Though Tyra Banks loves to hear herself talk about empowering women, togetherness, unity, and a bunch of other over-used, trite phrases, she seems to have a really hard time putting her money where her mouth is. Literally. Last week she fired “America’s Next Top Model” judge Paulina Porikova, who had been a fan favorite. Actually, it seems like nearly all of the judges are “fan favorites” compared to Tyra.
Janice Dickinson says Tyra has a habit of promising judges tons of money, but then when it comes time to pay up she fires them instead.
Add ex-America’s Next Top Model judge Janice Dickinson to this week’s rant over Paulina Porizkova’s exit.
Dickinson, surprisingly booted from the show several years ago, says she is none too surprised about Porizkova being escorted away from the very seat she occupied.
“That’s how Tyra rolls,” Dickinson shared with MTV news at the American Idol finale Wednesday.
“Tyra rolls like that, she likes to fire people just about when she’s promising them large amounts of money, they get the axe, like I did…. then she takes the money and runs.”

Tyra has a hard time keeping women judges on the show. But not judges in general – the guys have been there for ages. Tyra’s really only got a problem dealing with other women, which makes it clear just what garbage all of her “empowerment” crap really is.
While we all love Tyra Banks for her efforts in helping to bridge the gap for women of color, plus size models and recently transgendered models, the daytime and reality diva has raised eyebrows with what I like to call Janice’s rotating chair.
It is no secret that Janice was the “Simon” (if you will, American Idol) of “America’s Next Top Model”. She told the models exactly what she thought, no holds barred, unapologetic and often times sliced deep into their self esteem. But we loved Janice for that. She was real and let’s just be honest… it sold.
It seems that every couple seasons the “Janice Chair” swings around and dumps its latest occupant. First it was Twiggy, now it’s Paulina Porizkova.
Yes, there might have been budget cuts (as noted in Tyra and Kevin Mok’s statement earlier this week) but “noted photographer” Nigel Barker retains a spot every season as does Ms. Jay, Mr. Jay and occasionally Nole Marin. Therefore, it’s easy to think that there’s something to Janice’s chair….the chair that is more often than not reserved for the former supermodel chick with attitude.

I find Tyra so insufferable as a person – and on her talk show – that I can’t even watch “America’s Next Top Model.” Which is too bad, as it’s one of the few reality shows I find semi-interesting. And she doesn’t even bug me that much on ANTM, but just knowing what a horrible person she actually is makes it impossible to enjoy it. Even though she does a slightly better job of hiding it on this particular show than on her talk show. Tyra clearly has a problem sharing the attention with other women. She knows how to talk a good game and say what you want to hear: whether it’s her female audience or her female judges. But when it comes to actually following through, Tyra takes the money and tells female empowerment to shove it.

I watch antm for entertainment but the show is a joke. its not about becoming a top model, its about becoming another reality star. tyra is really annoying though. i’ve seen clips from her talk show and it is embarrassingly bad, even worse than antm. every time i hear her say smile with your eyes i want to bash my tv. i can’t stop watching tho its a train wreck.

Tyra is so fake. She’s the kind of woman who only likes to be around women who worship her and look up to her. She doesn’t seem to like women at her own ’success’ level. She’s super fake and so self-obsessed.

Its funny, I never thought anything in particular about Tyra until the time she celebrated herself on her Black History Month Show. I never watched the show regularly before that because I was at work, but after that I made a point to never watch her show even in reruns in the evenings. She has to be one the most pompus self-absorbed celebrities out there and that’s saying a lot.

I used to watch her show, and she seemed very fake and manipulative, I have not watched the last three seasons of ANTM only because of her.
I watch the other fashion reality shows instead. -
I don’t care if she’s purple with pink polka dots. Tyra Banks is a schizo narcissist. She’s worse than Janice! She’s self centered, unpredictable, moody, arrogant and overrated.
Paulina was a hot model before Tyra Banks became a name. She should respect models who carved out stellar careers before her. Instead, she has a chip on her shoulder.
I can’t stomach Tyra or her show. The idea of her having a talk show is a sick joke. -
I agree about her “empowerment” scheme. If she was so empowered, why didn’t she embrace her body when the tabs called her fat, instead of wearing a bathing suit on tv to PROVE she wasn’t?? Completely missed the point, there Tyra.

I agree w/spooge. Allison really should have won. Tyra said that the girl that beat her had wind in her face. She looked like she was in a freaking wind tunnel. I like ANTM because I like to see the photos. I do not even know why they have a panel of judges. Tyra always ignores them and just gets rid of who she wants to get rid of. If someone has a different opinion, she tells them why they are wrong or just says something to the contrary. Her opinion is the only one that matters on the show. Although, Mr. Barker can convince her of something if he gives her enough cute looks and smiles. He could probably get someone eliminated or not eliminated by bribing Tyra with photos of herself. The one thing about the show I don’t understand is why the models act the way they do in the house. Do they not realize that the stuff they do at the house can get them eliminated. You know Tyra is looking at a file that says this one said a racist comment in front of the cameras at the house or this one got drunk to try to deal with pressure. Even on the “NO SMOKING” season, girls were dumb enough to smoke. Duh!

I love ANTM but can not stand Tyra Banks! She is utterly ridiculous. I will give her credit for her great career, but the way she hosts ANTM is horrible. I would never even consider watching her daytime show….why subject yourself!?! As for Paulina, she wasn’t my favourite either…. what she said to Celia this season about being old and desperate, was unbelievable. I want Twiggy back!!!!
