Angelina Jolie stopped by the UN to meet with the Secretary-General

Angelina Jolie keeps it chic and classy after a meeting at the United Nations Headquarters

True or false: Angelina Jolie has no style. I think that’s false, but I have my reasons. If we’re saying that Angelina has had bad red-carpet style for the better part of a decade, then sure, I’ll agree with that. But I actually think she has a good eye for separates and professional attire. She has a good eye for suits, pencil skirts, coats, blouses, tote bags, sweaters and well-cut slacks. I’d actually love it she started wearing those kinds of clothes to premieres instead of trying to figure out how to work a sparkly sack dress or whatever.

Anyway, these are photos of Angelina at the United Nations yesterday. She wore a flattering mid-length pencil skirt and simple blouse. This is how she should dress more often, right? Right. And I love her red-burgundy purse. Angelina and the kids flew to New York from Toronto a few days ago, and I guess Angelina wanted to check in with her UN friends. She had some kind of meeting/photo-op with UN Secretary General António Guterres. Guterres used to be the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, so they’ve known each other for probably fifteen years or so.

What else? Jon Voight came to her premiere last night, and he went to the afterparty too. Angelina and Jon are going through one of those phases where they don’t hate each other, and I guess I hope that Jon can stay quiet in the press about his daughter. Here’s a photo of Angelina at the afterparty. Amazing coat! She should have worn that to the premiere.

That brown skirt is so unflattering. It makes her look like she has a tummy and she really, really doesn’t. That cream colored dress is absolutely stunning.

    • Kate says:

The cream dress is perfect for her. The flared skirt balances out her proportions.

The floaty blouse with the fitted shirt is terrible. The blouse makes her look much bigger on top, the skirt highlights how narrow her bottom half is, and the two together just make her look odd.

    • Clare says:

Right? That is not a good skirt.

She is so beautiful, almost painfully so, but jeeeez her styling…

    • Tessy says:

Agreed. The skirt and blouse look and fit like she pulled them off the rack at the New To You. And I hate those pointed shoes. Love the coat dress though.

    • KB says:

      Hideous skirt. Fantastic coat dress.

    • Hazel says:

Yeah, it’s way too tight on her, that’s the problem.

  2. Suzanne says:

I always think that Pax has Brad’s mannerisms.

  3. Jessi says:

I love love love the last photo! Maddox’s face, Angelina’s smile… I love it

the only never miss with Angie are her coats.
i think i’ve never seen a boring coats on her. they’re always interestingly cut.

the rest of her wardrobe… hmm nope.

maybe a few standout pieces like her green maternity dress, the white ralph russo peplum she wore on her first outing after double mastectomy. the rest i can’t even remember….

  5. UmYeah says:

Her legs are so teeny tiny, i hope she taking care of her health. Love all the work she does for refugees

  6. Ramy says:

Her movie got 83 on rotten tomatoes . she came back stronger

  7. Shirleygail says:

Seems to me since the surgery and reconstruction, her nipples are always, always there, in one’s face and I wonder, why?

  8. minx says:

Whatever she’s doing to her face…tweaks, moisturizer, whatever..she looks glowing and beautiful. As far as style…Her clothes are too monochromatic for my taste but I think that’s her thing.

  9. Mermaid says:

Her face is stunning but oh my gosh her legs are tiny!!! I hope she is taking care of herself those kids need her.

  10. Sage says:

    True. She has no style.

  11. Honey says:

That first outfit is terrible. The baggy shirt tucked almost up to her boobs in the too high waisted, ill-fitting skirt is awful. Is she even wearing a bra,or is it just really cold? She’s not the best dresser at all

  12. Ellie71 says:

Thought she looked pretty great when she met the UK Queen a couple of years ago. Looked pretty stylish then .

  13. Coconut says:

A good day dress would work so much better for her UN meetings.

  14. Green Is Good says:

For a UN visit, put the torpedo nipples away.

  15. Monica says:

I would imagine he would have better things to do UN is such a joke

  16. jenna says:

Flawless. Her hair, outfit, smile. She look so much more comfortable in her skin when taking part in her humanitarian work than she does at premiers or in film related interviews.

  17. graymatters says:

Love: AJ’s UN work, her hair, her smile.
Hate: that shade of white on her, that shape of a blouse, that ill-fitting, mud-colored skirt.
I’m old so: nude shoes were originally a white alternative to balance out a light colored outfit. They don’t go with everything, and they don’t go with this outfit. Also, her legs look almost as bad as mine. This is what high-quality nude hose is for.

  18. Joannie says:

That outfit is so ill fitting and old lady frumpy on her. Plus the headlights!! There are nipple covers for those. Not in good taste at all. Apparently this is the man who got her the UN position.

  19. Kath says:

Ever since the cholera epidemic in Haiti (plus the UN’s refusal to accept blame) – plus all the dodgy stuff I’ve heard about stuff done by ‘peacekeepers’ – plus the fact the UN ‘human rights’ bodies are stacked with some of the world’s most oppressive regimes… yeah, I don’t view the UN in such glowing terms these days.

While they no doubt still do some good/essential work, I think a disproportionate amount of funds get spent on shiny white 4WDs and ‘awareness raising’.

UNICEF seems to have maintained its good reputation, though.
