I wanted to like Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade. I wanted to think that they were really in love and that nothing shady every happened between them. Not so much. Dwyane and his ex-wife had major drama and most people believe that Gabrielle was the “homewrecker” in that situation. While his divorce was drawn out over the course of several years, he and Gabrielle were slightly on-and-off, and he ended up fathering a kid with a female friend. Gabrielle then took him back (if they were even apart) and they got engaged last year. And now they’re married.
From Being Mary Jane to being married! Actress Gabrielle Union, 41, star of the hit BET drama about a woman unlucky in love, found her own happy ending Saturday, marrying long-time boyfriend Miami Heat shooting guard Dwyane Wade, 32.
The pair wed in Miami in front of an intimate crowd of family and friends. Wade’s two children from a previous marriage and a nephew he’s raising helped Wade propose back in December.
John Legend performed at the ceremony, and the bride wore a romantic Dennis Basso gown. Wade wore customized Dsquared2, his personally designed Wedding Collection bowtie from The Tie Bar and a boutonniére by Floral Fix. This is the second marriage for both Wade and Union.
The couple set up a 1930s era juke joint for party guests, serving Vanilla Puddin’ Chardonnay as the official white wine for the wedding. Cheers to the newlyweds!
You can see part of Gabrielle’s Dennis Basso gown here – it’s strapless and seems to have a ruched bodice or something. She looks beautiful, for sure, but the vibe I’m getting is cookie-cutter bridal. White strapless gown, pretty veil, cream roses. Etc. TMZ has some details about the locale – apparently, they got married at a famous “moated castle” in Miami. That’s why there are no pap photos from the wedding – the property is very exclusive and heavily guarded. Plus, Gabby and Dwyane asked all of their guests to sign confidentiality agreements and agree not to post any wedding photos on social media. One official wedding portrait has already ended up in People Magazine though, so maybe they’re selling their wedding photos as an exclusive?

She really is a beautiful woman. I guess she had a lot of years invested in him. I don’t find him appealing.. but every woman has that man that no matter what HE is the one.

Well good luck to them. How she marries a man nine years her junior who impregnated another woman during their relationship is beyond me. She is either extremely: in love, in delusion or simply doesn’t care what he does as long as he married her. Marriage is definitely not what it used to be.

Right! I don’t know how these women can look past it. Especially since it is obvious they were not on a damn break. I do think it was hilarious that Ludacris’ no good ass was at the wedding too.

I agree with every post above. A child was brought into the world while they were on a 7 week break. Gabrielle goes on TV to say the break was her fault. Wha?????
She is a stepmom to an infant born not out of any real relationship. Add that to two children from his first marriage, where Dwayne Wade was allegedly financially, verbally and physically abusive to his wife Siohvaughn. The wife was actually physically abused while pregnant with the second child Zion.
The pattern of infidelity started while they were in college and married. After being drafted to the Miami Heat team his infidelity, physical and verbal abuse skyrocketed into another orbit.
He started seeing Gabrielle while married or separated and eventually Gabrielle was subpoenaed to appear in court for harassment against Siohvaughn. You can listen to Siohvaughn’s detailed interview to hear what happened to her.
Dwayne is a messy dude. Gabrielle is STARTING married life with this going on. I cannot even wish her well with this dude. All the signs are there for her to reconsider spending a lifetime with this dude.

I think people came up with the term “break babies” as a face-saving measure for the cheated-on women to take the love rat back, especially if THEY were the other women.
We’ll see, but this is shadier than the old oak tree.
I’ve always liked her a lot. It makes me very sad to see her let any guy treat her this way.

Yep, she knows what she’s getting. I worked for an NBA team for several years, and my conservative estimate is that at least 80% of the players are “playing” on the side. It was gross, and like the longer-term side pieces, the groupies just didn’t care if they were married either.
And how you get them is how you lose them when it comes to cheating, so she should definitely know what to expect.

It’s actually very far south in what would be considered “rural” farm and horse country in So Florida. The area is called the Redlands and a very wealthy guy fulfilled his dream of having a tacky giant castle-like house on a faux-island surrounded by a dredged up moat.
Of all the lovely places here in Miami, I can not believe THAT is where they got married.

Almondjoy, Dwyane is actually the second baller she has married. She married a football player whose name escapes me and was married to him for a few years. I am going to ask the question everyone has been afraid to ask: Was Lebron James invited to their nuptials?

Never mind all the craziness of this marriage…the “cookie cutter bride” thing jumped out at me here, too.
I used to work for a bridal magazine and I really believe that the emphasis on weddings that “express your individual personality” are just a way to sell more junk to women. My mom just agreed to get married at a hotel 40 years ago and showed up–no idea what the flowers would look like, what the cake would taste like, etc. When I got married, I spent a year-and-a-half DIY-ing the place cards and arranging the rental contract for the special chairs the guests would sit on, etc. We spent so much money and I spent so much time (on top of my fairly demanding job) planning this wedding because I felt like I had to have a wedding that *expressed me*.
With distance, I am skeptical of the idea that a woman (and let’s face it, in most hetero unions, it’s the woman who views the wedding as an expression of her taste and worth) should buy into the wedding industrial complex notion of spending money toward “self expression”.
She should have left his ass when he impregnated another woman. Now she looks stupid. I give them five years. She’ll probably pop out a baby. She can do better.
It’s hard to be truly happy for her knowing that he did what he did. If she’s happy, I guess that is all that matters. I could never forgive my boyfriend/husband if he had a child while we were in a relationship. How can you look him in the eyes and profess your love to him, in front of guests that know the situation he put himself and you through, honestly and totally? It’s so confusing. At the end of the day, it’s really their business and if she can look past that, it’s whatever. It’s just too bizarre for my taste.
She is such a beautiful woman, but I’m dismayed that she could be someone who has an affair with a married guy and also accepts his sleazy behavior. I just don’t get it.
And the worst part about is on-a-break baby, is that he’s clearly not using protection. Ick. She’s going to have a bunch of new step-kids and STD’s by the time this is over.

No matter how many Instagrams and press releases they put out, they all pale to Brangelina. People and other celeb mags are holding out for the Jolie-Pitt pics for their covers; they’ll take the rest of these for insets.
I think Dwayne Wade is fine, too. I would hit that so hard under the right circumstances (his being unmarried and not being a serial cheater, etc.) I think he’s very intelligent, too, and has a heart, but he compartmentalizes how he treats women so that his behavior with them is not on his radar of right and wrong. It’s only dong radar: that looks good; I can get that; I will get that, etc. I’m sure he’s a good father to his sons and nephews, too. I also believe he’s embarrassed about his latest indiscretion. He never would have married Gabby if not for his P.R. concerns, in my opinion. She’s in love with a love rat.
Or, maybe Gabby discovered the fountain of youth in Wade. If that’s the case, maybe that’s why she married him.

Congrats to them despite all of the drama of their messy relationship. No couple is perfect but we’ll see what happens down the line. Gabby is an absolutely beautiful and breathtaking bride. I follow her IG and she’s pretty hilarious.
