Adriana Lima is a model and actress. She is a beautiful woman and works hard to maintain a very fit figure. Although a former GUESS model and Maybelline spokesperson, Adriana is probably most well known for her 18-year career as a Victoria Secret’s Angel. VS Angels don’t wear much clothing in either print ads or on the runway. However, Adriana made a surprising announcement over the weekend, that she will no longer be showing skin if the reason for her to undress is an “empty cause.” According to her Instagram, Adriana has had a change of heart about being a part of societal beauty standards after her friend said she was “unhappy” about herself.
Many people were unclear what Adriana meant when she said she wasn’t going to take her clothes off anymore because that is exactly what VS asks her to do. She hasn’t said much, but she did clarify that she is not hanging up her Angel wings. VS is her job and she was responding to a video referenced in her Instagram post. I have no problem with this. They have a job and they have very specific requirements to fill that job. It’s hard for me to in any way compare myself to Adriana Lima so let me try this really bad comparison. I cook and consider myself a pretty good cook. However, I have a friend who is a chef by profession and a very gifted chef at that. She routinely brings regular chocolate chip cookies to bake sales or basic mac and cheese to potlucks. She once confided in me that she used to bring her A game to social functions because she knew she was being judged harsher than everyone else there. But then she realized they weren’t judging her, they were judging themselves by her measuring stick. And she was right. In this way, I understand and applaud Adriana’s thoughts on this.

On one hand, I applaud her. On the other hand, this is an easy statement to make after all those checks have been cashed.
Right? Easy to “change your goals” when the piggy bank is full… When i first saw her pic i thought it was Megan Fox after a recent face swap…not Adriana’s best pic, she is pretty…but that pic…oy!
Is Megan Fox not beautiful? I mean regardless of whatever procedures she’s undergone is the final result not beautiful? IDK I’d DIE to look like her or Adriana.

Her boyfriend is some kind of “spiritual guru” and her posts have been getting more and more “spiritual” of late. Compared to the other VS angels she barely promoted the recent campaign and show on her social media, she was doing posts about her spirituality with a bunch of mangled go-to terms for spiritualists. This is unsurprising. I kinda thought she would stick VS out for one more year to get it to 20 and then get out. It must be exhausting putting your body through all of that. The shame of it is that when she leaves most of the curves (and by far the best walk and presence) goes with her. The body type they go for has gotten consistently skinnier over the years. She is fit as hell and smoking hot and she has real curves and nice looking thighs, etc. Most of them now are very very very thin with little gym-worked butts, twig arms and thighs and either tiny boobies pushed up to their max to get a semblance of cleavage, or else bolt-ons. There are a couple of exceptions. Ah well! As long as she’s happy and she’s made her millions… more power to her!

She has a few more years at least to make bank off getting naked or near naked in pointless videos …. look at Kate Moss, Halle Berry, etc – a lot of beautiful women who still make money off their sexuality or pushing their sexuality well into their 40s. So I find this more commendable than annoying but I do wonder if she’ll be able to stick to what she said, considering her brand.
