Halle Berry’s New Hairstyle

Halle Berry is set to shave her head for an upcoming film role, in ‘Nappily Ever After’.

The star plays a woman whose hair is starting to fall out, so she decides to shave it all. Afterward, she must deal with people’s perceptions of who she is and how her hair defined her.

Berry said her character “is forced to look at what beauty is, and it comes from inside.”

“I still struggle with this hair issue,” she said. “I’m going to get the lesson on film, and hopefully other women will get it, too.”

Halle is hardly the first actress to shave her head for a role - Demi Moore and Natalie Portman have both shed their curls for publicity. After all, it’s hardly compulsory in this day and age in make-up.

Perhaps this is an attempt to follow Charlize Theron and Nicole Kidman to Oscars glory - both actresses underwent physical transformations in their winning roles, for ‘Monster’ and ‘The Hours’ respectively.

Halle’s last few roles following ‘Monster’s Ball’ haven’t set the tone for winning - ‘Catwoman’ notable for winning her a worst actress award at the Razzies. Halle showed good grace and was the first actress ever to receive the award in person.

“You guys,” she said, as if overcome with emotion, “thank you so much. I never in my life thought I would be up here. It’s not like I ever aspired to be here.” She then held up her Oscar. “And no,” she insisted, “I don’t have to give this back. It has my name on it.”

Maintaining her straight face, and outfitted in a dazzling long, brown silk gown (similar yet less grand than what she wore on her big Oscar night), Berry went on to say: “I have so many people to thank, because you don’t win a Razzie without a lot of help from others.”

Among those she acknowledged: “Warner Bros., for putting me in a godawful piece of s— movie.” She also brought her manager out on stage. “Next time,” she advised him, “read the script.”

Perhaps things are looking up for Halle, earlier this week she was awarded a belated star on the Walk of Fame, and seems really comfortable in her own skin, declaring she will never get married again, and openly admitting to suicide attempts.

Halle is also a spokeswoman for Revlon, so maybe she just knows what we all suspect - she’s going to look beautiful with or without her hair.

  1. Sure would be nice if she had some actual talent to go with all this publicity. Man I really wish she would disappear. If for no other reason than to give a black actress with talent a chance in hollywood.

  2. I love her and I appreciate the fact that she’s had personal problems and is being open and honest about them. I think it helps other people who suffer from chronic depression.

She is a beautiful woman, inside and out.

  3. You have to have a really, really pretty face to pull off bald. I think she can do it.

  4. Geez Halle- could you have picked a tighter dress for bending down in front of the cameras? Seems like maybe somebody is really wanting some attention.
