Katie Holmes: 3-year-old Suri is my fashion inspiration

Does anyone else get the feeling that whatever spark, whatever personality, whatever life force Katie Holmes once had somehow got transferred to Suri? That’s what I think whenever I see pictures of Katie looking like a zombie – which is pretty much every time she’s been photographed the past two years. Katie’s eyes always look glazed, like she’s been spiritually lobotomized, while Suri has such an excess of personality, she just sparkles with her adorable girly-girl style, even donning lipstick and kitten heels last week.

So Katie had it in her little head that she had enough style to start her own clothing line with her friend Jeanne Yang. While I’ve always found Katie’s fashion sense… let’s say “debatable”, she took the line seriously and she’s even worn a few of her own pieces. Now Katie has given a little mini-interview to Britain’s Sun about her “dream” to be in fashion, and how Suri is her “inspiration”.

KATIE HOLMES has revealed her fashion inspiration… daughter SURI.

TOM CRUISE’s wife has just launched her own line with celebrity stylist JEANNE YANG and says it’s all down to her little girl.

Katie told The Sun: “It has been my dream forever to be in fashion and I’m truly inspired by my daughter Suri.”

“She just loves dressing up so I decided to launch this exciting venture with Jeanne.”

Katie also assured film fans that her new job won’t stop her making movies.

She added: “This won’t interfere with my first passion – acting. I’ve just finished a movie this summer which I am as proud of as I am this collection.”

[From The Sun]

Oh, Katie. I would rather buy clothing designed by Suri, rather than clothing inspired by Suri. I also find Katie’s reasoning a little sketchy – if she’s doing it because Suri loves fashion so much, why not design children’s clothes? Why “design” a line of women’s clothes inspired by Suri? And if Suri is so inspiring, why does Katie still walk around day after day in her sketchy zombie gear?

  1. Diablo says:

TOM CRUISE IS NOT SURI’S FATHER, HE IS GAY!!!

  2. Livia says:

You know, it IS possible to be gay and still have biological children – just not necessarily through conventional methods.

  3. Mairead says:

@ Diablo, um, random? Besides the two things aren’t mutually exclusive. All i’ll say on the matter is that girl looks like a Mapother.

Anyway, what Hollywood type in all honesty gives The Sun an interview? I mean, surely only fame-hungry slappers who’ve slept with Premiership footballers, random popstars, soap actors and Jack Tweed or misery-of-the-week victims go near that hamster-cage fodder?

  4. Tess says:

Sorry, but I detect an unsavory whiff of sexualizing this very adorable child.

  5. bored says:

Suri is kind of thin. I hope it’s natural.

  6. Kris says:

I LOVE Suri’s B!@ch face as Tom is once again carrying her like a baby.. At least Katie seems to be making progress in letting Suri grow and become her own person and not just an accessory as Tom continues to remain clueless.

  7. Kris says:

Sorry one more thing.. After looking at the pics I noticed something.. Who in their right mind carries a little girl like that when they are wearing a dress and you have a bunch of strangers snapping pics. Oh yeah Tom Cruise does. Idiot.

  8. princess pea says:

Yeah, if Suri was the inspiration I would think children’s clothes are more appropriate.

And I love the comment about how if she is so inspired to be fashionable by her daughter… why is she always dressed so schlubby? If Suri is inspiring you, shouldn’t you be out in party dresses every. single. day?

  9. goaheadandyellatme... says:

I think that they have to carry her a lot for safety purposes…too many people crowding around them at all times. At 3 it begins to get harder to carry them, and they for sure want to be facing out, so perhaps thats just the most comfortable way that they have worked out. I can’t believe that I am defending a Cruise…yuck. But we have to really stop with the nit picking on EVERY part of his life….these comments show that things have really gone overboard…BTW, Suri is not thin for a 3 yo…she looks just right.

  10. Just a Poster says:

Well, she does like to sprint away from them.. perhaps he is carrying her like that because she was wiggily?

Clothing designed by Suri.. I can see that happening.. pimp that baby out some more!

I too love her bitchface! I have to wonder if she is more mature than her parents LOL

Am I the only one who smells trouble, like Paris Hilton trouble from this kid? LOL

  11. Ameia says:

Scientologists believe children are undeveloped, but adults.
Allusions to that have slipped out of Kate’s mouth more than once – this fashion thing is another.
I think Suri is a terror, not a sweet child. We’ll see.

  12. Sue says:

The harem pants and the cross-hatched top with pencil thin skirt are two KH designs I remember, and I think both were very unattractive. I hope she does not give up her day job; I don’t think this fashion career has a future.

  13. raven says:

YOu may have something there, Kaiser. Suri does look like she sucked all the energy out of her mother.

  14. mia says:

Would someone pleeeze get that child a hair barrette or atleast a hairpin???

  15. Ellie says:

Ugh when are these two going to call it quits? Or maybe Katie isn’t leaving him because Tom is threatening to keep Suri, the way he kept the children after his divorce with Nicole Kidman. Nicole Kidman looked a lot like Katie while she was with Tom–withdrawn and lacking personality.

  16. 4Real says:

I can only imagine how controlling Tom is as a dad, not to mention how he’ll be when Suri gets older. It’s one family that gives off a creepy vibe. I can’t put my finger on it but something’s not real. It’s all posing for pictures and shallow. Very little warmth between family members.
