Here is Jessica Simpson at the Los Angeles premiere of Extraordinary Measures, that film starring Harrison Ford and Brendan Frasier (that looks crappy). Jessica was trying out a new look, and of course, she’s been criticized for it. While HuffPo just dubs this Jessica’s “sexy secretary” look, the NY Post mocks her turtleneck (“the wrong kind of animal to be embracing”) and her “poorly supported boobs” in a “maternity bra”. What’s with all the hate for big boobs lately? Anyway, while I don’t think Jessica looks amazing here, she doesn’t look awful either. Meanwhile, Showbiz Spy notes that since the current rumor is about Jess and Billy Corgan being “just friends”, Jessica’s night out was “lonely”. Here’s more about the Corgan situation:

The 29-year old songstress and the Smashing Pumpkins front man are collaborating on some new material, according to EOnline.com.
Just yesterday Simpson tweeted, “I am blessed . . . going over a song w @billy and the boxer.”
Rumors of a romance between Simpson and Corgan, 42, began to surface when a photographer snapped a picture of the pair out together in New York City.
“She has fallen hard and is smitten,” a source told E! News at the time.
If there are any juicy details, Simpson and Corgan are keeping them to themselves, as both their reps have refused to comment.

Eh. Of course since it’s Jessica, I do tend to think it was Billy who pulled the plug on their romance, allegedly on all counts. But Jessica doesn’t look distressed or anything, and I actually think she looks fine here. Okay, okay, she’s a hot mess, and the turtleneck is too see-through and the jacket is too boxy, and the leggings are crap, but the look is kind of sexy. I like her hair like that, even though it ages her a bit.
In one bright spot for Jessica, she just inked a deal with Jones New York for a denim collection! Jessica’s clothing lines really are the best thing she’s got going, so it’s good to see concentrating on that stuff.
I don’t know if she’s gained some weight (or maybe lost some) but it seems like she has been having a hard time dressing herself lately.
Or maybe she is just trying to reinvent herself?
I think on the whole she looks better than I’ve seen her in a long time!
The only thing that looks bad is her hair. The tease job needs another once over with a comb to smooth it out.

This woman couldn’t pick out a decent outfit if her life depended on it. Doesn’t she have a stylist? Hell, I’ll take the job. I don’t know shit about clothes, but even I could put together something better than this crap ensemble.

I like her hair and makup but the outfit has to go. It’s too matronly. Also I think “hot mess” gets thrown around too casually. Jessica looks fine. Show a picture of Lindsay Lohan, that’s the definition of hot mess.
I kind of like the updo, it makes her look more mature, but I definitely would have gone with a less sheer turtleneck. The rest of the outfit looks fine, not stellar, but fine.

Why do they say her boobs are poorly supported? I see nothing wrong with her bra. The turtleneck is a lil see through…so what? It’s WAY better than showing crotch or a seethrough skirt. She looks fine.
It looks like she has tights over her shoes. She does look like she lost weight, her hair and face look beautiful, her outfit was a bad choice.

Smooth the hair over a bit and make the turtle neck opaque instead of see-through (even when faced with flashes it needs to be opaque) and honestly, I don’t see how this is so terrible. I’d rather see her like this than any of her other looks!

Love it. Love it. On her face it’s fantastic and really she looks like an older movie star. She needs to rock. that. look.
The makeup: also adore.
The clothes? Um no. I’d love to see her in a very toned down and playful version of Dita Von Teeses outfits. The niped jackets, pencil skirts, tucked in white shirt, 40’s look.
She needs to rock it.

The jacket looks too small and she should have worn real pants – other than that, I think she looks good.
She’s always a very pretty girl whatever size she is and that hair suits her very well but sadly that outfit isn’t doing her any favours – ‘sexy secretary’ shurely means ‘good tailoring which flatters all the right places’ – so how does a see-through turtleneck, too small jacket and thick leggings work that look?

Embee- that’s just what I thought! Her sideswept bangs look perfect! But she’s not a hot mess, the term would describe Lohan or an Olsen twin… I think Jessica looks very put together here.

i used to HATE black and brown/ navy and black but have recently embraced the combination of taboo colors. on the whole she really doesnt look that bad or great and while im not a jess supporter you have to feel for the girl getting picked apart for everything. its surprising she hasnt had some sort of breakdown. ill definately give her props for having thick skin
Ok guys, so maybe a couple of things could have been better choices but hey she’s a harmless sweet girl and the other end of the spectrum is Mariah Carey stuffing herself into things that 15 year olds wear. I’ll give Jessica some credit here, she’s beautiful.

Beautiful hair and makeup–very Bardot like. She needs to learn to dress her body type. I like the turtleneck and pants but the jacket looks cheap because it does not fit her bust properly.
I like her hair a lot and think it makes her look sophisticated. The slightly sheer turtleneck under the jacket looks nice and is understatedly sexy. Where she went wrong is the leggings and the dull colored, dark jacket. If she changed the jacket to a fitted, hot pink blazer, wore a black pencil skirt instead of the leggings, and finished the look with some pointy, pink and black leopard print mary-jane style shoes I think she’d look awesome.

I hope Jessica has a therapist that she can talk to. Such a pretty girl, good heart, but seems lost… I would recommend a chest reduction and a long holiday somewhere so she can find herself.

“As for the poorly supported boobs” they are wrong. That is a good, supportive bra. With breasts that size, you need a bra like that. It’s hard finding a cute bra for that size. As well as my size….geez.

well, she definitely at least *tries* for bardot on a fairly regular basis, tho i agree it sometimes veers into ivana trump territory. is it the paves? does the paves need to go? she seems kind of overdone a lot. i feel like i remember a time when JS was knocking it out of the park in the fashion dept ALL THE TIME – it was a few years ago – but it’s been a long time since then! not sure what happened there. she’s a good looking girl, im kind of surprised to see her so covered up. i think she could look *really* great all the time, so i’m surprised when she doesnt. remember when she just wore that short tight black dress and a bob haircut? she looked killer. she has the body for simple curve-hugger dresses like that and the face for nice, natural, fresh hair and makeup. i feel like all she needs to do is simplify and show off what god gave her! I know I’m not Rachael Zoe, but I thought leggings weren’t supposed to be treated like pants. You’re supposed to wear a tunic or something that’s relatively long over them.
