The past week, it’s seemed like someone has been gunning for Jennifer Aniston. Last week’s Us Weekly’s cover story about why Bradley Cooper chose Renee Zellweger over Jennifer Aniston was a new low – a tabloid story told from the perspective of Team Renee. Us Weekly has been releasing parts of the cover story for the past week, including yesterday’s piece about Jennifer only dating famous men who could help her get headlines. What has caused this rapid anti-Aniston backlash? Usually these are the tabloids that have glowing stories about Jennifer’s hair, figure, et cetera. I don’t have a good theory for the turnaround… other than the old stand-by, that this is a version of Jennifer that somehow sells magazines.
But perhaps someone is really, truly gunning for her. Radar has put this story up which is yet another anti-Aniston hit piece. It’s all about Jennifer’s alleged pettiness towards Tina Fey and their competing Emmy nominations for best female comedic guest star. Tina is up for the award for her take on Gov. Sarah Palin on Saturday Night Live. Jennifer is up for the award for her guest appearance on 30 Rock, in a role written in part by Tina Fey. According to Radar, Tina Fey is a shoo-in for the award (which I’ll buy) and Jennifer is really pissed because she “doesn’t deal with competition well, she likes to be the top dog” and she’s afraid Tina will “out shine” her come Emmy night:
Jen Aniston was delighted when she was nominated for an Emmy for her guest appearance on 30 Rock.
However, she’s up against her close friend Tina Fey, whose hilarious spoof of Sarah Palin on SNL is said to be the shoo-in for the award.
Tellingly, Jen didn’t call Tina to congratulate her on the nomination – and insiders say their friendship has been strained by the competition.
“Jen was so excited to be nominated, she’s been talking about it for months,” an insider tells radaronline. “But she’s really disappointed to be going up against Tina. She realizes it’s going to be near to impossible to win now.”
“Jen doesn’t deal with competition well, she likes to be the top dog. She’s not happy that Tina is likely to out shine her on the night. Jen and Tina used to be really good friends, they used to talk at least every week, but now they hardly talk at all.”
“Tina hasn’t got a problem at all with being up against Jen but she is kind of put out by Jen’s attitude towards her now. She just can’t understand why Jen would be giving her the cold shoulder over something so trivial.”

Here’s a little piece of Emmy trivia – unless they’ve changed the rules this year, the guest star Emmys are handed out on the night they give the technical Emmy awards, which is usually a few days before the big primetime Emmy show. So Radar’s source has Aniston acting pissy because Tina Fey will outshine her at an award show that features Kathy Griffin, The Dog Whisperer, and the make-up department of How I Met Your Mother. I think the technical Emmys are praying that The Dog Whisperer confirms, and if Aniston deigns to appear, some poor producer will probably wet their pants.

If Tina didn’t call her, then what is the big deal? Actually, what is the big deal either way?? Petty BS story trying to stir up controversy.
This article smells of bullshit, apart from working together on 30rock i had never hear anything about aniston and fey being best buddies and talking to each other everyweek like this article claims; i doubt they are even in the same social circle or even on a level more than good working relationship.
Are you sure they are given out at the technical Emmys? I don’t remember it being that way. I bet if Tina Fey and Jennifer Aniston both want to be there they would put it on the prime time award show to get better ratings.
Like or not, she does have a lot of fans and has captured national attention (or was forced into it by the tabloids). They would tune in to see her.
Sigh. I seriously hope when I come back from class in the afternoon, the 40 comments on here do not end up being along the lines of:

I don’t think they will just put it on tv just because Aniston and Fey are going to show up. Last year Tom Hanks ,James Gandolfini and Cynthia Nixon when and they did not put them in the primetime ones , and I think Hanks is a bigger star then Aniston and Fey.
I think they are handed at the Creative arts Emmy’s. Because those are the ones that Kathy Griffin and Dog show get nominated.

US Weekly is losing credibility big-time with these silly made-up stories. Yes, Aniston stories sell magazines, but they’re taking it too far.
I used to think of US Weekly as the equivalent of People, but now it seems they’ve fallen to the tabloid level of Star or National Enquirer.

i am no fan of Aniston but it is clear that she has pissed off the wrong person. this is relentless. Huvane is trying his best to float false rumors about her dating Butler but it ain’t working. the hits are coming too hard and fast.
that said, CB runs too many Aniston stories IMO. there is much more interesting gossip out there.
