Nicole Kidman’s taut, unmoving face: Botox or tight hair?

nicole kidman 071009

Nicole Kidman made a red carpet appearance last night as the face (or wrist) of Omega. Nicole donned a figure-hugging, long-sleeve, mandarin-collar black dress with a sexy front slit. I actually love the dress – Nicole wears a lot of black, but she usually tries different silhouettes with it, which is cool. What I didn’t like? Whatever is going on with Nicole’s face. Do you think we’re the only ones to notice how… tight her face looks? Although Nicole has always said she’s all-natural, most people claim (and have claimed for awhile) that she is doing something really hardcore with her face. Like, constant Botoxing or really unnatural-looking plastic surgery. The Daily Mail has a theory for last night’s tight, waxy appearance too – they think Nicole’s hair may just be really, really tight:

She continues to deny claims she uses Botox, but Nicole Kidman opted for another trick for ironing out unwanted wrinkles last night – the Croydon Facelift.

The pencil-thin Oscar-winning actress modelled the infamous hairstyle at a party held at the Omega flagship store in New York.

Her ginger mane was tied back so tightly back [sic] that the features on her face were pulled even more tautly than usual.

The term Croydon Facelift was coined several years ago – around the time ‘chavs’ began to emerge – and Little Britain’s Vicky Pollard and Catherine Tate’s teen Lauren are both fans. However, the look is also occasionally popular among the A-list, with Kate Moss, Sienna Miller and Victoria Beckham all parading the distinctive ponytail in recent times.

Nicole has always maintained that her remarkably youthful appearance is ‘completely natural’.

The 42-year-old mother of Sunday Rose has said: ‘I have nothing in my face or anything.’

But many beg to differ, including Dr Martin Braun, who runs the biggest Botox clinic in Canada. He famously told a told a conference of medical experts in 2008 that Nicole was so ‘over-Botoxed’ she was giving the industry a bad name.

[From the Daily Mail]

Well, I do think Nicole’s penchant for really tight hairstyles can be partially blamed for her “severe” look at times. But! I’m pretty sure (like 99% positive) that Nicole is Botoxing the hell out of her face. In the pictures where she’s smiling, her face looks so tight she’s about to wince in pain. Her forehead is like marble. It’s such a shame too – I loved Nicole back in the day, she was so gorgeous. Oh well. At least she’s back to red hair – that blonde style she had for too long was bumming me out.

Here’s Nicole at the Omega party last night in New York City. Images thanks to WENN.com .

That’s a fake fall of hair.

If she gets anymore fillers, she will explode. Can’t wait to see Kidman at 60.

Nicole appears asexuall. I can’t imagine men or women to be attracted to her.
    She doesn’t look real.

She used to be so beautiful. She had a very sweet face, but she’s screwed it all up. Her lips look so bizarre when she smiles. I remember seeing one picture where her upper lip looked like it was going to burst. She used to have darling little lips. I don’t know why women thing they need to have big, full lips to be sexy. In fact, I have big lips, and it took me a while to grow into them. They took over my face when I was little, lol.

but wouldn’t all that “tightening” with the hair it would just backfire and then cause her to actually get a facelift . the skin could just sag eventually .

What is Nicole’s definition of natural? Her compulsive lying is more disturbing than her face!

    eeech, definitely botox.
I wonder if they CGI’d the nose wiggle in Bewitched. Seems like she would crack.
Maybe she needs a lesson from The Who, “too much of anything is too much…”

Praise St. Angie – GAAAHH! That picture of Nicole’s lip roll is disgusting. That lip should get its own horror film.

One thing that may lean it towards the hair pulling version of a facelift is the fact it looks like her natural hairline is receding back ala Queen Elizabeth (not the current!). Its one of the dangers to girls who wear ponytails all the time – yes, its an easy hairstyle. But over time your get a MUCH larger forehead.

On the other hand, its not like the woman is really a star anymore – does it MATTER what she has done to her face? The only time its seen is at parties.

A softer hair style would be so much more suitable for her. Cover up the forehead rather than emphasize it. What about a bob, with some of her trademark ringlets? This red color is nice- like the article says, thank god that pale, ice blond color is gone.

I’m don’t understand. How can you tell if a person’s face is stiff or unmoving from a still picture? I could see if it was a video… I’m confused…

A La Tina Fey’s interview. LOL
    SO true in NK’s case!
And so unnecessary;she’s naturally pretty-shoulda let it be,already.

I still remember when she was a fresh-faced, curly-haired ginger beauty. A darling, au naturale kind of actress.

    Nowadays, she’s looking positively embalmed.

Glad she’s stopped with the ice blond look though.

Mia – whatever it is you want us to eat can no doubt be cooked on her teflon face. She WAS beautiful, yeah. Now she’s like a caricature. So sad, and so unnecessary, she used to be GORGEOUS. :(

  24. TwinkleToes says:

Nicole Kidman was never a beauty. Average at best. The only person other than her who tried to totally erase what they really are is Michael Jackson.
She has erased her freckles, frizzy red hair, shallow cheekbones and nose to look like a Grace Kelly type. Never gonna happen. She should get some hair transplants on her hairline to decrease that huge forehead. Everything about her screams, I HATE MYSELF!

I can’t say she doesn’t look pretty, and younger than 42– but the overall effect is awfully . . . strange. Especially when you consider the woman in Dead Calm, who would not have naturally aged into this face. Kidman honestly appears waxen in these photos– I’m interested to see what her face looks like when / if it moves!

    Kidman as Michael Jackson-lite.

Her natural freckles, ginger curls—even the frizz—were full of life compared to her current look, a freaky, Aussie homage to MJ.

Give it up Nicole. So what if your hair is gray and you’re aging.

I have the same coloring as Ms. Kidman and not a wrinkle on my face other than a few laugh lines around my eyes. I’ve never had botox and I’m 55 years of age. Although it appears she may have had her lips done at one time, she, like me,has not been able to spend much time in the sun because of her coloring.
She is a classic beauty and has the most perfect statuesque body. I would just like to see her wear her hair less severe.

Why do they lie? Does she honestly think she can get away with saying she’s had nothing done to her face when it’s so obvious as to make her lie a blatant one? She used to be beautiful, circa movies like Dead Calm, Malice and even Moulin Rouge and now… sigh.
