Kylie Jenner is getting her own E! spinoff show, ‘Life of Kylie’: ugh or amazing?

89th Annual Academy Awards - Arrivals

You know what I think is a little bit funny? The older Kardashian women – Kourtney, Kim and Khloe – are sort of aging out of the Lucifer’s Homegirl Experience. It’s not just age, I know, although I don’t really know of anyone who gives a sh-t about Kourtney. Kim and Khloe really just seem to be slowly walking away from the melodrama more and more. And so Kris Jenner has started focusing all of her attention to making Kylie and Kendall the next big things. Well, here’s the end result: Kylie will have her own spinoff show.

You have been cordially invited into Kylie Jenner’s private world! The 19-year-old mogul will be opening up the doors of her exclusive domain and giving fans a behind-the-scenes glimpse into her extraordinary life in her upcoming Keeping Up With the Kardashians spinoff series, Life of Kylie. If you’ve ever wondered what’s it’s really like to be Kylie, wonder no more. The new show, premiering this summer, will expose a personal, more intimate side of makeup entrepreneur as she manages her celebrity persona, multi-million dollar company and, well, just being a teenager.

“These couple years have been such an incredible journey with the support of my fans,” Kylie said. “This show will allow me to give them a peek inside all of the exciting things I am working on as well as some personal time with friends.”

Along with highlighting her relationships with her family and closest friends, including Jordyn Woods, the eight-episode docu-series hopes to reveal the real woman behind all the lip kits, fancy cars, mega mansions, glamorous Instagram photos and filtered Snapchat stories.

“Kylie’s beauty, business savvy and fashion icon status have made her one of the most famous and successful young women on the planet,” Jeff Olde, Executive Vice President of Programming & Development at E!, said. “Kylie has achieved so much at such a young age and we know the E! audience will be thrilled now that she is ready to share an inside look at her everyday life.”

[From E! News]

“If you’ve ever wondered what’s it’s really like to be Kylie,” then you need to get out more. Let me let you in on the secret life of Kylie: she gets a lot of plastic surgery. She makes lipstick. She had an extremely dysfunctional relationship with an older guy, Tyga. She’s really messy and I hate the fact that so many younger girls think she’s amazing.

Here are some photos of Kylie out and about last night. I guess this is the look for kids today – no pants, oversized sweatshirt and purple boots. Noted!

I honestly cannot write anything negative about them. I feel bad for Kylie because she looks 30 years old and there was probably a lot of pressure from her siblings and mom to grow up.
Kendall and the Pepsi situation was such a huge eye-roll and she should donate the money from the commercial.
Even with all their money, I don’t envy them one bit.

  2. Lucy says:

    …lol.

  3. rachel says:

    Amazing ?! Of course not.

  4. Jeesie says:

I mean, she’s already sharing all this anyway through her app and social media, so this is just taking it to a more traditional platform.

Honestly if it includes an episode that’s mostly about her make-up line I might watch that. I love that behind the scenes stuff, even when it’s just people choosing shades.

  5. PIa says:

NY used to be the US fashion capital, but with the rise of the Kardashians and the Insta-models, LA is really taking its thunder,

I am not a fan of this sexy-casual-athletic-wannabe grunge look. But the times are changing…I feel old.

  6. naomipaige says:

    Ugh! They’re never going away!

  7. swak says:

Don’t we already know what her life is like? I have never watched KUWTK yet I know more about their life than I really want to know.

  8. bonobchick says:

    Trash!

  9. minx says:

    I vote “ugh.”

  10. Bridget says:

All 3 older Kardashian women still try their hardest to bring the drama, but it’s just not getting the same traction it used to. I’m assuming Kylie ended up with the spinoff because I can’t imagine most of Kendall’S jobs welcoming an E! camera crew (and it’s also tacky enough to devalue her).

    • me says:

It’s Kylie’s show but her family will still be all up in the cameras. Just another show with fake drama. This family just needs to give it up already. Odd that she breaks up with Tyga and then the news of her new show comes out. Interesting. They all play by the same book…same tricks. Are they currently doing casting calls for some “fake friends” for her too? I bet they are.

    • Val says:

I think that people would still be interested in Kim, but she’s not on the show as much as the others anymore, and Khloe Kourtney and Kris are boring AF.

  11. Clare says:

I just feel super sad for this kid. She has had her childhood ripped away from her by greedy and irresponsible (and narcissistic) parents. She’s ended up with a ridic amount of plastic surgery, a much older (and by all accounts a leech) boyfriend, and I’m assuming a tonne of self esteem issues.

I personally think it is irresponsible of E! to play into this…but people will watch so they shall make.

Having said that – maybe now Kris will back off her older daughters and perhaps her grandchildren MAY have a chance and a vaguely normal childhood.

  12. Snowflake says:

Business savy, lmao. More like other people do the work , she gets credit.

    • me says:

That’s pretty much how the whole family is. Ask Kim anything about Business and how her stores operate, she’d have no clue.

    • Mare says:

All she does is slap her name on products.

    • Elizabeth says:

savvy means UNDERSTAND savvying means understanding! don’t use it in a sentence if you don’t know what it means! and ugh on this whole fame whore family

  13. Beth says:

Ugh! How in the world is this family important, interesting and amazing enough to have all these spinoff shows? They shouldn’t ever have had any show ever

  14. sunnydaze says:

I think it’s important to put her “success” in perspective. Is she really “making” lipstick, or is she (I mean, her mother) licensing her name and making a few trips to a factory somewhere to say “this looks pretty!” Just like with creating apps, her extension line, etc….she’s probably presented with some interesting ideas that other people put a ton of work into and her main contribution is to allow her name stamped on them then promote them on her social media outlets. Marketing is (of course!) a HUGE part of what makes businesses successful simply by reaching target populations, but I have a hard time hearing people (not on this site, just in the general public) raving about how she’s such an incredible business woman with all of her various ventures. No, there are some legit hard working people who work insane hours paying off insane amounts of student loans to put together quality products her mother then sifts through and a few lawyers weigh in and eventually push a contract over saying next time she takes a selfie hashtag this color lipstick.

I think I’m extra salty this morning so forgive the side eye, but I HATE how celebrities (with a few exceptions, sure) are marketed as geniuses who are actually getting their hands dirty. Kylie is not sitting down literally creating an app. She’s not researching chemicals to make this or that color for her makeup line. She’s a face, she’s a personality (I guess), but most importantly, she’s a name. I highly doubt she has any working knowledge of what really goes down to make these various businesses successful. I don’t think we as a society are doing anyone any favors by holding up people like this as something to aspire too, or putting their work on par with other professionals. It’s a culture of nepotism (looking at you Kushner). When you surround yourself with bright people who know what’s going on, it’s not terribly hard to keep a successful machine going. It’s like starting life on third base and the pitcher is throwing a beach ball. Kris Jenner on the other hand….credit where credit is due. As much as I loathe her, she’s a bizarre mastermind in her own right.

    • Chetta B. says:

I wouldn’t worry about being extra salty. You are absolutely right and I agree with you.

    • Bridget says:

YEP. This drives me crazy too. It’s not business acumen to slap your name on any and every item possible. But on the other hand – I feel like it’s women who get the brunt of this “they’re not really a genius” discussion. Do we talk about Jay-Z dabbling in anything that will make him money? Not so much.

      • sunnydaze says:

I agree, women do usually get the brunt of this. Maybe because so many females enter in the makeup/haircare/fashion industries that tend to target other female consumers? Regardless, I actually just went off on this about Michael Jordan. My brother is constantly buying “Jordan” stuff for my son – onesies, baby sneakers, baby socks….and I unloaded on my husband how it seems like any old athlete or celeb can just slap their name on something these days and the public finds it acceptable to pay insane amounts of money.

    • prettylights says:

I follow a lot of makeup bloggers on instagram and the funny thing is that her products aren’t even all that great from what they say. There was an issue with the lipstick wands being messed up and all askew, the colors flaking off, and then I guess she releases ‘special’ collections that are basically her regular line colors but with different names. So people paid to have both thinking they would be different but it’s the same colors. She also mimics other popular cosmetic line palettes with her eyeshadow palettes and has shades in the same grouping as theirs. There’s also the whole thing about her apparently using a very similar lipstick formula to Colorpop (made in the same factory) and even having similar shades but the Colorpop ones are much less expensive. Finally, I guess her customer service sucks and there have been a lot of issues with that. But despite all of this her products still sell out immediately when they are released because her ‘fans’ are so into her products.

I’m huge into makeup and would never buy any of her products. I do research before I purchase something and from the research I’ve done I wouldn’t throw any money at her line when I can get similar products from more reputable companies for the same price or less, and know that they probably care a lot more about their customer service than she does.

However, I can’t shade her for her (or – her Mom’s) business savvy. If I could make millions of dollars off people buying cosmetics solely based on my name/popularity, and people are willing to spend the money, why not? I just feel that she should care more about her products and customer service.

  15. Nancy says:

Well they have all had their own spin-off shows, so now it’s Kim.2’s turn. She has said she wants to disappear after 30, interesting to make a prediction like that 12 years before the fact. She is Pimp Mama Kris’ last spawn and last to keep tarnishing all that is good in television. They are fading into obscurity. Khloe did as I predicted and put the curse on the Cavs with her boyfriend Tristan getting injured and ruining his five years on the floor without missing a game. Hate her. Try to imagine where Kylie would be if not a Jenner. Probably a happier girl living the life of a 18 year old as opposed to looking like a 30 year old burn out. Connie D’Amico for Family Guy viewers. Burned out and used up by age 19.

    • Annetommy says:

Mama’s last spawn? Not when the network picks up my story about Kris’s struggle to have a baby at her age, and the resultant birth of miracle offspring Kashinin Jenner.

  16. HannahF says:

Kylie’s so called business savvy and beauty are PMK’s doing and Kylie is merely the beneficiary

  17. Michelle says:

Kaiser, I know you stated that you hate the fact that some young girls find her amazing, but rest assured there are at least 5 girls here in the back woods of NC that think she is full-on white trash. They all wish that family would just go away.

    • Shazza says:

I was so sad to read she showed up at some boy’s prom and ‘the kids went crazy’ and were sharing pics on social media. I’m sure it was filmed, but really?

  18. Anastasia says:

Do you even think she gets the allusion in the show’s title? Life of Riley, a radio then TV show and the title was based on a saying going back to the 1880s in Ireland about the Riley clan. They minted their own money and then spent it very freely. That’s what it means to say someone’s “living on their Riley’s.”

LOLOL HA, like she’d ever get that reference.

  19. serena says:

What is she going to talk about? Plastic, money and Tyga? Sooooo interesting *rolls eyes*.
