician told the former KGB to commit espionage and they said “sure thing, bro”. He just shot his side in the foot and Republican strategists must be cursing the day he was born.

      • SusanneToo says:

Actually, I think his supporters are gung-ho for that idea. They don’t care what insane proposal he makes as long as they get “THEIR” country back.

      • Rachel says:

I agree with Susanne. His supporters really just don’t care about the damage he can do with this much absolute freaking crazy. The don’t actually care about upholding the ideals this country was founded on. And this absolute hypocrisy with this man and his supporters makes me sick. Just sick. The first time he said “Crooked Hillary” I could not believe he would have the actual gall to call someone else crooked. The man is so crooked he wouldn’t know a straight line if someone hit him with it! Yet people just jump right on the train, talking about how crooked Hillary is when Donald Trump has engaged in more shady business deals than you can keep track of. He DEFRAUDED those hard working Americans he says he’s going to protect of their life savings! He has abused the bankruptcy system repeatedly. But people conveniently forget those facts.

I was thinking about it yesterday, and I firmly believe if he is elected, he’ll be impeached and removed from office inside a year. Which should make me feel better, except then we’re left with Pence for the remainder of the term…

      • Mary Mary says:

While the Russian hackers are at it, perhaps they can find Donald Trump’s hidden tax returns 🙂

The presumptive Republican nominee for president has refused to release his tax returns thus far, citing an IRS audit. The IRS has said recently that an audit does not bar a person from releasing their own tax information 🙂

By the way. former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has released her returns back to 2000.

    • doofus says:

not to mention (also) bordering on treasonous. he’s asking a foreign government to conduct espionage against the US.

but, he owes them money. he’s allegedly over $630 million in debt to Russian banks and oligarchs (prob why he won’t release his tax returns, then we’d know how much he’s worth and how much he owes), because he can’t get loans or lines of credit from US banks due to his multiple bankruptcies and failure to pay contractors that have done work for him.

like they say about any scandal, FOLLOW THE MONEY.

      • Kitten says:

Yes but Hilary is the crooked one don’tcha know.

My god what a MESS this guy is.

      • Christin says:

The Dems have to keep hammering the money – tax returns topic. That is interesting (and not really surprising) about the loan trail possibly being what causes the reluctance.

He’s been quoted talking about loans and what a game it is to him. His net worth is believed to be inflated due to what HE thinks his ‘brand’ is worth. I cannot believe he made it this far with zero political experience and such defiant, ridiculous behavior.

      • Betsy says:

Allegedly Anonymous is on the case to “release” the Orange’s tax returns for him. While I can’t cheer what is illegal, I am curious how badly in debt he is to the Russians.

      • Stacey says:

Exactly. This needs to be hammered home more even though the more fanatical Trump supporters don’t seem to care. Trump has to rely on foreign investment from shady overseas banks because American banks say he can’t be trusted. USA Today is running stories on all these people whom Trump has stiffed over the years. It wouldn’t surprise me if the $600 million+ in debt is the truth.

Hillary has her 2007-2014 tax returns on her website. She released her 2000-2006 returns when she ran for President in 2008.

I think Trump will get bored with the job if he wins. He’s already said that Pence will be doing most of his duties if he wins.

      • Anna says:

So, as a Russian, living in Russia, I would like to take this moment to draw attention to the plight of the Russian intelligence services, which are now feeling their jobs and entire livelihoods threatened because this future possibly-president of the United States just made their jobs unnecessary and irrelevant.

    • EM says:

Forget him – what really baffles the mind is that the Trumpbots rationalize his press conference with (1) he didn’t order anyone to actually hack and (2) the emails should be available. 100% unacceptable and delusional.

    • Vava says:

I attended one of his rallies out of curiosity, since it was just down the street from where I live. Truly an unforgettable experience, and not in a good way. This man is unhinged, to put it mildly. His fans are as well. It is now getting to the point where I’m wanting to disassociate with the two people I know who actually support this crazy man. (One is my mother-in-law, and as much as I would like to steer clear of her…………that isn’t going to happen any time soon.) I just don’t want to be friends with anyone who thinks that a racist and sexist is a good choice for POTUS.

      • Saras says:

Did it feel like a 1930’s Germany rally? If Trump doesn’t scare you Pence should! If you want womens rights, gay rights, and human rights to go back to pre WW2 status then vote for those two: p

      • Vava says:

Saras, it did feel like a 1930s Germany rally. (I’ve seen film clips of those and what I saw here at the Trump rally was very similar in nature/tone). I went as a mere observer, couldn’t get anyone I knew to go with me. I was about 30 feet from Trump and not only was he absolutely revolting, his supporters were, too.

      • Santia says:

@Saras – This plus 1000. People are focused on Trump, but take a really good look at Pence’s record. HE is the one that should scare everyone.

      • Annetommy says:

Are the media being tough enough here? If a democrat had said that, all hell would have broken loose. It’s an extraordinary thing to say, even coming from a source who has time and time again shown how unfit he is for any office. Forget Hiddleswift, Don and Vlad are the new hot couple. All we need is a joint name.

      • Veronica says:

Santia – To be blunt, Pence is the one that finally pushed me into the decision to vote Democrat rather than Independent this year, especially once the reports came out that Trump picked his VP with the attention of basically pushing his job on them. He scares the hell out of me as a woman, especially as an LBGT woman.

    • Dinah says:

A narcissist with early onsent dementia becomes increasingly unhinged.

  2. Fallon says:

    Please, America. Please.

    DO NOT ELECT THIS MAN.

    • Snazzy says:

      I second that plea.

In other news, my basement bunker is open for cocktails and general security from the world’s mandess if anyone would like to join. By November I expect it to be in tip top shape

      • Alix says:

RSVPing right now, would love to join you!

      • Snazzy says:

        You are most welcome! 🙂

      • Tate says:

If the worst happens and this mad man is elected, I would like a spot in your bunker. I will bring the vodka.

      • kodakay says:

Thank you, yes, please. I am an excellent cook so we’ll eat well.

      • Rachel says:

I told my husband if he’s elected, we’re upping our timeline and making that move to Tahiti a few years early. Joking aside though, I’m worried about what is going to happen to our retirement if he’s elected. Like really worried.

      • Alex says:

Also RSVPing. Will need a space until my friend can get my sponsored visa application approved. Then I’m out

      • sherry says:

I’ll bring the wine. I’m terrified at the thought of a Trump presidency.

An interesting note, I took my daughter to her psychiatrist earlier this week (she has bipolar disorder) and he always talks with me to see how she’s doing before he talks with her. He knows my husband and knows he’s a conservative blogger/activist and in the #NeverTrump camp. We started discussing Trump and while I know we all say Trump is a narcissist, he’s a professional and said, “Trump is a classic Narcissist. I don’t know how anyone can vote for him. He would be dangerous.”

My husband has been asking me if all of the family’s passports are up-to-date. When someone as conservative and far right as my husband wants to leave the country if Trump is elected, you know it’s bad.

      • Imqrious2 says:

Room for one more? I’ll bring a blender for margaritas and send a couple of cases of a good red ahead!

    • Esmom says:

The fact that anyone with more than a few functioning brain cells would support Trump proves that we as a nation have truly lost a grip on reality. I cannot believe this is happening.

I look forward to the debates, though. Even he’s got to know that HRC will destroy him.

    • ida says:

THIS! this week Michael Moore published 5 reasons why Trump will win and I became really affraid. next week Moore will publish 5 ways how Trump can be defeated. I CANNOT wait to read them! as the pure thought of Trump in office gives me the HORRORS.

      • Sparkles says:

I read Michael Moore’s article and felt defeated and disheartened. I still cannot understand people who proclaim they are flat out not going to vote for Hillary. How, how, how can these people just not vote???? How??? How??? Why??? I CANNOT AFFORD TO NOT VOTE. There is too much at stake for me as I am everything Trump despises- a Hispanic, Muslim woman. There is too much at stake for me and my family in this election (and the world in general). Trump’s supporters already feel justified in demonizing immigrants, Muslims, etc etc etc, imagine what would happen if Trump were to become President?! I feel like a purge would ensue! Not only that, but Trump doesn’t even believe in Climate Change and apparently wants to privatize our National Parks among other terribleeeee ideas. Just, how can people not vote for Hillary?!? How in the world is Trump a viable choice?!? End rant.

      • Christin says:

To our outside the US friends — Please keep speaking up! I keep hoping something will snap voters into reality here, and realize how serious this election is.

As for the debates, I envision a one-sided yelling, pointing, insulting match. She has to keep throwing back his complete inexperience in political office and his refusal to show his tax returns. She needs two or three word phrases to throw in during his rants.

Oops -posted above where I intended to join the discussion.

      • Stacey says:

Moore also said in 2012 he thought Romney would win. Although the chances of Trump winning this year are greater than Romney’s chances in 2012.

Moore also said he made those statements to fire Democrats up and tell them to not get complacent.

      • Tonka says:

I also think Moore is on this campaign to fire up women and POC voters, and for good reason, there is a legitimate concern of voter apathy and a Trump presidency. I still think Trump is a long shot and by no means representative of the US electorate, but his base is rabid and terrifying. He will essentially allow Pence to run the country and that will have serious long term repercussions for women, minorities and the environment.

    • Who ARE these people? says:

My basement in Canada is heated (but unfinished). Open to anyone who comes legally as long as they didn’t throw away their vote.

      • Aussie girl says:

I don’t have a basement in Australia, but I have a beautiful hobby farm just purchased, in wait for it ……. Yackandandah!!!
        I f#*king despises Trump, the man makes my skin crawl. He sells fear and thrives on it. I posted this article yesterday and perhaps a lot have already read it but I think it should be mandory reading for all before they vote. It’s long but a must read;

        http://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2016/07/25/donald-trumps-ghostwriter-tells-all
Apologises I’m not American but I can’t stand this Charlatan

      • SusanneToo says:

No apologies needed, AG. I love the fact that so many citizens of other countries see Trump for what he is. I just wish you could vote, since U.S. policies have such wide ranging effects.

      • vauvert says:

Fully finished Canadian basement here, open for Dem refugees if the unthinkable happens and this sorry excuse for a person becomes the next POTUS. (Can’t believe I wrote POTUS referring to a lying, egomaniacal, racist Neanderthal. Ugh.)
Bonus – it has a kitchen and most importantly, a drinks fridge which, I’m sure, we will all need to anesthetize.

I keep reading the hopeful statement that HRC will destroy him in debates, and I would normally say you are right, but part of the problem is that Drumpf does not use logic, which is a basic requirement of a debate. He just gets loud, obnoxious, hysterical and throws words together, which has so far only served to gather morons to his clarion call. None of his supporters pay attention to the fact that he is a liar, a tax fraud, a bad employer, businessman and husband, who has no experience or training or aptitude for politics, no clue or plan on how he would actually accomplish his “greatness” promise. So I really fear that no matter how calm, polite and logical HRC stays during debates, he and his supporters will truly act like toddlers, hands over ears going La La La really loudly.

      • Who ARE these people? says:

If Putin can influence US elections and foreign money can be hidden, can non-US citizens donate to US campaigns? If they can’t, can they give money to citizens who can? Can they make phone calls? Write letters? Anything?

I suspect that DT core supporters are unshaken and will only dig in, but there are “independents” and last-minute voters and disgruntled lefties who are needed. And we need people in “safe states” to help people in swing states. There is no security from dictatorship.

      • Betsy says:

I have ancestors born in Canada – that do anything for me?

    • Josephina says:

      DON’T MOVE.

WANNA FIX THIS? VOTE IN NOVEMBER.

WOMEN HAVE THE POWER TO VOTE HIM IN OR OUT.

      IT IS THAT SIMPLE.

    • isabelle says:

A lof boomers will vote for him and yes white men.
White men are now down at the bottom with the rest of us and it terrifies them. Especially middle America white voters. Something the Democrats need to see, a lot of people in middle white America are so called scared. The world is changing, media makes it look like we are living in the worst times ever with the shootings/terrorism, wages are stagnant, America is turning brown and less white, etc….If you look at history and the rise of fascists, police states one of the very first tactics is being an opportunist of peoples fear. That fear is manipulated by blaming the brown people and ‘illegals’. Trump is smart in the fact he has figured out how to manipulate that segment. Dems need to wake up and see he has a very good chance of being elected. Especially through states like Ohio, rust belt states. I talked to an older freind that said this is the worst she has ever seen and said “oh no 1968” was nothing as bad as this, lol. That was her logic and she is voting for Trump. He has conned them into actually believing we are living in Americas worst time ever.

  3. Mia V. says:

Putin must be laughing right now.

    • Carol says:

As the rest of the world!

      • Arlene says:

Not really, this Tangerine Tinpot is very close to getting his tiny paws on the steering wheel of a superpower. This is not even remotely funny.

      • LadyAnne says:

Well, actually, from France this looks equally as scary as ridiculous. And I am very aware of the mess that is happening in my own country too. Mess everywhere.

      • NGBoston says:

HRC does not have a warm and fuzzy relationship with Vladmir, whereas Putin has complimented Trump once and of course, it already went to his massively swollen head.

Putin wants Trump to win so he can manipulate him and they can ride horses shirtless and go shoot things I suppose. Wtf

Does Trump not remember the man once was running the KGB? Duh, wake up and better yet… Shut up Donald.

As I tried to show yesterday, where the Clinton Foundation has accepted their millions from is highly questionable but America is mostly over it and now The Orange Lummox needs to shut up about HRC’s deleted emails.

Once that audit is done, we want to see your tax returns Donald. This is getting old and I’m very interested in Hillary’s speech tonite.

      • Persephone says:

Oh Australia’s not laughing, we’ve US military bases, proximity to China, and a habit of following America into war.

    • isabelle says:

He must be as thin skinned as Trump because Hillary got the best of him and he has been a bitter man since.

  4. escondista says:

It’s so obvious that he cares more about himself than Americans. This is no public servant.

    • Josephina says:

He knows who he is. He think the American public is not informed and strongly believes he can win based on fear, hate and ignorance.

The voters have to provehim wrong.

      VOTE.

    • hogtowngooner says:

Was chatting with my mom about the election and she said “He just wants to hear Hail To The Chief every time he walks in a room. That’s it.”

  5. Pinky says:

The man is unhinged, unstable, unsavory, unsophisticated, unimaginative, unfocused, unintelligent, and unelectable.

Except in America, where ignorance is both bliss and apparently presidential.

    • Who ARE these people? says:

Hi Pinky. This is the ultimate outcome of the longtime movement discrediting intelligence, education, expertise and “the elite” overall.

      • Lama Bean says:

        Yes! ITA.

      • Lynnie says:

I don’t get it. Why is mediocrity pushed so hard? Is it the school system, general culture, a sign of the times, what? Also will the pendulum swing back? I don’t like Idiocracy becoming more and more true everyday.

      • Who ARE these people? says:

Lynnie, so glad you’re on board at CB. I don’t get it either. It’s a real perversion of the idea that “all men [sic] are created equal.” Somehow it’s led to a dumbing down. It’s about the lowest common denominator. It must serve the purposes of the $$$ interests.

      • The Eternal Side-Eye says:

        @Lynnie

Well it’s much harder to control an intelligent and informed populace isn’t it? Like others have said every speech Donald Trump talks about his plans there are no actual details or process of how different procedures would work.

Just “I’ll do it. I’ll make it happen.” and his audience is eating it up. I dare say if they were a little more informed they might go, “Hey you know this guy never actually tells us anything but buzz words” but well…God Bless Mediocrity and Joe The Plumbers and The Palins! They worship the flag and don’t ask questions!

      • Lynnie says:

Haha thank you for having me @WATP? 😊

@ESE That is very true. 😪 I’m gonna go eat ice cream now, and tell my sister being smart is cool.

      • Veronica says:

Mediocrity is easy to sway and control. The less informed and apathetic you are, the less you are able or willing to question what’s going on around you.

    • Miss V says:

The accuracy of this statement is genuinely terrifying on so many levels…

    • I Choose Me says:

That was a beautiful summary of the walking nightmare that is Drumpf.

  6. farah says:

You know he’s going INSANE that the ratings for the DNC are higher than the RNC. And he’s supposed to be the show guy.

Every night the DNC arena has been packed for every speaker. Last week people were leaving during the prime time spots. The planning was so poor.

    • Jwoolman says:

The speeches have been really good, also. Positive and encouraging and focusing on issues and working together to solve problems at the local and national level rather than the Republican decision to try to scare everybody to stay under their beds. Not much direct mention of Trump, mainly focusing on the awful stuff said in recent months in a more indirect way. President Obama did mention “homegrown demagogues” but it might take a while for Trump to find out what the word demagogue means and that they were talking about HIM.

They’ve even been smart enough to put up with the hecklers who haven’t adjusted to the fact that Hillary got more votes than Bernie and so she’s the nominee. They were even booing Bernie, he tried to be parental to the toddlers but without much success. Not many of them, but of course the media zeroes in on them rather than the huge number of Bernie supporters who are doing the same as Bernie and supporting the nominee.

    • doofus says:

oh, def. that’s why he did that presser, because he’s like a child who people stopped paying attention to. he cannot stand to not be the center of attention.

      LOOKATME! LOOKATME! LOOKATME! LOOKATME!

add to that the better ratings, the more positive speeches, the higher star-power, the more positive reviews by both dems and repubs, the more attendees…he’s gotta be just SEETHING.

      • Lilacflowers says:

Better ratings, better entertainment, more powerful speakers (how many presidents/Vice Presidents/Speakers/AGs/Secretary of state or defense/Senators per each convention?) better speeches, better paced AND, most importantly and painfully for him, put together by a bunch of WOMEN!!!

    • Kitten says:

Yeah I was watching the news this AM and they said this was, believe it or not, a win for Trump. His campaign people had the goal of getting Trump’s name in the press every day this week to distract from the DNC and he’s managed to accomplish this.

      • EM says:

Perhaps but I think yesterday’s little stunt may have convinced moderate Republicans to vote for Hillary instead of staying home or throwing their votes away. Now we need to make headway with those Bernie supporters throwing away votes via Stein.

      • Veronica says:

Yeah, that’s what I assumed his tactic was, myself. This is also likely the most literal example ever of man interrupting a woman at the table.

  7. Sullivan says:

No , YOU be quiet, you buffoon.

  8. Luca76 says:

The irony is that Trump says he wants to be Nixonian. Well Mr Trump he’s succeeding in the worst way possible. Heck at this rate he may the first candidate to be ‘impeached’ before the election.

    • Lilacflowers says:

And, unlike Ford, I doubt Obama is handing out pardons

    • isabelle says:

Nixon would have been ashamed to been associate with this guy. Nixon wasn’t a good president but swear he wasn’t close to being anything like this Machiavellian Cheeto.

  9. Maya says:

I get headaches by listening to this creature.

America – do yourself and the world a big favour by not electing him as your President.

A genuine question – isn’t this treason? Shouldn’t he be arrested by FBI?

    • Who ARE these people? says:

A lot of folks had that instinctive reaction. We have to hope that at some point he goes over the line. Let the FBI have to investigate HIM!

      • B n A fn says:

I don’t believe he should be given Any clearance for sensitive information until he turns over his tax return so we can see if he is hiding money, borrowing money or have business dealings with Russia. The man is a con artist and a lyer. It’s also proven he lies more than Hillary when he is fact checked.

      • Sparkles says:

I hope he does get investigated and I hope that the media doesn’t drop this issue, the way that they only commented on his defense for Roger Ailes in passing.

George Will stated yesterday that perhaps Trump has a link to Russian oligarchs. Here’s the link:

        http://thehill.com/blogs/in-the-know/in-the-know/289241-george-will-raises-possible-trump-link-to-russian-oligarchs

Yesterday, Trump said he has absolutely never met Putin but during one of the debates he actually bragged about meeting Putin. He also talked about his relationship with Putin during an interview on a news show some time ago. It makes one wonder if there’s a monetary link between Trump and the Russians. And why hasn’t he released his taxes? It’s only fair that the American people know whether the man’s taxes reveal any conflict of interest between his finances and the job he is applying for. The man is an absolute con.

      • Lama Bean says:

He claims to have no ties to Russia, but his son refuted that the same day or the previous day. (Uh oh-getting written out of the will, ET.)

Several outlets are reporting he turned to Russian banks after American banks stopped loaning him money due to 700 bankruptcies.

And don’t forget his campaign manager is known to dance with dictators and the such.

The lies and denials are endless.

      • Jwoolman says:

Lama Bean- one of the comedians (Seth Myers? Trevor Noah?) had a picture of Trump onscreen with the caption “Dancing with the Tsars”….

Poor Trevor sometimes loses it with the craziness of Trump even being a candidate. Trevor is South African and so not immunized against American political oddities, and this is his first experience with a US political convention. The other night he was pointing out that once you elect these dictatorial types, you can’t get rid of them…. The African perspective on such matters can be rather useful for people who foolishly believe “it can’t happen here”. Oh, yes it can.

  10. lucy2 says:

    Appalling. And typical Trump.

  11. Onerous says:

I mentioned this yesterday, but I’ve been listening every time Trump speaks, in its entirety, and it is staggering. The man literally sounds unwell. And I feel like most of the media is doing a piss poor job of relating that. MSNBC has been playing his speeches uninterrupted – at first I found it so irritating, but it’s really genius. Because when you listen to this man speak for an hour or so, it becomes crystal clear that he can barely string together a coherent sentence. How the Republicans allowed this to happen is just staggering to me.

I have Republican friends and I feel bad for them. I mean, what do you do if you’re a small government, fiscal conservative and all the sudden your party is the Racist Hate Party? I know my friends feel completely displaced.

    • Esmom says:

I agree that he’s unhinged and incoherent. And while your reasonable Republican friends may be in a pickle, unfortunately many Repubs seem to be contorting themselves in their efforts to rationalize supporting their party’s guy. And even scarier is the segment of our population who keeps doubling down on their support of Trump and hatred of Hillary. Nothing will convince them that voting for Trump isn’t just irresponsible, it’s dangerous.

I don’t feel sorry for anyone connected to the GOP, as they courted the loonies when it suited them. As Kaiser and many here have said, the chickens have come home to roost. Let’s just hope that reason will ultimately prevail in November.

      • Jwoolman says:

Many people split their ballot, voting for individuals in each Party. So people unhappy with Trump can vote for the sane candidate for President (Hillary) but also vote Republican for other offices. I have to vote for people with whom I disagree on key issues all the time. Nobody completely represents me. But voting for a loon like Trump just because he’s the Republican nominee is a terrible idea.

Even die-hard Party members split their ballot. I asked a local Democrat (who actually was active in the Party) how the ballot looked to her a few years ago. She cheerfully said all the Democrats were good except for one guy X who was awful, so she recommended voting for the Republican for that office….

      • Esmom says:

Jwoolman, I hope so. It’s what I learned from my once moderate dad. Again I think that mentality exists among sane and rational folks, but the Trumpies — and this whole election cycle seems anything but. My sense is that many people who thought Trump was a joke at first have talked themselves into voting for him simply because he “represents a different path” than the “establishment.” The thing is a potted plant also represents a different path…and apparently the bar is that low now. As someone noted above, pretty much anything goes now when it comes to being “Presidential.” Sigh.

    • Cee says:

The Republicans showed weakness not only by allowing this to go on but by having other people like Ted Cruz have a go at it. I was in Boston when he announced he was withdrawing from the race and people were mad because they basically let the path clear for someone like Trump to get where he now is – A PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE.

The Republican Party should tell him “you’re fired” and “you can’t sit with us”

    • Who ARE these people? says:

I don’t feel sorry for Republicans because they allowed this to happen and didn’t speak out or stop it. Moderate Republicans are welcome to get involved with politics too. Meantime they have a moderate Republican running for office this year. She’d represent their interests just fine.

    • Sparkles says:

He is absolutely incoherent. I cannot comprehend why his English is so shockingly poor.

    • Jayna says:

I have been stunned by how inarticulate Trump is in press conferences, etc. He just talks in circles and repeats himself over and over and keeps using his buzz words or phrases also.

      • Jwoolman says:

I saw an interview with Trump’s “spokesperson” Katrina something. Apparently Trump modified his “keep all Muslims out” policy to not mention Muslims but rather people who “could not be vetted”. Katrina just kept repeating that. The interviewer (maybe with CNN) was baffled trying to get details. I began to wonder if Katrina didn’t know what the word “vetted” meant or what the current process was (refugee status and need for relocation first verified by the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, which can take quite a few months; then agencies such as the US Homeland Security get involved, background checks are run through various databases, fingerprints are added, sponsors are found, cultural training, etc. before anybody is allowed on the plane to come to the US – the whole process typically takes at least a couple of years). Katrina could not explain what part of the process Trump wants to change or name a single country that would be on the list for the new procedure. She kept saying the CIA and FBI say the refugees cannot be vetted but never referenced any particular statement or the name of anybody in the agencies that said such a thing. The interviewer kept trying to get a straight answer out of Katrina but she just ran around in circles. The interviewer did go through the list for the current process but that didn’t draw out anything useful either. I think the interviewer should have just started naming countries and asking if people from those countries are not able to be vetted: Iceland yes or no? Luxembourg yes or no? Canada yes or no? It was really crazy. Some comedian showed a clip also and introduced the poor spokesperson as “convicted shoplifter Katrina ….”.

      • Jayna says:

LOL. Reading your recounting of it, I’m shaking my head so hard, I’m getting whiplash.

        I didn’t see that interview.

      • Cran says:

Katrina is a Tea Party person. She is also an idiot. She smiles and parrots the Trumpism of the moment. Parry implies strategy, knowledge and intellect. None of which she displays. She is more of a Stepford Wife than living, breathing human. Most disconcerting to me is she really thinks repeating things means the interviewers take her seriously. It’s 😂 watching various interviewers increasing levels of incredulity as they pepper her with facts.

    • doofus says:

“all the sudden your party is the Racist Hate Party?”

TBT, it wasn’t all of a sudden. they’ve been the Racist Hate Party for a long time, but it was done with code words, and a wink/nod. Drumpf just put it out in the open which the party leaders didn’t want.

      • Onerous says:

I agree… but I do think there is a faction of that party (perhaps those I know personally) who really have been blind to that sort of thing. They maybe aren’t very plugged in politically, so to them it feels like this thing that just got out of hand and now they can’t seem to fix it.

From my viewpoint, you really saw some Republicans notice how out of touch their party was with Mitt Romney. But instead of pulling back, regrouping, figuring it out, they doubled down on crazy.

In fact, the Republican Platform this year is insane. Absolutely 100% insane. It might as well be 1842 over there.

      • SusanneToo says:

At least since 1964. Definitely since ’68.

      • doofus says:

eh, I don’t know if they’ve been blind as much as they’ve been WILLFULLY blind. I think they knew it was there but didn’t acknowledge it or talk about it because they know they needed the support of the crazy base. But I dig…my republican friends would be like “what do you mean?! I’M not racist!” yeah, but your party is…the leaders don’t call out the racist factions = your party is racist.

and I agree about the Romney defeat. the GOP did their famous “post-mortem” after their loss in 2012, which indicated they needed more outreach to women and minorities. apparently, they didn’t take their own advice. as you said, they made it WORSE. by putting in their official platform the support of conversion therapy?…and that PP “sells baby parts”? they DID double-down.

      • Onerous says:

@doofus – Yes! I’m stunned by the racism. Donald Trump called Elizabeth Warren “Pocahontas” THIS WEEK. And I saw 1 person cover it. I don’t know the numbers, but I don’t think he can win the general election without minorities, right?

      • doofus says:

his numbers with minorities are, like, historically bad. something like 90% of black people and 84% of hispanic people don’t like him and won’t vote for him. and it’s like 75-80% of women who hate him too.

yeah, his jab at Warren was so lame…it was like “who is often referred to as Pocahontas”…I was like, “dumbass, YOU’RE the ONLY person who refers to her that way.”

      • Onerous says:

@doofus – He said that but then tweeted, “Pocahontas bombed last night! Sad to watch.” He’s an overt racist. It’s just staggering.

      • Lynnie says:

Jokes on him Pocahontas is an awesome individual. Like oh no, you were instrumental in race relations between your tribe and white people, everybody loved you, and you have a Disney movie made about you. The horror

      • Esmom says:

doofus, yes. One of my favorite tweets this week: “I like Trump because I’m sick of political correctness” translates to “I wish I could say the n-word in public, not just among friends.” …@OhNoSheTwitnt

      • Lilacflowers says:

Background on Elizabeth Warren and “Pocahontas”. She claimed Native American ancestry on some of her paperwork after she was hired at Harvard. Note: AFTER. During her campaign against Senator Centerfold Scott Brown, The conservative Boston Herald got hold of this and tried to claim she made false claims to get special treatment over white guys. Herald columnist and right-wing extremist talk show host Howie Carr started calling her “Pocahontas” and “fake Indian.” Brown started doing it too, alluded to it during their debates, and had his Senate staffers (on our tax dollars) disrupt her events in costumes. It got really ugly. We fired Brown and hired Warren but Brown is now one of Trump’s closest advisers

      • doofus says:

yes, Esmom, whenever ANYONE complains about “political correctness”, it’s simply a cover for “I want to be able to say racist things in public without people calling me a racist”.

man…I had a FB friend complain the other day in the vein of “why can’t I say what I want and disagree with people without being called a racist” and then posted one of those stupid ecards that said something like “Freedom of Speech is for everyone…unless you’re Republican, Christian and/or conservative”.

I had to tell her first, Freedom of Speech does NOT mean freedom from consequences. it does NOT mean that you get to dictate how people feel about what you said, nor does it mean that they don’t get to react/respond to what you said.

second, no gov’t entity is telling you that you’ll be arrested for what you’ve said. and if someone reacted by calling you a racist for what you said, maybe you should think about what you said, and why someone might take it as a racist statement.

      • Jwoolman says:

Remember that many people who identify as Republican or Democrat are not involved in the actual Party. Many don’t even vote in primaries even though they are eligible. They just vote most of the time for Republicans or Democrats, and that’s all that is meant by the label. They may be registered as one or the other. Decades ago when I first arrived in town, I registered to vote as Democrat only because they didn’t have Independent (not a party) as an option like my previous state. So registration as a particular Party doesn’t mean much.

Add in the fact that many people know very little about the candidates for local offices, and it’s quite possible that they don’t know what’s been going on. It’s actually quite difficult to get any details about local candidates. I know because I try to find out, at least to avoid voting for a Ku Klux Klan member…. (Yes, that’s possible here.) It’s really frustrating. The League of Women Voters used to extract answers to questions from them and publish in the local weekly shopper and that was useful, but nowadays most of them don’t bother giving answers or at least useful answers. So my method of googling for info isn’t a whole lot better than closing my eyes and stabbing the ballot printout with a pen. Very occasionally I actually know someone running for local office, so at least I know if they’re decent. I just give up sometimes and don’t vote for the offices where I can’t find out enough about the candidates.

It was almost as difficult to get info on state and national candidates before the Internet. I remember when Dan Quayle (who later became VP) was running for something and there was a local newspaper article about a talk he gave. I read that whole article three times and still knew nothing about his political thinking or proposed policies. I knew how he styled his hair from the article, but really nothing else. Half a newspaper page of useless fluff.

Then when you get to the ballot, some candidates are running unopposed. For example, one year the Democrats didn’t bother running anybody against Republican Senator Dick Lugar which really annoyed me since I would have voted for Donald Duck against Lugar. A lot of people feel obliged to vote for somebody, and if there is only one choice – that’s who they vote for.

Many people are also undecided until they actually enter the voting booth. Then there’s the phenomenon of people wanting to vote for the winner, so when tv news was reporting the vote tallies before all the precincts around the country had a chance to close – that skewed the vote. That’s no longer done.

        Democracy in action.

    • The Eternal Side-Eye says:

To echo others and I don’t mean to suggest your friends are, but the Republican Party has been the racist hate filled party for a very long time.

Much of the ‘small govt’ was only about business and people with sizeable incomes not needing to report anything. If you were a woman, an immigrant, or a minority the ideals and laws the Republican party has been pushing for decades were anything but small.

Donald Trump didn’t suddebly convince millions of racists to become Republican, he made the ones who were already there feel supported enough to invite the whole klan.

What Trump did do, and this also isn’t entirely his fault, was court ignorant voters more than any Republican ever has. This man has dumbed down his rhetoric and words to a level that even some 10 yr olds would feel talked down to.

  12. Bex says:

How is he getting away with this?!?!?

  13. farah says:

    From Twitter:

Regan 1987: Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall.
Trump 2016: Mr. Putin, tear down this firewall.

Died from laughter. Then the fear hit me.

    • Luca76 says:

Here’s the problem. People think Trump is funny, joking. He actually has absolutely no sense of humor. He’s serious. And he’s disturbed.

  14. Cee says:

Dear America, my own country had a bafoon like him as President for 8 years, and she ruined us. Some people are not fit to occupy positions of power or leadership, let alone public office.

This man has just told you he would rather have another country, a could-be-enemy, hack into your government in order to prove someone wrong. He places himself above everyone else, including you. And to think he could have the power to press the button and blow everyone up because he feels like it.

I’m not going to comment on his treatment of women in the workforce because it’s pointless. The only woman able to say anything nice about this is his eldest daughter, who occupies a position of privilege by being related to him, even if she is a good employee,

    • Who ARE these people? says:

Right – the daughter whose fanny he pats on prime-time TV.

      • Persephone says:

Fanny refers to a different part of the anatomy here so after reading that I now have coffee up my nose.

    • Onerous says:

We should be commenting on the allegations of rape against him, including in a sworn deposition by his ex wife and now a new suit brought by a woman who claims he raped her at just 13 years of age. And there are witnesses. This man is currently being sued for rape and is still the Republican nominee.

  15. Giddy says:

I was watching the news conference live when Trump made his invitation to Russia and China to hack Hillary. When CNN switched back to their panel they were stunned. Inviting a foreign government to be involved (more involved?) in our election is so far beyond the pale that it is ludicrous. But no more ludicrous than the idea of Trump as our President.

    • vauvert says:

Being stunned is one thing – why doesn’t the press rip him apart?
Why don’t they flat out call him on the fact that he invites treason? Why doesn’t the female reporter to whom he told to shut up turn to the camera and say something like “there you have it, ladies and gentlemen, the Rep candidate just told a reporter on camera to shut up. This is one of the ways in which he plans to make this country great again – shut down the press.” I mean, republicans are always so concerned about the goverenment potentially infringing on their constitutional right to arms (never mind that I’m certain the founding fathers did not mean buying 30 guns on FB just so you can go shoot up a school or whatever)…. You’d think freedom of the press would be dear to their hearts, too.

      • Betsy says:

Because if they covered the truth, Republicans would freak out at the reality and there would be no horse race. It would be about 60% Clinton, 20% Johnson, 10% Trum and 10% assorted candidates.

  16. B n A fn says:

The man Donald is cray, crazy. I love when Bloomberg asked independents and republicans to elect Hillary because she is the only qualified person in the race And Donald is not sane. The man is a danger to this country. I also liked when Bloomberg said he was not given a million dollars to start his business. Bloomberg is independent and worth 40 billion dollars and endorsed Hillary for president. Anyone want to bet Donald will never go after M Bloomberg for calling him crazy and unhinged.

What a night we had last night. All the speakers were great, starting with The President and ending with Hillary walking out after his speech. They hugged and walked off the stage together, what a night.

  17. Jwoolman says:

Oh, let him babble on. He might eventually jeopardize his security clearance if he hasn’t already. Both candidates are supposed to start getting security briefings tomorrow. Wonder if they’ve quietly decided to provide minimal unimportant information, I think the President does have control over it. They have to provide the same info (or lack thereof) to both, but The Donald is so off the rails that I don’t think Hillary would mind.

I wonder if The Donald has started worrying about the FBI investigation? It’s still so puzzling that a bunch of foreigners would even think to hack Democratic Party headquarters and release the results. That seems more like the idea of a native. Not necessarily The Donald himself, but someone in his campaign or family might have thought it was a neat idea.

A general concern is the size of any loans he may have from Putin’s friends. That could be a major conflict of interest (no pun intended) added to the many other conflicts due to his extensive business projects, and very awkward for a US President. It is curious that Trump was only interested in one part of the party platform about supporting Ukraine against Russia, and his recent statements about letting other NATO countries dangle in the wind if Putin decides to mess with them are a tad disturbing. I don’t know if Putin would go that far, but messing with bordering states is a centuries-old Russian habit (much like the US messes with the rest of the Western Hemisphere, claiming the Monroe Doctrine to justify the meddling).

I wonder if his tax returns would have to reveal names of loan sources if he is deducting interest. If the FBI feels the need to look, they won’t have any trouble getting the info from the IRS. But that would also explain Trump’s refusal to release them himself. He keeps saying that it’s because he’s being audited, but the IRS has said that an audit would not prevent such a release. He did also say he didn’t want people nitpicking over his returns (he says this happened with Mitt Romney?), maybe his creditors names are the big nits he doesn’t want picked. Trump apparently has had trouble getting loans from US banks because of his many bankruptcies – if true, he needs to get the money from somewhere. I’ve heard Deutsche Bank may be another source.

    • Who ARE these people? says:

This is fascinating, isn’t it? We have to hope that there still exist investigative reporters with the impetus and means to get at the truth. And maybe, some judicial authority over his actions as well.

      • Lynnie says:

This would be the scoop of a lifetime, so the fact that major networks and publications are turning a blind eye to it is disappointing.

      • Who ARE these people? says:

or d) all of the above.

      It’s all disturbing.

    • isabelle says:

Where are your taxes Donald should be asked repeatedly over and over agin by the media. He said yesterday he didn’t do business with Russia but other talking heads are said he definitely does business with some of their underpinnings. He needs to release them to clear it up. He called for Obama’s birth certificate to be released, he needs the same exact so investigation he released on Obama.

  18. grabbyhands says:

This is how a country dies.

I’m flabbergasted when we can look to recent history, when there are people still alive who witnessed the rise of fascist dictatorship and saw how it spread to almost swallow the world and yet people STILL defend Trump actually encouraging another country (a country headed by its own hateful despot) to hack into a citizen’s emails. People actually DEFEND it.

So many people cheering this as some kind of victory for truth. And it isn’t. It really isn’t. It’s a poison pill that we’ve taken voluntarily.

      • Jwoolman says:

I don’t think The Donald is very computer-friendly, although I imagine his staff is. He probably tweets from his phone. Either they have better security or the hackers are only interested in the Democrats. The WikiLeaks guy made it clear that he loathes Hillary Clinton and did the leaking specifically to hurt her. Don’t know why he’s so wound up about a foreign politician.

      • Onerous says:

Donald Trump said in a speech yesterday that he “rarely emails” because “I don’t believe in them.”

How can the republicans support this? It’s not politics as usual, it’s insanity. I heard an interview with a Rep Congressman this morning asking about Donald Trump’s reference to Putin and if that is okay. The Congressman responded by deflecting to Hillary = bad, again and again. Would NOT address the question asked.
Paul Ryan particularly disappoints me. Somehow, despite his conservative views, I expected him to stand up more to Trump. I always thought there was a decency within him. But he bent over for Trump like the rest of them. Shameful because they KNOW Trump is a disaster.

    • Jwoolman says:

As time goes on, I suspect we’ll see more prominent Republicans suggesting voting third party or some even outright for Hillary but voting Republican for other offices. They have already mainly shunned The Donald by not actually endorsing him and ignoring the convention. They’re in a difficult position, but we’ll see what happens.

There are many people who usually vote Republican who really are not like Trump. It’s wrong to paint them all with the same sorry brush.

      • Who ARE these people? says:

If they’ve usually been voting Republican for the past 20-30 years, they’ve been voting for a lot of racist, sexist, socially backwards candidates because how else did all those obstructionist hardliners get to Washington, DC?

    • The Eternal Side-Eye says:

Because they want to win at any cost and they realize they opened the door to someone like Donald Trump stepping in and destroying their party from the inside.

It’s true! Although, I’ve been saying that he’s just a male version of Sarah Palin. I mean, this guy makes some of the Republican establishment look like pristine angels of compassion…

I actually would be more scared had the Republicans managed to get someone running who wasn’t so insane. I think it would have been a harder win for Hillary. As it stands now, I’m hoping Trump keeps it up and the Democratic base turns out big time on election day!

Hutson was a Judge Advocate General during part of his 30-year career in the Navy.,

Please read his speech if you didn’t hear him speak at the DNC. It’s very important what he says.

Don’t hold your breath. Instead, anonymous has spent their time hacking Sarah Silverman over her comments on Bernie or Bust during her speech.

      • GingerCrunch says:

S–t, Man! This is how it starts. Hopefully were not reading about this clusterf#%!k in history books decades from now. It’s frightening to sit here and watch it happen before our eyes. My husband tries to reassure me he could never get elected, but I’m not so sure.

    • isabelle says:

Anonymous has done nothing except support Bernie, they hacked into Sarah Silvermans sh&t. So they are salty over Bernie and seem more on Trumps side.

  28. kodakay says:

While they’re hacking, could they please hack into his tax returns? Thanks, we appreciate it..

    • Rayya Kirt says:

Ohoh yes and while you’re hacking Hills I appreciate it and all but you immigrants better stay the eff away. Signed, Orange Chump

  29. LadyAnne says:

I’m not a native speaker, but my english is much better than his. Actually, most of my students’ english is better !! He seems to have such a limited vocabulary range, it’s astonishing. Especially for a presidential hopeful.

  30. Susan says:

Why doesn’t anyone talk about the ties between the Clinton foundation and Russia? There are clear ties there. Also, Finn how so many people on here are from other countries, yet have huge opinions about how we vote. Nothing has gotten better after Obama-and even if you love him, it’s obvious people would rather have him 4 more years than her. Call me all sorts of names, but I’m tired of promises not kept by politicians.

    • Jayna says:

Nothing has gotten better after Obama? Dream on. I live in Florida. What he walked into as POTUS was unprecedented as far as recent times. That takes time to recover from. But Central Florida was shocking. Businesses closing everywhere, restaurants closing. The housing market was in a freefall. Foreclosed homes everywhere. People out of jobs, especially in the construction industry, which was once booming in Florida.

Our recovery turned around, but it took time. There’s no easy fix for something like that. But great strides have been made, and Florida is doing a whole lot better over these last few years, and that’s true all over the country.

      • Susan says:

So race relations are better? Are we safer? Do we have less police brutality? Did he hold Walll Street accountable? If you think Obama saved Florida’s economy and not the governor, that’s great; but it doesn’t change the fact that Hillary isn’t going to keep the same policies as Obama. Her huband’s presidency was different than his and hers will be too. Hillary is owned by the super delegates that got her the nomination, unlike Bernie or Donald.

      • Lynnie says:

Why don’t you ask how race relations are for the increasing amount of Republicans who publicly mocked and denigrated him because of his skin color starting from 2008. And then actively promoted racially divisive policies on their platform that your fellow constitutes ate up to this day. As for police brutality, it’s always been there. Cops unfairly targeting minorities has been a thing ever since post-Reconstruction. It’s just that now we have cameras which film it, and make it harder for people to turn a blind eye/stick their head in the sand. I can’t speak on Wall Street, because I don’t know that much about it, but I imagine that’s a thing that the President could work with Congress on (like everything else) if a certain party didn’t make it their mission to stonewall him at every turn.

Don’t super delegates have to vote according to their primary results? So if Hillary overwhelmingly won and received the delegate votes it’s safe to say she’s owned by the public? Which would make sense, because she’s a public servant. Unlike an orange individual who is all about him, himself, and I. And let’s say Hillary is owned by super delegates. How is that worse than being owned by Putin??

Sidenote: Hi Jayna! I live near Central Florida too! Southwest actually 😊

      • Onerous says:

@Susan – yes. All of these things are categorically, factually better. The economy is better, housing has recovered, employment has recovered. Crime is DOWN, despite the increase in mass shootings. We are better off, and that is fact.

      • Lostmymind says:

You honestly think the Repubs would hold Wall Street accountable? Give me a break! And, as a Floridian, I can tell you Rick Scott is a corrupt piece of garbage and the state is recovering DESPITE his ineptitude.

      • Jayna says:

@Lostmymind, yes, Rick Scott is horrific. What an embarrassment.

        @Lynnie, hello, fellow Floridian.

    • Lynnie says:

“how so many people on here are from other countries, yet have huge opinions about how we vote.”

Well it’s not like the world is interconnected and super globalized or anything. And all those conferences like G8 we go to, or groups like the UN that we’re a part of? Yeah, it’s not like heads of state meet there to represent national interests and work with other countries towards common goals. Also god forbid, let’s say a terrorist attack happens on U.S soil during a Trump presidency. Which allies is he going to call on if he’s insulted all of them? You know how we put sanctions on countries with leaders we don’t like? No sane leader likes Trump… Nevermind the fact that millions of immigrants, their families, migrant workers, and companies have dealings with us and profits directly linked to how we do as a country. Also, there’s this thing called empathy, and maybe our foreign friends don’t want to see us go through 4 years of hell. But no, let’s channel our inner isolationist because it makes us a rebel and shows we’re a “True ‘Merican!”

As for all the other drivel in your post, read a political thread or two on this site. All your talking points have been debunked, and there are links and explanations where you can learn from.

      • Erinn says:

Yeah, God. How dare us ‘foreigners’ not just shut our mouths and go about building the walls ourselves? Since America is somehow the center of the world, but nobody else is allowed to have opinions on it.

Sorry. When I’m living closer to the USA than I am to other provinces, I’m going to have an opinion. When I work for an American company in their satellite office, I’m going to have an opinion. When our closest allies are the USA I’m going to have an opinion. Especially when a megalomaniac, ignorant, racist, temper tantrum throwing oompa loompa could be the person in control of nuclear codes.

      • Macscore says:

Perfect response, Lynnie! THANK YOU. I’m a foreigner, living abroad – with family in America, and YES, I actually do have (a) a right to a political opinion, and (b) a vested interest, as a citizen of the world, in what happens in this election. I do not know ONE SINGLE PERSON who understands how the hell Trump got this far. Please please please America – Never Trump.
Thankfully, the power, energy and intelligence on display at the DNC this week is making me cautiously optimistic.

    • Jwoolman says:

Susan- the Clinton Foundation is a charitable foundation, not a profit-making institution. It gets donations for its international projects from around the world. I would not be surprised if Russia also contributed. That money does not go into the Clintons’ pockets.

While you are looking up the foundation to get more details straight from the source – also look for how Hillary handled any potential conflict of interest while she was Secretary of State. Trump is going to have a much harder time with the conflict of interest issue because of the nature of his businesses. Previous Presidents have done such things as divesting, setting up blind trusts etc. I know Hillary also limited contributions to the foundation from foreign governments for the duration, even though it was not a for-profit business but a charity. That shows you how serious it is to avoid any appearance of conflict of interest.

One person who refused to do any of this was Dick Cheney, who maintained his association with Halliburton while Vice President. Halliburton is infamous for over billing services in Iraq during the occupation, for instance. Why did they even get the contracts, considering their association with Cheney? Such conflicts of interest are actually very important to resolve. Trump just vaguely says his kids will run things in his absence, but that isn’t sufficient.

      • Onerous says:

Yeah… I’m going to be actually quite shocked if there is ANY impropriety surrounding the Clinton Foundation. These two have been through it with investigations, my guess it they’re going to keep everything above board.

However, a Non-Profit Organization needs only to give 5% of its earnings away each year to maintain status. The rest can absolutely be given in salaries, so technically, even if the Clintons did profit, it would not be illegal at all.

    • The Eternal Side-Eye says:

Jesus Christ Susan, stop being a stereotype.

You’re made that people from different countries are informed and passionate enough to care about our politics?

“So race relations are better? Are we safer? Do we have less police brutality? Did he hold Walll Street accountable?”

Could you repeat more conservative talking points?

Race relations weren’t going to magically get fixed because we elected a black man. The country is not the white guy who always references his one black friend. Race relations are worse because we are now openly confronting the racism that has always been there and some individuals are steaming mad that as Michelle eloquently put it a black woman’s children are now playing on a lawn of a house built by slaves.

But instead of you complaining why don’t you tell us what mistakes you think Obama made and how he should have fixed police brutality. Be specific Susan. I always dislike it when people have many complaints but suddenly turn silent when you ask them for their own plans and ideas.

    • Original T.C. says:

Yes obviously Hillary is the one who needs to be investigated here and not Trump who has a LONG list of legal and fraud issues. as usual let’s take a pinch of salt regarding Hillary and create Mount Everest out of it while doing the reverse for male candidates.

      “So race relations are better?”
LOL. I love how the election of Obama brought out the racist in the open and HE is the one to blame for it. Or Obama showing sympathy to Black parents for the senseless murder of their child makes him “divisive”. But best yet I love how it is up to ONE Black man to make “race relations better” using what? Magic Black powers? No of course it’s not the responsibility of fellow citizens. I’m sure you feel like you “did us a solid” by electing him. Not the country.

Just like Obama’s election brought out the racist, Hillary’s will too. I look forward to the sexist coming out of hiding so we can see their faces. But I’m sure it will all be Hillary’s fault! *Shakes head*

    • Jwoolman says:

Susan- As long as the US President has the ability to start WWIII all by himself or herself, and the USA has a military budget exceeding to total military budget for everybody else in the world and a huge stockpile of weapons of mass destruction, the rest of the world certainly has a right to speak up about who might become President of the USA. That will definitely affect them, but they don’t get a vote.

Do you honestly think nobody elsewhere should have questioned the wisdom of electing Adolph Hitler in 1930s Germany? That his election had nothing to do with anybody outside Germany? That his policies were purely a domestic matter?

If our economy crashes and burns, that will affect other people as well. If we have an environmental disaster, likewise. Remember Chernobyl? That affected songbird populations here. A volcanic eruption far, far away can give us cloudy skies for a year and loss of crops. If we send off enough nuclear weapons to kill people elsewhere, even if miraculously there is no retaliation we still will have to deal with radioactive fallout and massive amounts of dust in our part of the atmosphere (making those nukes both homicidal and suicidal).

The world is interconnected. What happens here affects others in the world and vice versa. That’s always been true, it’s just especially true today because of modern technology.

      • ochre5 says:

I am a foreigner and this is my opinion:

The fact is that everywhere in the world there is a trend of anti career politician. The reason Trump is so popular is that he is not a career politician. People do not trust politicians anymore, hence Brexit. We are all allowed to have an opinion on the stupidity of american politics and policies ( middle east) as it affect us all globally as the US dollar is the currency of choice for most people around the globe. Also one nation cannot continue to remain the most powerful as all empires rise and fall, as history will tell you. And NO america is not the most powerful and richest nation. It is the one most indebted at 19 trillion $$$$.

    • Jaded says:

@Susan – as a Canadian who probably knows more about your current political race than most of the die-hard Trumpies, I really resent being referred to as “a foreigner who has huge opinions about how we vote”. We are your partners in trade and a stabilizing influence in global issues. Trump’s unhinged and violent bloviating about Muslims, Mexicans, women, his admiration for some of the worst political criminals in history, not to mention his out-and-out deceitfulness, will affect not only Canada’s economy but the entire world and quite possibly end up with the U.S. in a state of internecine conflict not seen since the Civil War. Is that what you want? Cuz that’s what you’re gonna get if you continue your support of this maniac.

    • isabelle says:

It takes 10 secs for you to Goggle the IRS/government is looking into it. Of course the house Republicans submitted the request for it to happen.

    • Veronica says:

America is literally the wealthiest and most powerful country in the world. Of course other countries care about what happens here. We do not live in a bubble where our actions do not effect other people.

  31. lilacflowers says:

Someone needs to sit the rabid orange Manchurian candidate down and explain how many people went to prison over Watergate. Also, what the penalty for treason is.

    • Betsy says:

Slate’s article said that it doesn’t rise to the level of treason as outlined in the Constitution; the definition fits the bill for this layman.

  32. allison says:

We need mainstream media to start taking this guy DOWN. Stop treating him with any revarance or respect (he deserves neither!) His most fervent supporters DO NOT care if he kills kittens, as long as they get “their” country back to when minorities and women knew their place and the white man was king. We need the the moderates and the independents on the side of HRC and the media continually hammering this guy until November would help greatly! This election is not about Dem vs. Rep. It’s about sane vs. insanity. I plead with anyone with a vote to please think about the future of our country and the world.

  33. Paul says:

Ummm, that’s what you call treason!!

  34. jferber says:

This is 1984 and Brave New World coming to life for real. How is Trump forming an alliance with Putin, our enemy? Does this mean if Trump wins, then Russia will annex many Eastern European countries and Trump would do nothing as he has no use for NATO? Really? Will the U.S. then form a treaty with Russia against the rest of the world? Ronald Reagan should be rolling in his grave. What’s scarier is all the defenses of Trump I’ve read on other sites. His supporters literally don’t care what he says or does, only that he’s for white supremacy, which puts them “on top” again. To paraphrase FDR, “He may be a son of a bitch, but he’s OUR son of a bitch.” Somehow these rabid racists believe that Trump will help them. Trump just stiffed a little girl group that sang for him at a rally. I’m talking about little 8 year old girls and he effed them over. LOOK IT UP. I am not making this up. He has no respect for anyone except dictators. He has contempt for the American people and has screwed them over for years. Now I understand what a mob is and mob mentality. The establishment Republicans are criminally irresponsible and cowards.

  35. Amy says:

Go Trump! I can’t wait to say President Trump. If he is so bad, how is he winning in polls?
If he is so bad, why are Dems so threatened by him? If it’s so obvious of a choice, how is he leading in every battleground state?

I have a right as much as anyone to be proud of who I am voting for-Go Trump!

    • Lambda says:

I don’t feel threatened by Trump. Ego-driven inept greedy males have always been there. I feel threatened by people like you (I don’t know how not to make it sound harsh and personal), who think Trump is in anyway competent, useful, and, I wonder more and more, sane. Trump is a political pustule, OK, no biggie, there’ve been others and there will be others. But millions of Americans praising and trusting this orange zit – that’s disappointing. And why? Malaise, frustration, lack of vision, a dash (or a handful) of racism, political incuriosity.

    • Lilacflowers says:

@Amy, Hitler lead in the polls too. Why?

    • The Eternal Side-Eye says:

“If he is so bad, how is he winning in polls?”
      1. Polls can often be inaccurate as they were for Brexit and the Scottish Independence.
      2. He’s courted a population of conservatives that typically didn’t vote. On average his supporters tend to be white, middle to lower income, with education on average college or lower working manual or minimum wage jobs.

“If he is so bad, why are Dems so threatened by him?”
You’re conflating shock with fear. Dems are shocked that for as low as the Republican Party ever sank in the past that this is what they have come to. I have never supported Republicans in my life and even I find this pitiful.

“If it’s so obvious of a choice, how is he leading in every battleground state?”
Polls are an inaccurate and outdated way to measure what’s actually happening on the ground.

You can be proud, if nothing else you’ll always have that.

    • Tina says:

Amy, I am legitimately curious. Why are you voting for Trump? What specific policies do you think that he will put in place that will benefit your country?

    • isabelle says:

You do have the right to be proud of it but you all need to respect the other side as well. Seems the right are so thinned skinned they can’t take criticism or debate. Oh and you’re voting for a racist opportunist. Not saying he racist but he is taking the opportunity to stoke racist dialogue with nationalistic fear. If you do anything this Amy please brush up on the history of Fascist nations and the rise of the “Law and Order” candidates.

  36. Curtis says:

I am an African-American male; and I will be voting for Donald. He isn’t tied to special interests, race relations have gotten only progressively worse, and more and more of my friends are being shot down in the streets during Mr. Obama’s reign. Hillary has covered up her husbands sexual proclivities for years. They don’t have a real marriage and I KNOW she and her husband called Mr. Obama a word beginning with N in 2008.

Why don’t we ask Chelsea how her dad treats women like we’ve asked Ivanka over and over?

And if the Russians are able to hack into our servers, HOW MUCH MORE DANGEROUS ARE THE 30,000 emails Hillary lost?

    • Lostmymind says:

He isn’t tied to special interests because he’s gone bankrupt so many times the special interests won’t lend him any money.
And why on earth do you care what she does or her husband does in their sexual activities? For that matter, how is Trump, who is currently being sued for rape and has had 3 wives, with rumors he cheats on them, not bringing up as many red flags for you, since fidelity seems to mean so much to you?

      • Curtis says:

All I’m saying is no one is asking Chelsea the same questions you all continually bring up to Ivanka. How can Hillary be a champion of women when she has hushed so many of them that accused her husband? Where is Trump being sued for rape? PLEASE GIVE SPECIFICS.

        You have lost your mind.

      • Lostmymind says:

Links never work for me on this site. Google Trump and rape. I imagine HRC is trying to keep her marriage intact in order to appear more palatable to people like you who desperately need to know what goes on with their private parts.
You still didn’t say anything about Trump’s multiple marriages and rumored infidelities.
And I’ve lost my mind from listening to this numbnuts.

      • Cran says:

Curtis the lawsuit was filed in May. There is an affadavit from an eye witness. This stems from Trumps friendship with Jeffrey Epstein (convicted, registered for life sex offender) & Trumps attendance at one or more of Epstein’s parties where underage girls supplied massages & sex. The lawsuit discloses rape, physical abuse as well as the victim being tied down. The victim was 13 at the time IIRC.

    • Lynnie says:

The person you’re voting for is calling for Russia to hack her tho? More than likely is being financed by Russian banks? Putin endorsed him?

As far as I know Chelsea hasn’t been paraded anywhere like Ivanka has, so the media doesn’t feel compelled to ask her anything. Out of sight, out of mind and all that.

Is Trump’s mail-order bride, who happens to be his 3rd wife, a “real marriage” to you?

Trump has covered up his business failures, cheating his employees, and sex scandals for years.

Obama had the bad luck of being president during all these cop killings, but that doesn’t mean he’s responsible for them. Sure his response could be stronger, but I can see how his hands would be tied by people who think he’s a race-baiting Muslim loony. (Of which your preferred candidate led the witch hunt). Not to mention race relations certainly won’t get better with the platform the Republican party is running on this year. News flash: REPUBLICAN ELITES (who Donald is representing by proxy of running on their ticket) DO NOT LIKE BLACK MEN.

Donald of course is tied to special interests. You seem him pandering to evangelicals, small business leaders, and Russia. Not a coincidence. Also, the establishment looves Pence, who according to Trump, “would be in charge of domestic AND foreign policy.” I’m sure Pence has a lot of favors to return.

Neveremind the Pandora Box that Trump opened which led to an upswing in anti-rhetoric against people like “African-American male(s)” like you (supposedly). THE KKK ENDORSED HIM.

You are lost and gave me a headache my friend. Have fun wasting your vote this November.

      • Curtis says:

How can anyone stop a group from endorsing them? If ISIS came out today and endorsed Hillary, would that change you voting for her?
Hillary is the very definition of a panderer. Have you seen how her views have changed? She was against gay marriage just 5 YEARS ago.

I think you might be wasting your vote for a woman who served Ted Kennedy who said Obama would be fetching his coffee. How racist is that?

        TRUMP/PENCE 2016

      • Curtis says:

By the way, Chelsea will be paraded about tonight when she introduces her mom. Next.

      • Lynnie says:

This will be Chelsea’s first appearance on the campaign trail, no? That doesn’t negate my point that she hasn’t been on it before this point, while Ivanka has. The media cannot go after anyone and ask them about their dad’s actions towards women without having a valid reason/opportunity too. Ivanka gives them the opportunity by campaigning, interviewing, and speaking with them while having the unfortunate luck of being the daughter of a man who spews that crap. I’m sure if Chelsea becomes more active the same questions will be asked of her.

You can’t stop a group from endorsing you, but you can denounce them. Any sane politician would denounce the support of a hate group. I’d bet my whole college tuition that if ISIS endorsed Trump his Twitter fingers would’ve been typing away blasting their support. With the KKK though, he hems and haws, and has even courted them/policies a few times. Those are not the actions of someone who is magically going to fix “race relations” lmao. Not to mention the fact that the KKK found enough of themselves in Trump to publicly pledge their support to him. That doesn’t scare you? Give you pause for thought? Make you go hmm?

“Have you seen how her views have changed?”

Gee, I hope that if I spent 40+ years of my life doing something I’d change too. Yes, I’m aware she panders heavily. Not a fan of it at all, but you know what, so does every other politician across the U.S. Trump is KING of that, and he’s only been campaigning for a year. Hell, next week he’ll backtrack on something he said yesterday, but that’s perfectly A-OK if he’s not connected to “special interests” right.

Again, you’re giving me a headache because you don’t care about facts. I can see that by the way you conveniently ignored all my rebuttals to your talking points, and went with the “But, but she panderS!” argument. You’re reaching for something to support your emotionally based fear of god knows what. That’s cool though, again, have fun wasting your vote come November.

      • Betsy says:

Curtis, they can’t. But unlike the Orange with the NeoNazis, a candidate can disavow the endorsement.

    • The Eternal Side-Eye says:

Aw I love how we have so many comments from new people who just really want to let us know first and foremost that they’re black.

That’s awesome fellow black person. I too like the rap music ya dig?

But I think the better question is if you do actually want people to take you seriously is how much you genuinely care about race relations getting worse. Because someone who does care and is seeing their ‘friends’ get shot down in the street would be really well informed about the societal and structural role of the police and police unions that has nothing to do with Obama. In fact many of these crimes committed by police have it legislated that when an officer is charged that the charge must first go through a special court of police officers to determine if the charges are legitimate. Super weirdly enough so many cases never make it past that point. But I’m sure you knew that.

After all talking about police brutality without laws and unions is like complaining about the heat without mentioning global warming.

      • Curtis says:

Your condescension isn’t lost on me; I like sports, I’m guessing you do too? Still, my brother and friends are still being shot in the streets. Obama can make a million speeches about how things need to change, and yet he hasn’t investigated all the police departments where our fellow black brothers have been shot or beaten. The Justice Department could be doing that, right? Also, did you know unemployment is UP in the African-American community under Mr. Obama? Home ownership is down.

You can sit up on your high perch and think I’m alone in my thinking, but there are many black people like myself who don’t think Mr. Obama has made race relations any better and really has just divided us even more.

I respect your right to vote Hillary, please don’t knock my right to vote for Mr. Trump. Which, by the way, was backed by 82% of Republicans in Congress and only 78% Democrats.

      • Tina says:

Curtis, do you think that Trump would make it a priority to investigate police departments for racist shootings if he became President? Because I sure don’t. In addition, Trump’s desire for protectionism will make rates of unemployment and lack of home ownership worse, not better, if he becomes President. He is insane, yes, but that’s not as important as the fact that his policies (such as they seem to be) will make the US a poorer, more divided and more miserable country.

      • Lynnie says:

Doesn’t the AG investigate police departments. Which Eric Holder is doing. Which many police unions don’t like and actively push back against. The same unions backed by your Republican friends and Trump.

You talk in (easily-disproven) circles. What would you have President Obama do with race relations? Wear a daishiki, with his fist in the air, and tell racists to take a hike? How is he the sole factor for a deeper divide with race? What did he do, besides be a black man who happened to win the Presidency twice?

I can’t speak for ESE, but I’m knocking your vote for Trump, as are many others, because there is NOTHING there. He’s hot air, smoke and mirrors, no plan, cannot articulate himself, has the emotional maturity of a 3-year old, the way he’s green-lit fear and intolerance, and so on. There’s no redeeming factor about him that can make someone go, “Well I don’t agree with voting with him, but I can see why someone might.” Don’t get mad at people on the street calling you out, get mad at the person you’re supporting. Hold him accountable, make him do better. He’s only gotten this far and unhinged, because his fans have let him get this far and unhinged.

      • The Eternal Side-Eye says:

Oh I know a black man just like you. Will tell you up and down everyday how he’s voting Trump and Trump will clean up the system and fix everything. Course he can’t actually go any further in his explanations than that. In fact most political conversations with him turn into me watching as he repeats every talking point he can remember. If I challenge his view in anyway or give him a complex question he shuts down fast and hard.

So let’s go to your opinions.

The Justice Department has investigated multiple police unions for improper handling and published reports actively condemning several police districts and unions. Of course we do have a system of govt, which I’m sure you’re well informed about, that keeps the President from going down to those districts firing everyone and starting from the ground up. State govt vs national govt.

Again Curtis, saying blank is up and blank is down without going into any of the complex reasons why doesn’t make your case. Why do you think it’s down? Do you think it has to do with the fact that black communities were in worse positions than their white counterparts and when a recession hit that nearly decimated the economy those black communities that had already been struggling were unable to bounce back as quickly or as easily? Do you think the proven discrimination that occurs that hinders minorities from achieving the same level of work and employment as their white counterparts would further hinder their ability to get a home? Do you think the lack of employment could make it even more difficult for banks which have also been proven to discriminate against minorities to give them a loan or a mortgage which would contribute to their being able to attain a home? What about refinancing? Mortgage relief? Please let’s really talk about this, no more buzz words or talking points phrases.

    • Skylar says:

      Yes yes yes.

I’m Hispanic and voting for Trump. He’s not racist! He just wants US to have the same exact protocol every other nation in the world has and include harsh deportation laws. I’m from Texas. Do you know how many farmers I know on the border who deal with cartel on a weekly basis?!

He’s brash. He’s so freaking arrogant. People wonder why conservatives prefer Trump over Killary. All the terrible, derogatory things liberals say about Trump is STILL better than the other option!!

      • Olenna says:

“Killary”? Seriously, what is that suppose mean? And, just what has Trump said or done that’s convinced you he’s not a racist? Or, is he just a bigot?

      • Betsy says:

That has rather more to do with America’s insatiable appetite for illicit drugs than it does for immigration.

      • Tina says:

All countries have deportation laws. Most countries don’t have enormous expensive walls dividing them from other countries. Most countries don’t bar people from entry solely because of their religion. Vote for Trump if you want, but make no mistake, his policies bear little resemblance to the policies of other countries around the world (and, not incidentally, are strongly fascist).

      • The Eternal Side-Eye says:

Oh no, I KNOW why conservatives prefer Trump over Hilary, it’s the up and down denials of their racism, sexism, and xenophobia that are hilarious.

Since you are Hispanic I’d suggest that if Trump is elected you make the wise decision to carry your citizenship papers and social security card everywhere. The people checking them will likely stop you repeatedly because of your name and skin tone. I assure you, you’ll have to prove you belong in this country repeatedly.

Funny how the cartel discussion never focuses on the American appetite for drugs. Heroin is the big thing now right? Nope, just always those bad cartels giving people exactly what they want. Those poor poor people who just can’t take responsibility or have any kind of self control.

    • Josephina says:

He knows who he is. He think the American public is not informed and strongly believes he can win based on fear, hate and ignorance.

The voters have to provehim wrong.

      VOTE.

    • Mary Mary says:

Curtis: Research and read material regarding Trump’s legal battles and issues.
If you really care to be informed and are concerned about the character of a political candidate

mary mary, this is wonderful, thank you.
however, i think curtis is only concerned with making america great again, and that sentiment has no room for logic or facts or consciousness, really.

    • Jwoolman says:

Curtis – Bill Clinton is not running for President. Donald Trump is running for President. So Donald’s treatment of women is relevant, Bill’s is not.

Also Ivanka invites such questions about her father because she wants to give her views on it. Ivanka is an important part of Donald Trump’s campaign. It makes no sense at all to ask Chelsea such questions about her father and she isn’t offering to talk about it.

Actually, it’s not so much that police attacks on black citizens are increasing (i think the numbers are actually down) but that people are able to videotape it on the spot and send it around the world in an instant. Such things have always been happening, it’s just that now clear proof is easier to get that people who are not eyewitnesses can view. Same thing with race relations – things are just more in the open, racism didn’t suddenly get worse but just more undeniable.

    • Josephina says:

Race- relations in America have always been a problem. Start looking from WITHIN to fix a problem.

Racism has been institutionalized since the Reconstruction Era. What that means is that polcies have been written and enforced to prevent blacks from having equal rights (See education, housing, judicial system, voting rights, access to resources and advocacy, healthcare, employment, entrepreneurship, banking), from being self-sufficient and to stay consistently gainfully employed. We are not seeing justice served as it should be; and we are not specifically demanding or challenging enough of the existing statutes or regulations. How many black men do you know organize and lobby for judicial/legal change or try to promote a new bill to be introduced by their state repesentatives? How many black men are focused on economic empowerment by forming alliances with interested parties to break down institutionalized racism?

To think or imply that Obama is not affected by the racism is equally foolish. Obama is focused on ALL Americans and not just those that look like him.

The presence of Obama as POTUS represents to some a loss of privilege and a threat to the erosion of blacks remaining in the lowest socioeconomic status of our society.

Trump is now with a 3rd wife because of committment issues and infidelity. He continues to objecify women in public and openly disrespects or insults people who are racially, physically and religiously different than him. His thin-sknned persona is properly demonstrated through his repeated negative rhetoric and race-baiting. Add to boot he has yet to offer viable solutions to any current problems that exist. Oh, and he lacks stamina to stay away from the irrational and deviant members of our society. Instead, he embraces them.

You are free to vote for whichever candidate appeals to you. However, self-absorbed Trump has made it clear that he is not interested in the concerns that you have posted.

  37. mire usted! says:

If this is how Trump behaves in front the camera, it’s scary to think of what he does behind the camera. This is very dangerous behavior. Making deals with our adversarial country to influence our country’s election? Promising Putin he’ll be “rewarded”? This has to be illegal or at least generate an investigation. Right? Lock him up!

    • Curtis says:

You really don’t understand sarcasm. If Russia is really doing this, why isn’t the current administration trying to find how they got access? Where is the investigation? If they can hack this, OF COURSE they could have hacked Hillary’s emails.

      • Lambda says:

Um, I thought FBI is currently investigating the breach? And I’ll take (for three seconds) at face value the fact that Trump was only jokingly inviting a foreign power to meddle in America’s internal affairs. How do you find that appropriate or sober?

      • Luca76 says:

Presuming you are right. You really don’t understand the position of the presidency if you think its appropriate for a presidential candidate to be sarcastic about something of this import. Putin is strongly suspected to have interfered in the elections of many less influential countries. Even the possibility that the Russians are interfering in our election should be a grave matter. This isn’t a reality show and we shouldn’t be trusting a man who would joke about Putin subverting our democracy.

      • isabelle says:

You don’t joke about sh*t like that on a NATIONAL stage. Even if it was sarcasm, you don’t say sh8t like that, ever as a worldwide political figure. He wasn’t on SNL, he was in a press conference in front of the world….and also Curtis I know you aren’t that dumb, no way are you that dumb. You know he meant in it. You would do better if you defended what he said versus calling it sarcasm.

      • Persephone says:

So would it be ok for Hillary to sarcastically suggest North Korea cross the DMZ? Obama sarcastically suggest China keep building islands?

  38. Olenna says:

He’s crazy, but very dangerous. I just hope to g*d the Dems and Hilary having nothing else to hide. They can’t afford any more mistakes, anymore shady disclosures. I’m still SMH head over Hilary’s server, the Bernie emails and Debbie W-S. It never ceases to amaze me how even the most experienced pols get tripped up by their own craftiness and egos, with John Edwards being one glaring example of a self-made shitstorm.

    • Betsy says:

There was nothing crafty about the DNC emails. Bernie and Hillary were basically clients; some employees didn’t like one of the clients much. Imagine what kind of stuff your work emails would say if they got hacked.

      • Olenna says:

I understand and have known for a very long time that email (and social media) is not ‘your friend’. There’s no excuse for politicians not being on their guard with this knowledge as well.

      • isabelle says:

…and it was like 7 emails out thousands but of course it was exaggerated to make it sound like it was thousands out of thousands. Also as you said it nothing more than marketing businees. Its not a federal organization its basically a PR firm for politicians.

  39. Hammersley says:

And yet, Trump has managed to push HRC off the stage in the midst of her convention and seems to be living rent free in the heads of every media personality and Dem in the land.

He set a trap and the press and the DNC walked right into it. Trump likes it when people lose their minds – it keeps him in the news.

You are being played – and he is winning.

  40. Guesto says:

How anyone with an ounce of intelligence, regardless of how disenfranchised or disillusioned they are with politics, at this stage of the game, could choose this ignorant, unfit-for-any-purpose moron over Clinton is just beyond bewildering.

  41. Barbara says:

No filter Trump. Yea, just what we need in the White House.

  42. TeamAwesome says:

With congress and its obstructionist Tea colored majority, it is amazing how the President has been able to get as much done as he has.
Real, lasting change happens at the LOCAL level. Don’t fault the President for all that’s bad. look to your city, county, and state leaders. Your community.

  43. Mysonsy says:

What is most shocking to me are Trump supporters who don’t see Trump’s lies and sheer lunacy. The man is bonkers and a liar, scammer, unethical and I don’t get the supporters who believe his lies and think that this wealthy bigot has anyones best interest at heart. I guess the ignorant bigots who support him and his ridiculous wall will believe anyones lies as ling as they cater to their fears and bigotries.

  44. Mary Mary says:

Moishe Mana, has offered to give $1 million to the charity of Trump’s choice if he makes his tax returns public. He joins an unnamed Republican donor working with David Brock who has made a similar offer of $5 million.

“Through Trump’s financial documents, we are trying to break into the image that he’s portraying to the American people,” said Mana, a real estate developer in Miami. “He says he’s a successful businessman who wants to do for the country what he did for his company. Well, go ahead, show me the money.” 🙂

    • anon says:

It is not required by the law for any Presidential candidate to release their tax returns. So, trump is not breaking any laws. It is however ILLEGAL under official secrets act to use private emails, to not archive emails if you are a government official.

Why should Trump release his taxes? Even if there is nothing illegal or wrong, there are millions that will shout about him not paying his ‘fair share’. The same people that will do their best to avoid paying taxes will shred him.

If Moishe Mana wants to donate to charity, go ahead and donate. Why make it conditional? That’s not charity..

      • Tina says:

If Trump is not paying his fair share, he deserves to be “shredded.” But that’s not the real reason he’s not releasing his tax returns. The real reason is because they will show he doesn’t have nearly as much money as he says he does, and he’s a terrible businessman.

  45. jferber says:

If you vote for Trump, then you are voting for the apocalypse. I can’t say it any more strongly. If, God forbid, he were a Democrat (which he once was) ALL Democrats would renounce and defeat him. How on earth did this travesty of a Republican Party allow this to happen? Where are the 2 Bush presidents speaking out? Why is Paul Ryan acting like Trump’s bitch? Power at any cost, even the decimation of our country, is profoundly un-American. I don’t know how else to say it.

    • isabelle says:

Bush W did speak out a bit and said he fears he was maybe the last Republican President for many years to come, the Bushs hate Trump.

  46. EM says:

So the end justifies the means for you and other Trump-bots. The initial leak merely showed that the DNC leadership had a preference for one candidate over the other much like the preference for Obama versus Hillary was there in 2008. Where was the hacking and leaked emails from those days? That’s right nothing since the Russians are only out for Hillary because Putin feels that she embarrassed him years ago. Nothing from the Republicans either – funny how that works.

  47. teresa says:

One has to wonder why on earth Gov. Pence would end his own career by hooking up with that orange clown? This is what happens when a party plays to #TheAngryElderlyWhiteMob. I wonder if they will learn from this? I doubt it.

  48. jferber says:

To buy the “sarcasm” defense of Trump and his minions, you’d have to be very cavalier about the most serious situations that face this world. Imagine President Trump being sarcastic at a press conference, “I know the nuclear codes now. Should I push them or not? What do you think? You know I’m a servant of the people,” only to later “confess” it was all a joke and he was only kidding? Would that be funny or acceptable to you? How about a close-up of his fingers just above the buttons that would start nuclear catastrophe? Oh, that impish president! This is not Prince George we’re talking about, a mischievous and adorable 3 year old, but a 70 year old orange man who sees the world in the palm of his hand and is already delirious with delusions of unlimited power. He is unhinged. I’ve never said that before, but now I’m convinced. In the past, with a big grain of salt, he could be amusing because of his outrageous antics and words. Well, the court jester now is very close to taking the throne. And the mofo Republicans are sitting on their hands and cheering him on. When Trump loses, the Republicans are going to face the righteous fury of a population betrayed. All a fine joke, right?

  49. Lilacflowers says:

Because breaking into DNC headquarters worked out so well for the GOP and rhe nation the last time

Hacking is a crime and Gerald Ford isn’t around to hand out pardons

  50. anon says:

Ooh, give it a freaking break. The Russians and the Chinese and everyone else ALREADY has Hillary’s emails. How many of you even work in IT or understand how easy it is to hack a server? If the best US corporations lose their secrets to the Chinese, you think Hillary’s server in a closet was safe? Anyways, hasn’t the DNC told us that these are personal emails? So, what state secrets are you worried about being released?

  51. Tina says:

I wonder if Trump uses the same Russian troll farm as the pro-William and Kate bots who were around a few months ago. They have the same incoherent style.
