Kate Hudson celebrates her ‘first date anniversary’ with Danny Fujikawa

'Snatched' film premiere - Arrivals

I’m delighted to know I am not the only one who celebrates a “first date-a-versary.” I’m also in what I consider good company. Kate Hudson, who regardless of what questionable career choices she makes, gets a lifetime pass because of Almost Famous and mama Goldie Hawn, shared a post to Instagram on Sunday, commemorating her first date with musician Danny Fujikawa.

The 38-year-old actress posted a photo kissing Danny on a scenic hike, accompanied by an adorable pooch. Along with the photo, Kate shared their story. They actually met over a decade ago, when Kate was “enormously pregnant” with Ryder, her son with Black Crowes frontman Chris Robinson. Kate was pals with Danny’s stepsisters, actresses Erin and Sara Foster (and their Dad is David Foster, currently canoodling with Katharine McPhee…small world, huh?) Here’s the story, in its entirety:

[From Kate Hudson on Instagram]

The first time I met Danny I was 23 and enormously pregnant with Ryder. His step sisters are my best friends @sarafoster @erinfoster and so it goes we have been in the same circle for over a decade! A year ago today Danny took me on a hike and what I thought was just a hike with a family friend turned very quickly into an unexpected first date. No moves were made on this first date. In fact, it took months for him to make a first move! And as a kiss on this bridge would have been nice, the kiss a year later was so much sweeter. So on our 15th year of knowing each other we were able to open our hearts to each other to feel so much pure love and it’s been truly incredible.! ❤️Happy first date anniversary baby. #LoveThisMan 🙏 #WhatAYear

How sweet – although Kate’s math is off, isn’t it? Ryder is 13, not 15. Oh well, the accounting may be off, but the sentiment is still there. I’m not much of a romantic, but I do love the idea of “first date-a-versaries” myself and have no problem celebrating mine. Kevin and I went to trivia at a local wing joint and we did kiss on our first date (and if I had it to do all over again, I’d do it the same exact way). The Kate and Danny relationship was certainly a long time coming, and 15 years of friendship makes a pretty solid foundation for love, don’t you think? I’m happy for them. Kate seems pretty awesome, as I’ve said before, and last week, she demonstrated this by posing for photos with some fans in Santa Monica (with her dreamy brother Oliver. Sigh). I wish them the best.

She said 15th year, so it means – 14 full years, the beginning of the year in which they will turn 15 in the end of it?
