Last week, I read a story about how Lindsay Lohan was “opening a nightclub.” My first thought was “that poor nightclub.” As it turns out, the story was for real: Lindsay has a (shady) new Greek boyfriend and they’re business partners (or something) on a new venture: LOHAN Nightclub. The nightclub is in Athens, Greece, and these are some photos from this weekend’s opening. Lindsay looked… well, not quite sober, but she looked relatively “together.” If we’re using Lohan Standards. Her makeup is horrible.
Would you like to know more about the club? According to TMZ, she came up with the idea herself, and her business/romantic partner is Dennis Papageorgiou. Dennis is one of the guys funding Lindsay’s lifestyle whenever she goes to Greece, and she’s spent a lot of time in Greece following her breakup with Egor over the summer. Lindsay was apparently very involved with how the club has been set up, and it not only includes a VIP area, but a VVIP area, which is probably just for Lindsay. In exchange for a generous backend deal, Lindsay will make 2 to 3 appearances a month at Club LOHAN.
TMZ also reports that once Club LOHAN Athens is a success, she wants to expand to other cities like “Istanbul, Hong Kong, London and NYC.” She and Papageorgiou also want to open a chain of spas. I’m honestly not trying to offend Greek folks, but a nightclub that “works” in Athens might not necessarily work in London or Hong Kong, you know? Club LOHAN is not about exclusivity, which is what many successful clubs need to attract A-list clientele. A-list clientele won’t want to hang out at a Club LOHAN.
There’s also another story about how Lindsay worked on this and how she’s so “serious” about it being successful that she “pulled an all-nighter” at the opening night – she arrived at 10 pm and stayed until 5 am. So… she pulled a 7-hour shift at a nightclub? So difficult. Here’s my question: how quickly will Lindsay lose interest in this and simply stop showing up? And how quickly will Mr. Papageorgiou lose a substantial amount of money? Lindsay Lohan is the very definitely of throwing away good money after bad.
PS… I was going to say something about how you can tell Lindsay is taking it seriously because she’s not blowing cracked-out kissy-faces, but then I saw the cracked-out kissy-face photos.

Damn though that girl has some hustle. If you look at her Instagram you will see she is basically always on vacation somewhere beautiful, wearing lovely clothing and eating fancy food. What a life!

See that still confuses me. There are many beautiful women in this world who are willing to trade their company for money or other perks. But LiLo looks rough as he!! and is a difficult person. How does she convince men to fund her in that way? Surely they can trade up?
well, for some men, there is the added “thrill” of banging a “hollywood star”, esp one that was a TEEN star…regardless of how she looks now. also, consider her constant bruises…there is talk that her “work” involves the so-called “rough trade” aspect.

I’m not sure if I really want to know how she supports (or who supports) that life style. I would rather live on the streets than do what she is probably doing.

@Kaiser Actually we have pretty awesome clubs is Athens, that is why it is so puzzling that someone actually gave her the funds to open a club. I give her a month tops before it closes down, unless she has any connections with the Russian mafia that we don’t know, then it’s about laundering money and it makes perfect sense!
Agree, touristy clubs are in the islands, Athens is more taverns high end, the big singers have their own clubs opened all week long, I’m Greek and its the music that gets you. You cannot translate the words, its a very deep language, meaning of one work is enough to describe a pain so heartbreaking. And the “zembekiki” is danced through your soul. I’m imagining its an English music club, European clubs are all different and one won’t work anywhere but there. Hey, at the very least,its helping the economy.

Well if you ask me the club scene in general died after the 90s and the end of the rave parties. But people still go to clubs. Greece always had great night life and younger people will always be out and about. We still have great clubs but not as many as we had a decade ago, but it is more a matter of trends than economic dicline, people prefer bars now. It is a weird situation there and it has more to do with our mentality, at least in urban areas. I live in a large city with a big population of younger people due to universities etc. So younger people go out at cafes and bars and basically you see people going out period. Greeks can’t stay in. Our climate helps in that. They just don’t spend as much as they used to. The problems are elsewhere and they are very complicated.

Correct Anthi. I’ve been to Athens many times and some great nightclubs is an understatement. I think if they do well in Athens they will do well in some other European comsopolitan cities. But she’ll have to have top game and stay there to survive. Clubs have a short lifespan and with limited real estate to play with in Athens, competition is fierce.

Athens actually has an amazing night life and I think 2-3 bars feature in tne top 20 list worldwide (clumsies, babaurum etc), Athenians are very sophisticated though and I don’t believe this place will have any success at all.
