It sounds like Cruise was cheating on Mimi Rogers when he arranged to meet the lovely Aussie up-and-coming actress on the set of “Days of Thunder.” The rest is history cloaked in exaggerated mystery:

After seeing Kidman in ‘Dead Calm,’ Cruise flew her in from Australia for her American movie debut. By film’s end, Cruise had left real-life wife Mimi Rogers in the dust and was igniting headlines with Kidman. The couple married on Christmas Eve 1990, adopted two children and separated — amid much mystery — just before their 10th anniversary.
