Stick a fork in it: Jon & Kate finale airs on Monday

“Jon & Kate Plus 8” is over forever. The series finale will be aired this Monday, and the former couple even shares a final interview together. The episode focuses on them each trying to make the transition into single parenthood, and frankly most of it sounds like old news. Kate takes the kids to a dairy farm and Jon takes them to a fire station. We saw pictures of Jon and the kids with the firemen this past summer, so even though it’s just airing now, most of it is old news that’s already been reported on the internet. It will be fun to watch Jon and Kate squirm on that infamous couch though.

Monday marks the end of TLC’s Jon and Kate Plus 8. What can fans expect?

During the final hour, the estranged parents of young twins and sextuplets will venture on separate outings with the kids. Jon, 32, takes the kids to a fire station near the family home in Wernersville, Pa., while Kate, 34, brings them to local dairy farm.

Individually, Jon and Kate reflect on what the past has meant and what the future might hold.

In September, TLC made the shocking announcement that as of Nov. 2, Jon would no longer appear on the reality series and that the program would be re-titled Kate Plus 8.

But the plan got axed after Jon objected to his kids appearing on TV, saying that it was hurting them.

“Kate Plus 8 is not in production,” TLC spokeswoman Laurie Goldberg said Thursday. “We are focusing on the launch of Kate’s new series in early spring.” No other details were available.

Jon and Kate Plus 8 — which first debuted on April 16, 2007 — experienced a ratings spike earlier this year, thanks to the chaotic personal lives of its main stars.

The fifth season premiere drew a record 9.8 million viewers, but ratings began to dip significantly. A pair of episodes premiering earlier this week averaged 2.1 million viewers.

I wonder how TLC is going to portray Jon in the episode. I mean the guy is suing them, claiming that THEY damaged his reputation (and thus career). How rich. Supposedly TLC is the reason no one else will work with Jon. Not that he’s an epic douche who pals around with Michael Lohan, seemingly neglects his responsibility to his kids, and tries to get up any skirt he can. It’s hard to imagine how TLC could possible frame the guy in a positive, “I’m trying to be a good dad” light. Especially considering the looks on his face at the firehouse. He just looked so pissed to even be there. What camera angle can disguise that?

I do, however, hope for at least a little bit of sniping between Jon and Kate during their last interview. But something tells me we won’t see it, since everyone’s so lawyer-happy. It’s sad to witness the destruction of a family – but at least it seems like we won’t be watching as much of it from now on.

    It’s a great first step – bravo, TLC. Now can we find a way for these morons to stay out of the media in general?

    That would be a fantastic one!!

    damn he got huge.

  8. FLO says:

    This can’t end soon enough. These 2 morons have psychologically ruined their children for life. I hope the money was worth it.

  9. Squirtle says:

    I’ve watched the show from the beginning too and I’m sad to see it go. I would have liked to watch just “Kate plus 8”. I think that Kate is more articulate in the interviews and she’s more interesting to watch than Jon. She’s always doing fun things with the kids and she seems like she genuinely loves them. I’ve always liked her even though she was a BITCH to Jon but looking back now I’m pretty sure he deserved some of it, maybe not ALL, but some for sure…

  10. LolaBella says:

    My hope with the demise of this show is that those beautiful kids will have some sort of normalcy in their lives now that their parents’ cash cow is dead. I can only hope that they all turn out okay.

  11. Judy says:

    No more Jon and Kate was great news until I read further and saw that Kate will have her own show in the spring. OMG, PLEASE don’t subject us to another vehicle allowing her to plaster her face everywhere. Feeling nauseous.

  17. boo says:

    OMG! Who is going to pay for Kate’s Starbucks ????

    Who is going to pay for the gas her V8, 50K Toyota eats??

    Who is going to pay for her hair, mani/pedis??

    Man those kids are selfish to pull the plug on those jacka$$es.

  18. katie says:

    Did anyone else notice that his t-shirt says Lies Lies Lies in that lemonade photo? WTF is that supposed to mean? Is he making some kind of statement? i know its unoriginal and predictable to say, but he really is just oozing with douche.

  19. Anastasia says:

    Fun to watch?

    Geez, I’d rather run hot piano wire through both eyeballs than watch that show. Exploitative crap.

  20. Rebecca says:

    Good riddance. Now maybe they can go back to parenting their kids instead of doing tv interviews, book tours, public appearances, etc.

  21. Mary Jones says:

    If Kate is getting her own show, then we still have to deal with her ugly mug on the TV. TLC should cut all ties with this family so they can fade into obscurity.

  22. abby says:

    @boo
    Uhh what about jon’s m5 (I think I saw a pic of him driving one) and the car he bought his gf, and all his Ed Hardy douchewear?
    Don’t make it seem like Kate is the only selfish one.

  24. bella says:

    And don’t forget Jon’s NYC bachelor pad (when there’s a perfectly good house in PA they’re still making payments on because it hasn’t sold yet) and bar tabs!

  25. Maritza says:

    Life goes on, they will each find another venue to support their needs and the children will be perfectly fine.

  26. taya says:

    Looks like Kate is going to have to either adopt some Asian baby or trap another idiot into purposely having another set of multiples. I go for the latter. This hag cannot be out of the limelight for too long.

  27. jbird says:

    I like Kate, and Boo, Jon blows way more money than Kate, way more, plus kate has personal income from books, not just the show, Jon on the other hand is useless, so back off kates coffee and mani’s and pedi’s at least she is not buying ho’s cars, buying drugs alcohol and ed hardy clothing? Uh hello????

  28. jbird says:

    right Bella and his sporst cars that only seat 2, no room for the kids, at least Kate’s gas guzzler can hold the children!!!!!!!

  29. filthy cute says:

    I hope it’s speedballs and bankruptcy for these two. Pigs.

  30. Goddess711 says:

    Hope she’s smart enough to lay low while the divorce plays out. After he’s no longer eligible to receive all the money he gets for being a douchebag she can go out and be great. Go Kate!

  31. original kate says:

    our long national nightmare is over.

  32. lola lola says:

    Can’t they just change it to “Eight is Enough” and film it with the kids and a nanny? Those two douches need to ride into the sunset.

  33. RealityJunkie says:

    Jon = disappointment
    Kate = train wreck
    Kids = jury still out

    TLC is the biggest loser in this equation. So much for the slice of life reality they claimed to be “capturing” – they are media whores who scripted so much of this past year, keeping the break-up a secret, painting Kate as a victim just trying to put food on the table, and all but showing up in divorce court to script the outcome of that drama. TLC is rapidly becoming the new VH1 of reality television.

  34. GOMO1313 says:

    Not soon enough for me. I used to watch faithfully and enjoyed the children only and I will miss them. But for their welfare this is the best thing to get them out of the limelight, I don’t believe J & K will be gone. They will manage to put their mugs in the news regularly as they really do believe they are celebrities. They will drag out their 15 min of fame to satisfy their egos. Phew!

  35. Matt says:

    I can’t believe somebody would leave the words Kate and articulate in the same sentence. She can’t do an interview without saying “um” a few times a sentence. She acted like a complete bitch in the last episode just like she did in the other episodes. Glad to see it’s done!! Hope she’s done with it!! At least as far as TV goes.

  36. Deb says:

    jon’s shirt says it all, he lies,lies,lies,lies. Doesn’t that make about 4 that we know of?? girlfriends that is. Oh and yes,he’s sooo worried about his kids doing the show. Is that why he said, “the fire station was a good place to take them, he’d have a lot of babysitters-while he took care of the lemonade stand”.(he was just standing there,doing nothing, no one was buying any). All the other times he was on the cell phone, or talking with crowds, and the kids were alone. He’s just not a fit parent. Kate shoulders all the responsibility. She’s the one with the level head. He’s a noncompusmentus. He deserves a long lonley life, seeing he was so anxious to get rid of them and is now- his words- “I feel so FREE”. Karma will prevail, his kids will say the same of him someday, when they are old enough to know that he said that and felt that way about them. How would jon have felt if his father had deserted him and then said, now at last I feel free.

  37. Matt says:

    There are a lot of people much worse than these two so I don’t think it’s fair to bash them as parents. As far as Jon goes. He made a mistake, got married too young, had kids too young and missed his 20’s. And Kate didn’t help things by being a bitch all the time. Unfortunately, you do have to step up to the plate in that situation and be there for your kids and he just evidently doesn’t really want to be too much of a part of being a parent right now. Too bad for the kids. Don’t get me wrong, neither one of them are great parents but they are certainly not the worst a kid can have.
