I finally got a chance to read US Weekly’s cover story with the details of Jon Gosselin’s alleged affair with a 23 year-old teacher from Reading, Pennsylvania. Both Jon and the other woman, Deanna Hummel, have denied the story, which was told by Deanna’s brother, Jason, with confirmation from “five sources,” including her cousin, who also went on the record to say “there’s speculation among the family that something’s going on between Deanna and Jon.” Deanna said Jason is trying to get back at her for kicking him out of the home they share, and she dismissed him as a former drug dealer who has had multiple run-ins with the law. The account in US Weekly of Deanna and Jon’s relationship is compelling, though, and includes corroborating details that we haven’t heard yet.

So far we’ve seen video of Jon leaving Deanna’s home early in the morning, and a photo of Deanna sunbathing on the lawn at Jon’s parents’ home as he sat nearby. “Unemployed” reality star Jon is also said to have spent hundreds on expensive gifts for Deanna, including a nearly $300 purse that US Weekly has the receipt for along with confirmation from the store where Jon shopped. Deanna’s brother also suspects that his sister’s new diamond watch is a gift from Jon:

Expensive presents. “He gave her a Cole Haan bag,” Jason says of the $295 Pixie Straw Collection bag that Jon FedExed, with receipt (shown in US print edition), to the Hummels’ home. A store clerk confirms to US that Jon shopped at Beverly Hills’ Rodeo Drive store on March 25, while traveling with Kate. As for other gifts, Jason points to his sister’s new diamond watch. “She never could have afford the watch, and it’s not a style she would have picked out,” Jason says.

There are plenty of funny quotes from Jason in the article. You’ve already heard the one where he claimed to have overheard his sister getting it on with Jon and called it “gross” and “nast”. He also described the moment he first saw Jon coming over, bearing 1/2 a pizza, chips and an iced tea.

I remember the first night he came over, in mid-February. She opens the door and I’m like, “Oh my God, Deanna, come on.” He came over with dinner, which was totally pathetic. He brought, like, a half-eaten box of pizza, a bag of chips and iced tea. It looked like a pizza that Kate had already eaten. I felt like going into the kitchen and dragging this guy out of my house.

Jason called Gosselin “dumb” and a “moron” as he explained his clumsy courtship of his sister, saying he didn’t try hard enough to hide the affair. It looks like Gosselin didn’t have to bother, considering that his girlfriend’s sister was the one he had to worry about, not the paparazzi or random witnesses.

Kate Gosselin has said that she’s “hesitant to believe” that her husband has been stepping out on her, and blamed the tabloids for blowing up what she considers a non-story. There’s speculation as to how their TLC reality show “Jon & Kate Plus 8″ will address the infidelity rumors. The show is sure to get many more viewers looking for trouble now that the news is out. Kate claimed that the show “will address the bigger picture, regarding the very public focus on our family and the stress it’s caused in our relationship, but not necessarily any specific tabloid.” The show’s fifth season premieres in just two weeks and as MSNBC’s The Scoop points out, they’d do well to show the family having problems as a lot of people will be tuning in looking for some drama.

Kate Gosselin was on The Today Show yesterday and she made it clear that she’s sticking by the husband of her eight children, Jon Gosselin, despite the wealth of evidence that he’s cheating on her. She seemed to suggest that the tabloids are making up the story, and said she’s “hesitant to believe” that it’s true. As for how they’re coping with Jon’s alleged infidelity, Kate said “we’re working through it together” and “privately”. Jon did not appear on the show with Kate, and Meredith Viera read out a statement from him that he made some poor choices but did not cheat:

“We just need to weather this storm, just like all the other storms that we’ve been through,” Kate Gosselin told TODAY’s Meredith Vieira in New York. The tabloid attention and paparazzi have come as something of a surprise to her, she added.

“It is so public. It’s one of the things we did not envision when we started our show,” Gosselin said. “It’s one of the things that comes with it — the tabloid stuff. To be very honest, I’m very hesitant to believe any of it. It comes with the territory. We’re dealing with it just like everybody else does.”

Gosselin was ostensibly visiting TODAY to talk about her new best-selling book “Eight Little Faces,” but she spent much of her airtime with Vieira talking about the allegations, which were published in the current edition of Us Weekly. Jon Gosselin and their eight children had been scheduled to appear with her, but as controversy continued to swirl, the family decided Wednesday that it would be better if Jon stayed at home with the children.

Instead, Jon sent a statement to TODAY denying the charges that he had an affair with 23-year-old Deanna Hummel, whom he met in January in a Reading, Pa., bar. Hummel also denies that the two are anything but friends.

“These allegations are false and just plain hurtful,” Jon said in his statement. “As I adjust to the attention that comes from being in the public eye, I need to be more careful and aware of who I am associating with and where I am spending my time. But the bottom line is, I did not cheat on Kate. I am sorry for putting my family in this awkward position, given some poor decisions and bad judgments I’ve made recently. I am working through this difficult time with my family. My family is my top priority.”

The reports of infidelity were attributed by the gossip magazine to Hummel’s older brother, Jason, with whom she lives.

Meanwhile someone who claims to be an ex boyfriend of Jon Gosselin’s rumored mistress is taking advantage of the tabloid coverage to sell an alleged sex tape featuring the woman. Someone has posted some very NSFW photos on the website DeannaHummel.com and claims they’re of Deanna, although you can’t see her face and it’s impossible to tell. They’re offering a sex tape up to the highest bidder, but this is just as likely to be a hoax.

When I read the news about her alleged affair with Jon Gosselin from the show Jon & Kate Plus 8, I have to say I wasn’t surprised.

The Deanna I knew wasn’t above cheating, even with married men, hence our eventual breakup. During our time together we made a secret amateur sex tape. It wasn’t a hidden cam or anything, she was totally aware of the fact that I was taping. This has never been available to the public before. And it still isn’t…yet! It’s doubtful that this sex tape is really of Deanna Hummel, but even if it is who cares? She’s not actually famous and it doesn’t feature Jon Gosselin.

In terms of Jon’s alleged affair with Deanna, how likely is it that they were “just friends” and that he was videotaped leaving her house in the morning and hanging out while she sunbathed in a bikini on his parents’ lawn? Kate might not want to believe it because she has eight kids kids with the guy and the tabloids are quick to smear people, but there’s plenty of evidence that her husband cheated.

This week, she came forward to say she’s just friends with the star of TLC’s Jon & Kate Plus Eight. Now Hummel, 23, is fighting back against her brother Jason and his claims that she really is having a fling with the married father of twin daughters and sextuplets.

“My brother is making this all up,” Hummel tells PEOPLE. “He has no credibility … I can’t even stomach the lies he’s saying about me.”

Hummel continues to deny any sort of romantic relationship with Gosselin, and the elementary school teacher admits that there’s been bad blood between her and her brother for a while now. “My brother is very shady,” says Hummel. “He has no job. He has a criminal background. He was charged for drug distribution. He’s on probation right now.”

And though the siblings live together, she says she was in the process of buying their home – and asking him to move out. “He wanted to get back at me … he knows he’s getting kicked out of the house.”

Meanwhile US Weekly has video of Jon Gosselin allegedly leaving Deann’s house in the morning, and a follow-up quote from her brother that he “has no reason to lie”. Jon and Kate went on the record to EW that there was no affair, and are scheduled to appear on The Today Show this morning. From the way Kate words her response, you can tell she’s super pissed off at her husband:

EW: What did you think of the story and photo?
Jon: It’s really upsetting. I may be guilty of choosing the wrong time and place to hang out with my friends, but I am not guilty of cheating on my wife. It hurts me to see what it’s done to my family, and it’s scary to know that these tabloids are in town constantly following us and even paying locals large amounts of money to contribute to these negative stories. Kate: It’s disturbing and unfortunate that these tabloids have gone as far as they have to try and bring us down. Jon’s poor judgment and irresponsible behavior has also without a doubt caused some added tension and stress between the two of us.

There’s some speculation that Jon and Kate are winging their media blitz without support from The Learning Channel and that their goody-goody image is suffering because of it. Their new season starts May 25 and this is all a little too conveniently timed. The controversy does comes across as genuine though, and you can tell this family is suffering because of dad’s alleged infidelity. Unfortunately it will ultimately hurt their kids much more than either of these grownups, who have been making decisions to air their children’s day to day activities in a way that many people worry will affect them for the rest of their lives. Now that their dad’s affair has been made public there’s that much more to be concerned about.

US Weekly features an exclusive cover story this week with the details of Jon Gosselin’s three month affair with a young third grade teacher from his hometown. Last week they revealed that Gosselin, the dad on TLC Reality Show “Jon & Katie Plus 8,” was busted in his car with another woman outside a bar at 2am. Both Jon and the other woman denied that there was anything going on between them. Jon claimed that she was a friend and that he was just letting her check out his new car.

The brother of the woman Gosselin was cheating with was willing to go on the record with details of his sister’s relationship to US Weekly. Jason Hummel lives with his sister Deanna and he confirms that was she having an affair with married dad of eight Jon, and that he could often hear them having sex in the house:

It looks like Gosselin is busted now. Not only does US Weekly have a quote from his girlfriend’s brother, they also claim that they’ve confirmed the affair with four other people, including another one of her relatives. Do you think these two will break up and will TLC record it for posterity or will their show be quietly canceled? From what I understand ‘Jon & Kate’ revolves around this fantasy that they’re a happy family that copes with 8 kids on their own. The show doesn’t reveal the fact that they supposedly have a chef, nannies and a maid. It’s not like they’re going to reveal that daddy hasn’t been living at home and has been stepping out with a teacher.

US Weekly is running a cover story in their latest issue that features a photo of TLC reality star Jon Gosselin of “Jon & Kate Plus 8″ in his car at 2am with another woman. Gosselin was partying at a bar without his wedding ring, but claims that the woman was just a friend and that he was letting her drive his new car, a white Nissan Nismo Z which retails at $37,000 and up. Gosselin is unemployed and he and his wife Kate live off the income from their reality show with their eight children. This isn’t the first time he’s been photographed out drinking at bars without his wife.

According to the woman seen with Jon, his story is accurate and they’re just friends.

“We’re just friends,” Deanna Hummel, 23, tells PEOPLE exclusively. “It’s absurd that anyone would think otherwise.”

According to Hummel, she met Gosselin through a mutual pal a couple of months ago. Since then, the two have been hanging out – as part of a group of friends, not as couple. The social outings have included visits to each other’s houses and nights out on the town, but always with others there, and it’s always all innocent, according to Hummel.

“We just talk and socialize, the normal things you do when you see friends,” says Hummel.

Hummel admits that the two did show up at Legends Bar in Reading, Pa., recently, but says a published photo of her driving Gosselin’s car has been misinterpreted. “He just got this new car and I wanted to drive it. I’m into cars,” she says. “We all have guy and girl friends. Because of who he is, it gets portrayed the wrong way, and it’s unfair to him and his family.”

She also adamantly denies that Gosselin called her “babe” while heading to his car. “He did not by any means call me ‘babe,’ ” she says. “Nobody calls me babe. That made me laugh.”

What she doesn’t find funny, though, is being linked to a married man. “He’s a very nice guy, don’t get me wrong. But he’s married with eight children,” says Hummel, who is single. She adds that Gosselin “has a great family life. I would never ever think to pursue anything.”

After reports broke last week that Gosselin had been spotted out late at night with a woman who is not his wife, he released a statement saying he’d shown “poor judgment.”

“My family is the most important thing in my life and it kills me that these allegations have hurt them,” he added.

This week’s National Enquirer says that not only was Jon photographed with that woman – he was also caught making out with her in a stairwell by the hotel bar. The two didn’t get a room, though. There’s some speculation that the woman is actually one of the Gosselin’s unseen nannies or maids, as they’re said to have plenty of hired help that they hide from the cameras. It’s suspicious that Jon was seen out without his wedding ring and that he’s partying so much when he has a wife and eight kids at home. Many of you who watch this show say that they have a dysfunctional relationship and that Kate is often nagging Jon, who can be passive aggressive towards her. Even if Jon isn’t cheating, it doesn’t bode well for his relationship if he’s out with other women in the middle of the night.

I’m not invested in this Gosselin family (Jon & Kate Plus 8) at all, but it seems like Jon and Kate are just not going to make it in the long run. Earlier today, CB reported on US Weekly’s cover story about Jon allegedly cheating on Kate with some mystery brunette. All Us Weekly really has are some photos of a drunk-looking Jon getting into a car with the girl. Without his wedding ring! Gasp.

Now Jon has offered an apology, sort of. He tells Extra (story via US Weekly) that he “showed poor judgment” and he calls his behavior “careless”. He doesn’t say that his actions have hurt his family, though, he says that “these allegations” have hurt his family. Blah, blah, blah, where was your wedding ring, Jon? And where were your pants?!

Jon told Us in an emailed statement that he went to Legends Lounge — near the $1.3 million family home in Wernersville, Pennsylvania — that night to “speak to the owner. A friend of mine wanted to check out my car, so I let her drive it to her car.”

CB thought something fishy was going on, and I tend to agree. The details are what does it for me – he was obviously drunk, he wasn’t wearing his ring, and his wife was out of town. That’s like the trifecta of cheating. It seems both Kate and Jon have some issues they need to work out, and perhaps they’ll figure it out separately. I feel for those kids – not so much Kate and Jon.

Jon Gosselin arrived at the club at 11:20 p.m. and by 2 a.m. “could barely walk” as he exited the less-public back entrance of Legends Lounge — near the family’s $1.3-million home in Wernersville, Pennsylvania — on April 18, a fellow partier tells Us Weekly.

The dad of 8 — kids are twins Madelyn and Cara, 8, and 5-year-old sextuplets, Aaden, Joel, Collin, Hannah, Leah and Alexis — was overheard yelling, “Hey, babe! Babe! Give me my jacket!” before climbing into his Nissan Nismo. (She complied.) As cameras began snapping, he panicked, urging his female friend to “get in the car!” before speeding off hastily — without even turning on the headlights.

Where was his wife Kate — known for her insults and who famously once berated him for breathing on the show?

Nearly 2,000 miles away, promoting her book Eight Little Faces in Bellevue, Washington.

While TLC had no comment on the story or the couple’s marital status, Jon sent an emailed statement to Us.

“I went to Legends to speak to the owner. A friend of mine wanted to check out my car, so I let her drive it to her car,” he says. “Yes, I have female friends — but that is all she is. I’m not going to end my friendships just because I’m on TV.”

In February, the 32-year-old was spotted flirting with — and even attempting to kiss — coeds at Juniata College, multiple students confirm to Us Weekly. (He denied any wrongdoing.) He told one coed “he was getting divorced.” In the May Ladies Home Journal, he says, “I always thought I would be, like, 54 years old and marry a 19-year-old or something.”

I don’t watch this show but I did catch some clips on YouTube to see what all the fuss is about. Kate can come across as bossy as people are pointing out in the comments on website Gosselins Without Pity and you can see how some would call Jon passive aggressive. They’re probably decent people, but it just seems like a bad idea in general to open your family up to the kind of scrutiny that comes along with a reality show. Many critics say that it risks the children’s safety and that it violates their privacy at a time when they’re not mature enough to make an informed decision about airing their life to the world. Others see it as a fun, harmless show about a family making it all work with so many young kids.

Something isn’t working for this couple though if Jon is out with young women in the middle of the night. He previously denied getting up to anything when he was photographed partying with co-eds in February. One time I could buy, but now that he’s been caught twice you kind of assume he’s got something on the side. If Jon and Kate do split up it’s going to be hard for all their kids. It almost doesn’t matter how much money they have now and how much help they can hire if their relationship falls apart partially as a result of their fame. Are these two the latest victims of the reality show curse? Do reality shows put unnecessary stress on a relationship, are people with weak relationships more likely to agree to a reality show or is it some painful combination of both?

Kate has a new book out, Eight Little Faces, that she’s promoting while her husband is out partying. She released her last book, the bestseller Multiple Bles8ings just last November.
