Victoria Beckham got a choppy bob: cute and chic?

Victoria Beckham arrives back to her hotel in NYC

Just days after premiering the autumn/winter collection of her namesake fashion line (and crushing my Spice Girls reunion dreams in the process), Victoria Beckham debuted a cute new haircut – an above-the-shoulders bob.

Hairstylist to the stars Ken Paves made the chop. He was in attendance at the Sunday runway show at New York Fashion Week, where Victoria was rocking a low-slung bun. He shared a pic of the new ‘do on Instagram with the caption, “That’s a wrap NYC! No better way for me to go than a fresh cut for my inspiring and beautiful friend Victoria Beckham!” He also posted a photo where he’s embracing Victoria at her NYFW show before he cut her hair.

So proud of you @victoriabeckham X

As for the new cut, I think it looks great on her. The layers really frame her face nicely. I think the tousled locks work as a contrasting element to her very structured fashions. If I could rock a bob, I would bring a photo of her cut to my hairstylist.

Although I could hardly scrape enough dough together to afford one of her Target collection blouses, Victoria is one of my style icons. She is also serving as a style advisor to her new friend, Meghan Markle. According to Vanity Fair, the former Spice Girl is helping Meghan put together a wardrobe fit for a royal family member. A source told the magazine, “They get along well and have been in touch recently. Meghan really likes Victoria’s style and was keen to pick her brains about pulling together a working wardrobe. She loves Victoria’s elegant but smart dresses, so expect her to wear one very soon.”

Meghan wore a cream-colored cashmere sweater from Victoria’s collection for one of her official engagement pictures and has let it be known that she’s a fan of the designer’s dresses and fitted trousers. Could she be sporting some VB fashions on her big day? Victoria, whose fashion line has been struggling as of late, could certainly use the exposure. We’ll have to wait until May to see.

It looks great on her. Makes her look younger. Very cute.
I would so cut my hair that way… hey I just might.

I got pretty much this exact haircut last Saturday lol. My hair is curlier though, and it’s a little longer in the front. The length is somewhere between a lob and a bob. I highly recommend it! It’s so light and fun and flirty!

When my son was very small, I used to take him to the local hairdresser in the small town where we lived, as his hair was very tightly curled. She had this cut way back then. I used to watch her moving around as she cut his hair, and just loved the movement of the choppy bits and how they’d catch the light. I always wanted that cut, but think my hair is too curly. I think the style looks fabulous on Victoria. It’s so fresh and makes it look as if she’s had a makeover without having had a makeover.

I agree, cute haircut but awful outfit.

Oooh, so that’s why Meghan’s pants—ahem… trousers—have been too long. Victoria likes that look. It’s cute for VB and her pap walks. I don’t like it for actually doing work. I like VB’s clothes, but that’s because I’m a big fan of Roland Mouret as well.

i love her haircut, but I fear it is one of those that needs professional styling or ends up looking more messy than stylish.

So we have Victoria to thank for Meghan’s long hems……

I do not think I would trust Victoria Beckham to design such an important wedding dress. Her street style is great, but a royal wedding dress is another dimension.

    • Esmom says:

Yes, I can attest that amateur styling doesn’t cut it with this cut. Which is why I always end up pulling it back into a (now tiny) ponytail. Which defeats the whole purpose of the haircut. Sigh.

She looks great although I am not liking that green pants ensemble. It gives me a Chairman Mao vibe.

I LOVE that hair cut on her. The proportions work perfectly with her face.

Victoria’s fashion line is struggling? I have not heard that. I thought it was doing well.

    • Bearears says:

It’s never done well. And her husband has been bailing it out for years.

    • Yup, Me says:

I hadn’t heard that either. Maybe she should transition to capsule collections rather than full fashion lines. I like her stuff when I’ve paid attention to it in the past- I appreciate the clean lines (I also like Roland Mouret’s stuff).

I love the haircut. She always looks great with short hair

  7. Liberty says:

Love the cut on her — but am I the only person who got a sort of Anna Wintour Jr hit from the first photo?

    • Esmom says:

I know what you mean with the sunglasses but AW’s hair is severely blunt and, imo, unflattering. Posh’s is much softer looking and more flattering.

  8. Nicole says:

I always thought she looked better with shorter hair

    • AnnaKist says:

Some people just do, don’t they, Nicole? I cannot, and never have been able to, pull off a short cut for nuts. Yet my younger sister just looks ridiculous with the long hair she’s been sporting for the last few years. I think she grew it because it’s so much easier to just bun it or scrape it back into a ponytail, but it does her no favours. She looks fantastic with short hair, no matter the style.

  9. greenmonster says:

I think it looks great. Love short hair. I just got back from the hairdresser ten minutes ago with a blunt bob. My hair is as straight as it can be, so I don’t like choppy bobs on me – it always looks as if I have only three strands of hair.

    It’s cute.

  11. gabbie says:

i love victorias style, she always looks chic.

you godda give it to her, she turned a few sketches into a brand valued at $133 million. people get caught up on “she lost 4 million in 2017!” without remembering in 2017 the company could have taken that hit and been okay. having a brand is hard. very few high fashion brands coast by.

  12. DavidBowie says:

I love her new haircut. I am wanting to chop my hair off…may take this to my stylist. Wish I could pull off that jumpsuit. I’d look like an olive if I wore it.

  13. Becks says:

I love the haircut. It looks great on her. I’m another fan of her general style – even when she wears something that I would not wear (like that green jumpsuit) I still think she wears her clothes, they don’t wear her.

  14. LittlefishMom says:

Love it! She always has great haircuts. She has great hair!

  15. MissMarierose says:

I like her new hairstyle. I’m sorry to hear her fashion line is struggling; I’ve always thought it was really tailored and chic.

  16. Lucy says:

I love it! I’ve been thinking of getting the same cut for a while now.

  17. raincoaster says:

I have that haircut, and all praise be to Beckham for ridding it of its soccer mom associations.

  18. IMUCU says:

I got that cut last spring after always having my hair long. I finally had to because my long hair had gotten so straggly (it really showed at the ends) from hair loss associated with my autoimmune disease. Turns out I should have never waited to cut my hair, I got and still get compliments on it regularly! For me there isn’t too much needed styling either, my hair likes to fall into this shape pretty well most of the time. I do miss my long pony tail a bit though, but overall I like the cut and find it easy. Even my husband who always liked long hair loves it! So don’t wait if you are thinking about it, it really is a fun and flirty bob! 🙂
