Mischa Barton, who was placed under a 5150 involuntary psychiatric hold last Wednesday at Cedars-Sinai Medical, is probably going to lose her role in the upcoming CW show “Beautiful Life.” Most 5150 holds last 2-3 days, but according to the Chicago Tribune, Barton is still being held at Cedars. Worried that she won’t make it out in time for production – or that she won’t be able to handle the role – the show is quietly recasting her role.

The CW’s new drama, about the lives of supermodels, is already preparing for life without Mischa Barton, EW reported, in light of her recent involuntary psychiatric hold implemented by Los Angeles police. Alternate plans have the show replacing Barton’s role — that of Sonja Stonean, an experienced-but-fading model, to be replaced by a different character of the same ilk (which casting has already begun for). Barton’s image was still being advertised on the show’s Web site as of press time.

Radar also has an account of Mischa’s partying behavior from a temporary friend she met in London during last year’s fashion week. Apparently Mischa was trying to meet new people, which is generally a good goal. But when you’re a celebrity, I would think you’d learn to be a bit more cautious about who you let see you do drugs. But that’s not the case with Mischa – she openly smoked a joint in front of Radar’s source, was in the bathroom for “a very long time,” and opened her purse in a way that let the source see white powder inside. Here are some of the highlights from the interview.

“Mischa was obviously out of control, she was behaving like an addict and I’m not surprised by the latest turn of events,” an insider — who spent the night partying with the fallen starlet — exclusively revealed to RadarOnline.com… The insider told RadarOnline.com: “I first met up with Mischa at an after party at Portland Place and she seemed like a really fun girl who was keen to make new friends. “She was a little anxious because the venue was so crowded, so, she invited me and a couple of friends to the Bungalow 8 club below St Martins Lane Hotel where she was staying. “When we arrived at the club she started drink tequila and she was getting a little edgy because some paparazzi had followed her.”

According to our source, Barton then disappeared into the bathroom for a ‘very long time’ and when she emerged she had lost her Blackberry phone … “She discussed getting some marijuana with somebody in our party, and she gave him some cash so that he could buy it from a dealer he knew.”… The party-goers then returned to Bungalow 8 where supermodel Kate Moss was sitting with a group of friends and after having a few more drinks they agreed to go to Barton’s room on the 4th floor of the hotel.

Our source told us: “When we got inside the room Mischa instantly offered us some drinks from her mini-bar before getting out her laptop and laughing at a video of Kimberley Stewart falling off a motor bike on YouTube. She told us that she hated Kimberley and Paris Hilton because they had made fun of her after her DUI arrest but that Naomi Campbell had phoned her to offer some support. After some time she went into her purse and took out a bag of marijuana – when she put her purse down I could see traces of white powder inside it.

“She then started grinding-up the marijuana on the hotel table before rolling two joints and lighting one and smoking it. We sat with her for at least an hour watching some television before we left her to fall asleep around 3 a.m. because she had a FHM magazine photo-shoot the next day. Mischa was a sweet person but she is really foolish as both her drug and alcohol consumption was very open. She didn’t seem to be able to control herself and I’m not surprised that it has snow-balled and that she is now in hospital. In my opinion she is going to need a lot of help to fully recover from what I saw that night in London.”

It’s hard to say just what Radar requires from their sources, but the story sounds at least believable. Mischa’s been a known party girl for almost as long as she’s been famous. Winding up in a psychiatric hospital is pretty severe though, and I’m truly curious about why she’s still there. Even Britney Spears was only held three days. Perhaps Mischa’s agreed to stay there voluntarily at this point, since there haven’t been any reports of court hearings to extend the hold. She is the one who called the police in the first place, which makes me think that whatever is going on with her, she is at least at times thinking rationally.

It sucks that Mischa may lose her role, but frankly it probably shouldn’t be her biggest priority right now. There have been a lot of rumors about exactly what went down with her, but it seems clear that drugs and alcohol have been an issue for a long time. There’s no point in speculating what’s going on in terms of her mental health. Whatever it is, it’s doubtful it’s the sort of thing that takes a week to get over. She’s going to need some time away to regroup and refocus, which hopefully she’ll take.

You’ve probably heard by now that Mischa Barton had some sort of episode at her home and had to be taken to the hospital under an involuntary psychiatric hold.

People Magazine has a whole story chronicling all of Barton’s “troubles” and saying she’s a “party girl.” She drank a lot and was often photographed drunk, and she does have one DUI. She took responsibility for that, though, and seems like she handled it well in light of everything. She did have some normal personal issues like breakups with guys, but she’s young, and she’s always struck me as much more level headed than her peers.

I’m going to wildly speculate what happened, and a lot of people are going to assume it was “illegal” drugs, but I would bet it was some sort of prescription drug issue, either abuse of prescription drugs and alcohol or some kind of accident or side effect. I have no information whatsoever to make that assumption except for the story that she had dental surgery three weeks ago along with the fact so many people are having this problem lately.

I’ve seen friends become addicted to painkillers they really needed, their personalities totally changing in the process. Add a couple of cocktails in there and it can cause a person to really lose it. A drug interaction or new prescription can also lead to psychiatric problems that are completely uncharacteristic for a person.

All we know is that a young actress went to the psych ward and we have no idea what she was taking, if anything. When the same thing happened to Britney, though, people were quick to say she was crazy. They ignored the fact that Sam Lutfi was slipping drugs in potentially harmful combinations into her food. She did flip out, but she was also drugged against her will most of the time and people forget that. You mix some of that stuff together and it can really mess a person up. Sure there is free will and personal responsibility, but that doesn’t mean we can’t show compassion and give someone the benefit of the doubt.

Ten to one Mischa had a bad reaction to something, illegal or not, and she didn’t just wig out on her own. We’ll have to wait and see if we learn what happened though, and for now this is pure conjecture. The important thing is that she’s ok, is under supervision, and will hopefully get proper treatment. Mischa Barton’s gotten a lot of attention recently for the dramatic change in her appearance. Her face has looked severely bloated while her eyes have been wide as saucers. She generally just looks really, really out of it. Barton said the bloating in her face was due to getting her wisdom teeth removed, which could be possible. But she’s also had drug and alcohol problems in the past, and it’s possible she’s struggling with those issues again.

To complicate matters, last night Mischa mysteriously called the police to her home for some sort of problem. She was removed from the home and taken somewhere – the cops won’t say where.

Mischa Barton was removed from her West Hollywood home Wednesday by police, an LAPD spokesperson confirms to Usmagazine.com.

“We responded to her home last night on a medical issue,” Officer April Harding tells Us. “We assisted with it. She was removed from her home.”

Harding tells Us no 911 call was received, and that she was not sure if Barton, 23, was in distress. When asked if the actress was cooperative, she tells Us: “I guess.”

Harding did not release details on where Barton was taken, citing California privacy laws.

A source tells Us Barton called the police herself after having a “freak out.”

The actress — best known for her role on The O.C. — was charged in 2008 with DUI and marijuana possession. She was sentenced to 36 months probation, told to attend alcohol education classes and pay a fine.

My instinct is still drugs, however according to Radar, Mischa wasn’t arrested. And while she could have been delivered to a rehab center, these are cops. If she was under the influence of drugs, wouldn’t they have most likely arrested her? My second thought was that perhaps she’s having some sort of breakdown and was taking to a psychiatric hospital. That would explain the “freak out” comment made by one of Barton’s friends. Drugs could still be the root of the problem – or it could be something else. But it seems strange for police to go to Mischa’s home for what’s being called a medical issue.

According to People, Mischa canceled her appearance at the premiere of her film “Homecoming” tonight. Someone who I’m presuming is Mischa’s publicist (People has a typo in their article and omits his relationship to Mischa, but from the context that appears to be his job) is saying the police just came to escort her to the doctor. Right.

The star’s Craig Schneider, tells PEOPLE exclusively that police were only needed to protect the former O.C. star from the media as she was transported to her doctor.

“Police were involved due to Ms. Barton’s celebrity status, to safely transfer her to medical treatment as per doctor’s orders,” Schneider tells PEOPLE, adding that Barton is now “okay and resting.”

That sounds like one of the worst generic PR lines since starlets starting needing hospitalization for “dehydration” and “exhaustion.” Um, she is not that big a celebrity, whoever you are Craig Schneider. I seriously doubt Mischa was being so mobbed by fans that she couldn’t get to the doctor. My money is still on a breakdown, but for Mischa’s sake I hope I’m totally wrong.

I have no problem with Mischa Barton in concept. She’s a mediocre to terrible actress who gets a lot of flak for her weight and thinks she’s a fashionista. And here is where I start disliking her – she just takes herself so seriously. In an interview with People, she promotes the Spring 2009 line of her headbands and explains that her style is so eclectic because she’s traveled so much the past year. You can almost see her agent writing these sound bytes for her.

Style icon Mischa Barton might be known for seamlessly shifting from retro-cool street style and red carpet elegance, but regardless of where she’s headed, Mischa tells PEOPLE.com, “Accessorizing is oddly my favorite part of dressing up.” It comes as no surprise then that the actress has been having fun developing her headband collection with designer Stacey Lapidus. Mischa says that she found inspiration for the hair accessories, which range from $50 to $200, in her jet set lifestyle.

“I’ve been working in the likes of India, Milan, Paris, London, Montreal, L.A, and NYC,” she explains. “My style has been somewhat boho chic, which I think is a result of having traveled so extensively throughout the course of the past year.” And she’s about to get even busier! In addition to her headband line and a collection of handbags, Barton is waiting to hear whether her pilot for the CW, A Beautiful Life, will get picked up for a series this fall. “It was a blast to film and though I’ve only seen bits and pieces [of it], I’m proud of the show and hopeful that I’ll get to shoot some more,” she says. “Since I have an obvious passion for fashion, it was also incredible for me to be offered a role that’s immersed in the industry.”

You can check out the headbands here, and I have to say that I am not at all impressed. Some of them you could put together yourself with $10, a hot glue gun, and a trip to a craft store. The beaded ones you could probably find at a quarter of the price at Claire’s or, if you’re feeling really adventurous, a craft show or farmer’s market. It probably doesn’t help that I really don’t understand the headbands that are meant to be worn down on the forehead. To me, they just look a little dumb.

I’m not sure what’s so fashion-forward about $150 fake flowered headbands, but whatever floats your boat, Mischa.

For some reason, Mischa Barton, whose latest movie Walled In was a straight-to-DVD horror flick, is still getting press. She is now on the cover of the “Naked body confidence issue” of Cosmopolitan UK. Due to the nature of the issue, there are headlines next to her that say things like “Your body rocks!” “Cellulite is not a crime!” and “Married for eighteen months before I had sex with my husband!”

People who care about the mediocre actress have noticed recently that she’s been looking scary skinny. In the issue of Cosmo, she admits that when she broke up with her last boyfriend, she dropped from a size 12 to a size 6, (In US Sizes this is a size 10 to a 4) but now she feels healthy and happy – and it looks like she’s gained a little weight (in a good way).

Barton’s body has been media fodder for years now — first when she was waifishly thin, then later when she was mocked for having cellulite (which she would claim was doctored into photos).

Barton tells Cosmo, “Surely there are more important issues than if someone has cellulite? And I don’t understand the point of people looking for bad things. Why bother? I know it’s human nature to want to pick on other people, but I find it a little shallow.”

She also claims she dropped a few sizes — going from a 12 to a 6 or an 8 — following her breakup last year from Rooney guitarist Taylor Locke.

“The only way to be happy and be a more enjoyable person to be around is to embrace what you’ve got,” she says. “Everyone has issues about their body, but I feel confident now. I’m healthy and happy.”

Mischa was recently cast in the CW’s new show The Beautiful Life, which stars Mischa Barton as a supermodel, but producers asked her to gain weight because they were worried that her skinny frame would send the wrong message to their teenage audience. Strange concern for a show about a supermodel.

Mischa was for some time traipsing around Europe doing much of nothing, but her IMDB page lists several new projects coming up. Hopefully while putting on weight, she also managed to gain some talent.

Mischa Barton isn’t exactly someone I’d go to for relationship advice. I mean the girl dated Cisco Adler. And his balls. Which were so legendary, AC/DC wrote a song about them. Almost 30 years before photographic evidence of aforementioned big balls was produced. That’s how epic they are; they actually go back in time. I digress.

The point being, Mischa Barton doesn’t exactly have an enviable – or even respectable – dating history. Yet she seems to think she’s got relationships all figured out. At least in terms of what not to do. And what’s that? Get married. According to Mischa, that’s when it all goes to pot.

Mischa Barton isn’t a fan of marriage.

The actress, who recently split from The Kooks singer Luke Pritchard, reckons it puts too much pressure on couples.

‘I just think people try harder until they’re married,’ says Mischa.

‘You see a lot of relationships fall apart because it’s the last step. There’s nothing left and a lot of dudes freak out and the women become bitchier. I see it to be bad for relationships.’

Mischa, 23, reckons she’ll only get hitched after she’s had babies.

‘Whoever is going to be the father of my children, I’ll probably inevitably marry,’ she tells OK! ‘But that’s not on the cards anytime soon.’

I’m certainly glad to hear she’s not planning on getting married anytime soon, if that’s the way she feels about it. That’s one hell of a pessimistic attitude, and it also shows Mischa’s not very smart, because she didn’t factor in other relationship complexities.

You could easily argue that a lot of people do stop trying once they get married, but a lot of couples also stop trying once they’ve been together a long time: married or not. And just as importantly, a lot of couples keep putting in effort over the duration of sixty year marriages. But I guess Mischa wants to focus on the negative. Or maybe those are the only examples of marriages she’s seen, both of which are sad. Probably a good reason to wait a long, long time before walking down the aisle.

A feud is brewing between two D-list celebrities over a coveted role on the reload of “Melrose Place.” Ashlee Simpson, who decided to jump ship on her questionable career as a “singer,” won the role that sources say former “O.C.” star Mischa Barton desperately wanted. Now, Mischa is taking it personally.

Mischa desperately wanted one of the CW network soap’s top roles, playing a small-town sex kitten named Violet. But new mom Ashlee landed the part, leaving Mischa to join CW’s drama pilot, “A Beautiful Life.”

“Mischa became furious with Ashlee because she believes Ashlee knew she wanted the part of Violet very badly and Ashlee set out to steal it,” an insider told The Enquirer. “But Mischa won’t admit it.”

Although the role had been earmarked for the 23-year-old Mischa, Ashlee, 24, aggressively pursued it,” insiders say.

“Ashlee did well on ’7th Heaven and then nailed this part. It’s nothing personal towards Mischa,” a source said.

To add to Mischa’s woes, she recently broke up with her English boyfriend, Luke Pritchard, from the band The Kooks.

There’s just so much that’s wrong with this story. First and foremost, the need for the CW to revive yet another wretched 90′s soap opera. Second, the idea that either Mischa Barton or Ashlee Simpson are even being considered actresses. I know a lot of people who feel that Mischa Barton’s terrible, wooden acting pretty much torpedoed the last season of “The O.C.” And Ashlee Simpson “doing well” on “7th Heaven” is also arguable at best. There were Internet message boards that were dedicated to getting her off the show!

At any rate, you’d think that someone like Mischa, who’s been in the industry since she was a child, would know how these things go. Sometimes you get the role, sometimes you don’t. Nothing personal – it’s just business. And she did get a part in another show. She should be glad anyone is even letting her audition at this point. As for the new “Melrose Place” – if Ashlee Simpson is the big star, you can bet this one won’t even be “TiVo”-worthy.

Mischa Barton has broken up with her boyfriend of 4 months, musician Luke Pritchard, lead singer of the Kooks. While Mischa says there is ‘no bitterness’ in the break up, she did feel the need to blog about it.

I’m sure you guys are all going to hear about it soon enough so I just wanted to tell you what is real first — I broke up with Luke when I got to London. Things just didn’t feel quite right. There was no cheating or anything terrible, the bad just started to outweigh the good and a long distance relationship
is never an easy thing to do.

I hope that the press will show some respect in the near future as we both find it very difficult to deal with a lot of attention or speculation from the media. I think Luke is a great guy, but the type better suited as a friend. We have a surprising amount of mutual friends in England and I don’t regret our time together, I just couldn’t keep it going.

There is no bitterness between us…that I know of (sorry, I had to joke!). If there ever is a case of two people staying friends I’m sure it will be the case with us — our personalities are very good for that.

If only Mischa had blogged about the relationship, we might have been more aware of it and thus more concerned about its demise. That, or actually done some kind of work that kept us vaguely interested in her beyond commenting on her atrocious fashion sense.

If you are confused by Mischa and her career, you aren’t alone. She said that her parents also have no idea what she does for a living:

Lindsay isn’t the only starlet who’s been getting press about her weight loss. Mischa Barton is fed up with the reports on her weight loss, and has taken to her website to confront the rumors. She claims that there has been “a lot of crazy press” about her weight, and that though she’s lost a few pounds, it’s nothing to worry about. Spending time in India and Paris have just “helped” her lose weight.

So lately there’s been a lot of crazy press about my weight and just so you guys know I’m happier and healthier than ever so there is no need to worry about me. Things are really well in Mischa world and I’ve just been watching what I eat.

I still love my pilates and yoga, and have cut back on fatty foods a bit. My time in India and Paris really just helped me lose a little bit of weight but there’s nothing drastic going on!

I appreciate the concern, I just wish the press wouldn’t harbor on it as I think it’s very unhealthy for young girls to read about and pay attention to. To my female fans: Just be happy and secure with yourself and don’t let other people’s perceptions of you dictate the way you live your life.

So I’m confused. She says that she’s getting bad press about losing weight, but it’s okay, because she’s on a diet and is exercising. She never seemed like the kind of girl who had weight problems at all. Unlike Lindsay, who is naturally a little curvier all over, Mischa is naturally thin. The only bad press I’ve heard about Mischa’s body is people commenting on the cellulite on her thighs – the girl used to have hips! Give her a break!

Mischa couldn’t act herself out of a paper bag, but she’s pretty and has an interesting style, most of the time. According to her IMDB page, she has quite a few B-list movies coming up, and since this story about her body was on People’s website, maybe her agent was fishing for some publicity. Other than the scandal about her DUI last year, she’s a pretty tame starlet, and press is press, whatever form it comes in.

Mischa Barton is an attention whore. There’s no kinder or gentler way to put it, so it might as well just be said. She hasn’t had a single significant acting job since she was fired from “The O.C.” forever ago. Well… three years ago, which is forever in Hollywood. There’s several things I’ve never even heard of on her IMDB page (“Virgin Territory” anyone?), but mostly Mischa’s been making a name for herself by going the Paris Hilton route – being famous just for being famous. Oh, and her atrocious fashion sense.

So what else can you do to get people to pay attention to you? Well, not get a job, that’s for damn sure. So Mischa did the next best thing. When attending the Miss Sixty fashion week show, she wore a black dress that was completely see through under a photographer’s flash. And when the kind employees of Miss Sixty tried to find something for her to use to cover up, she ungraciously refused almost everything they offered.

You can lead a fashionista to couture, but you can’t make them wear it.

Only minutes before showtime, staffers backstage at Miss Sixty were in crisis mode—Mischa Barton’s dress was see-through.

Indeed, the O.C. starlet had arrived at the Fashion Week tents in Bryant Park wearing a thin, black frock that photographers’ flashbulbs would render transparent. Men and women working for the label immediately began scrambling to find something by the designer to drape over Barton, even taking clothes off their own backs and offering them to her.

“She’s a royal pain in the ass,” one staffer complained to another. “We sent all these clothes over and she ends up wearing nothing!”

She was selective, but wound up agreeing to a scarf that draped strategically over her shoulders. Thankfully, it was not the same scarf Kristen Bell was wearing, although that black, white and red accessory was about to be given to her when the potential faux pas was realized.

Zimbio reports that Mischa wasn’t just “selective,” but flat out “extremely picky.” Obviously Barton wanted the attention and headlines a naked dress would bring her. It had nothing to do with being finicky about fashion choices, as anyone with an ounce of class would probably tell you that showing your nipples is about the least fashionable and most tacky thing you could do. Not that tackiness ever stopped Mischa Barton. Nonetheless, thank goodness for that scarf.
