Lindsey Vonn wants to represent America, not Donald Trump, at the Olympics

2015 Alpine Skiing World Cup

It’s worth noting, for our foreign readers, that here in America, we consider South Korea one of our country’s greatest allies. We love South Korea. We’re tight with South Korea. They’re one of our closest buds in Asia. Early next year, South Korea is hosting the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang. Is that close to North Korea? For sure. But considering how America and South Korea are super-tight, you would think that the default position would be “of course American athletes would love to compete in a country we consider one of our greatest allies.” That’s Deep State thinking though. That’s soft-on-crime thinking. Yes, the official position of the White House – as said by Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the WH press secretary – is that no decision has been made. What???

No, seriously, WHAT? Why would the White House order American athletes to boycott an Olympics being hosted by one of our allies??? Did Bigly Trump get confused (cough) and think that South Korea was North Korea (cough) because he really is that f–king stupid (hacking cough)?

I guess it’s always a possibility that Bigly would order a boycott of the Olympics because A) he’s a baby-fisted Grinch and B) because some athletes hate his f–king guts. Olympic gold-medalist Lindsey Vonn is planning to compete in South Korea, but she wants to make it clear that if she does go, she’s representing her country and not this orange lunatic. From her CNN interview:

A number of US athletes have spoken out against Donald Trump during his presidency — and skier Lindsey Vonn has become the latest to have her say. Targeting Olympic gold at February’s Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, Vonn is in St. Moritz, Switzerland, where she spoke passionately about what it means to compete for the US ski team.

“Well I hope to represent the people of the United States, not the president,” Vonn told CNN’s Alpine Edge. “I take the Olympics very seriously and what they mean and what they represent, what walking under our flag means in the opening ceremony. I want to represent our country well. I don’t think that there are a lot of people currently in our government that do that.”

And Vonn revealed she wouldn’t accept an invitation to the White House if she were to win gold at Pyeongchang. “Absolutely not,” said Vonn. “No. But I have to win to be invited. No actually I think every US team member is invited so no I won’t go.”

[From CNN]

Yes, I think it’s traditional for the White House to hold a reception for all of the Olympians and their families before any given Olympics, and then once the Olympics are over, the medal-winners are invited back to the White House for another reception. Vonn is saying she’s not into it. Good for her. I’m enjoying the rise of athlete-advocate, or the political athlete. If Vonn doesn’t want anything to do with Trump, that’s her call. But you know FOR A FACT that Donald Trump is so petty and thin-skinned that he would literally call for an Olympic boycott just because a bunch of Olympians bad-mouthed him and refused to meet him. He would live-tweet the breakup too! Any second now, U BUM is going to tweet that he uninvited Vonn to the White House months ago.

Any thoughts that 45 wants to boycott the Olympics in support of Russia? B/c our country is now run by elected officials loyal to Russia and not the United States?

    • Juls says:

Bingo. We should all boycott Trump and the GOP.

    • Me46 says:

Seriously though there are reports that we are going to boycott due to “safety concerns”

I don’t think people realize how close we are to war over there. I have an impending sense of dread and I’m not a CT believer in the least.

    • AnnaKist says:

I was also thinking that, Ariel. Or perhaps he’s simply confused Pyeongchang with Pyongyang. He’s that stupid.

It does seem a bit too close for comfort, though, geographically-speaking.

    • Pandy says:

Just what I was coming on to say. Solidarity with puppet master Putin more likely.

    • whatWHAT? says:

      yup.

Many of these athletes have been working most of their lives for this opportunity. For some, it will be their last shot because of age. It’s disgusting to think it might all be for naught because the world has become an even more dangerous place since 1/20/17. Ever since the Fat Old Dotard sat his flaccid fat ass in the Oval Office he has made it his goal to make the USA the pariah of the world. He has succeeded. I can hardly wait till he croaks.

    • Esmom says:

Exactly. If he ruins their chances out of spite or stupidity, they need to find another way to go. I’m guessing other countries might be happy to open their borders and “adopt” some athletes.

      • whatWHAT? says:

as with some of the Russian athletes, maybe the IOC will allow the US to compete as “neutral” athletes. Don’t know how the medaling will work, but that’s a possibility.

      • mira belle says:

Ah, posted similar to What above 🙂 Not sure exactly how it is determined but over the years athletes have been allowed to compete under the Olympic flag (and the Olympic theme, not the country’national anthem is played if they win a metal). Even though Russia is banned this year, a few Russian athletes will be allowed to participate this way.

I think this work-around and inclusiveness is in the very best spirit of what the Olympics stand for.

I could have never imagined a president of my country could break so many spirits. I wouldn’t represent him in a worm wrestle. He is such a vile creep. Sure he will be tweeting about Lindsey, just as he goes after anyone who voices an opinion against him. To think he was just golfing (the thing he does constantly, denies and accused President Obama of doing) with her ex Tiger Woods. Sigh. Lindsey, stick to your guns, but try Monsters as opposed to Red Bull, much better!!

    • Neelyo says:

He won’t go after her because she’s an attractive white woman. But he’ll sic the deplorables on her.

      • Anna says:

Um, he has gone after many ‘attractive white women’. What are you talking about? Attractive white women seem to be his favourite victims.

      • Sophia's Side eye says:

He’s not trying to build a wall to keep out attractive white women, Anna. Get real.

  4. Other Renee says:

I hope this isn’t the beginning of the end of the Olympic Games. Doping is out of control across the board resulting in the tainting of the entire event and decreasing interest. Russia tossed out and now the US may withdraw because of the nimrod in the White House. I need to go back to hiding my head in a crossword puzzle book now. It’s my escape from all that 2017 has brought.

  5. Crowdhood says:

The Big Time Dicks podcast called Sanders “the mean girl from a Georgia high school that says ‘there’s no room for you in the prom limo’” and now I can’t unsee that.

    • Esmom says:

Ha. Although part of me can’t imagine her in the prom limo at all, except maybe driving it.

    • Neelyo says:

      I’d go a step further:

She’s the ‘mean girl from a Georgia HS who’s only allowed to hang with the popular crowd because she has a swimming pool and compensates for her looks with extra cruelty’ that says ‘there’s no room for you in the prom limo’.

  6. happy girl says:

I’ve had dread for all the Olympians for weeks (their safety)….but especially the American team because of that fucking orange maniac and his fuckery.

  7. LondonLozza says:

Can the athletes not compete as independent athletes (i.e. stateless) like they do at the summer OIympics?

While not competing directly for your country, you can still go and represent something better than the orange monster…

*also super petty, but I have a feeling Donald Trump on skis would just be hilarious.

  8. Monsy says:

Well good luck representing United States.

  9. Kristiec68 says:

Go Lindsey! Also, I love her so much for her full face makeup while skiing!

  10. Maum says:

Surely it’s not up to him to call for a boycott? Doesn’t each individual sporting federation pick athletes?
There is no ideological reason to boycott and ‘security concerns’ should be up to each athlete. South Korea is not a war zone…

  11. Blue says:

She is now limping. Guess she won’t be representing the USA, and her dream of not going to the white house is coming true b/c lo losers don’t get invited anyway.
