Melania Trump’s official FLOTUS portrait is Peak ’80s Glamour Shot

Official Portrait of First Lady

A post shared by First Lady Melania Trump (@flotus) on

I don’t think we can even call Melania Trump a “part-time” First Lady. She’s only spent a handful of days in Washington since the inauguration, and she seems more keen on weekends at Mar-a-Lago more than anything else. But since she’s married to Emperor Baby Fists, she’s considered the FLOTUS, and as such, she was able to do an “official portrait.” This photo was taken by Glamour Shots in the 1980s, and the background is the the White House residence, the top floor I believe. Melania wants you to see her 15-carat wedding ring. And I guess she wants us to know that she’ll wear black whenever and wherever she wants.

Obviously, people clowned on Melania’s portrait… because look at this mess. It’s airbrushed into oblivion. It looks incredibly dated. The photographer smeared Vaseline on the lens. And Melania is probably outing herself as “the nanny” to the Muppet Babies.

    Please.

    • SilverUnicorn says:

There’s also a lot of airbrushing there. It does not even seem the picture was taken in the White House but in a green room. Ridiculous, they have CGIed her into the WH.

      • S says:

She’s there so rarely, they would almost have digitally insert her. I’m sure it would be her preference if she could do her entire marriage via special effect.

    • SNAP says:

LOL…Right? More like a Napoleon Dynamite “glam shot”…and i LOVE that movie BTW…so basic yet entertaining. My preteens love it. Anytime we see someone’s crappy glam pic we automaticaly think of this movie, look at each other and chuckle :-b

    • Missmarirose says:

She looks like a stewardess at a funeral.

      • Lahdidahbaby says:

“Stewardess at a funeral” — too funny because it’s too true.

      • sarah says:

I take two positions about the official Melania portrait. One, it is very glamorous and sexy, showing off the big ring, striking a sassy pose. Which would be fine – if she were selling her stuff on the Shopping Channel or QVC or whatever it is called.

Two. But she’s not on the shopping channel or shopping at the fancy stores in Manhattan to kill time during the day until Baron gets home from school. She is the FLOTUS. Look at Nancy Reagan’s portrait. Or Michelle Obama’s portrait for something more modern. I loved Michelle, not so much with Nancy but still, those pictures show how it is done. Look for ELEGANCE, kindness, a woman you can admire and respect..

Melanie’s official portrait, like everything else in her marriage is all about the Donald. Look how sexy my wife is (I am a real stud!), look at that rock on her hand (I am soooooo rich!). Look at me, look at me! You want to be like me, don’t you?! says Trump. Whatever, Donnie.

  2. Tate says:

Tacky as all hell but we are talking about a woman that lives in a gold plated penthouse, soooo……

    • Megan says:

And married the tackiest man on earth. Like finds like.

    • naomipaige says:

LOL! My professor always says, “Leave Melania alone. She certainly worked hard to got what/where she is. I say, “When you’re a mail order bride, or escort, can you really consider this work? The b**ch got paid to do iit!!!

    • littlemissnaughty says:

I mean considering that the portrait seems almost conservative.

Goddamn Michelle Obama looks good in hers though.

      • Nancy says:

She does. As with her husband, this woman is an embarrassment to women like Michelle, Hillary, Nancy, Jackie. The First Shady Lady Melania. ivanka has the portrait in her secret room with darts along side of it. Mirror mirror on the wall, I will be the next portrait, once and for all.

      • Pandy says:

Michelle gives me arm goals. Melania gives me filter and filler goals.

  3. Megan says:

I still do not understand the part in her hair. Is she wearing a wig backwards?

  4. MostlyMegan says:

So tacky, the vaseline lens, french manicure and boulder diamond, along with the keyhole cleavage is just too, too much. She looks like Joyce Wildenstein: The Early Years.

    • naomipaige says:

      LMFAO!!!!

    • Alix says:

Yes! Her eyes are practically hoisted to the back of her head!!

    • detritus says:

The falsies with the French tips are slaying me.

    • mia girl says:

I love how she has her arms crossed like to telegraph “I’m serious and mean business”

      • swak says:

To me that is the weirdest thing about this pose. And while she may think she is looking all serious and means business, it truly (to me) doesn’t come across that way.

      • Vesta says:

But what is her business? Softcore dominatrix?

      • eggyweggs says:

I’m late to the game, but that is a very defensive pose. It’s a way of closing oneself off. I have to oversee a lot of photoshoots and although arms crossed in front is a a post I suggest for portraits, I don’t think it’s great (I’m not creating high art, though, so…). But look at our last FLOTUS’ portrait. Her body language is open. She is welcoming. Gosh, I miss her.

      • Christin says:

It also helps push up the two body parts ole orange cares about the most.

      • Meta says:

It’s a ‘natural’ way to show off her diamond.

    • Pandy says:

OK, you and Maleficent are the best today. Along with the tweet in the story from Nick Amadeus: Melania’s White House portrait is beautiful and will make an excellent conversation piece if she ever happens to visit the White House. LOVE THIS!!!! Ha – Vesta just seeing your response – ha ha ha.

  5. boredblond says:

Looks like an audition for another Mrs Carrington on Dynasty, hehe

    • Tate says:

      😂😂😂

    • LadyMTL says:

ROFL! I was thinking she could be on the cover of a Danielle Steele-style novel. She’s even got the shoulderpads going. But you nailed it, definitely Dynasty!

      • RussianBlueCat says:

Her crossed arms and gaze like she is gearing up for a brawl in the lily pond or carriage house. Cue the dramatic music

    • Christin says:

Dynasty with a blowout was my first thought as well.

There was a cast photo of Joan, Linda, etc., from the 1980s with shoulder pads, gaudy jewelry and power poses that she could be added to very easily.

  6. omg says:

    Its appropriately horrible.

  7. JustBitchy says:

I feel like the only asset she would walk away with in a divorce is that gigantic ring so she wants to show it off.

Someone on Twitter said she looks part feline. No really since she was born looking like this

    http://www.express.co.uk/life-style/life/756142/Melania-Trump-plastic-surgery

    • Pumpkin Pie says:

Imo all those surgeries made her eyes look weird and scary.

    • Alix says:

So tragic to do that to her face!

    • happyXamp says:

She was really pretty before the surgeries. Now she looks like she has a permanent stick up her ass.

    • Jag says:

Wow she was so pretty! Her nose was perfect, and her eyes were beautiful. I think that she had a too-tight mid-face facelift or something.

    • Beth says:

Those squinting, glaring eyes makes her always looks like a pissed off pussy cat.

    • Christin says:

She makes a three-second appearance in the first Zoolander (as orange’s silent, smiling date) and she looks different. Her eyes are more open, and her face has a natural smile.

Maybe she was overly inspired by Derek’s Magnum pose and never let her face relax again.

    • Kitten says:

      Cats don’t deserve this comparison.

    • Kitten says:

OT but I had NO idea Bella Hadid had so much plastic surgery (in the slideshow you shared).

      DAMN O_O

    • Diana says:

Is that really the same person?!

  8. Lightpurple says:

She is all about the bling.

  9. Maya says:

Class is something you cannot buy and the Trumps are the biggest evidence of that.

Everything they do is tacky and classless even if they don’t try to be like that.

  10. Louise177 says:

The lasers photo is the best.

    • Beth says:

That’s very 80’s! In the 80’s, it was the way I had my elementary school pictures done. I cringe when I see them

  11. damejudi says:

Thank you for posting other First Lady portraits to compare to the Trump FLOTUS image, which for me is so off-putting.

It looks like death rays will shoot from her eyes at any moment.

  12. Chetta B. says:

The fake fingernails do not look good at all 🙁 I do love Michele Obama’s portrait though. All natural and she looks beautiful.

    • Kitten says:

Michelle looks energetic, strong, beautiful and so full of life compared to the Mannequin Trump.

      • Chetta B. says:

Cheek implants too. And I agree with you on Michelle. Melania denies all of her surgeries, lol.

      • Sarah says:

Michelle – i love her, even more than her husband. She is the tough one in that family. Sigh. Now we have the soft porn star. I’d be embarrassed but he is NOt my president. I still havent said President with his last name and I never will. He is a douche bag of the highest order.

    • TryingToThink says:

Oddly those seem cheap fake nails. There are more expensive versions which look better.

  13. PunkyMomma says:

The look is somewhere between Charlie’s Angels and Dynasty. Very dated.

    • JustBitchy says:

God Bodley should be in the background somewhere.

      • antipodean says:

Ha, ha, @JustBitchy, so very true! I think his name might have been Bosley, and he was played by Richie Cunningham’s dad as I recall. I am embarrassed that I know that. Or am I completely wrong, and it was the voice of John Forsythe?

      • PunkyMomma says:

It was John Forsythe who was the voice on Charlie’s Angels. Good times, good times. 😘

      • Christin says:

Bosley was the last name of the actor who played Richie’s dad, Mr. C., and the character name of the Angels’ boss.

So many Bosleys in the 1970s!

  14. Lafawnda says:

She looks fine. Every First Lady portrait will not look the same. She has her own style and I’m sure she had a certain look she was going for. She looks very pretty and not too flashy. I don’t see what the big deal is.

    • SusanneToo says:

The big deal is the million or so dollars a day it is costing us to keep her ensconced in trump tower and away from the husband she obviously loathes. And the fact that she does nothing to deserve that cost.

      • Lafawnda says:

This article is about her portrait not where she chooses to reside.

      • SusanneToo says:

And you asked what the big deal was, why she is mocked, and I answered you. She is FL in name only and I’m sure she’ll be happy when Orangino is impeached and jailed or drops dead.

      • Beth says:

@Susanne Too +1000! Some people don’t see what a big deal this is like we do. It’s depressing that this picture had to be taken of Melania as our FLOTUS

      • Lafawnda says:

I agree that she will be happy when his time as President ends. I don’t think she is enjoying her role at all.

    • Lolo86lf says:

Melania’s looks are fine. That picture looks artificial and overly touched up though. That picture does not even look like it belongs in the year 2017.

    • Tate says:

Yes, everyone has their own style. Melania and the whole Trump bunch go with tacky, all day every day.

    • Ashamed 2 b a Fl girl says:

      Lipstick on a pig.

  15. Guest says:

    Wow, talk about Photoshop.

  16. Jenns says:

That portrait will spend more time in The White House than Melania will.

  17. original kay says:

She’s the new Scarlett. Hope somewhere there is Melly to keep her straight.

  18. Lolo86lf says:

Oh my God! I cannot even begin to express how fake Melania’s picture looks. It has been photoshopped so much. Melania is not a bad looking woman why did she have the need to blur the picture? That picture does not look natural.

    • S says:

To be fair, Melania has had enough work done that she doesn’t look natural in person, either.

  19. MunichGirl says:

Whoever worked on that photo needs an image editing program course because that looks so fake.

  20. IlsaLund says:

Remember when the crazies went berserk over Michelle Obama’s portrait? My God, she wore a sleeveless dress and exposed her arms!!!! If I had guns like Michelle’s I’d go sleeveless every chance I got.

    • Olenna says:

Ditto! Gun show…I love it! Michelle looked amazing, power-dressed but elegant. Melania’s picture? It looks like an ad for the TV show Charlie’s Angels.

    • Jessica says:

Michelle looked amazing! I got inspired to really work on my arms after that. Note: I love her for a hundred more reasons, but that photo kicked a$$.

  21. kNY says:

I miss Michelle and Barack so much (we’re on a first name basis now, I guess). Their common sense, their STEADINESS, their goodness.

    • SusanneToo says:

So do I. I look forward to my tweets from Barry and Mich.😊😊

    • Kitten says:

As I’ve said before, at this point it actually pains me to see pics of the two of them.

It’s like, it’s bad enough dealing with Orangina and his tribe of freedom pillagers, but to have to remember how good it was, how proud of my country I was just 6 months ago is just too much to bear.

      • Giddy says:

This, all day, every day. *sob*

      • Erica_V says:

That’s how I feel about pictures of Hillary now. It pains me to see her standing at a pulpit composed, compassionate and strong compared to what we have to put up with.

    • Sarah says:

Their ability to keep us safe and not worry that an idiot with the nuclear football will kill us all overnight.

  22. ZGB says:

    Singing Seyi Shay:

    🎵 But you can’t airbrush reality🎵

  23. RussianBlueCat says:

I am just imagining SNL doing a skit on the photo shoot for Melania’s portrait.

  24. Chaine says:

We will miss this portrait in a few months when we get the new one, First Lady Pence with a giant golden cross and a high necked coat looking like Serena Joy from Handmaid’s Tale.

    • bleu_moon says:

Haha! I laugh, so I won’t cry. Trump is horrid, but Pence is just plain beady-eyed evil.

  25. Freespirited says:

I’m getting serious 80’s Tawny Kitaen vibes.

  26. Nicole says:

    I love a good 80s mall photo

  27. Donna says:

Had Hillary won, would everyone be chortling over her official Presidential portrait? Her wrinkles would be photoshopped into oblivion and she’d sport another of her unflattering Chairman Mao pantsuits. But she’d never be torn to shreds over it, as the cats are doing here. So much for feminism, support, and sisterhood. Check your hypocrisy. Over and out.

    • Jag says:

I think she absolutely would if it were photoshopped this badly.

I refuse to support Melania. She is costing us taxpayers money every day that she doesn’t stay in the White House, and she is participating in the multi-million dollar weekends, too. She wanted to be a kept woman – a Sugar Baby – so she should just suck it up and actually live with the rich man that she married. Or either she should divorce him. I will never support any woman who acts like she is. (And that includes my best guy friend’s married “girlfriend.” No, she’s not a girlfriend, she’s a married mistress and I don’t have to like her!)

    • Insomniac says:

Right. Nobody has ever torn Hillary Clinton to shreds, ever. And I’m sick of people who don’t give two shits about feminism suddenly whining about it if someone says something mean about a Republican woman.

      • Kitten says:

        LOL this though!

      • Shark Bait says:

The right makes fun of Hillary’s hair, her clothes, her wrinkles, her looks etc every single day. Even now, after their precious Trump won. So don’t even start about hypocrisy. Melania looks fine, the filter and her styling are ridiculous, as is her giant ring.

    • Christin says:

Oh, now I’m missing what could have been the First Dude portrait of Bill.

    • SusanneToo says:

Over and out!! Oh, I’m so burned.😂😂😂😂

      • mia girl says:

Right? (insert eye-roll) We have been all scorched from Donna’s epic burn!

        *passes the aloe to SusanneToo

    • lewissrl says:

Ironic you talk about feminism and insult Hillary at the same time.

      • Shark Bait says:

Chairman Mao pantsuit is straight up deplorable speech. Over and out indeed, boo.

    • Beth says:

@Donna, are you serious? Hillarys looks have always been torn to shreds by clueless Republican voters. They haven’t stopped. This picture is ridiculously fake. Melania the Moocher is a shame and I wish it was Bill who had a picture taken as First Man of the United States not her as the First Lady

    • Kitten says:

      Poor snowflakes 🙁

    • Lightpurple says:

You do know there is a fantastic portrait of Hillary currently hanging in the White House, right?

Now, as a feminist, I support Melania the Lazy’s right to equal rights, equal pay for equal work, equal opportunity, her right to credit in her own name, her right to serve on a jury, her right to have survivor’s benefits pass to her chosen beneficiaries (yes, this was a legal issue as recently as the 80s), her right to make her own medical decisions, and her right to control her own body. That’s what feminism is. Laughing at how she chooses to pose for a portrait is completely unrelated to feminism.

    • minx says:

I feel no “sisterhood” for Mrs. Trump. She’s not a FLOTUS, she just happens to be married to the popular vote loser. She does nothing for the country, just like her godawful husband.

    • Otaku Fairy says:

So Donna, where was your ‘feminism’ when you were voting this past election?
First of all, there’s no conservative vs, liberal hypocrisy here- photoshop jobs get critiqued no matter what side a celebrity is or isn’t associated with politically. Second, Donald Trump’s photos get criticized on a daily basis around here, so the same people criticizing Melania’s photo isn’t any kind of gender-based discrimination. Nice try.
By the way, feminism does not mean women can’t be criticized, or that people can’t say a photographer’s work looks cheesy just because the subject happens to be a woman. Most people who are actually feminists already know that. If you’re going to self-servingly co-opt a movement you don’t really care about to cape for the privileged, you should at least have a clue about the movement first. Just saying “The Left’s criticism of Trumps and Trump supporters triggers me and gives me a rage boner + Vlad pays me Bigly so I’m a (cyber) Slave4Putin,” would have made your point more succinctly and honestly without making yourself look like a fool.

    • Needlehole says:

@Donna – well said!!! The hypocrites can’t even see the forest for the trees. How utterly pathetic.

  28. t.fanty says:

The portrait is worth every penny, because it has given me this thread. Thank you ladies, and CB, for giving me a smile on this rainy morning.

  29. Andrea says:

God, where do I begin? She needs a wheelbarrow for that thing on her ring finger. Am I the only one cringing in embarrassment and wondering wtf… No okay, we have become the laughing stock of the world. We r the SNL of the world they tune in to be entertained by bigly and his crew and they never disappoint. Next week it will be Eric’s turn or maybe Ivanka there r so many to choose from…Help

    • Mel M says:

I think the ring is the worst part of the entire thing IMO. For all of Trumps talk about caring about the average American and his voter base, leaving that rock out of the portrait should’ve been a no brainer. Then again it’s not surprising since they really don’t give a crap anyway.

  30. Luca76 says:

Totes have the Muppet Babies theme song in my head 😂

  31. Catherine says:

    Trashy Trumps.

And, okay, I’ll say it: that diamond may be large, but it’s poor quality: looks cloudy and poor quality color.

  32. Apples says:

It’s perfect. She is not there to work. And the portrait says more like “to grace you with occasional presence.” So it’s a perfect portrait of Melania in the White House.

  33. M.A.F. says:

Glad I’m not the only one who saw the 80’s Glamour shot in this photo.

  34. Libra girl says:

Was this for her Real Estate license or when she auditioned for Xanadu?

  35. VegasSchmegas says:

Our Grifter First Lady…..when is this sh*tshow going to end…

  36. spidey says:

Can we have before and after photos please?

  37. lower-case deb says:

am surprised Donald Trump did not insist on it being Ivanka’s portrait.

    • TryingToThink says:

I am sure he will put up some family portrait of the Trumps in the WH. The promotion would be good for his family’s type of business.

  38. Linabear says:

Is it a thing for people to increasingly resemble their spouses over time? Because Donaldia. I know they say it happens between owners and pets which makes me really happy (my dog’s a looker).

    • WendyNerd says:

I honestly felt reminded of that too! Remember Behind the Candelabra, when Liberace had is plastic surgeon make his partner look like him?

  39. Eric says:

I keep hearing Hungry Like The Wolf by DD when I look at this “portrait”

  40. frankly says:

Is that another pussy bow blouse?

  41. noodle says:

ha, all power arms and serious face. she looks like 80s news anchor or a realtor who has not updated her picture on the posters/newsletter for over 20years and you are shocked when you decide to sell with her and see what she really looks like.
the bling on her finger is in serious competition with princess catherine’s big blue.

  42. Green Is Good says:

    This is so goddamn embarrassing.

  43. Tough Cookie says:

I know this will sound immature….I just keeping thinking of that old joke “Does your face hurt? Because it’s killing me…”

    • Justjj says:

Those are my exact thoughts every time I see Melanie’s face. I mean slowly sealing your eyes shut with injectables has to hurt at some point.

  44. Emma33 says:

This is some next-level Wal-Mart glamour shot nonsense.

I know it’s trivial considering all the real sh!t that Trump is putting the country through, but still, how embarrassing.

  45. TyrantDestroyed says:

Hahahah it looks more like the portrait of Viggo in Blockbusters 2. The photo is perfect for a meet and greet with the author of a dieting book.

  46. Radley says:

I can’t get past the fact that any woman who would marry that beast has got to be pretty awful herself. I don’t even care about her soft focus squinty-eyed portrait. I’m amazed that she sold herself to help normalize an absolutely awful loon of a man. Like girl, really? I wouldn’t even wanna make small talk with her. Keep it moving, freak show.

  47. S says:

If I were her, I’d have the ring appraised. Given her husband’s love of veracity, and piss poor financial sense, wouldn’t be shocked if he’d got it on QVC.

  48. Skins says:

She just looks creepy to me

  49. PaulY says:

We already know the answer, but is ANYTHING about this family real?

  50. Ginger Gal says:

I realize that is probably her tiny diamond, but it’s still not appropriate.

  51. Nibbi says:

soooo tacky. the soft focus !!! or is it air-brushing?? we all know she’s beautiful, it’s like, we get it, you don’t need the special effects.

    and fifteen carats. FFS

  52. robyn says:

Blah … she should get into that WH if she had any respect for the tax payer’s dollars. I don’t care if she looks like an old sock.

  53. Jayna says:

That is such an odd portrait. I love the tweets mocking it.

  54. TryingToThink says:

Melania’s portrait reminds me of Kate Middleton’s first royal portrait.

Vaseline as a filter to soften everything – yes.
Flowing locks of hair to appear sexy – yes.
Pretending to be mysterious smile to hide vacuousness – yes.
Boring, dated and fake – yes.
Arrogance because no real smile at the audience – yes.

    See here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portrait_of_Catherine,_Duchess_of_Cambridge

Kate’s biggest regret is that she didn’t think of getting BigBlue into her portrait. Melania eagerly displays her Biggie which is tacky.
Melania in dead black: whose funeral is it? Surely the Trump colours are some tacky blingy gold?

  55. Penfold says:

When I saw this picture the first thing I thought was “Soap Opera Villain” lol.

  56. april says:

The mere fact that she’s a “first lady” is so disheartening. None of the Trumps deserve to be in the White House. They are as tacky as the Beverly Hillbillies arriving in Beverly Hills. They are the White House Hillbillies. That 15 ct. ring is so tacky, with 99% of the population never being able to afford something like that, let alone a decent home, decent vehicle and college.

  57. Deeanna says:

I think that “odd part” in her hair is the sign of a very well-made wig. I’ve noticed Jane Fonda has that same type of part.

  58. Beer&Crumpets says:

She always looks to me like she has no idea where she is or how she got there. Maybe it’s the vaguely empty stare, maybe it’s the slight eye squint of confusion, or maybe it’s the slack jaw… I’m just not sure. She just looks chronically befuddled.

  59. JustJen says:

Every time I look at her, I think of that Scrubs episode where Jordan botoxed her face into an immovable mask. “Show me happy! Show me sad!! Show me angry!! ARGH!!! (as she kicks him in the crotch)

  60. Vagenius says:

God, she looks like a cat with pantyhose pulled over its head.

  61. Lia says:

She looks stunning. All of the first ladies have had their portraits touched up. This need to attack the Trumps no matter what is silly. Go after her husband for his policies if you must, and he certainly provides enough fuel for that. But give credit where it’s due. Melania Trump is gorgeous. Regardless of your political leanings, you have to give her that.
