‘Transformers’ director Michael Bay slams Megan Fox

transformers 140609

Michael Bay is on top of the world. As the director of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Bay is getting a lot of the credit for the film’s $201 million five-day opening. It’s the second most profitable five-day opening in the history of films, second only to The Dark Knight. Bay has always reminded me of a cheesier, more commercial version of Titanic director James Cameron – they both seem to have the same kind of hubris, the same genius for silly popcorn films, and both are known for technical and special effects extravaganzas. Both Bay and Cameron are also consistently criticized for the bad acting in their films too. So when Megan Fox, star of the two Transformers films, recently took a swipe at her director, people noticed, but it wasn’t even one of the dumbest things the girl said in the same interview, much less over the course of this whole media tour.

It was Megan’s Entertainment Weekly cover interview that started it. EW asked “What percentage of your range have people seen so far?” Megan replies: “Seven percent. On the new one [‘Transformers 2’], I tried. But unless you’re a seasoned veteran, working with Michael Bay is not about an acting experience.” (emphasis mine) In the same interview, Megan also bitched about a possible third Transformers film, giving a weak assurance and then said: “Sure. I mean, I can’t sh-t on this movie because it did give me a career and open all these doors for me. But I don’t want to blow smoke up people’s ass. People are well aware that this is not a movie about acting. And once you realize that, it becomes almost fun because you can be in the moment and go, ‘All right, I know that when he calls Action! I’m either going to be running or screaming, or both.’” The one thing I’ll never understand about actors – when they start complaining about the films they’ve made, I always think “Did someone have a gun to your head, forcing you to make it?” If you can’t respect your own work, how will other people respect it?

It’s no secret that Megan is dumb. But those kinds of comments are just unprofessional, and there’s a good chance her career will suffer if she continues to act like this. Meanwhile, Michael Bay sounds kind of pissed that his starlet is so consistently unprofessional, immature, and dumb. When the Wall Street Journal asked Bay about Megan’s comments, he slammed back pretty hard:

WSJ: What’s next for you, then?
Bay: I’ve been talking to some big actors right now about something that is totally different. A small dark comedy, a true story, with actors just acting, no effects. I’m done with effects movies for now. When you do a movie like “Transformers,” it can feel like you’re doing three movies at once—which is tiring.

WSJ: It’s interesting that you want to focus on acting. Megan Fox, one of the leads in “Transformers” has criticized your films for being special-effects-driven and not offering so many acting opportunities. Do you agree?
Bay: Well, that’s Megan Fox for you. She says some very ridiculous things because she’s 23 years old and she still has a lot of growing to do. You roll your eyes when you see statements like that and think, “Okay Megan, you can do whatever you want. I got it.” But I 100% disagree with her. Nick Cage wasn’t a big actor when I cast him, nor was Ben Affleck before I put him in “Armageddon.” Shia LaBeouf wasn’t a big movie star before he did “Transformers”—and then he exploded. Not to mention Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, from “Bad Boys.” Nobody in the world knew about Megan Fox until I found her and put her in “Transformers.” I like to think that I’ve had some luck in building actors’ careers with my films.

[From The Wall Street Journal]

Catfight on aisle four! Well done, Michael. I hope there’s some follow-through. Like blackballing Megan within Dreamworks or something like that. The fan boys will find someone new to get hot over, and girls with an oral fetish are a dime a dozen in Los Angeles. Team Bay!

    LOVE IT!

She absolutely 100% deserves it and he’s 100% correct. She IS ungrateful. Oh and he definitely jump-started her career. She was a big nobody before Transformers. Yea, you kinda knew about her from this or that. But I mean, she was never the main starlet until then.

And frankly, is anyone else tired about her going on and on about her acting? She has to know that she’s not around because of her acting skills….right?

  2. dg says:

They are both right and I never thought that day would come. He is Ed Wood of the 21th century in films and she is a living blow-up doll with nothing but air in her head.

  3. Samantha says:

“She has to know that she’s not around because of her acting skills….right?”

I think she knows, and that is why she is pushing so hard to try to convince the world otherwise.

  4. Eileen Yover says:

I used to have the biggest female crush on her-but after opening that obnoxious mouth of hers, my crush abruptly ended.

  5. Iggles says:

She’s such an idiot. Even Katherine Heigl had more experience and success before she started talking out of her a**. Still, badmouthing the movie that made you a star is not a good look.

Megan you are an IDIOT and the whole world knows it. Good luck getting another film with exposure like Transformers now that you pissed off a HUGE film insider!

  6. Enonymous says:

Well, as unprofessional as Megan Fox’s comments might been seen by some to be, she is right, I don’t think she sounded dumb. She acknowledges the movie is cheese and the roles (in these types of movies especially) for female actresses are limited to just run, scream and look pretty all the time and that is it. She should be careful not to alienate too many people in Hollywood so early in her career, but I think is good that she recognizes all the bullsh*t of the industry.

I think Michael Bay is just pissed because someone dared to criticize one of his movies, even thought he too seems to think that a movie like Transformers is not based around good acting abilities.

  7. ash says:

HAHA Go Michael. You were 100% justified in saying what you did. She is so ungrateful.

  8. lucy says:

Badmouthing anyone in this business is a bad idea. Badmouthing the guy who gave you a career? Just plain stupid.
She’s a whole lotta talk and very little talent, and prettiness only gets you so far. She should be grateful for any work she gets.

  9. Bob Lawblaw says:

Talk about cutting off your nose, to spite your face.

This girl is a some piece of work if she doesn’t realize that there’s about 500 girls right behind her, who can pretend a car just unfolded into a 30-foot monster, just as well, if not better.

  10. mxml says:

what megan said was true. obviously she could have found a more subtle way to state it, but that is not what stupidity is. it would be stupid to suggest that this movie IS about acting. at least she knows the difference.

michael bay is a douche who is probably pissed that she wouldn’t sleep with him.

blog lady you are an idiot.

  11. Ray says:

She’s an idiot but who can blame her? She memorized the lines that horrible movie and we’re all seeing the effects. Team Fox.

  12. fizXgirl314 says:

who cares. they’re both idiots… michael bay should realize that his movies ARE big budget schlock. and how many times is megan fox going to be brought up in an interview? it’s like someone’s got a vendetta against her…

  13. vale says:

She has verbal diarrhea for sure, but she’s always a good read.
That said, I can’t help but read Bay’s comments and want to quote Michael Kelso: BURNNNN!

  14. Sauronsarmy says:

Damn beat me to it. They’re BOTH idiots atleast Megan Fox is nice to look at.

  15. brittany says:

she looks fug in that pic

  16. connie says:

eh probably should’ve waited till AFTER the movie to make comment like this when reflecting on whatever career she may have. and is it just me or does anyone entertain the thought she may have slept with him for the role? idk..

  17. Kayleigh says:

Sense when were movies not about acting? WHAT THE HECK? So I’m paying $13 for you to look pretty? I’ll walk by a Victoria’s Secret for FREE and stare at the cardboard cut outs. At least they don’t open their mouths and say stupid crap.

  18. Ned says:

She was being honest and didn’t give the usual fake formulaic answer + she is threatening to take Angelina’s career so you’re bashing her.

Katherine Heigl was 100% as well, but actresses are expected not to have an opinion and to play it sweet (and lie) even if they were given lousy roles/ are in a chauvinistic movie.

I’m actually loving this aspect of this generation of actresses.
They don’t just stay quiet about all the BS they have to go through.
    Good for them.

Heigl did a good job but when was asked, she will not lie about the nature of the film and how it depicted women, and Magen did exactly what she was supposed to do, but when she was asked, she won’t lie and say she gave an Oscar winning performance.

They were being honest and said things as they were, which is great. A little less hypocrisy is always welcome.

Bay is right too, and he deserves the credit of making many actors “stars”.
He takes a chance on more unknown or actors/ actresses that were never given such opportunities, which is great.

and you are wrong about James Cameron. Titanic had one great performance after another. All actors did a great job with that one.

  19. AC says:

she’s not complaining. she’s stating fact. this isn’t a movie you do if you’re looking to sink your teeth into an acting roll… seems like she knows this.

  20. daniel says:

OK they’re both idiots! Mike didn’t give Nick Cage or Ben Affleck or Will Smith their “big break”. All of those guys had a succesful career before his films. However, I will admit that Shai and Megan were nobodys until transformers series….

  21. Codzilla says:

Ned, I effing HATE it when you force me to defend Angelina. But really, the notion that Megan Fox is going to usurp Angie’s career is ridiculous. The former is some vapid brunette who can’t act under any circumstances, and the latter is a smug brunette who can act under the right circumstances (admittedly, these have been few and far between).

All in all, they both try way too hard to set themselves apart, which in reality, makes them seem all the more bland.

  22. wow says:

Hmmm, I think I like this Michael Bay guy. And I like this red dress Meagan wore to this premier.

I don’t care too much for Megan as an actress per se, but I think she will be fine. Hollywood doesn’t care about your personality – they care about box office. Transformers brings in the bucks, so other directers and casting agents will look at that and still want to give her roles.

  23. Neelyo says:

This is great. Michael Bay’s claims about essentially discovering Nicholas Cage are going to really piss him off and he’ll have to respond, igniting another feud. Oh Megan Fox, what have you wrought!

  24. Badkrma says:

Can’t wait till she poses for playboy cause that will be all that is left for her….

  25. viper says:

I dont think being 23 is the reason for her childish behavior. I think generally she’s just a snob. The fame has gone to her head completely.

  26. Marie says:

Go Annie Go Annie. U said at all!! =)
Megan is not that good an actress she wants to believe she is. Ungrateful megan is becoming a little diva.

  27. Bob says:

She showcases her “acting” in the upcoming JENNIFER’S BODY and people who have seen the advance print say it’s an absolute horror show (and not in a good way) watching Fox try to “act” in her role as the possessed body of a cheerleader.

When that film comes out and kills her career dead in its tracks she’s gonna wish she had a paycheck coming from Transformers 3.

  28. QB says:

Megan Fox is an actress?? Since when? I have never seen her act ,I have seen her just look pretty in the screen and say how how and edgy she is.

and if she does not think the movie is about acting and she does not like it , why did she do the movie?? Because she does not have better offers.

  29. Ellie says:

Sit. Look pretty. Stand up. Run. Scream. Get paid. Shut up.

    Team Bay.

  30. jill says:

As pretty as she is, and as honest as she is I still dont like her. She has something to say about everything. Most of which is juvenile.

  31. glen says:

megan is ugly and became a stuck up bitch after he plastic surgery as quick as fame was given to her it will be taken from her… she can not act at all she is horrible, no comparison to angelina .. when i watch megan i feel like im watching a a person who loves them self a little way tooo much …. shes a turn of and wouldnt touch her with a ten foot pole .

  32. Aspie says:

For once, I’m Team Fox on this one.

Michael tries to discredit her opinion and blame it on her “age” which is BS.

Plenty of people of younger ages are smart and you don’t need to be “old” to have more wisdom. At least Megan was being honest about her opinion in that Bay’s movies are basically about T&A and cars blowing up. Even Bay acknowledged that to some degree in his EW interview.

YES, Megan is a complete ditz about certain things (well, most things) but at least she’s been honest about being an actress in Hollywood, whether about her casting couch experiences and/or the limited crappy roles offered to women in Hollywood (and let’s not even go there with the even more limited crappy roles offered to women of color).

At least she doesn’t sugar coat and keep her mouth shut.

What’s wrong with a little honesty?

  33. fizXgirl314 says:

michael bay is seriously full of himself… MALE EGO ALERT!

it kinda pisses me off that we’re willing to commend bay for being a pompous ass…

  34. Sigh says:

I have to disagree with your statement about James Cameron’s films. He gets really fantastic performances out of even B-grade actors, and has worked with some of our most talented thespians (Sigourney Weaver anyone?). Also, he is a technical innovator, and his films have been incredibly culturally relevant. If Terminator isn’t iconic, I don’t know what is.

  35. j. ferber says:

Good point, FizX. But if Megan Fox thinks her acting abilities were only utilized seven percent (how did she get that number?), then she needs to act in a small, quality film that showcases what she can do. She might even have to give up the glam for that. Certainly the big paycheck, screaming fans, out-of-control fame, etc. But somehow, I don’t think she’d be willing to do that. Better to be in the big budget schlock film, knock it, and say her acting skills were underutilized. That’s easier than actually doing an art film where her true talents would be exposed for what they are. That probably really scares her.

  36. Rosanna says:

For one, if it weren’t for MF’s smoking hot body, I doubt the movie would be a success, because action movies aren’t about acting, like Megan said. Secondly, Bay is famous for directing action movies which are particularly *dumber* than the usual action movie. True, he has had big blockbuster success but that doesn’t make a movie smart or intelligent. There isn’t any irony in his movies (the way Terminator or Batman had), nor is there a big plot (the way the Dark Night had, for example). Bay’s stuff is dumb loud stuff and MF is totally right about it (although somewhat ungrateful). But just because something gives you success you don’t need to go gaga over it and pretend it was this big important movie.

  37. jennifer says:

Michael Bay is a hack. Megan Fox is an idiot. I actually don’t mind her but she’s an idiot. They shouldn’t fight, they belong together. 😉

  38. Ned says:

Codzilla, Megan is a threat to Angelina.

Her career is based on her holding a gun, pouting and looking “tough”.
With the exception of Girl Interrupted, Angelina’s attempt to act, and excite the audience in dramas, have failed time and again.

Every time she tried to take on a role it ended up with a blunder, beginning with horrible accent work that botched a gem like A Mighty Heart that any decent actress could really turn into an incredible role, Alexander which was horrendous and wasn’t even that hard, to the screaming and overacting in both The Good Shepherd (only a small role and still managed to screw it) and Changeling.

I don’t really think the color of the hair matters or Angelina’s ability to act.
Her turf is action flicks and there’s a new hot girl in town that established herslef as capable of taking on these kinds of roles.

They don’t require acting, but rather “modeling”, looking good and being physically able.
    Angelina looked emaciated in Wanted.
It doesn’t look good on screen when your action heroine doesn’t have muscle tissue because she is too thin.

This has nothing to do with Michael Bay, who did a good job, by the way and deserves credit for giving new actors the chance to star in blockbusters.

I think his ego wouldn’t let hims see that Megan didn’t say anything that is problematic to him and his ability.

She knows her place. Doesn’t pretend to do any more.
Those were the questions that she was asked and she chose not to lie. Big deal.

    Same goed for Katherine Heigl.
She did exactly what she needed in Knocked Up, she did a great job in fact, and was charming and made the movie work.
But when she was asked she didn’t lie and said the truth, that the movie shows women in a certain way, and all the female characters were portayed in that line of thinking, especially in contrast to the male characters.

An actress needs to do her job. Both Megan and Katherine did exactly that, and you’ll be surpised, they actually know what is the nature of the film they were in, and they are not going to lie about it or make excuses for the directors of these movies.

I don’t think that Bay has anything to be ashamed of in doing an action film. He did a great job. IF he feels the need to show he can do other things- fine, but Megan doesn’t need to pretend she was in Gone With The Wind 2.0.

  39. Simon Scowl says:

Yeah, who’d ever heard of Nicolas Cage and his Oscar-winning performance in Leaving Las Vegas before Michael Bay discovered him? Will Smith? Grammys? And?

  40. lrm says:

I have to say,I agree that she is right, and that she doesn’t sound that dumb…I honestly WANT to think she’s an idiot, but not everything she says is completely absurd. The absurd part is that she hasn’t really earned the position to make such comments,so she isn’t standing on any foundation from which to make such evaluations….but she thinks she is,so it comes off as idiotic and hilarious…or is it ironic? But what she is saying-it’s not always off the mark.

  41. manda says:

I bet that Ben Affleck and Nicolas Cage will take issue with Michael Bay’s claim of discovery.

But on the whole, what he says about Megan Fox is true. She seems dim.

  42. Caitlan says:

Michael Bay wants to act like he discovered her or something along with many big actors today. Which isn’t true. I first remember seeing her a while back in the teen movie, Drama Queen with Lindsay Lohan, (before she had a nose job and duck lips.) But, I still thought she was hotter than Lindsay. Anwyay, the person who cast her in Drama Queen deserves the credit for so called “discovering of her.” That was her first major motion picture role.

  43. Vex says:

Megan Fox is the only reason people are actually watching the piece of crap Bay directed.

  44. Zoe (The Other One) says:

    What Codzilla said. Totally.

And I do still have a big girl crush on her because she’s so freakin’ gorgeous but honestly, Megan darlin’; you get lucky enough to be cast in a Michael Bay film and alls you need to do is sit back, count your money and be thankful for him making you a star. You wanna do worthy films, fine, go ahead, but like, you’ll need to have some acting chops. Which you don’t.

  45. geronimo says:

I don’t think Megan Fox is dumb at all, her problem is she has the attitude of someone with a far more established career than she has, but not the CV to back it up, which is what mainly gets up people’s noses. She’s probably not going to endear herself to many people but she’s not wrong here, and Michael Bay is an arrogant and delusional ass, particularly with his Nick Cage comment.

  46. Kelly says:

Oh I KNOW Michael Bay did not just take credit for Nic Cage, Ben Affleck, AND Will Smith all in the same breath. How much bigger is his ego going to get before he realizes his entire career is a joke without a punchline?

And when will he and Megan Fox just cut it out already and admit they’re totally hot for each other? Because you KNOW they had sex during the filming of TF and TF2.

Also, I don’t think that red dress in that picture up there could get any skankier if it tried. Ugghh.

  47. Enonymous says:

Michael Bay should have kept his mouth shut when he was ask that question, his comment was much more disrespectful, personal and catty then Megan Fox’s. I love to see all the other actors he mentioned commenting on his credit taking, arrogant words and see what his response would be then. He should just stick to making robots turn into toasters or whatever and let the interviews to his actors/actresses.

  48. Lita says:

Seriously, I watched Transformers movie because of the *transformers* – I used to watch the anime on Cheese TV before I went to uni each day. I didn’t watch it for MF or anyone else. Though I maintain that comment about how she could call her kid brian to account for the tattoo if they broke up is ironical GOLD. I think she is hillarious.

Don’t scratch your head. Cheese TV was australian which is why you have never heard of it ;o)

  49. rbsesq says:

Ned, no one “gives” actors and actresses their roles. They are offered roles. After the audition. So first of all, they make the choice to audition for a role AFTER reading the script. Second of all, they CHOOSE to accept an offer after the audition. If it’s not a role they like, they shouldn’t do it. And they certainly shouldn’t complain about it after they’ve done it.

Why are people so obsessed with Megan Foz. I just don’t get it. She just looks trashy and every word out of her mouth is negative. Someone needs to explain to her that you don’t have to blow out someone else’s candle just to make yours burn brighter.

  50. Iggles says:

    rbsesq – Word!

She is so skanky and she can’t act!!

  51. BlueSkies says:

How many celebs today could pull off that hairstyle? Name one. No, AJ is not one of them!

  52. Anoneemouse says:

All of the media attention is turning her into a monster.

  53. Ned says:

“If it’s not a role they like, they shouldn’t do it. And they certainly shouldn’t complain about it after they’ve done it. ”

Neither Megan nor Katherine Heigl have complained about their roles.

They chose not to lie and not to make excuses as to the nature of the movie and the directorial choices.

They were asked, they said things exactly as they are.
Why should they lie when everybody knows the truth anyways and it wasn’t their choice, but rather the directors’ or the nature of the movie they were in.

Should Katherine Heigl pretend she was in a feminist film?
Should Megan say she just did a thoughtful drama?

They did their job perfectly- each in her own category, and now that their job is done, they chose not to make a fool out of themselves, once they were asked about the movies.

  54. George says:

I don’t know why Bay overreacted to her lighthearted remarks. It’s obvious some of you Megan fox haters didn’t pay attention to the interview she had. All she said was that Transformers opened the door to her career but the movie isn’t really about acting which is actually true. All Bay does is repeat the comments that she made about her career, and talks about promoting actors he made famous, even though that has nothing to do with the ” acting ” he unsuccessfully claimed to be solidified in his movies

  55. George says:

Oh yeah , i also don’t know why people keep claiming she’s fake. Unless you folks can actually prove that she got more plastic surgery besides from the one she got for her nose, you people aren’t anything that can be considered facts, so keeping ranting about Megan’s so called ” fake ” looks. You’re not proving anything, so therefore Ms. Fox will always be naturally beautiful to me.

  56. lemoncars says:

The only reason Will Smith, Ben Affleck, Shia LaBeouf, etcs careers were jump started was because of the high box office gross of those movies. Michael Bays movies are not popular for their acting, but for their special effects. Those previously unknown actors popularity boosts was a by product of the large box-office gross from the movies. They did not become popular for their acting but because they were seen by the millions who went to the movie wanting explosions and special effects. Fox is right, Bay is delusional.

  57. George says:

It’s not suprising that Fox said Transformers doesn’t involve a lot of acting. It’s a CGIdriven film where the real stars are GIANT ROBOTS. So there shouldn’t be a lot of acting expected from any of the actors. So obviously, this doesn’t give Megan a chance to showcase a lot of her acting talent. And since most of you only know Fox from the Transformers sequels, how can you assume she’s a bad actress when you’ve haven’t even seen half of her acting capabilities ?

  58. Codzilla says:

George: Rest assured that we’re all waiting eagerly for Megan’s “talent” to rear its forgettable head … yawn. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

  59. George says:

Anyway, my point is that Bay may have gave Megan’s career a boost , but Fox is still correct . All Mike does did was echo her by saying he opened doors to her career ( which is what Megan already stated herself ) then goes into saying he made will smith , Ben affleck, Nick Cage, )

  60. George says:

Rest assured if you’ve only seen her give one to two performances, you wouldn’t have gave me the sarcastic remark you gave me. If you think she’s talentless, fine. But i’m saying it’s not a fair assumption to make if most people only saw her in one to two movies thus not even seeing the true potential of her acting skills. Not only that, but those exact movies don’t require a lot of acting talent since the true stars are 1O to 1OO foot mechanicals.

  61. George says:

Bay also can’t even claim any of the said actors. Smith and Lawrence gained major success with their TV shows WITHOUT the help of Micheal. Affleck and Cage won ACADEMY AWARDS BEFORE they started before they promoted their projects with Micheal. But promoting actors has nothing to do with how much a certain movie emphasizes acting. So therefore, Bay proved Megan right and was completely oblivious to it.

  62. George says:

Also check out this comment Bay made in the interview. ” I’ve been talking to some actors right now about something that’s different. A small dark comedy , a true story, with actors just acting, no effects. I’m done with EFFECTS MOVIES for now. When doing a movie like Transformers ” it can feel like you’re doing three movies at once – which is tiring” A quarter of this comment was the point Fox tried to makebut in a lighthearted way. Bay didn’t just prove her right, he also contradicted himself.

  63. sarah says:

Do you know what I found most telling about Bay’s response? All the examples of “successes” that he points to are male. It seems pretty clear from his words, and his films, that he doesn’t want the female leads in his films to do much except stand there (or run and scream as Fox says) and look pretty. And thats what Fox was saying, and it comes out in many of her interviews: she knows that she is being cast primarily for her looks and not for any talent she may or may not have. Im not a fan of hers, but I respect that she is self-aware enough to see what she is being employed to do, and not creating some huge facade.

  64. Jo 'Mama' Besser says:

Admittedly, I’ve never seen a thing that either of them have done, so please be gentle.

The reason that I have not seen any of Bay’s films, is because I’m not particularly interested in the vittles he’s serving. He seems to have made a lot of films, and save one (THE ISLAND), they’ve all been commercial successes. Critically, that’s a different story. It seems to me that at this point, if an actress chooses to take a Bay role, she does so knowing that it’s a special-effects star vehicle.

That isn’t to say that I agree with his statements about jump-starting the careers of the people he mentioned– I think his brain and mouth were disconnected on that front– but if one were to argue for his side (Lord, don’t strike), I imagine that it would be on these grounds:

-Though his delusions of grandeur are just those, there is no disputing the fact that the guy’s films make serious cash. He’s riding that niche all the way to the bank. And disreputable as many of those efforts seem (the jive-talking robots and crotch shots alone are enough to continue my Bay Virginity Parade), he’s got clout because money talks.

-Though his films are geared towards those who are much younger, Bay is almost twice her age. I’ve worked for some truly horrendous people (including a David Brent clone with whom I worked in MUCH CLOSER quarters), but even if you don’t respect the person (and you don’t have to), you should respect the position and opportunity. Yes, he was catty, and his inelegantly-phrase rejoinder made him sound like a cuckolded tool. However, he’s got age and experience. His response–though not really warranted–would make me think twice if it were directed at me. At the very least, it would make think about my statements more carefully. Because after all, he was only responding in kind.

It seems to me that a lot of these newer starlets believe themselves to be Katherine Hepburns reincarnated, but whenever they believe themselves to be withering, it comes across as more dithering than anything. I’m sure that when you’re starting out, you’ll take a lot of scraps to establish yourself, and the machismo, egotism and rampant rank-pulling must be exhausting. I could imagine that, as with all occupations, you feel like you need to scream just to be heard. But lighthearted jokes always have a kernel of truth.

I guess that I just believe that it’s really inappropriate to air your grievances with an uninvolved third party. From what I can tell, she wasn’t mistreated in some way, so denigrating the product and the one who helped you rise to prominence doesn’t seem assertive to me. I’d actually find it kind of duplicitous.

As for making a career in Hollywood, well, I’ve got a heart of gold, so at least…anyway, I’m not at liberty to say what that takes. So I don’t know, or even think that it’s realistic to be the change that you want to see–not in that industry. But by that turn, don’t buy a duck and get mad because it came with webbed toes.

  65. George says:

In my opinion, Bay took Megan’s comments a little too seriously , when their obviously not offensive. Transformers 2 is all about giant robotic beings and CGI aspects and his films were always more about special effects then acting and he knows this. Bay actually said this himself, but when someone else points it out , he gets offended? Mike’s ego may be big, but it’s too sensitive.

  66. Blair says:

Agreed with george, Megan fox is a babe, everyone seems to get all jelous over everything she does, so what if she has a bit of an attitude, it’s sexy! Bay is way to serious

    Team fox

  67. kayla says:

Megan is absolutely right and Bay took this way too seriously.

  68. mommah says:

what acting?! are you all dumb?! it’s a movie about the transformers! alien robots that turn into vehicles! the human actors are just supporting roles! who cares about them?! it’s the transformers that sold the movie!

  69. Matt says:

I really don’t care who’s “right” I think both are immature. Yes, Fox should be careful not back talk in Hollywood-it only leads to igniting the flame-which is what it has done. But on the flip side Bay didn’t have to fire back. It’s obvious he can’t take someone criticizing his movies-okay fine if you want a jab or two back that’s fine, but make it about Megan, and WTF is this bullcrap about him making Cage, Smith or Lawrence house hold names?

I hope it was just a rant because Nicolas Cage was obviously a house hold name way before Bay “discovered” him. Will Smith? Are you kidding me. Ask anyone prior to Bay’s films the name will smith and you’ll get “Fresh Prince of Bel Air” and rapper.

Maybe Bay could be right about Lawrence and Ben Affleck… wait scratch that on Affleck did he and Matt Damon win an award for best Screenplay? Bay can’t take credit for making Affleck a house hold name. I think we might want to hear Kevin Smith’s opinion when we tell him that Bay made more famous or discovered Ben Affleck… when I believe Ben said it himself that Kevin Smith was the guy that gave him an opportunity. Careful Bay, you don’t want to cross Kevin Smith…well actually Kevin probably wouldn’t care.

Now, I have not met Michael Bay and haven’t worked with him on set, so I don’t know if the whole “Hitler” thing is accurate, but actors can’t expect a director to be in a good mood all the time. I’ve only been on two or three sets working crew and you will get yelled at. Cast will too, it’s just a nature of the business. Time is money, and if you screw up or waste their time, then your wasting money. They shouldn’t call people names or make physical contact such as hitting or anything but they’re not going to be the nicest people on earth all the time. Everyone has bad days, everyone gets stressed out. Being a director is very stressful. But everyone needs to just suck it up-There’s an unwritten rule that you don’t say negative things about another actor, director or producer, etc.-and when you open that rift things like this start happening.
