Can we, as a society, collectively stop worrying about Keanu Reeves? I’m not saying that to be mean at all – I’m saying that as someone who genuinely believes Keanu is a sweet, decent man who is fine. He’s had profound tragedy in his life, he sometimes looks unkempt, and he sometimes looks sad when he’s just chilling out. But he’s fine.
Still, these photos of Keanu created a lot of “poor sad Keanu” conversations. Keanu was just chilling out in New York, taking a break from stunt training for John Wick 3. He looked unkempt, and I’m pretty sure that’s for the character. He was sipping a protein drink and smoking a cigarette. Let Keanu Be Keanu, peeps!!! He’s a 53 year old vampire who likes to be quiet, smoke a cigarette on a street corner and meditate on the loading van which was in front of him. I do this all the time: it’s often fruitful and restful to just sit somewhere quietly, rest your mind, sip a drink and just let your mind wander as you watch other people do things.
May we all be so zen at the age of 53. May we all be as low-key at that age too. It just feels like Keanu is just a regular dude sometimes, right? So many celebrities pretend to be “real,” and then there’s Keanu. The Keanu Abides.

Shopping on the street. My ex ran into his car while on a run once. That lead to fun interaction. At motorcycle shows. This man is so grounded and always so humble. Like he doesn’t know he’s famous and doesn’t care.
Keanu looks like we all do at times. He just has paps on him. Dude is just living.
With context i have met a fair amount of celebrities he is forever my favorite. He is what you see. Human. Struggles. Pain, loss, love, spirit. Perseverance. I’ll sing his praises all damn day.

I’ve like Keanu every since I saw him and River Phoenix (who I miss dearly) in My Own Private Idaho. He looks good for 53yrs young☺ he seems like a sweet man (I never hear negative things about him) and he’s good looking and a he’ll of an actor to boot. What’s not to like. I think people feel sad about Keanu because he’s private you never really know what’s going on with him so people choose to make up stuff and since he’s rumored to be a good guy people cant say anything bad about him so they choose to go the sad Keanu route. I say let Keanu do Keanu and stop trying finding stuff to goat him into revealing his personal side. If he chooses to be private so let him. If I were a celebrity I’d be private as f–k because I to am a private person I’ve always been that way and I’m 47yrs not that I have anything to hide but I feel strongly about it now in this day and age because something needs to be yours and off limits. Not everyone needs to know where you are where your going for vacay your relationship states and what your kids look like or what you do on a daily. That is just me. To each its own. But I can’t Waite to see John Wick 3.

I watched Rivers Edge the other day and young Keanu was so friggin adorable. He has some seriously good genes and seems like a good dude as far as millionaire celebs go.
I think Keanu is the only man who gets the “you’d look better if you smiled” BS from the world. Most people don’t smile to themselves smoking outside on a training session break.

I will love him forever, I love his awkward interviews because it reminds me of myself😄 We never hear bad things about him, ever, and he seems like a good guy. We should all sit and stare off into space like this sometimes, instead of staring at our phones constantly. It’s ok to have moments of quiet or boredom, people have forgotten that I think. It’s also ok to go out looking less than perfect like he does, lol.
I agree with your comment, but in particular, about sitting restfully without a phone in our hand. Some people read sadness into these Keanu pictures, but I think, geez, that looks relaxing, that looks like a guy who isn’t afraid to sit with his thoughts or who needs to always distract himself from his anxieties (unlike myself!).
I call it resting sad face, a lot of us have it. Usually is a down turned face and the beard makes it even worse because you can’t see smiles and expressions. He probably isn’t sad at all, its just his natural face.
I have a strict No Smokers policy.

Wait, what tragedies did Keanu experience? He is still beautiful even with the Grizzly Adams look.
His longterm girlfriend/fiancé died in a car accident and she was pregnant with their child. His sister had cancer for sometime and he took of her and then of course, River Phoenix.
She wasn’t a long-term girlfriend nor a fiancee. She wasn’t pregnant when she died. They were together for about a year when she got pregnant. He bought her a house for her and the baby, but he did not live with her. The baby was stillborn late in her pregnancy. He broke up with her sometime after the baby was stillborn.
It sounded like they stayed friendly. She died in a car accident a year and four or five months after the death of her baby. There was a lawsuit about it. She was at Marilyn Manson’s house at a party. Before dawn someone drove her home. But she got back in her car and drove back to the party, On the way there, she crashed into parked cars and was ejected and died. Her family sued Marilyn Manson for supplying her drugs at the party and she was drunk and they found other pills on her. I don’t know what became of the lawsuit.
He has had a lot of sadness in his life, I agree, between losing his child, friend River Phoenix, ex-girlfriend, My mother delivered a stillborn baby at ten months after induction of labor. She never wanted to talk about him with me or my siblings. It was a very painful and private grief for her. I never brought it up to her even as an adult because of that and got most of information from my dad. I can’t imagine the pain it caused Keanu and his ex-girlfriend.
Thanks Jayna for clearing up what I got incorrect. My mother lost a child, died as a baby (an older brother) before I was born. She would just choke up and cry if it was brought up, even in her old age. Losing a child if it is a baby, still born or older, is tragic.

I don’t know if I could trust someone who didn’t like Keanu! What’s not to like? He seems fairly harmless and keeps to himself. He’s a good actor who does what he likes, whether it’s playing Hamlet on the stage for an old friend or returning to the world of Bill and Ted, rather than what is going to advance his career. And he’s still adorable at 53!
I adore Keanu. He’s lost a point or two because of the smoking, but that still leaves him miles in front of any other Hollywood actor to me.

True story: over 20 years ago I was an art student working nights in a trendy cocktail bar to put myself through school. Keanu used to come in quite a lot (this was in Sydney when he was there filming the matrix) and hang out and chat.
He is adorable! Affable, kindhearted and sweet and so humble and modest. One night he asked me back to his hotel room for a ‘party’ with his then gf (party of three?) but I said no because I had a very jealous boyfriend at the time who would have gone berserk.
I’ve still got the coaster with the name of the hotel and his room number scrawled on it ha ha

In the first Matrix, I was in a fully packed theater and during one action scene Keanu is wearing black and running full out while being chased by Agent Smith….A female in the theater was heard to gasp/quietly moan… “Oh God, help me, he is running, oh hell Yes!”
