The Daily Mail accessed Thomas Markle’s storage unit in Mexico

On Friday, the Daily Mail published a story about Thomas Markle which feels like something they’ve been sitting on for a while. That’s been a constant question underneath all of the reporting about Thomas Markle since October 22, when the Sun revealed that Tom Jr. found his father’s enormous stash of child p–n: what did the British media know and when did they know it? It’s an especially relevant question for the Daily Mail, given that their full-time reporter Caroline Graham was Thomas Markle’s near-constant babysitter/handler. Graham visited him in Mexico repeatedly, and she stayed close to him in the Philippines as well. But I digress. The Mail’s big exclusive on Friday is that they somehow accessed Thomas Markle’s storage unit in Mexico, and the unit was full of horrifying books, magazines and loose photos.

The Daily Mail has reported the Duchess of Sussex’s estranged father to the FBI after discovering a stash of child p—graphy in a storage unit he rented near his former home in Mexico.

…The Daily Mail traveled to Rosarito Beach, Mexico, to look into Thomas Markle’s past life there. The publication was informed that a storage unit had been rented and abandoned by Markle. Receipts seen by the Daily Mail confirm that he rented the 5ft by 10ft unit in 2017, six years after he moved to Rosarito, ten miles from the US border. Our reporter was granted access to the unit after Markle, the Daily Mail is told, failed to keep up with his lease-agreement payments for the past two years.

Our reporter made the disturbing discovery as police obtained a warrant to investigate child-sex images allegedly found in boxes of Markle’s possessions at his son’s home in the Philippines, where he lived after leaving Rosarito in January 2025. The discovery of the Mexican storage unit, three miles from his former home, marks another extraordinary development in a case that could see Markle facing ten to 12 years in jail if charged and convicted.

It was while he was living in Rosarito that his relationship with Meghan fell apart. In the lead up to her 2018 wedding, he was caught secretly collaborating with a paparazzi photographer to stage a series of pictures at a time when Prince Harry was urging the media to leave his future father-in-law alone.

Most of the photos found among 20 storage boxes in the Rosarito unit appear to have been taken when Markle was in his 40s or 50s. He was 43 when he and Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, divorced in 1987 after eight years of marriage.

[From The Daily Mail]

Not to get too Olivia Benson about this, but a predator with this volume of material in storage seems to indicate that he most likely kept a lot of it out in the open when he lived in Rosarito. He had reporters (including Caroline Graham) coming in and out of his Rosarito home constantly for years. I simply find it hard to believe that none of those reporters had any idea about any of this before October 2026. It’s getting more and more difficult to believe that the goal was always to sit on Thomas Markle’s true depravity until they could somehow get Meghan to go to her father.

Beyond all of that, it’s absolutely wild that the Daily Mail got into Thomas’s storage unit, photographed everything inside of it, reported that they got into it, and are now positioning themselves as on the side of justice. They just royally f–ked up the chain of evidence.

Thank God he never walked her down the aisle for the royal wedding.

  2. Nanea says:

The Fail effed up the chain of evidence because they needed to make sure that the authorities wouldn’t find any traces of their collaboration with Toxic Tom — such as contracts, bank statements and any other kinds of receipts that might prove beyond reasonable doubt how much money they paid to Bad Dad.

    • Miranda says:

Came here to say basically the same thing. Their interfering looks quite deliberate to those of us who have been calling out the Fail’s sketchy as hell relationship with Toxic Tom for years.

    • BeanieBean says:

Seems to me that when/if the Mexican authorities do conduct an investigation they’re going to have tough questions for the DM. Looking forward to that. 😠

  3. IdlesAtCranky says:

There isn’t a single level of Dante’s Hell that is deep enough or cold enough for these people.

Honestly the Daily Fail needs to be shut down as a public menace. And there are several Markles who evidently deserve serious jail time.

But the real question is: will any of the responsible authorities do anything at all for the children who are the victims here?

  4. Gemini says:

Mail’s relationship with TM should be part of the police investigation. No doubt about it.

  5. pottymouth pup says:

This was really dumb on their part because it makes it pretty clearly to anyone with a brain that they knew about all of this – they knew where the storage was and were easily able to access the unit directly. There needs to be an investigation of exactly what they knew, when they knew it coupled with a forensic financial audit. Based on everything I’m seeing right here: they knew and, since they were aware that Meghan was notified/notified Tom she’d been informed and why she cut all ties meaning they couldn’t use this info to blackmail/hurt Meghan, opted to use this information for leverage to be able to make Tom a long-term use weapon against Meghan & Harry. In fact, they were probably happy it worked out this way because this allowed them the ability to use of Tom & and incredibly willing Samantha against Meghan for years whereas outing Tom would have, for all intents & purposes, been closer to a one & done attack. This also raises the question as to whether, in addition to bankrolling Scammy’s nuisance law suits, they also have something on Samantha as well (Samantha’s knowledge of her father’s PDFile activities vs something specific on her, or whether Samantha was just happy to be an attack dog out of jealousy & for some degree of “fame”/money)

    • Mightymolly says:

All of this. Especially if they had knowledge he was producing it. There was a rumor that some of the content in the Philippines was filmed at his place in Mexico. Who knows what’s true right now but if these reporters knew and concealed it, that has to be a crime in one of these friggin’ countries.

Like, even the UK must have some applicable law here. A UK citizen working for a UK owned publication actively concealing child porn operation while in the payroll of said UK publication?

    • suoutdoors says:

In 2017 (!) the Mail published an interview with the storage-owner, who knew terrible Tom well, because he came around every month. But now they “discovered” the unit? A unit not paid for in two years, but still kept unchanged? Guys, this math isn’t mathing at all! Keep your popcorn ready, there is more to come. A lot!

      • Lover says:

There is no legal way the Mail should have been let into that unit, regardless of whether TM was paying or not. The Mail bribed someone at the storage company or broke into it.

    • Megan says:

A child SA scandal would have been their most potent tool in an attempt to stop the wedding. No tab (nor any member of the BRF) would have sat on this info. With a little leg work they could have easily discovered the storage locker in Mexico. I’m sure the Fail has people turning up at every storage facility in LA looking for another one. I do wonder if it is legal to photograph SA materials if you are not law enforcement. Aren’t they technically trafficking them by bringing them back to the UK?

      • Mightymolly says:

I have zero legal training but I wouldn’t get within 100 feet of something like that. Report it and back TF away. If it was photographed and transported back to the UK where other people saw it that has GOT to be a crime in the UK.

      • pottymouth pup says:

I didn’t say that they knew of this before the wedding to be able to stop it but they clearly knew about this long before now, at least as soon as they had someone embedded with Tom. The questions need to be asked and a forensic audit of the finances needs to be done

      • BeanieBean says:

I’m sure hoping several members of the DM staff find themselves in front of a judge–or several judges in different jurisdictions–explaining their actions. They’re complicit, from what I can see.

  6. Lady Digby says:

Daily Mail need to be accountable for their payment and platforming of T Markle since 2018. Their reporter Caroline Graham embedded herself in his life as trusted confidante. How much did the pay this man? She READ Meghan ‘s December 2025 so she KNEW then about child abuse claims yet continued and doubled down on public support of herself and the Daily Mail for him. How could she do that? She told her bosses at the paper so they knew too but it was the eve of Prince Harry and others taking their publishers to court over phone hacking etc. TMarkle was being used to cause Meghan and Harry under maximum stress prior to that big trial

They didn’t want to EXONERATE Meghan at any time but especially not on the eve of a big trial. They couldn’t turn on TMarkle and discredit him by admitting they were wrong to use him as a battering ram against his own daughter. Unethical behaviour from start to finish platforming and funding a man alleged serial predator of children: despicable conduct on part of reporter and newspaper! Their misconduct is ading and abetting a criminal if they KNEW he was an active child abuser, said nothing except FINANCE him! Who with any shred of decency does that ?

When is Daily Mail going to be FORCED to answer for platforming and championing this disgusting individual?

    • Debbie says:

Well, how can you blame Caroline Graham? After all, he was “like a father to her.” (Yuck.)

      • Lady Digby says:

Last Monday Daily Mail had Caroline Graham interview with T Markle responding to the allegations and how Meghan’s letter delivery was videoed by the reporter and friend who was, as ever, at his bedside. She was defending him on the front page of the Daily Mail last week!!
Who does that without any reflection that they should let the investigation proceed without championing a possible abuser?
Reverse ferret as other “fearless” DM reporters trample over evidence in gaining access to his lockup!
How are the Mail and Graham going to justify platforming this disgusting man as recently as Monday?
Call the wambulance for Graham, he lied to her for years if that what she’s going to claim!
Not good enough or believable. Not much of an investigative reporter is she? If she didn’t know or suspect before then she KNEW in December 2025 about the child abuse allegations then! And still did nothing!

  7. Lili says:

How will the police know the Mail didn’t put it there? They won’t know for sure unless the Mail filmed everything from when they first heard about it and probably not even then. He won’t serve time in Mexico…

All they needed to do was tell the police that they had received a tip it was there and could they, pretty please, report on it after the police opened it up.

  8. Eurydice says:

I don’t know about Mexico and it all depends on the reputation of the storage company, but storage units don’t usually stay untouched for two years if the rent hasn’t been paid. The contents tend to get auctioned off or sold after about 3 months or so. And the DM can’t just suddenly gain access. They either bought the contents or have had a key all along. Just because Tom didn’t pay the rent doesn’t mean the rent wasn’t being paid by somebody else. If the DM has had access to the unit, does that mean they have some kind of ownership over the contents?

    • Brassy Rebel says:

The DM seemed to be well aware of Markle’s whereabouts and activities at all times, thanks to his handler Caroline Graham, an employee of the tabloid. It really raises serious questions about how complicit they are in Markle’s alleged crimes.

      • Eurydice says:

Exactly. You can’t tell me Caroline didn’t snoop through every drawer and closet in his house and hack her way through his laptop.

    • Jay says:

That’s an excellent point – someone must have been paying the bills. The owner of the storage lock up wouldn’t have just let everything sit for two years, especially knowing that it belonged to Meghan’s father. There could have been mementos and artifacts from Meghan’s childhood that could be sold for a tidy profit.

And we know the British media doesn’t mind interfering with an investigation – see the despicable hacking of Milly Dowler’s voicemails by the News of the World.

    • Dilettante says:

What’s unsaid is that palms were greased.

    • BeanieBean says:

      My questions exactly.

  9. Mightymolly says:

    1. Why isn’t Tom in handcuffs being extradited right now?

    2. DM reporters touched his stash? Who could be that stupid? You see shit like that you back away and call the police immediately. If there’s now suspicion that they planted it, then they need to be charged with possession as well. You do NOT mess around with this kinda thing. Mygawd.

    • sunnyside up says:

If Tom jr planted it he could be prosecuted as well. Is he stupid enough?

    • sunnyside up says:

If Tom jr planted it he could be prosecuted as well. Is he stupid enough? It would be funny if the DM got done for handling it.

    • Graphinya Heather says:

How else could they remove any evidence of payments to him, or worse, knowledge of the contents they were holding off on to hurt Meghan?

  10. Amy Bee says:

The DM can’t be the ones reporting this. I have no doubt that the DM knew the type of person he was for a long time but kept it quiet in favour of bashing Meghan. The DM is just an evil institution and they have no right being upset that Harry and Meghan don’t want to have anything to do with them.

  11. Brassy Rebel says:

This is just shocking. Markle wasn’t paying the storage fees so the DM was allowed to go in and rummage through his trash? And this is after the revelations about his possession of illegal images. Nice to know that the police are still not on top of any of this. That storage unit should have been locked down and bolted until law enforcement could conduct a proper search with a warrant. It was no secret that Markle lived in Mexico for an extended period. Probably for the same reasons he had been living in SE Asia.

  12. Interested Gawker says:

“He keeps many of his possessions in a storage complex nearby”

Ruth Styles & Martin Gould -4 Dec 2017

The Daily Mail wrote an article as early as 2017 specifically interviewing a storage facility owner about Markle directly in Mexico. They may have kept an eye on any and all of his storage places from the beginning. What if ‘go to Mexico’ was to get Meghan near him AND his grotesque material, tie her to the story in way they could accuse her of knowing/helping him. JKnife was ‘helping her’ craft the letter the DM was promised H&M wouldn’t sue over. What if that was the real goal but she cut her father off and they couldn’t arrange it? It wasn’t enough to embarrass her with TM’s behaviour they needed that photo of them together to launch a million ’what did Meghan know/do articles chaining her to her father’s side.

When Meghan said she lost her father on Oprah it was a far heavier and loaded admission than anyone on the outside could have known.

    • Magdalena says:

I think Knauf probably promised the Mail that she wouldn’t sue them because he and William had been holding the letter over her head, threatening to release it to the public if she sued. Then they got really mad because she went ahead and sued and won even after William sent Knauf to tamper with evidence and lie to the court.

The damages the Fail paid to Meghan must have been astronomical despite them only focussing on the £1 she accepted for the least important part, because they ramped up the already hysterical attacks on her and have been escalating the abuse every damn day since then.

Remember: they had to agree to pay Meghan substantial damages because she and her lawyers had asked the court to base the damages on a “statement of accounts” and the Fail did NOT want to have to turn over its financial records to Meghan’s lawyers or the court. She had them over a barrel, so they had to pay a fortune to avoid doing this. It’s one of the reasons they keep insisting that she’s broke – they know damn well that she’s not. 😀

  13. aquarius64 says:

The only thing Bad Dad, and the people who went into the storage unit need to do is get criminal defense lawyers now. Toxic Tom can get up to 12 years in a Filipino prison for this, Graham and the Fail minions may have exposure for evidence tampering anf obstruction of justice.

  14. Mightymolly says:

H & M really can compete for who has the worst paternal family. Not a contest anyone wants to win but it’s crazy that the Andrew and Tom revelations were happening at the same time, even if we didn’t know it then.

  15. Siri says:

The Daily Mail is obviously complicit and knew about the child abuse allegations all along. Thomas Markle was the useful idiot to harass Meghan with. I think the son knew about this and so did Kensington Palace. I think the matter was originally covered up because of Harry, not Meghan, but when it became obvious that Harry wasn’t leaving Meghan, a plan was put in place. I don’t think Charles ever wanted this to come out, but I am side eyeing Kensington Palace. Things fell apart when junior stopped being paid or when certain royals became desperate after H & M moved back to the UK and didn’t get all the boo’s the royalists and some royals were looking forward to. I don’t think the bombshell information had the effect they expected it to have because Meghan kept receipts. That’s when the tap dancing started. I find it interesting how quickly they tried to make this a Meghan issue instead of putting the blame on the highest level of police in the UK who mishandled this, the Daily Mail who had a reporter shadowing Thomas for years, and William who quickly recused himself of knowing about the situation even though his office would have gotten the information before Meghan.

How on earth did Thomas Markle’s ex-wife even know who to contact about him in the UK? It seems to me that she would have contacted the FBI first with the letter and they would have told her what to do. I think she contacted the Daily Mail, or rather they contacted her since they were the ones who had their “scouts” out interviewing anyone and everyone who could have ever had contact with Meghan during her lifetime. I think the story broke before they were ready to break it. If junior hadn’t been cut off, I think their plans would have panned out the way they wanted, but someone neglected to pay him, not realizing how much info he actually had. I think it was supposed to be Tom’s and the Daily Mail’s little secret until it could be weaponized against Meghan, probably after Thomas’ death.

    • Interested Gawker says:

“I think the story broke before they were ready to break it.“

I suspect so too and they deserve it, there’s no honour among thieves. The step sister was bankrolled in her nuisance lawsuits by somebody with deep pockets, this might shake loose all kinds of creatures as this gets bigger. One perversity of the BM’s rabid need to produce all this over coverage of Meghan in a bid to control her narrative and public attitudes towards her is extricating themselves out of this story is going to be pretty impossible and some of these other countries won’t carry the BM and BRF’s water as this goes forward.

      • Ciotog says:

My own tinfoil tiara theory is that someone, in the media or KP, paid Tom Jr. to go public with these allegations to try to hurt Meghan and Harry after their appearance in Nottingham. There is absolutely no way that Tom Jr. didn’t know what his father was before this year, either. What they didn’t bargain for is the Sussexes making the statement they did, and keeping receipts.

      • Interested Gawker says:

“ someone, in the media or KP, paid Tom Jr. to go public with these allegations to try to hurt Meghan and Harry after their appearance in Nottingham”

I think you’re on the right track with that, that he posed with the stuff in an exclusive to a tabloid doesn’t sound like doing it out of moral imperative.

But that becomes interesting as to who wanted what out of it. KP burnt DM’s principal doing this so this may have become palace against palace now too in terms of containment. The palaces and the BM don’t want to be linked back to this situation if they can’t have control the outcome. By mentioning the letter and roping the Met and the royals out of the starting gate Meghan tossed the grenade back at The Sun/KP and BP might catch strays.

    • Tis True, Tis True says:

I’m wondering if they felt they had to keep things quiet until Roslyn Markle. Also curious where the 2017 rental of the storage unit fits in the Harry and Meghan relationship timelines.

  16. Lady Digby says:

Apologies this should have been my first post.
I want to complain about Caroline Graham and Daily Mail and their possible suppression of the child abuse allegations being faced by TMarkle contained in December 2025 letter.
Under IPSO’s regulations regarding third-party complaints, general members of the public cannot usually file a complaint about press intrusion or privacy violations on behalf of someone else.
If Daily Mail editor Caroline Graham read Meghan’s confidential December 2025 letter, the grounds and limitations for an IPSO complaint are structured by specific rules:

    1. The Direct Affected Party Rule (Privacy and Harassment)

IPSO rules state that complaints under Clause 2 (Privacy) or Clause 3 (Harassment) of the Editors’ Code can only be taken forward if they are submitted by the person directly affected, or by their authorised representative.
    • If you are a member of the public: IPSO will reject your complaint because your own privacy was not breached, and you are not a legal representative of the Duchess of Sussex or Thomas Markle.
    • If Meghan, Duchess of Sussex files: Her legal team would have strong grounds to complain under Clause 2 (Privacy). Opening or reading a letter marked private, or intercepting communications at a hospital bedside to gather information, constitutes an intrusion into a person’s private correspondence.

  17. QuiteContrary says:

Holy hell, don’t the British tabs consult their lawyers before pulling stunts like this??

  18. BeanieBean says:

This makes no sense: ‘Our reporter was granted access to the unit after Markle, the Daily Mail is told, ….’

The DM was told by their reporter that the reporter was granted access? Um, isn’t that reporting? More to the point, how did your reporter know about the storage unit? Would this be the same reporter who visited him often, lived with him, called him a father figure? That reporter? And I’m guessing per the lease agreement if you don’t keep up the payments the storage unit place now owns your stuff–but why would they hang onto it for two years? Don’t these places usually hold public auctions of abandoned units?
