Paris Jackson seemed totally fine after a brief hospitalization this weekend

Paris Jackson and boyfriend Gabriel Glenn all smiles after Paris slams the Media for "bullshit" suicide report

Over the weekend, TMZ claimed that Paris Jackson had self-harmed to the point where an ambulance was called for her and she was put on a 5150 psych hold. Except very little of that was true. An ambulance was called for Paris and she was briefly hospitalized, but as soon as she got out of the hospital, she and her boyfriend were pap-strolling around LA. She looked fine. I have no idea what happened.

Paris Jackson was spotted out and about in good spirits on Saturday following her hospitalization. Jackson, 20, smiled while driving around Los Angeles with Gabriel Glenn, her boyfriend and The Soundflowers bandmate. The pair went to the movies in Universal City and grabbed dinner at KFC, a source tells PEOPLE. At one point during a stroll, Jackson smiled in her boyfriend’s direction.

Jackson’s outing came shortly after she denied a report that she had attempted suicide.

“Paris had an accident this morning that required medical treatment,” a source told PEOPLE. “She is currently resting at home and doing fine.”

Earlier Saturday, TMZ reported that the daughter of the late Michael Jackson was placed on a 5150 hold following a hospitalization for a suicide attempt. (Police, social workers and other mental health professionals have the authority to use a 5150 hold if a person is considered a danger to themselves or others or is gravely disabled.) Reps for Paris and the Jackson Estate couldn’t be reached immediately for comment, but Paris slammed TMZ’s report via Twitter, writing, “f— you you f— liars.”

My thought when I saw Paris’s tweet and heard that an ambulance was called for her was that maybe she had a kitchen accident, like she burned herself or cut herself as she was cooking? But in the photos, she looked totally fine – no burns, no cuts. Not that any of this is my business – everyone has a right to their private medical sh-t. But it’s rare that TMZ gets it SO wrong. Maybe we’ll never know. Also: her boyfriend reminds me a bit of Frances Bean Cobain’s first husband. Similar vibe.

So mysterious. I can’t think she really attempted suicide or the 5150 hold would have kept her in the hospital for longer than a few hours, wouldn’t it? I’m sure she’s in mental pain, regardless. I hope she has friends who are looking out for her best interests.

    • MrsBanjo says:

A 5150 is an involuntary 72-hour hold, so unless that hospital is totally fine with releasing someone so soon, which isn’t even enough time for full evaluations, it’s more likely that TMZ got this way wrong.

She could have gone too deep. Speaking from totally not experience, you f*ck up and hit a vein, then there is blood everywhere and people tend to freak out. I had 17 stitches early one morning and was out and about at the mall the same afternoon. You wouldn’t be able to see it in long sleeves, so the “no cuts no burns” comment is weird to me. It’s not too far of a reach to think the documentary drama has chucked a giant wrench into her life and she’s dropped back to self harm. Ime, 5150 holds don’t happen often if you have a long and well documented history of self harm. They know you’re probably not going to purposely kill yourself.

Anyway, i hope she gets treatment. I just did (another) stint at a long term facility back in September/October. It’s hard to quit and will come back to haunt you for years.

@Broodytrudy, I ageee with everything you said. I’m sorry self harm has its firm grip on you, I know second hand how hard it is to quit. I really wish you all the best.
And I was reading this article and the whole time thinking…well Paris has so much of her body covered up, she could’ve cut anywhere that’s covered up. I hope not though.

    • Olive says:

exactly my thought – in my self-harm days i once went too deep and needed to go to the hospital for 20 stitches. i was back to normal life the next day – people who self harm are often skilled in looking totally normal since they’re used to hiding things, both literal and metaphorically. her wrists and arms are hidden in that sweatshirt, any injuries could very well be covered up. i lived in long sleeves back then too.

I really feel sorry for her. I think she’s still trying to figure out her place in the world. I don’t think she has people around her that look out for her best interest.

I somehow feel sorry for her too, even though she’s a rich girl.
It’s not 100% clear what happened with her this weekend, but that is another concern with the relatives of famous abusive men being dragged into their behavior. But she clearly isn’t siding with her father’s victims, and is following in the rest of her relatives’ footsteps.

My first thought was drugs when I read this. I’m sure it’s tremendously painful to have all your dad’s crimes brought to light in such a concrete and irrefutable way. There is no way to deny the facts at this point and she has probably denied them for years for her own survival/ability to cope.

    • Heather says:

You’re a much better person than I am. My first thought was publicity for the poor maligned Jackson kids after the Leaving Neverland documentary to get the response she wanted. But I do hope she is okay.

  5. jules says:

I don’t know, is she really ok after everything? This looks like an intentional pap stroll to try to convince us, but I’m not convinced.

  6. Valiantly Varnished says:

Whatever it was it’s her personal business and I hope she’s okay.

  7. CharliePenn says:

She’s so beautiful. I have no idea what happened but I know from experience that self harm is easily hidden. From ages 13-14 I was frighteningly proficient at hiding it. I am thankful all the time that I was able to stop. To this day, in my 30s, the allure of it is still there when I’m up against a wall with anxiety. It stays with you for a long time, if not forever, once you go down that road.
I can see how the current situation would make her get extreme with it, if it is her go-to coping mechanism. This is all speculation. I do hope she can be well. She didn’t ask for any of this and she’s obsessed with fame because of how she was raised and whom she was raised by. I know she’s an adult but I do see her as a victim and I hope she can make her way out of the woods and end up with a happier life.

TMZ needs to stop thinking it has a right to “expose” why a public figure went to the hospital (or the contents of a divorce, or anything really). It’s known they pay people for information, but enough is enough already.

  9. noway says:

I feel bad for her. I mean her father who she seemed to love basically killed himself, even if unintentionally. She was moved around being raised by her grandmother and cousin as her grandmother was getting too old, and then this comes out about her father. It’s just a lot to go through, and she really had nothing to do with it. It’s not like she asked to be Michael Jackson’s daughter. Hope she gets through it all ok. I agree she hasn’t really gone after the best career paths, but she’s young and doesn’t have great role models. It’s funny everyone has pity for the kids, but once they grow up it’s all on them now, and Paris is the perfect example of the hardships of growing up like she did. It’s amazing she doesn’t have bigger issues. On a positive note, she has the most beautiful eyes.

The police confirmed a call about a potential suicide in her neighbourhood. That’s probably what TMZ is basing their report on. It is possible the person who called 911 misunderstood what they saw. Also possible I suppose that it was a coincidence and the call was a different incident in her neighbourhood.

The hipster boyfriend is wearing a Nirvana shirt. Sigh.
