Mia Goth ‘encouraged’ Shia LaBeouf to move out of their LA home last year

This week, Shia LaBeouf was arrested in New Orleans after “terrorizing” the French Quarter for days. Shia fell off the wagon at some point, and he’s back to his old habits of getting wasted and starting fights. After his arrest, Shia was quickly released and he immediately began drinking again and posting on social media. Within this ordeal, we learned something: Shia is no longer with Mia Goth. They first got together in 2012, and they’ve had a tumultuous on-and-off relationship/marriage for years. In 2022, Mia welcomed their daughter Isabel. Well, apparently, Mia and Shia split up one year ago. Sources confirmed that news to Page Six earlier this week, and now People Magazine has more information:

Shia LaBeouf and Mia Goth separated last year, PEOPLE can confirm. The two actors have been together on and off since 2012. LaBeouf, 39, and Goth, 32, welcomed a daughter together in 2022.

“Their relationship has always been complicated. They weren’t getting along and had a lot of drama last year,” a source tells PEOPLE exclusively of the pair, adding that LaBeouf moved from their home in Los Angeles to New Orleans.

The Frankenstein star “encouraged” LaBeouf to move out, the insider says. “She loves him, but she also doesn’t need him. She’s very independent. She has her own life, her own career and her priority is their daughter.”

“Shia loves their daughter and stays in touch,” the source adds.

Reps for LaBeouf and Goth did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

[From People]

Mia has gotten a lot of attention in the past year, even garnering some awards buzz for Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein. She also has a role in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey. Meaning, her career is reaching new heights and she likely cut off the dead weight (Shia). Honestly though, I bet this was more about their daughter. In recent interviews, Mia has talked about how Isabel goes everywhere with her, and how much motherhood has changed her. I feel like Mia just got to a point where she did what she needed to do to get out of this relationship/marriage to Shia. If she files for divorce, I really hope Shia doesn’t make it messy.

Speaking of mess, the Hollywood Reporter spoke to one of Shia’s victims in NOLA, and the man says that Shia was committing hate crimes too. As Shia was violently assaulting people, he was also shouting homophobic bullsh-t. Throw his ass in prison, my god.

What is going on with him?

I feel like he’s been having the same level of public meltdown that many abused starlets have had. For decades.

But with no real consequences and absolutely no conservatorships. Or public every tabloid cover shaming.

Well he is a white man. Brad Pitt has also managed to sustain a successful career.

I feel like Shia’s upward trajectory would have skyrocketed by now if not for his difficult personality because he really is a talented actor. Hollywood can forgive an abusive man but they generally don’t tolerate on-set shenanigans particularly when you’re not A-List.

Why does he need a conservatorship? He’s an alcoholic who’s a jerk at heart and happens to be famous. He’ll either sober up because he wants to or he won’t.

He’s been a violent, unpredictable man for decades now. I have some sympathy in the sense that he’s clearly an addict and by all accounts, had a troubled childhood. That being said, the man is almost 40 years old and a father to a small child. If he refuses to commit to sobriety now, chances are he never will. I also question whether the substance abuse is the biggest problem for him or more so the anger issue. There’s been endless rumors about him being a nightmare to work with, he’s been in trouble with the law for a long time, plus the assault allegations against FKA Twigs etc.

As far as Mia goes, apparently she was unbothered by these things until Shia became an emotional burden for her too.

I think we all saw this coming from a mile away. Glad she’s kicked him out, but now she’s tied to him until their child is 18. Take note ladies, you can’t change a man, and having a child doesn’t make them ‘grow up’ if they haven’t done so already.

  4. UnKaren says:

Oh, the guy who ABUSED FKA TWIGS and made up a whole gd fakeass “biographical” film and identity about how his father abused him to cover for his own terrible behavior continues to be a shit stain? Quelle surprise!

I forgot about this! What a mess he is. Now I’m thinking he probably needs psychiatric care, and instead of getting it, he’s been self medicating his whole life.

What a waste of talent. It’s sad that he experienced child abuse. But, he needs help and he needs to commit himself to recovery and sobriety.
Mia is also very talented. I think she had a shaky childhood.
She was a teen, barely legal, when they first got together. So I give her a pass in what appears to be a struggle to cut him out of her life. It’s likely very complicated for her to navigate anything regarding Shia.
I hope she and her little girl stay safe.

Mia started officially dating him when she was 18. She may have really started earlier. Wr know from fka twigs that he is emotionally and physically abusive. Im not going to give her crap about not getting out earlier. Im just glad she is out now and hopefully she can keep herself and her child safe.
