Kanye West has had such a douche-filled year, he decided to do something to alleviate the swarm of bad press. Kanye and his girlfriend Amber Rose volunteered at a Los Angeles homeless shelter over the holidays, and spent several hours serving lunch. Will this help? Probably. It made me stop and rethink Kanye and whether or not we were too harsh on him throughout the year. Granted, he made some supremely dumb, egotistical, crazy moves. But he’s not the devil. Here’s more about Kanye and Amber’s smart move:
Kanye West is ready to move back into the spotlight in a positive way. The Grammy Award winning rapper spread holiday cheer this weekend when he and his girlfriend Amber Rose volunteered their services to the Los Angeles Mission.
West and Rose donated their time to serve lunch to the homeless the day after Christmas (Dec. 26). The non profit organization has been assisting the homeless in the city’s “Skid Row” district for over 70 years.
“It’s just important [to give back] when you’re very blessed,” West said of volunteering. “[It's nice] to spread your blessings and take time out, especially during the holidays, to appreciate people who never get that appreciation. It makes me feel really good to come out here, [with] my family, and I just thank y’all [the Los Angeles Mission] for allowing us to be apart of this.”

Lots of celebrities work with the LA Mission, and many volunteer around the holidays, but homelessness is still an epidemic, especially in larger cities. I hope Kanye keeps up his involvement, because they need him. I really think Kanye has taken the criticism to heart – for the past several months, he’s been very, very low-key, very few red carpets, very few all-caps blog rants, very few douchey interviews about how great he is. While I don’t think Kanye did end up going into rehab, I do think he’s taken a good hard look at himself and he’s trying to become a better man. Maybe I’m just on old softie, but I want Kanye to come back! He was fun sometimes!

I don’t think that anybody should be impressed. Kanye West is doing this (and publicizing it) in an attempt to improve his deservedly awful public image and lessen media criticism.
So, besides being an obnoxious imbecile, now he is exploiting the poor for promotional purposes, by serving them lunch FOR ONE MISERABLE DAY.
Oh my God, he is soooooo generous! And so very blessed. And important. And unique. And above everybody else but God. Kneel down and be grateful for his magnanimity, mortals!

It didn’t mention that he contributed any money or anything to the LA Mission. I bet he didn’t even buy any of the food that was served.

I’m surprisd even if this were for publicity i didnt think Kanye would spend the holidays helping others-i would see him more at home stroking his ego. he maybe annoyng but if hes trying to get publicity i’d rather this than have him do a p.diddy who-when he wants attention talks about how he alone chooses the president and how long he can bang the gong.
but i like to think kanye actually did this out the goodness of his heart hence forth my venom will be reserved for mr Piddilydiddily puff daddy sha-wadeewadee mentioned above.

they only problem was that in the middle of serving the food he cut the line and said ”wait i’ll let you finish in a second.i just wanted to say that Amber’s porage is the best in the whole world”.

OMG why would he even FEED those homeless people? Shouldn’t his very presence be enough to sustain them? Don’t they know how lucky they are to even be in the same ROOM with him? Did he bring them his CD so they can compliment him on his awesomeness (even though they probably don’t have anthing to play it on, being HOMELESS and all)? Jeez!
But seriously, does he think homeless people give a damn about him? They just want food, and they know it’s all a publicity stunt, and I’m sure they don’t appreciate being used to make a complete and utter tool’s damaged reputation shine again. Ugh, poor homeless people, don’t they suffer enough?

sandy – the “truth” Kanye speaks is not the “truth”, it’s just his opinion. To which he’s entitled, absolutely, but it’s just that, an opinion. NOT “the truth”. Same as people who “tell it like it is”. No, you’re just stating your opinion. BIG difference.
As for this, I figure hey, it’s a good deed, good on him. Do I believe it’s just an attempt to repair his image? Absolutely. But it’s still a good deed. Besides, his misdeeds were far less serious than Chris Brown’s, yet this one act is still far more than Brown has even TRIED to do. So yeah, perspective, you know?

Whoopdy freakin do, handing off meals for a couple minutes like it’s some altruistic thing on their part -or that it actually benefits anyone (except themselves).
It’s an act. I dare these buttswipes (all of them, not just these two) to sit and make some blankets or something long-lasting and useful – and without cameras and press.
