So now it’s been established – John Mayer has something to do with Jessica Simpson and Tony Romo’s split. But what was his involvement? Naughty texts? A genuine desire to rekindle their old passion? Or just another Mayer ego trip? A case could made for any of those, in my opinion. According to multiple sources, John and Jessica had reconnected over the past few months, and Tony Romo was pretty clueless about it. Now, I don’t think Jess was cheating on Romo, and I don’t think Mayer really cares about Jessica for real. So I suspect they’re back to being friendly, and Mayer probably wants some of Jessica’s rebound sex. Have you noticed John “I Will Give Quotes To Anyone About Anything” Mayer hasn’t come out and said something about Jessica? That’s what makes me believe this report from In Touch. He’s playing it close to the vest because he wants some sex:
Since John and Jessica broke up in June 2007 – John continued to text her. “A few weeks he even wrote a song for her,” a confidante tells In Touch. “Jessica liked the attention from John because she never really got over him.”
Althought John kept sending flirty messages, it wasn’t reciprocated by Jessica. “She stayed true to Tony, believing he was the one,” the confidante explains. “She truly loves him.”
[Jessica] became frustrated when she realized Tony wasn’t going to marry her. “It really bothered her,” the confidante adds.
While Jessica is “a real mess” over Tony, “deep down, she realizes it probably wasn’t meant to be,” the confidante says.
“A lot of people blamed Tony’s flirtatious ways and superstitions about his football career as the cause for the split… but Jessica really hurt her chances of being his wife by staying in touch with John. There’s no question that fed into the insecurity and lack of commitment Tony felt about their relationship.”
Jessica will only date [John Mayer] on one condition – that he won’t just treat her as “a sex object.. She wants a real boyfriend who will commit.”
“John thinks there’s still a lot of unfinished business between them,” a friend adds.

“Unfinished business” in his pants. I really doubt John cares about poor Jessica’s mental health or anything, he just likes boobs. But if Jessica went into a rebound fling with John, would she know well enough to keep her emotions out of it? Or would she be all “Marry me!” after two dates? If Jessica goes into it with her eyes wide open… well, she could have some fun with Mayer, I guess. He’s not my cup of tea, but he’s got something these girls like.

As cliqued as it sounds, I hope Jessica Simpson finds happiness. Being dumped on your birthday (twice even) really sucks.

If I were Jessie I would turn into one of those legendary Hollywood women who toys with younger men. Why not? There’s plenty who would latch onto her for the publicity. She could have a little fun, be in control of the relationships and stop worrying about putting a ring on her finger.
I actually find NOTHING wrong with a women admitting that she wants a committed, married life, at least that’s honest, but in Jessie’s case I think she needs a period of time in her life when she’s just out for fun! She married Nick Lachey after an off and on relationship and it ended fairly quick. She’s gone through the same on and off folly with Mayer and Romo. Enough with these guys Jess. It’s time for you to be the one who decides what works and what doesn’t.
And,she needs to tell her Papa to look the other way and shove it!

Lol, I guess John is missing the spotlight now that he and Jennifer have been split for a few months. He’s most likely dying to be in the headlines so what better way than to hook up with Jessica again. My guess is that Jessica will take the bait now that her ego has suffered another blow. I actually liked Mayer at one point (when he first came on the scene before he was this lame womanizer cheese dick), but he is definitely only a rebound sex kinda guy and even then I would definitely protect myself. It’s probably not even worth it, given how *into* himself he is. ;o) But Jess definitely seems like the type to not be able to put him in that category and will probably get hurt by him again.

It does seem likely that he had contact with her before the split. She was probably on thin ice with Romo, but made the classic mistake of contacting an ex during troubled times, as innocent as it probably was. Who hasn’t done that.
I guess that’s all Romo needed to dump her without feeling guilty. It’s always easier to dump someone when you’re pissed.

I think she said it herself once somewhere (of course she did, she can’t keep her mouth shut): Her style reflects the man she’s with. It appears then that John made her feel like a bronzed, libidinous glamazon whose god-given tits were too impressive not to share. She looks sort of sad and scared though, doesn’t she?
