Cate Blanchett has got to be one of the hottest actresses around, just recently winning best actress at the Venice film festival for her portrayal of Bob Dylan in I’m Not There. But like many actresses in award winning roles (I’m thinking Charlize Theron in Monster, Nicole Kidman in The Hours) she didn’t just rely on her acting ability, she also used some socks.

She said: “My friend put a sock down my trousers and that kind of helped me walk like a man.

“My husband Andrew wouldn’t come near me. He was utterly repulsed by it.”

The 38-year-old star - who has been married to writer Andrew Upton for 10 years - previously revealed she flattened her bosoms for the role.

She said: “I had to strap those breasts down and just go for it!”

You know, it doesn’t surprise me at all that her husband found it kind of gross. That combined with the flattened breasts would have turned most men off, and the ones that get turned on by it probably aren’t husband material!

Cate’s also getting excited about another project – The Hobbit. After the huge success of the Lord Of The Rings trilogy, there has been endless talk about making the prequel into a film. She says she’d love to do it, jumping on the bandwagon the other LOTR actors Orlando Bloom and Viggo Mortensen. But, she’s only interested if Peter Jackson is the director, and he’s not talking to New Line Cinemas after they ripped him off of profits from the LOTR trilogy. So, Tolkien fans like myself, don’t get too excited just yet, but maybe we’re one step closer.
