Hillary Clinton slaps back at ‘ill health rumors’ by opening a jar of pickles

wenn29423190

For a week now, the Trump Campaign has been trying to make Hillary Clinton’s health an issue. What could have been a moment of “okay, let’s get both candidates to release their comprehensive medical records” quickly turned sour as Trump surrogates called Hillary “brain damaged” and “epileptic.” In the words of many political analysts, Hillary Clinton’s health has become Trump’s new Birther conspiracy/campaign. It amazes me and terrifies me that the Republican nominee for the presidency of the United States spends so much time spinning these kinds of conspiracy theories. Anyway, Clinton made an appearance on last night’s Jimmy Kimmel Live and they ended up talking about her health and other stuff.

Here’s Hillary talking about the conspiracies around her health. Kimmel makes her open a jar of pickles, which she does really well! I struggle more than Hillary with jars of pickles. #PickleTruther #ShowUsYourPickleJar #HillaryCofoundedPickleISIS

This is the start of the interview, the most political part. They also talk debate-prep.

Hillary talking about Bill’s love of balloons.

Hillary reads Trump-quotes with a straight face.

While I made up my mind to vote for Clinton like ten months ago, so I’m obviously Team HRC on most things, I have to say that I thought this was a good interview for her. So many of the complaints against Hillary are so gendered, like the complaints about her voice, her smile, her “attitude,” whatever. She seemed personable, loose and funny here. But don’t mind me… I obsessively check out the FiveThirtyEight forecasts every day. That’s where I am in this election cycle: calming myself by focusing on math.

The completely unfounded insinuations about HRC’s health, playing into a trope of female physical and mental weakness, are truly disgusting and should really alert people to the kind of despicable person we’re dealing with on the other side.

    • adastraperaspera says:

      Well said!

    • Shambles says:

Right on! These claims of “ill health” are literally coming straight from the cover of this week’s National Inquirer… That says a hell of a lot about the people spewing this crap.

      • ol cranky says:

The National Enquirer which is owned by a very good friend of Donald Trump’s and is more than willing to use his publication to create stories for Trump to be able to utter things he knows to be false with the caveat #peoplearesaying

    • mia girl says:

THANK YOU! When King of the dog-whistle Donald Trump said Clinton lacked the “mental and physical stamina” to be President it was ALL about her being a woman. He was sending a signal to those with misogynistic views or even those slightly uncomfortable with the notion of a woman in charge.

Just look at this video – 1:38 mark:
      http://www.cc.com/video-clips/y6mxf5/the-daily-show-with-trevor-noah-putting-donald-trump-supporters-through-an-ideology-test

As for Giuliani he is a repugnant, shameless f8cking a**h&le who has clearly lost his own damn mind. I can’t believe is he spewing this crap.

      • Bridget says:

I am not shocked at all by Giuliani. He would sell his soul to be close to power.

      • sunny says:

Oh come on. Not everything is misogyny. Dont you think that’s a bit ridiculous? And this “dog whistle” nonsense sounds like old fashioned paranoid delusions combined with a persecution complex. Isn’t it exhausting to ignore real and concrete threats and dangers to whip up ones out of thin air? How do people go through their days with this mentality?

      • doofus says:

        “Not everything is misogyny.”

nope, not everything. but this sure is. combined with unsubstantiated nonsense.

“Isn’t it exhausting to ignore real and concrete threats and dangers to whip up ones out of thin air?”

yes, which is why it’s stupid for Drumpf/Stone/Giuliani and the rest of them to “whip up” this BS “concern”.

      • Tiffany :) says:

“Isn’t it exhausting to ignore real and concrete threats and dangers to whip up ones out of thin air?”

Yes, I’d love to hear how you rationalize Trump’s vows to violate the Geneva Conventions and instead refocus your energy on Clintons supposed health issues. Do tell!

      • mia girl says:

sunny – Obviously you are free to say and feel what you want but I stand by my statement 100%, Donald Trump is the KING OF THE DOG WHISTLE. All you have to do is watch the video I posted to see the misogyny (among other traits) of some of most die-hard his supporters who have responded to his whistling.

That said, at this point I’m not interested in responding to you comments anymore. Your statement “old fashioned paranoid delusions combined with a persecution complex” is SO textbook talking-points BS rebuttal from some far-alt right groups in the Republican/Conservative party that I just can’t.

    • Kate says:

Hillary does look out of shape, but not anymore than Trump. Trump’s girdle size has increased significantly through the course of this campaign. The “Hillary is unwell” talk has been going on for a long time and started with the blood clot. Trump is just now jumping on it and bringing it to light. I work with a guy well-connected with Republican establishment types and one of his sources has been telling him for well over a year that HRC has serious health problems. Whether she does or she doesn’t, I agree that Trump/Guiliani/Drudge drum beat is entirely misogynistic and unbecoming of a Presidential campaign.

I will add though that the one who truly looks like he is in danger is Bill Clinton. He does not look good at all and his speaking engagements have been spotty.

      • UESider says:

HRC sometimes has to wear a bulletproof vest under her coats, which make her look bigger than she is.

      • Lama Bean says:

And she’s in her late 60s! It’s much harder for women to control their weight once the hormone levels get wacky with menopause.

Bill looks thin. I’m sure some of that is him being vegan now. Some is just aging. Even if he doesn’t look well, he’s not running for President.

      • anon says:

Why is it misogynistic to question Hillary Clinton’s health? We’ve already had many Presidents, including JFK lie about their health, leading to pretty disastrous consequences for this country. If you are worried about misogyny, ask both the candidates to release their medical records.

      • Betsy says:

@anon – it wouldn’t be to ask it once; it’s a totally legitimate question. What is misogynist is that her personal physician has released a letter verifying that Clinton is in a fit state to govern, and still all these little niggling questions: oh, she seems weak, oh, she’s puffy, oh, she’s tired. She’s not, at least not any more than anyone would be given that kind of a grueling schedule. And she is out there with a grueling schedule; Trump is usually back in his own bed at night. No one talks about his weakness.

      • perplexed says:

Is she out of shape for a 60 something year old though? She’s not 25 or 35.

    • nicole says:

Totally agree, they made this big thing of when she shook her head (she was joking with a reporter somewhere) that she had some kind of head shaking that wasnt normal, they are disgraceful how low they will sink to try and bring her down, they will do anything at this point, good for Hillary to rise above it. They will be wetting themselves when she becomes president in 2017.

    • sunny says:

Um…just look at her. She doesn’t look well. If you can’t see that then I don’t know what to tell you. It has nothing to do with politics or hatred of women. It’s simply noticing something blatantly obvious. But then again so much of modern life is all about forcing yourself to not notice the obvious, so I’m not surprised that it’s being ignored here. It has to be a hard way to live though.

      • Tiffany :) says:

She looks fine. It’s not like she has the skin tone of Johnny Depp. Please describe something factual about how she looks that is causing you concern. If it is “blatantly obvious”, you shouldn’t have a problem with being specific and factual.

      • sunny says:

Her gray pallor, her tongue sore, her needing help up the steps, her forgetting words mid sentence are what spring immediately to mind. Oh and her fluctuating weight that appears to be water retention. Are those good enough? I look forward to the reply telling me that what I see isn’t actually what I see!

      • Betsy says:

The debunked tongue sore? The fact that she intermittently is asked to wear a bulletproof vest, which adds how many pounds, visually? The gray pallor is entirely in your imagination.

      • Mona says:

        @sunny…Troll alert!

      • Tiffany :) says:

Gray pallor? She looks rosy up top. You are trying to reinvent the color wheel.

The things you listed are just natural signs of aging, and are hardly threats to her overall health or her ability to do the job of President. You are reaching, dear troll.

(PS, it is quite comical that you’d say she forgets her words “mid sentence” when Trump hasn’t completed a sentence since 1982).

      • doofus says:

I’d say that sunny should probably adjust the color setting on her monitor. gray?….yeah no. and OH THE HORROR of water retention. call the morgue!

but Tiffany, Drumpf has the best words! (that he stole from Michelle Obama…)

      • ol cranky says:

@Sunny and your clinical expertise to make such proclamations about her health is?

        none-existent I’m sure

There’s nothing overtly outside of normal limits for a woman of her age, especially considering the incredible amount of stress that comes with a campaign such as this.

As for Trump – he can barely string a coherent sentence together without a teleprompter. He stammers and speaks like a kid in middle school

      • Janetdr says:

        She looks good to me!

      • lilacflowers says:

I see a nearly 70 year old woman wearing a bullet proof vest who has spent the last year criss-crossing the country and eating odd meals in weird places at strange times.

    • Molly says:

      So well said.

    • Veronica says:

There were rumblings about McCain and Cheney’s health when they were in political positions of power, so I wouldn’t call it purely misogynistic – albeit, there is plenty of that to go around and likely is contributing here. And perhaps more ridiculous by virtue of Trump being within the same age range as her. Either way, presidential candidates have the same right to medical privacy as anyone else. Opening up that avenue legally would put everybody else’s privacy rights on less stable ground.

      • Lady Mimosa says:

That was because that was ageism, she is too old to be running as well.

      • Rose of Dharon says:

I must respectfully disagree, and I suspect very soon things will change. It is one thing if a husband or wife in the prime of life has some sort of brain disease and destroys the family, or a business owner ruins her company. But a sick president or chancellor can take down an entire country, even continents.

We should demand yearly mental status testing along with the physical exam of our politicians, especially when family members, friends, or coworkers suspect that something is not quite right, and we should also start putting the word out that uncharacteristic alarming social and/or motor behavior warrants follow up.

  2. Tate says:

I also check fivethirtyeight to calm my nerves! 😀

  3. ashipper says:

I’m obsessively checking out 538 everyday too! This is such a scary time for our country. I know there isn’t a perfect politician anywhere but Trump is such a low life, lying piece of garbage, I can’t stand the thought of him winning.

  4. Esmom says:

The health conspiracy thing really left me scratching my head…it’s like Trump/the GOP/haters have a wheel of random topics they spin and focus on whatever they land on any given day. And hope that maybe, just maybe, this one will stick.

Of course now I’m seeing internet commenters remark gravely about how “serious” their concerns are about HRC’s health, as if last week they weren’t screaming about emails and Benghazi.

She’s no Obama in terms of charm and charisma but I’ve always found Hillary to be pretty loose and funny and smart…I’ve generally thought the criticism of her supposed attitude was, like many things, pretty much unfounded.

    • Tate says:

I am noticing the concern trolls popping up on the internet this week. They are all so full of concern and worried about Hillary’s health. God bless them. 🙄

    • doofus says:

“I’ve always found Hillary to be pretty loose and funny and smart…”

I was lucky enough to meet her in a setting that was “formal”, but part of it was her giving a speech/roast for someone close to me, and she IS funny and smart. you could see how personable she is as well as how intelligent and aware she is.

she’s not the perfect candidate, but she’d make a great POTUS.

      • Kitten says:

        That’s great to hear, Doofus.

“She’s no Obama in terms of charm and charisma but I’ve always found Hillary to be pretty loose and funny and smart”

Yeah I admit that I’ve found her to be a bit abrasive at times. I’ve often asked myself if I was being harder on her because she’s a woman–perhaps I’m blinded by some sort of inherent bias. Eh..I still find her a bit off-putting at times (as you said, she’s no Obama) but I’ve also never questioned her intelligence or her political capability.

      • Esmom says:

Kitten, I’m aware the abrasiveness, too, but I’ve always felt she had to resort to it at times in order to have a seat at the table. And I think it’s always been tempered by her humor and self-awareness. I just think the narratives of her being some shrill harpy and/or stiff humorless wanker are, just like many things about her, spin.

  5. Luca76 says:

Bill Clinton and the balloons brings me so much joy.

    • Jules says:

Me too. I watch it just to smile……….

    • lilacflowers says:

      Pure happiness.

    • a reader says:

      #BILLOONS = JOY

    • sunny says:

He’s a sexual predator and the sight of him makes my stomach heave. If he was anyone else he’d be crucified but he gets a pass. Why is that? I really want to know. His wife also defended a child rapist and I want to know why she gets a pass on that when people who use the wrong word or don’t support whatever the cause du jour is this week, get slammed. Why the double standards?

      • Betsy says:

Sunny, have you tried shutting off right wing news sources for a bit? This is your second post I’ve seen on this page and they’ve both been full of hot air and lies.

      • BubbaMagnet says:

Sunny = TROLL. Honey, your “concern” is noted.

      • Bread and Circuses says:

All of that is insane. All of it.

Start subtle, troll; no one believes you when you overplay your hand.

      • Veronica says:

Bill Clinton’s past is fair game for criticism, though he isn’t the one running for president. On the other hand, defending a child rapist is not a strike against her. Part of the responsibility of a lawyer is occasionally representing people whose behavior they may personally abhor. The right to representation, regardless of crime, is a pretty essential American civil right.

  6. Onerous says:

Nate Silver is my personal hero these days. I check 538 obsessively! I am absolutely confounded by people who are planning to vote for Trump. Completely stymied.

  7. Jules says:

538 is my rock until November…………

  8. DSA says:

I don’t want to sound like a nutty conspiracy theorist or anything, but when you open a fresh jar of pickles, doesn’t it make a ‘plop’ noise from when they do that air-tight thingy at the pickles factory? I didn’t hear a plop in this video. Methinks Hillary had her people have Jimmy Kimmel’s people tamper with the jar before this was filmed. Now you’re all going to vote for Trump and we’re all doomed.

    • Lucrezia says:

I’m sure Clinton is perfectly healthy (serious, no snark), but the pickle-jar HAD to have been staged. Questions would have been vetted beforehand, and there is no way she’d run the risk of not being able to open the darned thing. If she tried and failed, it wouldn’t be a valid cause for concern (I’m sure we’ve all struggled with jars) but it would play right into Trump’s [tiny] hands.

But I think, if they were going to stage it, they should’ve made it more obvious that they were doing so. Made it a complete mockery. It seems silly to say they were too serious about opening a pickle jar, but something about the tone of the skit seems off.

Then again, these Late Night talk shows often have tones or timing that strike me as slightly “off”. So it’s entirely possible that most people found it absolutely hilarious.

      • Jwoolman says:

Speaking as a fan of peanut butter and pickle sandwiches:

The pop/plop sound comes from opening a factory-sealed jar of pickles because the vacuum is broken. Not so likely after it’s been opened once. I have always needed to bang against the lid with the heavy end of a blunt knife or use a special tool to get those suckers open the first time, even when I was in my twenties.

But if it had been opened once and especially if Hillary herself had screwed the lid closed, even tightly, she would have no trouble getting it open. It’s only when some guy strong arms the lid much tighter than needed that we can’t get the darned thing open again without tools. That was a problem in the lab also- one of the guys was strong enough to just twirl things closed so I could never get it open again. Such fellows often strip screws for such reasons, they use far more strength than needed without even realizing it.

But it wasn’t really meant as a medical test… Just a funny bit on a tv show.

      • Lady Mimosa says:

She did rest for a whole week.

      • Rose of Sharon says:

I think it is unbecoming for presidential candidates to appear on TV comedy interview shows. I thought that 8 years ago. I also think it disgusting that you have to pay $35,000 for a chicken dinner.

    • tmc says:

interesting… the only other thing is that I dont think the questions that have been raised have really sufficiently been answered. she had a serious blood clot, a concussion, is on blood thinners forever, etc. Questioning does not have to do with her being a woman or an older woman. John McCain did go through this … a vetting of his health. I am not on either side but it is an observation that is notable.

      • Tiffany says:

McCain was coming off a second round of jaw cancer and that was really not a worry until he ticket VP was Sarah Palin. Then people were wondering if something were to happen to him why he thought she would be suitable to have the responsibility of POTUS.

      • Giddy says:

It comes down to who to believe; HIllary’s doctor who says she is in excellent health, or the Trumpettes who tell lies often enough that people begin to believe them. If the worst happens to our President, we need to look at their running mates. I know I pick Tim Kaine over Pence every time.

      • mia girl says:

I don’t know, I think what she released goes into detail about her concussion, clot and how they are being treated and resolved.

        https://m.hrc.onl/secretary/10-documents/01-health-financial-records/2015-07-28_Statement_of_Health_-_LBardack.pdf

She has much more detail in what she released than the letter Trump released -which honestly reads like John Miller (cough cough) wrote it.

        https://www.donaldjtrump.com/images/uploads/trump_health_record.pdf

      • B n A fan says:

You seems worried more about Clinton health than Donald’s health. Jmo, Donald looks like he is about to have a heart attack any day now, he is grossly overweight. Hillary has been gaining weight recently, I’m guessing, she has been eating on the road a lot. I’m sure after the election she will go back to a more healthy life style,

      • B n A fan says:

I have had a blood cloth about 30+ years. I’m not on blood thinner, in very good health and never had another one in all the years since.

      • Tiffany :) says:

tmc, all of the issues you raised were related to one health matter, which she has healed from. It isn’t sincere to act as if it is an on-going issue.

      • Kate says:

The concerns about his health started long before he even confirmed he was running. By the time he chose Palin it had morphed into ‘he’s 100% going to die of a heart attack a few years in and then we’ll be stuck with whoever he chooses’. The cancer was barely remembered then, people just saw an older guy who didn’t look unusually healthy for his age and figured the stress would get to him and he’d die. Similar thing with Bob Dole. Even JFK had some issues due to his back, but Nixon looked like death warmed over so he couldn’t really go there much.

Honestly, it is a concern with both candidates this year. Other Presidents their age when elected were barely functioning as President by the end of their terms and really weren’t fit for office. That was hidden to a large degree back then, but that’s not really possible now so there’s a very good chance whoever a elected this year can only run for one term or has to step down during a second. Or that they die. I don’t actually believe either has any major health issues, but nor do they give the appearance of especially healthy people for their age, and the Presidency takes a toll even in the most work-shy Presidents. By the end of two terms both would be in their late seventies.

    • Chaine says:

      Omg, now we have pickle-truthers

      • Esmom says:

Lol. Seriously, I’m sure there’s a corner of the internet already outraged about this travesty.

  9. MinnFinn says:

Both Hillary and The Donald look out of shape and over weight to me. Neither one of them look like they get any kind of regular exercise and I’m not talking about going to the gym. I mean they both look like they would struggle to just walk briskly around the block which is something they should be able to easily do at their age.

    • tracking says:

Well, she has hypothyroidism, which typically results in weight gain and joint pain. Don’t know what his excuse is.

      • MinnFinn says:

Hypothyroidism does not cause weight gain or joint pain once it is treated with the proper dose of thyroid medication.

    • Esmom says:

FWIW, Hillary was here in my town a couple months ago for a fundraiser and the streets were lined with people watching as she walked with her entourage and other officials for about a half a mile from city hall to the venue for the fundraiser. She walked just fine, was perfectly spry and not short of breath or anything as she came up the avenue. As I said above, the concern trolling is such a WTF to me.

      • Lama Bean says:

Thanks for this info. Had a friend who met her July 4th weekend at Hamilton. Same observations. Also said she was really personable and down-to-earth.

    • Veronica says:

Hillary has some weight on her, but she’s not anywhere near morbidly obese, particularly given that she has hypothyroidism (which is quite common in the elderly, especially women). We start losing some of our muscle mass as early as thirty, and a fair amount of it will become adipose later in life. (A little extra weight is actually much preferable to being underweight when you’re older, to be quite honest.) Speaking as somebody who works in a hospital, both candidates strike me as being in pretty decent shape for their age. You’d be amazed at how broken down some bodies are by sixty.

      • MinnFinn says:

You are confusing decent shape with average shape for their age. They are probably in average shape for their age but the average is a sadly low threshold. They are definitely not in decent shape for their age.

I just saw a group of relatives who are early to mid seventies and they are in good shape for their age. None of them go to a gym but they all are active retirees who like to hike, take vigorous walks and stay active. They kept up with me easily on a hike and I am about 25 years younger than them.

      • Veronica says:

*shrugs* However questionable you find their doctors, both of them have records that check out, and they have been on a physically and psychologically demanding campaign trail for the past year. I don’t think either is the pinnacle of healthy living, but neither do I think they considerably subpar for their age, especially considering the access they have to good medicine.

  10. Insomniac says:

This latest concern troll about Hillary’s health reminds me of that Doctor Who episode where the Doctor ruined the female PM’s career just by spreading around “Don’t you think she looks tired?” So transparent.

    • name du jour says:

Oh wow, great observation! It’s so similar that now I wonder if that’s where he got the idea.

    • oya says:

I’ve been saying this for days now. The “bring down Harriet Jones” strategy. I hope that like Harriet Jones HRC goes on to save the world.

    • sunny says:

Omg yes this real life thing is just like that TV show! I know that I also equate everything to some episode of a show or maybe even a movie. Is this real life?

  11. susiecue says:

    I love hearing her laugh!

  12. mellie says:

I just hate it that the Olympics are over and now we have to go back to this political crap…I’m not a fan of either one, but I will probably grudgingly cast my vote for Hillary. She seems the best of the worst. Sigh.

  13. Nameless says:

Honestly, she’s almost 70. She’s going to have some health issues. She had that blood clot in the blood vessel that drains from the brain, but she was treated early enough to prevent stroke. She has had two DVT which puts her at risk for another one, but she’s being treated a blood thinner. She has an underactive thyroid which is also being treated.

I don’t see anything here that would prevent her from serving office.

    • FingerBinger says:

Trump is 70 and he’s the last person that should be talking about age or health.

      • Nameless says:

Yep!! He likes fast food and has a lot of abdominal fat. Would love to know his blood pressure and LDL:HDL.

      • Lama Bean says:

His doctor claims (in his astonishingly simple letter written for 3rd graders) that his blood pressure was 110/65.

Side note: have you all seen the pictures of his doctor? He looks as wacky as they come. I suspect the doctor does not exist and this guy is being paid to pose as his “doctor”.

        Seriously, google Dr. Harold Bornstein.

      • Persephone says:

If I got a reading of 110/65 on a 70yr old I’d check it again.

  14. Oh it’s always something, surprised they haven’t tried to accuse her of being a witch – his oh so intelligent audience would hop on that pony and ride it to kingdom come.

She’s fine, she’s probably healthier than most, she’ll be a better president than Donald Trump and he knows everyday his chances get smaller and smaller.

    • sunny says:

Anyone with a different viewpoint or ideology is stupid if it doesn’t conform with yours, is that what you’re saying? Lovely. So glad you can confidently call millions of Americans stupid.

      • Lama Bean says:

Sunny, have you been on this site for long? If you are trolling, it won’t work here.

You are free to support Trump. But I suspect you are trying to pick a fight so you can call someone a “Libtard” and start talking hokey immigration numbers.

Please, if you are not serious, leave us be. These folks are well-read and informed.

      • Kitten says:

        @Sunny-Girl TAKE A BREATH. Damn.
Must have gotten cold under that shady-ass bridge. Still, might be time for you to go back to your lair and take a nap.

      • lilacflowers says:

“So glad you can confidently call millions of Americans stupid.”

Given that the population of the US is over 318 million people, I think it is safe to say that several million of them are probably stupid. It is just the law of averages.

  15. justme says:

I cannot stand her and her screeching voice. Hillary is just as bad as Trump. What? 10,000 more emails are coming out when she said she gave them all up already? Neither one of these people are good for America and it’s embarrassing that I have to choose between a lying crook and a man who seems to have lost his mind.

Hillary’s just as bad as Trump?
Really, exaggerate much? There’s plenty to criticize about Hillary’s votes and policies, but she is nowhere near as bad as Trump currently is, and what he’s appealing to. And what he could do if he becomes president.
This attempt to equalize them in this way is simplistic and disturbing.

      • justme says:

I’m not exaggerating, it’s my opinion and it’s not “simplistic” at all. You just don’t like my opinion. No need to be demeaning.

      • Esmom says:

I have to side with cr, it is simplistic. Look at Hillary’s experience and knowledge and look at Trump’s. Listen to the words that come out of their mouths. You can have an opinion about who you do or don’t like but trying to equalize them really is pretty ridiculous. Just using the term “lying crook” in reference to Hillary is insanely simplistic, not to mention false.

      • nicole says:

        cr, I agree.

      • Erinn says:

So, if it’s your opinion, why state it as fact. Why not say “to me she is as bad as Trump” or “In my opinion she’s as bad as Trump”.

When you’re stating it as if it’s a proven fact, you’re going to get called out. And hey – everyone has an opinion – and cr is just as welcome to share theirs as you are to share yours. The great thing about opinion is that when other opinions or actual facts are brought up, one can build on that first opinion with the new knowledge they’re gaining. Or they can double down and ignore facts and carry on about their day – but if that’s the choice, then you don’t get to stop other people for criticizing things that could be incorrect.

      • cr says:

@justme, but you are exaggerating. Calling this comparison simplistic isn’t demeaning, because it is very simplistic, and in order to do so means ignoring quite a bit about Trump, and how American politics actually operates. Focusing on Hillary’s emails as being somehow equal to a man who is basically running on a white nationalist/strongman platform is ignoring a whole lot.
It’s your opinion, one that you won’t back up with facts, but regurgitated propaganda. You’re free to do so, but I’m also free to call you on it. And this happens quite a bit here on CB, whether it’s politics or facts about gossip, you’re going to have to back your claims, especially when they’re stated as fact. That’s not demeaning.

    • Bridget says:

You mean Donald Trump who literally invited Russia to come in and hack more emails? Yeah, that’s not sketchy at all. And this is what I ask everyone who describes Hilary as a liar and crook: care to provide any evidence from non-biased sources? Serious question.

    • Tiffany :) says:

No, Hillary is not just as bad as Trump. Has she applauded internment camps? Has she said that she is going to create a database of Muslims? Has she threatened to break Geneva Conventions by torturing people? Has she threatened to kill family members of suspects? Has she said she’d be ok with using nukes on Europe (ffs)? Does her campaign do interviews with white supremacist podcasts and give them press credentials? Does she insult gold star families and say she has sacrificed just as much as they have?

NO, she hasn’t. She is NOT as bad as Trump.

      • anon says:

Hmm. Sadly, the last few adminstrations, including while Hillary was SOS have already done the above-created database of Muslims + other Americans, primarily white that are on the political fringers, tortured people, intentionally violated international law in Syria and Libya, given interviews with racists-except they have a different skin tone and questioned gold star families over the deaths of Seal teams in Afghanistan and Bengahzi..

Not taking sides, but one has documented proof of doing some really bad things. What’s the difference between them, again?

      • Betsy says:

Anon, you’re going to lump the Obama administration in with the Bush administration, but blame everything on Obama, and then claim not to take sides? That’s choice.

    • Maya says:

Funny that you name call the woman but not the man – mysogynist much?

    • sunny says:

I’ve tried three times to say I agree with you but for some reason my comment won’t post.

  16. Bridget says:

It is so unethical to try to diagnose someone’s health based on what we see on TV (looking at you, Dr Drew). I cannot even believe we’re having this discussion. And not trying to be rude, but considering the age of most presidential candidates, it’s not like health has ever been the first concern when it comes to being President.

    • Esmom says:

Good point, but when have ethics been considered in political smear campaigns?

In any case, even the youngest President isn’t immune to health issues. From what I’ve read JFK had a host of health problems that his people and the media went to great lengths to cover up.

    • Lama Bean says:

Not to mention Dr. Drew is a psychiatrist! He probably hasn’t actually touched the human body in years, save his wife’s. May as well have Dr. Oz do her physical and analyze her poop.

      • Lady Mimosa says:

@ Lama Bean ,Wow there are such smart people here, a psychiatrist is a doctor and a specialist.

      • Lama Bean says:

Lady mimosa, I’m quite aware that a psychiatrist is a doctor and is different from a psychologist. I still stand by my original statement. If a cardiologist is trying to diagnose my reproductive problems when they haven’t laid a finger on me, I’m gonna go with the safe route and say they are full of sh*t. My point is that a psychiatrist (who’s been on TV for 20 years and likely barely practices at that) can’t armchair diagnose from a television screen.

        Got it?

  17. Leesa says:

It makes me happy to know that celebitchy is obsessing over 538 too!

  18. Jayna says:

Hillary has been going at a pace for a year I couldn’t keep up with.

They should be looking into Trump’s mental health issues. LOL

    • sunny says:

Are we really ready to go down the USSR road of saying that those who hold different views are mentally ill?

      • mia girl says:

sunny – I think you might want to heed your own words up-thread
“It’s simply noticing something blatantly obvious. But then again so much of modern life is all about forcing yourself to not notice the obvious, so I’m not surprised that it’s being ignored here. It has to be a hard way to live though.”

Jayna is simply eluding to Trump’s erratic and personal/petty vendetta tweets, the pathological lies, seeing things that never happened, unusual shifts in mood…

If you can’t see it sunny, “I don’t know what to tell you.”

      • sunny says:

Please give me concrete examples of his mental illness or what you believe them to be. Remember that “not thinking the way I do” isn’t mental illness!

Also we all know the definition of “mentally ill” is quite fluid, constantly subject to revision, and used as a weapon to attempt to silence or shame others.

It’s also funny that Ms Clinton shares those traits (almost all politicians do) but it’s only a problem with Trump. He didn’t laugh about killing people or laugh while talking about defending a child rapist. She did. Is that the action of a mentally stable individual?

      • Betsy says:

If you can follow his train of thought, you may share his affliction. His bombast. His inserting himself in small scandals. His pettiness. Seriously, have you not read the list of Narcissistic Personality Disorder symptoms?

      • doofus says:

“He didn’t laugh about killing people or laugh while talking about defending a child rapist.”

        nor did she.

you just outed yourself right there as either 1) willfully misinformed or 2) deliberately lying.

you’ve been posting things that are simply not true (and have been debunked, ad nauseum) to support your dislike of her. feel free to dislike her, but base it on fact, not rumors or lies put out there by her opposition.

      • Tara says:

So interesting that the paid RNC trolls are actually on this site. I guess it’s not a surprise – google alerts and all. Sonny I’ve been dealing with paid RNC trolls since 2001. You’re not that good…second shift?

  19. Brandy Armstrong says:

I’m forever grateful to celebitchy (& it’s amazing commentators) for letting me know about 538. Like someone above said, it was as calming as Xanax this morning and will be my go-to from now until Nov 8 (76 days, *GULP*)!

  20. nicegirl says:

I wear my t-shirt with pride, display my HILLARY FOR PRESIDENT sign on my lawn, and have her sticker on my rolling tray – and do not care what anyone else thinks about it at all.

I want Hillary to win. No apologies from me here, I am supporting her bid for President with all I have – this is a very important contest, and I feel personally responsible to myself, my children, my country, my planet – to help make a choice for good.

Hate is not good. Like – DUH. The candidate that espouses hate is not the candidate for America – the candidate we need is tolerant and collaborative- those are founding principles of our country.

I took a trip last weekend with my sons to Hood River, OR to escape the heat. I wore my 2008 Hillary for President shirt. My 9 year old son said, before we headed to the beach, “You might get judged for that, Mom” – he knows about the Trump wall and is not a fan of that attitude whatsoever – all he cares about is that folks do not vote for Trump. We live in a very urban area, and his school has a very diverse population. He is scared at the idea that his friends’ families will face even worse discrimination under a Trump administration – and he is 9. We were so pleasantly surprised to have folks shout out their support for an HRC presidency to us during our day – people yelled, “I like your shirt!!” from far away – folks came up to talk to us and complimented my cool spray dye technique and asked where they could get their own HRC shirts- checkout folks at Walmart told us stories about people wearing other candidate apparel and being rude to them about speaking Spanish to customers, or demeaning them for repeating questions. People continually expressed happiness for seeing someone support Hillary, and oft mentioned how they felt that was not a popular opinion, some were even scared to champion her because of expected harassment -Now, I suggest – maybe the tide is changing in her favor? I sure hope so!

At the end of the day, my son said it was a GOOD THING that I wore the shirt. What a cutie.

    • Tiffany :) says:

What a lovely post! Thank you for sharing.

    • Jayna says:

I love your post. I am a huge Hillary supporter and am proud of it. You sound like a great mother.

    • Tara says:

I love this post, thank you so much for sharing! I have such a belief that so many of we women who strongly and yes, passionately! support Hillary are silenced. We’ve been bullied and intimidated into silence first by the berniebros and now by the trumpsters. But boy do we vote! Just ask Bernie!

I have a Hillary shirt and I’m going to wear it out more, thanks. I’m also going to order that hat I really wanted:

      “Keep America Great
      Vote Hillary”

      and wear that too!

    • nicole says:

nicegirl, great story, I hope there is alot more like you and your son.

  21. CK says:

Honestly, I can’t wait for the Trumpettes to go away. Also, don’t bother responding to me with that “They’re both equally as bad nonsense.” (or at all, Sunny) Hillary Clinton, for all her faults (that we don’t hold male politicians too), was nominated by a majority of democratic primary voters and didn’t have to act like and be a complete racist to win. She actually has experience and policy positions. Donald J. Trump has nothing, but a history of conning contractors, is a verified bigot, and only has a slogan. This whole health thing is rich coming from Donald J. Trump whose fabricated medical note said that he was “positive” for all things. #I’mwithher deal with it.

    • Maya says:

Right on – the people who claim Trump and Hillary are the same are just plain morons.

I live in UK and lots of us are calling Trump and his supporters idiots and a lot worse which I can’t write here.

Trump supporters only show their own idiocy by believing every single lie and conspiracy theory he says.

  22. Tania says:

Good luck to HRC and good luck to my neighbors to the south! For all our sakes I hope HRC comes out on top!

  23. Jayna says:

I just watched Cher’s speech at a fundraiser for Hillary In Providence. She was fantastic. Love her. Her comments about Trump were priceless.

  24. Rose of Sharon says:

I will try to refrain for all the reasons why Ms. Clinton should never be president (“We came. We saw. He died.”

But I will say that wanna-be presidents and sitting chancellors, any one really over 45 should be tested for brain dysfunction along with their yearly physical.

So many people in the prime of life are fired for poor performance, misbehavior, sexual harrassment, swearing and even stealing, only to be revealed a few years later that they were showing the early symptoms of frontal lobe dementia, but denied disability because the full-blown symptoms appeared later.

We mandate so many seminars under the sun, but not this very uncomfortable one.

    • Mildred Fierce says:

Donald Trump is around the same age as Hillary AND crazy as a loon, so maybe you all should check out some of these brain dysfunction tests for him too.

    • Betsy says:

If we’re talking symptoms of dementia, Donald should be checked out first.

And if your first statement references Benghazi, and why wouldn’t it?, it’s the crazy invented scandal du jour, give it a rest. Nine congressional hearings couldn’t get you guys the results you wanted.

      Two questions for you:
      1. Can you name any of the dozens of embassy deaths that occurred under Bush?
      2. Can you explain why Republicans have defunded embassy security?

    • Veronica says:

I’m fine with psychological screenings for government officials, but that can be a slippery road in terms of what we define as acceptable for public office. What atypical neuroses bar you from office? Depression? Anxiety? ADHD? What if it’s well controlled with medicine? Would something temporary like post-partum fall under high risk even if it’s years in the past? Not a completely bad idea, but it should be cautiously executed.

    • lilacflowers says:

You do realize that would be a flagrant violation of both the ADA and the ADEA, right?

  25. Achoo says:

It’s not the physical health you should be worried about but the mental health…….Trump is Hypomanic, he has every single marker for the condition except bighting his finger nails.
