Taylor Swift & Zayn Malik collaborated on a song for ‘Fifty Shades Darker’

fifty1

A few days ago, the second full-length trailer for Fifty Shades Darker was released. The first trailer came out in September, to widespread interest, surprisingly enough. Like, it was the most-watched trailer ever for a few months. I thought the first trailer was not great, but then again, I didn’t care for the first film. The first film – Fifty Shade of Grey – ended up making more than $550 million, and so of course the two sequels went into production right away (they filmed them back-to-back earlier this year). In case you’re interested, here’s trailer #2.

Yeah… this is our best look at Kim Basinger’s character, who (spoiler?) was Christian’s first relationship. She feels like she owns Christian to a certain extent, and Ana comes bumbling along and sort of makes it worse.

While FSOG was absolutely a terrible movie at every level, it did have a good soundtrack, and it ended up getting nominated for ONE Oscar, for Best Song. That was for The Weeknd’s “Earned It.” While The Weeknd didn’t win, it was a moment of prestige for the film and for Abel. So of course there was a lot of interest in which artists would come on board for Fifty Shades Darker’s soundtrack. And guess who they got? Taylor Swift. And Zayn Malik. Together. The song is called “I Don’t Want to Live Forever.” Which is not something you ever want to say to a billionaire sadist, because he’ll be like, “Oh, cool, then I have some ideas.” Here’s the teaser for the song:

I’m obviously not into this, although I think I would be into it if it was just Zayn. Like, Zayn’s “Pillowtalk” is one of the sexiest songs of the past few years. I know he can do sex-songs well. But adding Tay-Tay into the mix… ugh. But I’m sure the fandoms are happy.

This film is going to suck SO HARD to make look the 1st one Oscar worth.
Who is even bothered to go watch it?

I don’t know a living soul interested in it.

    • mia girl says:

      Meh, I’ll see it.
Not at the theater but definitely afterwards.
I became a fan of Dornans after watching The Fall, so at this point I’ll watch him in pretty much anything. Even something that seems to suck away his acting talent.

    • Katherine says:

I plan to watch it when it comes out

      • Ashley says:

My girlfriends and I went last year to see in with a few bottles of wine and had an awesome time. We plan to do the same thing this year. It’s a fun movie, not to be taken seriously.

  2. Louise177 says:

Agree Zayn should have done it alone. Taylor’s voice ruins the song. I doubt FSD will do as well. A lot of people saw 50 Shades because it was the first movie and people had to make up their own minds. I don’t know anyone who liked it.

    • ElleBee says:

Swift is so sexless to me, she probably does it politely. Zayn’s sex appeal seems a little more natural . I guess it doesn’t matter though since this movie is going to suck harder than a new born on a nipple.

    • Kate says:

It’s going to be like the books. So many of the people who went out and bought 50 Shades don’t even realise there’s more than one book. The first book was a phenomenon, the second book was a hit and the third book did ok.

  3. Suzie says:

I don’t love it but it’s quite catchy. It’s a grower. I didn’t expect them to collab even if she’s a good friend of Gigi.

  4. Barrett says:

Dakota looks like Her dad Don Johnson w a wig and bad bangs. Don Johnson was sexy though! she just looks like she is given a chance bc she daughter of Hollywood stars. Would anyone give her an audition otherwise?

Speaking of bangs trauma that cover shot of T Swift. Darn.

    • Ellie says:

God they’re so bad right now. Like she got wine-drunk and decided to hack them off herself. I may or may not know that from experience.

    • Elisa the I. says:

I saw FSOG and Dakota was surprisingly good in it. Dornan’s acting was quite wooden and he looked sooooo uncomfortable. Overall I found the movie lame but I went with my girls and we had loads of fun (and alcohol). So I guess we will see part 2 as well. 🙂

  5. Sam says:

Sure Zayn by himself would have been fine. But Taylor is currently the cash cow for the industry so of course they would include her. It’s all about the money and attention.

Also I will never understand how such a god awful movie made so much money. The first one sucked so bad.

  6. Nicole says:

Lol movie looks terrible and the song is meh. But zayn fans are beside themselves on twitter so that’s fun to watch.
I love how fans are all “the trailer is so sexy” and I’m so confused because that trailer Is not appealing at all

  7. Jess says:

I Am not sure he should’ve done it alone, because I think the worst part of the song is his falsetto? It sounds very annoying

  8. Lulu says:

I’m not a Taylor or a zayn fan , but I actually like this song, enough to buy it on iTunes too where it’s #1…. I didn’t see the first film , but I did like the soundtrack and brought that !

  9. Ivy says:

So miss feminism wrote a song for a movie based on fanfic (yes, i’ll say it’s a Twilight fanfic forever) that was heavily criticized about the way it romanticizes abusive relationships. And Zayn who left a pop band to do #realmusic decided to do a collab with the most basic white girl in the industry. But well, it’s all about the money.
Anyway, Zayn has a great voice and he should be the only one singing it. It doesn’t really fit Taylor’s voice in my opinion.

    • Sarah says:

Yes – didn’t Zayn (who never misses a chance to drag 1D) say he can’t wait to do the music he really wants to do? After his first album sounded rather derivative of other R&B artists? And now he is singing a collab with Taylor Swift, pop princes? Ok sure.

  10. Ramona says:

I’m happy for Zayn. It wouldnt be a bad thing to have a half Pakistani muslim be the break out star of an otherwise lily white boyband. We might even see more diversity in these manufactured pop groups.

  11. Alleycat says:

Zayn had to include Taylor because his songs after ‘pillowtalk’ didn’t sell well. Taylor included Zayn because she’s obviously trying for a sexier vibe but can’t do it on her own because everything she does comes off incredibly asexual. She’s a pretty girl, but I’ve never seen anyone with less sex appeal. This song isn’t great, but I’m sure it will do well. I’m actually disappointed in Zayn. I thought he left 1D because he didn’t want to do stuff like this?

    • Nicole says:

Yep you nailed it. People act like zayn has completely blown up in music when in reality he hasn’t. He’s more known for his dating life currently. Harry is booking more gigs than Zayn at this point

    • Alyce says:

I think it is more of Taylor including Zayn than the other way. I’m pretty sure that she and Jack Antonoff wrote it.

    • MellyMel says:

To be fair to Zayn his other singles didn’t do so hot because he did no type of promo. His album is really good and he’s got a really good voice, but he or him team didn’t sell it like they should.

    • Suzie says:

It’s just a pop song. Nothing serious.

  12. Micki says:

When even hot shorts and croped tops combined fail to make you sexy—I don’t think it’s Taylor’s forte to be seductive.

  13. Becky says:

    Poor Zayn

  14. grabbyhands says:

Behold, the rare picture of Taylor Swift with her mouth actually closed. In her defense, I guess it is hard to get around her gigantic veneers.

  15. perplexed says:

Taylor’s voice sounds so bad here?

Is the main character of this movie caught in a love triangle? I never saw the movie or read the book.

  16. Crowdhood says:

Jamie is not hot in this movie to me. But in The Fall- smoke show.

So basically I’m attracted to serial killers.

    • Ms. Turtle says:

I could have written your comment. In The Fall, how does he manage to be SO hot and creepy at the same time? But in FSOG, nothing. I think his magic is in his beard.

  17. QQ says:

:27 seconds… I love Zayn and I couldn’t even last the whole ” song Teaser” which is really more like adults with Hiccups

  18. MellyMel says:

I think if this would have just been a Zayn solo or him collaborating with Tinashe or Kehlani or somebody along those lines it would be really hot. Taylor is the opposite of sexy.

  19. Lisa says:

I really like it and just bought it on iTunes.

I think it’s really catchy and liked it on first listen. It’s already playing in my head constantly lol.

  20. Digital Unicorn (aka Betti) says:

The song isn’t bad, not my kind of thing but it would have been better if it were just him singing. Taylor sounds constipated when she tries to sing sexily.

  21. Lynnie says:

Do they have to ruin Valentine’s Day again?? 🙄😪

Taylor is not going to age well.

The song will be everywhere in a few days, so you already know it’s going to be mad annoying lol. Ugh, 2016 why

    • Fiorella says:

Why is she not going to age well ? Is she a smoker? She seems like someone who would use sunblock to me.

      • Lynnie says:

I don’t think she’s a smoker, but there’s just something about her face that I see pop up in photos every now and then that doesn’t seem very youthful. It was more apparent in the English Rose Tayto pap pics. I think it’s what she’s doing to her eyes.

    • cygne1 says:

Shes ageing brilliantly, shes 27 and looks years younger, and she has very good wrinkle free skin… ha ha

      • Dan Lopez says:

Nope. The moms don’t lie. When a women turns 27 don’t look at her. Look at pictures of her mom circa age 35. That’s the face you’ll be looking @ in 8 years. Almost never fails.

    • Jess says:

I really don’t see the point in having “aging” discussions over a 20 something year old’s looks. Unless they are doing hardcore drugs or they’re known for being a party hound, it just sounds really sexist and mean-spirited. Would you honestly like it if someone looked at a photo of you and just said out of the blue “oh she’s definitely not going to age well” like wtf does that even mean?

Criticize her attitude, music, hairstyle, fashion choices, etc. all you want (and lord knows there’s a lot to criticize about her) but the moment you veer into “aging” comments, it sounds like you’re perpetuating sexist standards. Please don’t be that person.

  22. Fiorella says:

I only watched the first one because someone else wanted to . It was ok. I mean it wasn’t boring and I didn’t fall asleep. There was some scenery and decor eye candy. I would probably watch the second (at home again) mainly because there’s some mystery in the trailer.
