Jim Carrey: Elin Woods was “willing participant” in Tiger’s affairs

'I love you Phillip Morris' Premiere - Paris

One of the strangest things happened with Jim Carrey over the past few days. He was sitting around, tweeting away, and he decided to put his two cents in about Tiger and Elin Woods. I think maybe Jim was watching the Masters golf tournament? Maybe? Whatever, so Jim took to Twitter to discuss his feelings on Tiger and his whores and his marriage, and Jim set off a firestorm. At first, Jim basically just said that we should leave Tiger alone and let him play golf, writing: “Tiger Woods owes nothing 2 anyone but himself. 2 please his father he gave up his childhood and his freedom in the world. That’s enough!” The next tweet, however, caused more consternation: “No wife is blind enough to miss that much infidelity. Elin had 2 b a willing participant on the ride 4 whatever reason. kids/lifestyle ;^)” Now, Jim hasn’t pulled down those tweets, but he did write later that “I do not condone infidelity” and “infidelity has never been an issue 4 me”. Which isn’t how I remember his past relationships, but whatever. Then Jim said that his “people” told him to take it down a notch. Here’s some of the exchange:

Ugh. Don’t murder me in my sleep, but I see where Jim is coming from. I’m not saying I agree with his assessment of Elin being a “willing participant” but I can totally understand how Jim was just sitting around and he decided to throw out a theory on Elin and Tiger’s marriage via Twitter. It’s just how he was thinking at the time, and it’s not like he wrote “Every married man should go out and screw as many ladies as he wants, all the time.” The sheer quantity of Tiger’s whores has made me idly wonder if Elin had an inkling too – but then I think about the dozens of enablers Tiger has around him, servicing his every whim and covering his tracks, and it makes sense of Elin could not have known.

Now, notice how Jim doesn’t really want to pontificate on Sandra Bullock’s marriage though. Interesting…

Much ado about nothing. I actually think Elin must have known to a certain extent what she was getting herself into by marrying Tiger in the first place.

I agree, I think she had to have been at least somewhat checked out to have not been aware. We always attribute such high ideals to the “wronged partner”, and now, given her unwillingness to kick Tiger’s nasty a$$ to the curb, it makes me wonder if she’s simply all about the fame and lifestyle. (Not that anything EVER makes Tiger Woods behavior acceptable- he’s just gross.)

i think she knew to a certain extent, like she found out before then forgave him because it was a one time thing then found out again (and this time it was going to be reported in tabloids)and went off and chased him to his car with a golf club.

He does have a point about the degree of naivety that Elin has shown. On the other hand she could have butchered Tiger in his sleep, in divorce court or in the media and chose not to. There’s most likely more to the story than anyone outside that marriage knows.

That was pretty douchey of Jim to make those comments. How does he know what Elin knew? Like Kaiser says, he had handlers and people covering for him. He was always away at golf tourneys so I bet she didn’t suspect anything for years.

Of course she knew. A majority of the people who get cheated on, KNOW. Either they refuse to acknowledge it, or just go along with it knowingly. People who don’t know they’re cheated on, must be out to lunch or something. I mean, come on, your man does like a 1000 women and you don’t know? Please! Oh well.

So if Elin “knew”, why did she go all crazy white girl on him/Tiger with a golf club???
Tiger had himself covered by a host of well paid “friends” and Elin didn’t expect him to be so stupid.

Is Jim off is meds again? Stupid idiot. He deserves all backlash from this.

Elin may have had her suspicions but no proof, or Tiger and his team were good at covering and she had no idea, but what is the point of publicly trashing her and supporting the massive cheater Tiger? A little notoriety at Elin’s expense?

I am sure he would say something similar about Sandra Bullock, but his people have probably shut him down on that subject.

Perhaps Elin knew that “something” was up, but was willing to look the other way as long as Tiger was discreet. Being confronted, publicly, by your husband’s busload of sluts is a different story.

I heard from a friend of mine two years ago about Tiger’s infidelities. How there is a No-Shame clause in his marriage that states that he can sleep around but cannot be caught. Apparently, there are a lot of celebs who have these clauses and at the time, I thought it was just a silly rumor. Lo and behold. Carey’s right, I mean, even housewives with husbands who are traveling all the time, have a heighten sense of intuition. Just my two cents.

On the one hand, I think she (like most “wronged” women) probably had an inkling that something was up or she’d taken him back after mistress number one, but what woman would seriously consider unprotected sex – which they have 2 young kids as a result of – with anything that had been shoved up a bunch of pay-per-hour hobags? You also don’t suddenly take a 9-iron to your husband’s back window if you’ve been complicit in his cheating all along…

God I hate twitter. I never wanted to know the inner workings of an actor’s mind. I just want them to act in movies. This twitter business ruins the suspension of disbelief we all agree to when we watch a movie. I hate imagining jim carey having ideas about tiger woods. I hate thinking about him thinking about infidelity, and I hate thinking about him and a peanut butter sandwich. Twitter is ruining the mystique of actors. i can’t watch demi moore ever again in a movie (not that she even has a job in one) without thinking about her stupid twitter life and verbal diarrhea. please actors, remember that you owe a large part of your success to the ability to be a believable chameleon on screen. the less we all know about you, the more the audience can be transported. think about it, and then shut up on twitter.

When you marry men in positions of power expect to be cheated on. Period. Too many are megalomaniacs with too much wherewithal at their disposal. In this sense, yes, I do suspect that one “knows” about extramarital excursions.

I don’t like quoting the Bible as I am a born-again pagan, but I really like the verse that roughly says:

“It’s easier for a rich man to go through the eye of a needle than to enter into Heaven.”

Love it, for who needs moral culpability and spiritual evolution when you are sitting on mounds of cash :/ Morality is for the middle class and faith is for the poor.

As regards Mr. Carey, it’s not his place. It’s not our place to speculate either, but we don’t have a successful Hollywood career to manage. Tread carefully, James. It’s open season on capricorns as Tiger Woods, Mel Gibson, Nicholas Cage, and Kirstie Alley can attest.

I can relate to his argument. I am not condoning what Tiger did but as a wife, you have to be living in a shoe box for your husband to have 19 mistresses and be a member of several ‘madam’ clubs and you are still blissfully unaware,

I am not saying it is impossible, just that when am idling, I do wonder. He is a golfer, so he is hardly busy year round and if he is not with you, you’ve got to wonder.

Tiger had the world fooled, then again, we do not sleep in the same bed with him. I don’t think Elin was an accomplice but she has to be either very dumb or something if she had no idea. My guess is that she had an idea and that is why she is sticking around. She is more humiliated than hurt. If my husband had half as many mistresses as Tiger, I would have packed and left by now. But it is her life and her problems.

I don’t know whether she knew or not, I suspect not, but I don’t know, and sorry Jim Carrey, neither do you! I seriously doubt he knows the inner workings of their marriage. Either way, to call her a willing participant is out of line, IMO.

As a celebrity himself, I doubt Jim would like other celebs commenting on the private details of his relationships. When you’re in the public eye, you have to think about what you’re saying and putting out there.

BTW, Tiger owes nothing to anyone but himself? I agree regarding the public, but I do think he owes something to his wife, children, and family.

As for Elin knowing about the infidelity? I think not. I think she was naive. Often the one being cheated on has no radar for it because they themselves would never consider doing it so it never enters their mind. Those who cheat, or who have been cheated on previously, are the suspicious ones.

She’s not in it for fame- she does zero interviews. And if she knew, then why did she flip out and destroy his car with a golf club? Those aren’t the actions if someone is complacent. And the media frenzy shows that no one knew- that’s why it was such a big story. Look at the facts, people.

  28. stinabelle says:

I also sort of see his point. When all the mistresses first started coming out, my dad and I were wondering if maybe Elin and Tiger made some kind of arrangement. You know, something like, “Okay, you’re going to be gone for long periods of time, you can sleep with other women, but I don’t want to know anything about it, and you keep it away from the family.”

We thought maybe the breaking point came when he brought some of the women into the family home, and then Elin learned about the no condom shenanigans.

So, I see Jim Carrey’s point, but it’s really none of his business, and why go posting that on his Twitter? Who does he think he is, Demi Moore? It’s sort of different when we discuss it on this site because we’re relatively anonymous, non-famous people, but Jim Carrey’s a star. Did he not think that comment might tarnish his reputation a little?

Fact is, there is this little thing called intuition, and it is almost always right on. Tiger was a good liar, and his handlers helped with the cover ups. But the fact remains,in a marriage you know when something is not right with your spouse, even if you don’t know the reason why. And any concerned spouse would do a little digging. And she found the tip of the iceberg when she looked through his phone, correct? I would have been like Magnum PI if I thought something was off with my husband. Tracks couldnt have been covered that well, as we have since discovered.

Is she knew why did she chase his butt down with a golf club when she confirmed for herself what a cheating bastard he was, and try to lobotomized his brain.

He may be right, but he has no more insight than the rest of us, and waaay more influence (people pay more attention to fifty celebtwatters tweaking than a million Joe Blow blogs), and he needs to be more responsible with it.

And why is it potentially life-threatening to say the truth? A lot of the time the other person in the relationship has some *small* role in the affair of their partner and the “other man/woman”. Whether they’re a Kate Gosselin type, or they’re a “I’m gonna look the other way” type…. I see what Jim was saying. He wasn’t saying it was Elin’s fault, that she deserved it, or that she caused it – he’s just saying she probably knew and looked the other way.

She was busy raising their children, paying the bills, and running a home. Her husband pulled the same “you knew – you just didn’t care” card, and you know why? Because it removes blame from them.
