Usually, I wouldn’t have given a second look to this tabloid report from The News of the World (via Showbiz Spy), but I think this one might be on the up-and-up. Apparently, Jude Law called his baby-mama Samantha Burke on Christmas Day and made a promise to visit their daughter Sophia for the first time “within a few weeks.” Previously, Jude seemed to want to “forget” his fourth child, but maybe he had a few drinks on Christmas and decided to check in on his baby-mama. Now, first of all, I believe this story because The News of the World reports that one of Samantha Burke’s friends told them the information (which has happened before), and because this information comes couched in Burke’s well-documented sketchiness. The friend also told the News: “She told us they would get back together but I think Jude just feels a responsibility to his daughter. Sam is also considering moving to London. It could be the career chance she wanted.” Yep. Sounds like my working theory on Samantha Burke – that the girl is batsh-t crazy and obsessed with forcing a relationship between herself and Jude.
JUDE Law has finally agreed to meet his lovechild.
The British actor has arranged to visit daughter Sophia — the result of a brief romance with model Samantha Burke — in Florida. The tot was born in September 2009.
Burke, 25, bragged to friends the Sherlock Holmes star phoned at Christmas to arrange a visit “within a few weeks”.
“She’s over the moon. She was hurt he had not seen Sophia,” a source told British newspaper the News of The World.
Sam, the insider said, hopes she can rekindle her romance with Jude — even though he is back with former flame Sienna Miller.
“She told us they would get back together but I think Jude just feels a responsibility to his daughter,” revealed the insider.
“Sam is also considering moving to London. It could be the career chance she wanted.”
Jude has three other children with ex-wife Sadie Frost.

I think Jude is a tool for many reasons involving this sketchy situation, but I don’t think Samantha is any kind of angel, or a wronged woman in any sense. I think she got what she wanted – a piece of Jude, a connection to him, a claim to some kind of fame. Personally, I don’t blame Jude for wanting to distance himself from Samantha, but I do think they should be able to work out some way he can be part of little Sophia’s life. That poor kid. Seriously.

I don’t think I’ll ever understand women who think that having a child of a celebrity somehow entitles them to a celebrity career? If they didn’t have the talent to get the recognition and jobs on their own why do they feel it will be a given for those doors to open up due to transfer of bodily fluids?
Having said that, Jude needs to see his child. If this story id true, then good for him for stepping up in that way. Also, if it’s Samantha who he doesn’t want to deal with, he could have it set up so that he doesn’t even have to deal with Samantha herself. There could be someone assigned to pick up the child from Samantha’s resident to meet Jude.

Personally, I don’t blame Jude for wanting to distance himself from Samantha. I agree KAISER, I think he kept away because she made such a big deal about it in the beginning, with all the bits of gossip and talking to the press. Maybe if she kept her mouth shut and had some dignity he might have seen his child a long time ago. I like Jude as an actor, and he is single and so is she, but I do question the woman he gets involved with, but saying all that he always has been a good dad to his children.

I’m with you, too, Sunseeker. I feel so sorry for that baby. Jude did this to himself, but I can see him caught between a rock and hard place.
Even if he wants to see his daughter, Samantha is a celebrity’s nightmare and I can totally understand him staying away from her. Hopefully, they can come to some kind of visitation arrangement that would involve Jude and Samantha having limited contact.

Firstly, he should have his balls removed.
Secondly, if removing his balls is not achievable or advisable, he should use CONDOMS.
I slightly feel uncomfortable blaming him, ’cause I hate those women (and men too, of course) who take advantage and get exposure by exploiting the children they have had with someone famous.
But it takes two to tango, he can’t escape the obligations he has to his own child.

If there is a visit planned, I am betting that he will be escorted (supervised) by his lawyer in order to give a little as possible for Samantha to blab to the tabloids. It would be much more fun if he visits his new daughter with Sienna in tow.
In time the story will die to an occasional blip, and he can enjoy contact with his daughter without tabloid involvement.
If Samantha had a brain, she would have done everything without constantly running to the tabloids and posting online. She has proven he cannot trust her and has ruined any chance for continued interest, like there was any chance to start with.

I think any reference to a ‘love child’ or a ‘romance’ should be permanently deleted from any story about this cad and famewhore. It was a hook-up plain and simple, and he was dumb enough to not have protection.

If he wanted to visit the child and is not doing it because of the mom , he could have ask the court to set visitations and a third part ( nanny or a family menber) pick the child and take him back to the mother.

Don’t care about his lady woes, he’s simply delicious. Delicious. Don’t know about Samantha, but if I was single and had the opportunity to get with a sexy British actor (any one of them would do), I wouldn’t hesitate for a second. I doubt many of us would.

Of course I don’t know if he does use protection or not, I wasn’t there (if I were there I’d took her place…) but I have the impression that he is the kind of guy who doesn’t care much about safe sex.

I don’t believe a word of this story!! There is no way Jude will go to see that kid because he knows Samantha will call the paps and make sure he is photographed going into or out of her/her parents’ house.
Even if he insists on meeting at a hotel or other neutral site, she will make sure the paps or someone she knows will be there to take photos that she can sale. The woman wants MONEY!! She could care less about that baby. The child was a means to an end. Her ticket to money and fame. Don’t bother feeling sorry for the kid because of Jude, feel sorry for the kid because of the mother she has been stuck with!!!
