Kanye West will visit his bigly, unhinged idol at the White House today

Trump Transition

I kind of enjoy the fact that we’ve become desensitized to Kanye West’s whirling dervish act. The man has legit mental health issues, and it’s not helpful for all of us to follow his every move and really analyze what he’s saying and doing. Kanye deleted his social media accounts over the weekend, and People Mag’s sources (probably just Kim) say that Kanye is taking a break because he gets too worked up when he’s going Full MAGA.

“Kanye got to the point where he realized his rants were becoming unhealthy. This is why he deleted his account,” a source tells PEOPLE after the rapper, 41, cleared both his Twitter and Instagram accounts on Friday. “When he gets into these Twitter rants, it’s very difficult for him to stop. It’s like an obsession and it actually affects his life. He knows it’s not healthy, so he wants to take things down a notch.”

The star has also been advised by his wife Kim Kardashian West to take a hiatus for the sake of their relationship and their kids: son Saint, 2½, and daughters North, 5, and 8-month-old Chicago.

“Kim agreed it was time for him to take a social media break. She just wants him to focus on his family for a bit now,” the source says. “He can also focus better on his music and being creative when he avoids social media.”

[From People]

Some people have made the argument that Kanye says controversial sh-t on social media as a way of self-promotion, that it’s all some kind of cycle of promotion for his fashion lines or new music. While there is a level of promotion to what he does, let’s also be clear: Kanye can’t help himself most of the time, and it’s not part of some plan. He is profoundly and proudly ignorant and he suffers from mental illness, and that’s why he does all of this too. Speaking of his ignorance, Kanye is going to the White House to meet Trump:

Kanye West is scheduled to meet with Donald Trump at the White House on Thursday, less than two weeks after the rapper wore a MAGA hat and went on a pro-Trump rant during his Saturday Night Live appearance. The New York Times reports that West will first meet with senior advisor and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner before sitting down with the president. A representative for West confirmed the tentative meeting to the newspaper.

As hinted by a tweet on West’s since-deleted Twitter, the rapper aims to discuss job availability for former convicts with Kushner, who has pushed for prison reform while at the White House, as well as discuss with Trump how to bring manufacturing jobs to West’s native Chicago, the New York Times adds.

West also previously expressed an interest in bringing Colin Kaepernick to the White House to meet Trump, who has continually targeted the quarterback at rallies and on social media, but it remains unlikely that will happen.

What’s funny to me is that every single person involved in this has a different motive. Trump thinks Kanye will “help” him with black voters and make him look cool. Kushner thinks Kanye will be an ally on criminal justice reform. Kanye thinks he’s Jesus and that his ignorance makes him a martyr.

Oh and this meeting is happening today.

He’s probably meeting with Trump to ask if he can rent a room at the White House when Kim divorces him.

  2. Lightpurple says:

And Nagini, the East Coast Kim, will make sure she’s in all the pictures.

The Dotard and Kanye can commiserate about Taylor.

Tom Riddle and Nagini have business interests in private prisons. Hence their “interest” in prison reform.

  3. Swack says:

So is he also going to meet with him on Thurs? Trump is definitely using Kanye to get votes for midterm. Once midterms are over I expect Kanye to be persona non grata at the White House until late 2019/early 2020 when campaigning really gets into full swing.

  4. Darkladi says:

He gon’ go see Massa at the Big House!!!

  5. B n A fn says:

Opioids are kicking in. The last time he visited Don the Con at the TT he said he was on opioids wonder what he will be on today. I bet he will stand there with a glazed look in his eyes, hands crossed looking lost again.

  6. Nanny to the rescue says:

LOL, Taylor Swift’s gonna have hiccups attack tonight!

(BTW, is this phrase used internationally or just in our part of Europe? That when somebody hiccups, we joke that people are talking behind their back or discussing them eagerly?)

  7. abbi says:

It’s like a circus, America we are the biggest joke

  8. BlueSky says:

Yeah Kanye, keep in mind this is the same person who took out a full page ad against the Central Park 5, called Neo Nazis very fine people, and called for the football players practicing peaceful protest against racial injustice and police brutality to be fired or kicked out of the country you willfully clueless a-hole!

  9. ByTheSea says:

You literally have to be a mentally ill black person to support Trump. There is nothing “free” about Kanye in this.

    • boredblond says:

Which leaves everyone to wonder why they think staged pics with kw will influence a group of voters? and why someone who actually lives/knows the employment situation in Chicago isn’t the one given an audience for any real discussion of that subject. Guess trump has ‘fallen in love’ with another unhinged egomaniac..

      • trumptrickle says:

Trump doing “look at my African American” photo ops with Kanye or Rayon and Zirconium is more about looking “totally not a racist” to white swing voters more than expecting many PoC to cross over. They didn’t even try to get African Americans to vote for him to swing Pennsylvania, just tried to talk them out of showing up for the Democratic ticket. Then he had a rally in Hershey after the election and thanked black voters specifically for sitting out the vote.

  10. minx says:

What a pair, they deserve each other.

  11. adastraperaspera says:

So Kanye is called to the WH right after Taylor Swift mobilizes her Swifties to vote. Predictable. I don’t see he and Trump’s problems as being mental–I just think they’re both drugged up and desperate mob lackeys.

  12. me says:

Hmmm I don’t know. It’s just interesting how his “twitter rants and outbursts” always happen when he has a new album or clothing line/shoe to promote. He hasn’t released his new album yet. He’s waiting another month or so…he even said he was going to Africa to record. I think once he’s ready to release the album he’ll be back on twitter ranting again. He is able to control his rants. When he has nothing to promote he is dead silent.

    • ByTheSea says:

I think his team shuts him up (by disabling social media) when he comes close to alienating the people who would actually buy his music. Then – because they figure people have short attentions spans, which they do – when he’s about to release new music or have a project, they let him off leash again. His music was about to drop this time, but he pissed so many people off with the MAGA crap, that they put it off until tempers cool. That’s my hypothesis.

      • me says:

You may be on to something !

      • abbi says:

Good point, and I think his team is basically Kim and Kris K. Kim does the same thing, she always posts a nude photo or her cute kids when she wants to distract from something less flattering.

  13. Amelie says:

Also the anniversary of Kanye’s mom’s death is coming up (November 10). He always seems to get more unhinged around that time which must be very emotional for him.

    • horseandhound says:

I don’t understand why his mom’s death should be any excuse for his madness. many people lose their parents and aren’t excused for their mistakes years after their parent’s death. he’s either mentally ill or he’s using that narrative for some purpose.

    • HK9 says:

It’s not an excuse. The months of September/May & June are hard for me because of the loss of loved ones and I am more emotional around certain dates. He’s human, a stupid human, but human nonetheless and if he isn’t aware of how his mother’s death may be impacting his current behaviour he can’t address it in a constructive way.

    • Amelie says:

Never said it was an excuse! I just noticed that date seems to trigger his mania and I think the two are related. And he is mentally ill, he’s admitted to being diagnosed.

  14. Patty says:

Two peas in a pod. Both are both desperate for approval and to be loved. Trump may be racists but for some reason he still wants black people to love him; it’s weird.

    • BlueSky says:

What’s equally insulting is to think because Kanye likes him, every black person will just fall in line and support him.

I agree, makes no sense to me either.

  15. HK9 says:

He’s being used, but his ego and delusions of grandeur are so large he just can’t see it.

  16. Angela82 says:

Kanye will be the new UN Ambassador.

  17. Pandy says:

Hey Kanye – if Jared starts stirring his tea around and around and around … stay!

  18. EscapedConvent says:

Kanye and trump may as well be the same person. Look at their personalities, their extremely exaggerated opinions of themselves, and their desperate ploys for attention.

They both believe they are geniuses for God’s sake!

  19. Oliviajoy1995 says:

Do you think they’ll talk about how Taylor Swift is now an outed Democrat? I feel as if that is how they are really going to be spending their time.
