Johnny Depp has finally talked about his daughter Lily-Rose’s hospitalization last year. She was rushed to the emergency room and nearly died according to many sources. Production was halted on the set of Depp’s movie “Sweeny Todd” so that Depp could stay with his daughter. Though he and girlfriend Vanessa Paradis haven’t officially disclosed what sent Lilly-Rose to the hospital, several sources said she was suffering from sent Lilly-Rose to the hospital, several sources said she was suffering from Lily-Rose blood poisoning after stepping on a rusty tack. Celebitchy noted: “According to In Touch’s website (no permalink available) ‘Blood poisoning… spread through her body and has affected her vital organs’,’ and one of her kidneys was failing, although that no longer seems to be the case. She is said to be doing much better now according to Johnny Depp’s rep.” Depp talked with Entertainment Weekly about nearly losing his daughter.

Johnny Depp says his 8-year-old daughter is now healthy and well following her hospitalization earlier this year. “Now every single millisecond is a mini-celebration,” the 44-year-old actor tells Entertainment Weekly in its Nov. 9 issue. “Every time we get to breathe in and exhale is a huge victory. She pulled through beautifully, perfectly, with no lasting anything.”

Lily-Rose, the daughter of Depp and French singer Vanessa Paradis, was admitted to a British hospital to receive treatment for an undisclosed ailment about three weeks after Depp started work on “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street,” Tim Burton’s adaptation of the Stephen Sondheim musical about a murderous barber.

“To say it was the darkest moment, that’s nothing,” Depp tells the magazine. “It doesn’t come close to describing it. Words are so small. But knowing that those people, Tim and the crew, shut down and stood by and waited … I didn’t know if I was coming back. I remember talking with Tim, saying, `Maybe you need to recast.’ Once we were given the all-clear, I had to dive back into the work,” he says. “I had to get back in there for Tim.”

It’s great the Depp has his priorities straight. He knew the only thing that mattered was being there for his daughter, and understood that his work didn’t really compare in importance. It’s also great of Tim Burton not to have recast Depp’s role. The early buzz on “Sweeny Todd” is that it will be great – but then again most Tim Burton stuff is. There was some gossip floating around for a while that Depp and Paradis were finally going to marry, nothing seems to have come of it. They seem to be a pretty secure family unit. It sounds like Lily-Rose has made a complete recovery, so congrats to them all.

It turns out there’s only so many excruciatingly ugly Carlos Santana-designed neckties a woman can take before she reaches her breaking point. After 34 years of marriage, the singer’s wife, Deborah, has decided to leave the famous guitarist. Apparently Santana also cheated on Deborah a handful of times during their marriage, but I’m placing the bulk of the blame on the ties. They make you look like you’re wearing a hallucination around your neck.

Carlos Santana and his wife of 34 years are divorcing, according to court documents. Deborah Santana, who in her 2005 memoir “Space Between the Stars” described her guitarist husband as being unfaithful, filed for divorce in Marin County Superior Court on Oct. 19, citing irreconcilable differences. Carlos Santana’s publicist, Michael Jensen, said the case is “a private matter and there is no comment.”

The musician has said he knew he made mistakes in his marriage. “I sincerely apologized to her and to my kids when I wasn’t in my right mind and did something hurtful,” Carlos Santana said after the memoir was published. “It has helped me become more humble and to try harder to be the man she wants me to be.”

The Santanas have also been business partners. They created the Milagro Foundation, a nonprofit organization that supports underprivileged children. Earlier this year, they announced plans to create three Mexican restaurants in the San Francisco Bay area named Maria, Maria after one of Carlos Santana’s Grammy-winning songs. The couple have three children, ages 17, 22 and 23.

When I read that Amy Winehouse actually showed up to the MTV Europe Awards, I was pretty surprised. She actually got on stage and sang. She didn’t cancel at the last minute like she has with about 3 out of 4 of her concerts recently. Several reviews called her performance “uninspired” but that’s pretty charitable. I’d call it a whole lot of something crap. She either forgot the words to her song or was slurring and/or drunk. It’s not uninspired, it’s unprofessional. Amy performed “Back to Black” and when you listen to the video, you can discern a single word she said. I listed to the song on Amazon to make sure that’s not how it’s supposed to sound. Several sites posting this clip are joking that she had a seizure right before the show, and I’m going to have to agree.

Amy Winehouse stumbled through her performance at the MTV Europe Music Awards on Thursday (November 1) shortly after giving a very brief acceptance speech when she won the Artists’ Choice honor. The singer — who was announced as a last-minute addition to the show when she canceled her planned performance at the mtvU Woodie Awards on November 8 — gave a brief “thanks” when she accepted the award, and later appeared to have difficulty remembering the words to her own song and danced unsteadily as she performed.

I’ve decided that Celebitchy is officially the most accurate pregnancy spotter on the planet. She was the first to guess Nicole Richie was pregnant, and now she’s beaten the tabloids by declaring Cate Blanchett pregnant a month before the actress confirmed it. Everyone has their skills; Celebitchy can spot the tiniest pudge on a person’s stomach, and I can… latch on to her mad skills and write articles confirming it. Yeah, that’s all I got.

Cate Blanchett is pregnant with her third child, the actress confirmed Saturday night in her native Australia, reports the Sydney Morning Herald. “Yes, I am,” Blanchett, 38, said at the Sydney premiere of her film Elizabeth: The Golden Age, according to the paper. Informed of rumors that she is carrying a boy, Blanchett reportedly responded: “You know more than me. It’s early days yet. It’s due in April.”

The actress and her writer-director husband, Andrew Upton, already have two sons: Dashiell John, 5, and Roman Robert, 3. As for expanding her family, Blanchett recently told W magazine that she was “not going to wait forever. … God, I’d love it to be now. I’d love it to be next week.”

Blanchett also confirmed that she will spend more time at home and less time traveling for the sake of their kids. She noted that Dashiell is five years old now, mentioning, “He needs to be settled, and I respect that.” I feel like I should send flowers or balloons or something… but probably to the bump spotter more than Blanchett. There are the Nicole Richie-esq moms of the world who drink, smoke, dye their hair and eat as much sushi as they please while pregnant, and then there are the Katie Holmes-esq moms of the world, who manage not to do those things AND just happen to run a major marathon eighteen months after giving birth. Sure it helps that she didn’t exactly have to strap Suri to her back while training (one would assume, though who the hell knows with those crazy Scientologists) but still, running a marathon – especially the New York City one – is running a marathon, and it’s freaking hard! I don’t care how many other luxuries you have in life that make it easier for you – if you run a marathon, I’m going to respect the heck out of you.

Only hours after walking the red carpet at the L.A. premiere of Lions for Lambs, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes hopped an east-bound private plane headed for Manhattan, where sources confirm to OK! that Katie is planning on taking part in Sunday’s New York City Marathon.

As OK! exclusively reported several weeks ago, after months of secretly training in predawn runs in Beverly Hills and Berlin, Suri’s mom is scheduled to make her first-ever marathon run this weekend. The 28-year-old actress, who celebrates her first wedding anniversary to Tom on Nov. 18, will join thousands of other masochist runners, including cyclist Lance Armstrong, in the race that begins at the foot of the Verrazano Narrows Bridge in Staten Island and works its way through Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, the Bronx and then back to Manhattan, where everyone collapses in exhaustion in Central Park.

Assuming Katie makes it all the way, she’ll have quite a welcoming committee at the finish line, as several members of the Holmes family are flying in from Ohio to cheer her on. They’ll join her superstar hubby at the Finish Live Banquet at Tavern on the Green where they can watch the race on monitors, get updates on racers — “Go Katie!” — and be just feet away from the racers as they clock in.”

I wasn’t really Katie Holmes’ biggest fan before this – what with the letting-yourself-be-brainwashed-by-Scientologists and the starring-in-Mad-Money-which-we-all-know-is-a-terrible-idea. But I have to say I think she’s pretty awesome right now. I set a goal a few weeks ago that in two years I will run half the New York City marathon. And that’s a freaking huge goal for someone who considers walking on her treadmill for half an hour pretty hardcore. Although I do wish I didn’t just put that out there for all the internet to hold me to, but there it is. So now I have extra respect for Katie Holmes – and the pain she’s about to go through. Well after all the waiting and wonder, an arrest has been made as a result of the abuse allegations at Oprah Winfrey’s South African girl’s school. The dormitory matron was arrested on charges of sexual and physical abuse, Crimen injuria (which is the crime of injuring another person’s dignity, and encompasses racial abuse and sexual offenses against children), and soliciting the girls to perform sexual acts. How in the world someone this terrible got through the screening process and was allowed to be around these girls is beyond me.

South African police have arrested a former dormitory employee at Oprah Winfrey’s leadership academy for girls on charges of abuse, including indecent acts. At least seven alleged victims have submitted statements about the woman, police said. “A former dormitory employee (27 years old) has been arrested yesterday by the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit on several charges of abuse,” a statement from police spokesman Superintendent Lungelo Dlamini read. “Several charges including alleged assault, indecent assault, crimen injuria and soliciting girls under age to perform indecent acts are being investigated against her. At least seven victims have already submitted statements.”

The suspect is being held by police and is expected to appear before a magistrate on Monday. “She has been charged by the police,” Dlamini told Reuters. The U.S. billionaire television magnate praised the police’s swift action after local media reports of abuse allegations at her school surfaced late last month. “I am grateful for their compassion and sensitivity to the girls during this difficult time. It means the world to me,” Winfrey said in a statement. It is my deepest hope that the accused is brought to justice and that this serves as a reminder that any time a child has the courage to step forward, it is our duty as adults to listen and take immediate action.”

Oprah also gave each of the girls a cell phone and her private number, with instructions that they are to call her with any worries or concerns. Something tells me it’s probably a number she had set up exclusively for the girls and not her home number, as I can imagine that would get on the internet in short order. Either way, she really handled this well. Several articles have said that – everything considered – the parents are very pleased with the way Oprah has stepped up, flown to South Africa several times, and gone out of her way to communicate with the girls’ parents directly. Celebitchy is going to be piiiiiiiiised, but I love Oprah even more now. Don’t tell.

Owen Wilson sure seems to be getting back into the swing of things. Rallying back from his suicide attempt two months ago, Owen has worked extensively with a sobriety coach, moved into a new bachelor pad, and done a healing ritual over the Grand Canyon. Now he seems to be focusing on returning to live as he knows it: partying with pretty girls. Nothing wrong with doing what you love, my friend.

He’s been hanging out in New York for a few days, and already Owen Wilson is becoming a familiar face at city hot spots – from lunching downtown at Café Habana to dining at Graydon Carter’s Waverly Inn with Sting and Lance Armstrong. And that was just Tuesday.

On Thursday night, the recovering star made an appearance at the Gramercy Park Hotel’s swanky Rose Bar after midnight. Says an observer: “He was chilling out, having some ginger ale.”

The night before, it was a Halloween party at the home of nightclub owner Chris Barish (one of the forces behind Marquee and Martini Park lounges), where he hung out with art dealer Tony Shafrazi. Wilson went as, well, himself, looking “rested” and “radiant,” and generally charming as he chatted with guests and didn’t drink, an observer tells PEOPLE.

Later that night, the actor was spotted hitting up Bungalow 8 – and it was a packed house, with stars like Mary-Kate Olsen, James Gandolfini and members of the Police (who performed earlier at Madison Square Garden). Also there: female dancers in police uniforms, gyrating under a tent.

Among the positive Owen Wilson stories out lately, there’s one that keeps floating around that – while still positive –is definitely a little weird, too. Supposedly Owen has been keeping the bathroom door open whenever he uses it – even in public. This is apparently an attempt to ward off any gossip that he could be doing inappropriate things in there. I will point out that Owen certainly has alone time not in the bathroom, where he could be doing inappropriate things. So I’m not sure why it’s so imperative that he make himself visible during this one event.

Owen Wilson has decided to leave the door open when he uses the bathroom to prove he is not using drugs. The actor decided on the unusual habit because people fear he is doing drugs behind closed doors.

Wilson has been keeping a low-key profile since his suicide attempt in August. The ‘Darjeeling Limited’ star has slowly stated coming back into the public eye by attended several events. He attended a ball in honor of pop culture artist Takashi Murakami on Sunday where he showed off his new policy.

“He was with a girl with blonde highlights, and he went to the bathroom and peed with the door open,” a source claims. When Wilson’s rep was asked about the incident, he replied, “Can you blame him? He’s dammed if he doesn’t. If he tries to protect himself from innuendo and lies, it gets used against him.”

Well that’s a whole lot of unusual. I’ll just let that go – I’m sure he’s going through stuff most of us can’t imagine, and he knows what he needs to do to stay safe. I really like Drew Carey. I don’t find him to be the funniest guy around, but he’s taken what life’s given him and worked with it pretty well. He’s a chubby dork and he works it like no other. He doesn’t pretend to be cooler than he is - I mean when you host “The Price is Right” how cutting edge can you be? Drew has started doing videos for the nonprofit Reason Foundation. His first video was about hellish Los Angeles traffic. Pretty mild topic, most people would agree with what he has to say. His second video? Legalizing medical marijuana. Probably a bit more controversial. I can’t help but wonder what his 73-year-old “Price is Right” viewers would think about that.

Drew Carey has his issues—with the federal government, that is. “I think it’s clear by now that the federal government needs to reclassify marijuana. People who need it should be able to get it—safely and easily,” Carey said, describing the point of “Drew Carey Defends Medical Marijuana,” the second installment of The Drew Carey Project, his ongoing short-form documentary series posted on reason.tv.

In the new video, Carey first stands on a Brentwood—”where O.J. used to live”—street corner and points out all the places, including a pharmacy, a liquor store and Starbucks, where you “can get anything you want to bring you up and down.” The former sitcom star then visits a West Hollywood facility that sells physician-prescribed pot, which is legal in California, to people suffering from a range of debilitating ailments, from chronic back pain to cancer. The video also features interviews with average, gainfully employed, middleclass people who use medical marijuana to ease what ails them, as well as with L.A. County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Steve Whitmore, who says that “dispensaries are low on the priority scale of law enforcement,” in terms of who is partaking of pot within those walls.

“I think it’s clear by now that the federal government needs to reclassify marijuana,” Carey, standing in a gas station parking lot, says in closing. “If that bothers you, it if makes you nervous that people are out there using marijuana to ease their pain, drive down to any old gas station in America like this one, buy yourself a nice, cold brew and pop the top. They really take the edge off.”

Drew Carey actually makes some pretty good points, in terms of how readily available much more dangerous drugs are. I’m not really going to throw myself into the old medical marijuana debate – we’ve already established that I am adorably naïve and randomly old-fashioned, so we’ll leave it at that. You know how there are those mothers that sacrifice so much for their kids that they lose a part of themselves? The ones that feel guilty if they do anything nice for themselves or take ten minutes to put on makeup in the morning? Well surprisingly, we don’t need to worry about Nicole Richie being one of those moms. While it turns out the reports of her smoking may or may not have been true (Nicole claims she wasn’t even in New York at the time, but the New York Post is standing by their story. Regardless of what you think of them, I still think the Post is a hell of a lot more reliable than Nicole Richie. Further reports of her not giving a crap about her future child have surfaced.

Nicole Richie has had enough of pregnancy, according to a report in this week’s edition of Star Magazine. The pint-sized mom-to-be, who was accused of recently smoking earlier this week, has been sunbathing, chilling in the jacuzzi, and dying her hair. All of which are major No-No’s for an expectant mother. “Nicole could be doing real damage to the child, without even knowing it,” a friend tells the weekly gossip rag. “She’s being very careless. She just doesn’t want to be pregnant anymore. She’s tired of it. The thrill has definitely worn off.” “Nicole feels like she’s been pregnant for years, not months!”

“Nicole was out sunbathing in Hawaii three days in a row when she was there for her birthday,” Star’s source says. “She also relaxed in the Jacuzzi-another no-no for someone who’s pregnant.” Other Richie insiders claim Nicole was spotted at the Neil George Salon in Beverly Hills getting her hair dyed. “Most hairdressers and doctors tell women not to dye their hair while they are expecting. But Nicole doesn’t seem to think the advice applies to her.”

The Star report also blasts Nicole for allegedly trying to keep her pregnancy weight gain to a minimum: “She’s just not eating enough…. She had body image issues before she was pregnant. She’s tired of her body growing , and she to be done with it all. She figures she’s doing the best she can, and if that isn’t good enough for other people, well, that’s just tough,” Nic’s friend reports. “Nicole is tired of being pregnant. She wants to have a normal body, be able to eat sushi and have a drink without everyone giving a hard time about it.”

Boy that really makes you think of how true that trite phrase “Sometimes your best isn’t good enough” really is. If that’s Nicole Richie’s best, it doesn’t have anything to do with “if it’s not good enough for other people” - it has to do with if it’s not good enough for her baby, and it’s not. I know a lot of commenters will disagree with me, but when I was forced to watch the Simple Life a few times, I found her to be much more obnoxious and rude than Paris Hilton. She’d always say really inappropriate, rude, and sexual things to people to make them uncomfortable, and then laugh at them. I read an article once that talked about her “cutting” humor – and that was the most charitable way I’ve ever heard it. Paris is just too dumb and vapid; Nicole has a little bit of intelligence (little bit, I said little bit) – just enough to know how to truly be mean. She’ll make a great mother.
