Justin Timberlake fired his publicist after his poorly-received Halftime show

There are a few pieces of Justin Timberlake news, and I can’t help but feel like they’re all related. First off, Justin is releasing a book. It’s called Hindsight & All the Things I Can’t See in Front of Me (eyeroll on that title). It comes out on October 30, and it will include photos from his life, his various tours and recording sessions, plus Justin wrote “anecdotes, reflections, and observations on his life and work to give readers more context behind what inspires him and what goes into producing a highly orchestrated live show and tour.” Basically it’s a book about Justin, written by Justin, all about Justin’s life. JUSTIN JUSTIN JUSTIN.

So is this related to his book? Apparently, JT has fired his publicist Sonia Muckle. They’ve worked together for – no joke – the better part of two decades.

This man of the woods is now flying solo. Justin Timberlake has parted ways with his publicist, Sonia Muckle, after two decades, multiple sources confirm to Us Weekly exclusively.

“Justin wasn’t happy with Sonia after the Super Bowl,” one source says, adding that “the last straw” was the mixed reviews that followed the February 2 release of the singer’s fifth album, Man of the Woods. A second source tells Us that Muckle is “staying positive, but is obviously hurt.”

Timberlake worked with Muckle since his days as a member of ‘NSync. The now-defunct boy band (which also consisted of Lance Bass, JC Chasez, Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick) was formed in 1996 and released its fourth and final album, Celebrity, in 2001. Muckle previously worked as a publicist for Timberlake’s ex-girlfriend Britney Spears.

What did Muckle have to do with his sad Halftime performance? Was she the one who told him he should be the one to pay tribute to Prince? I doubt it. And there’s no way to massage that with PR – his Halftime performance sucked. And if he wasn’t happy with those crappy reviews, just wait until he sees the reviews for his book! Still, it’s not like JT will be “flying solo” now – he’s already lined up a new publicity team at Sunshine Sachs. Which is the same firm which represents Janet Jackson. *cough*

  1. Melania says:

The only person who deserves to be blamed for the Super Bowl fiasco is Justin.

  2. T says:

Typical privileged person behaviour. The blame is on anyone else buy him.

  3. manda says:

I have been tired of JT for a while now….

  4. Valiantly Varnished says:

Well JT has a history of blaming others and not taking responsibility for his own choices and actions so it isn’t that surprising that he would blame his publicist for his crappy half-time show.

  5. Jane says:

So , what is his book about? 20 years of living the life of a ego maniac?

    • Tracy says:

I hope he doesn’t use the Brittany angle. That was getting tiring when he was promoting his first two releases

  6. Digital Unicorn says:

He has a face that you just want to punch, repeatedly. He has this perpetual drug out crazy look in the eyes but that could be just the narcissism.

Now that his star is fading and Jessica’s is on the rise I wonder how long it will be before he dumps her – he won’t be able to handle being married to someone more successful than him.

  7. Rose says:

He’s a fool. It’s not his publicist’s fault he is out of touch and self-centered. #neverforget

  8. Joannie says:

I think he’s a very talented show man but his halftime show sucked. He’s to blame!

  9. me says:

Doesn’t it seem like when a celeb feels like their “fame” is dwindling, they go and write a book? Who are his fans though? I’m just wondering. I mean I’d go to his show if I got free tickets since I’ve never been to any concert in my life…but I would never pay to see him. It’s so weird because I remember a time when I really liked N’sync. I couldn’t wait to see them on TRL lol. Now, to be honest, there is just something about Justin that rubs me the wrong way. I think maybe he should just permanently join the cast of SNL. He seems to shine there.

    • Tiffany says:

When NSYNC was a big deal, I took a tween family member to see them in concert. No joke, it was one of the best shows that I have ever seen.

And it saddens me that JC did not have a bigger career because I walked away extremely impressed with him. He should be a bigger deal.

    • Digital Unicorn says:

He recently mocked Brit for her Vegas shows – this twat will be lucky if her gets a Vegas residency, he doesn’t have the fanbase he thinks he does.

      • Kayleigh says:

Yesssssssssss. He thinks he’s this hot thing, while Britney has just been moving on, doing her amazing career.

  10. Mo' Comments Mo' Problems says:

    LMFAO. Boy, BYE.

Justin Timberlake needs to fire himself because he’s a trash human and professional. He’s the only one to blame (and whoever hired him???).

He needs to Just TimberFADE away.

  11. detritus says:

A PR change doesn’t fix the fact that he sucks as a person and his musical appeal is waning.

  12. Kit says:

Are we sure she didn’t quit?

  13. JennyJazzhands says:

Publicists arrange music and teach choreography now?

  14. Mara says:

Would a male publicist be described as ‘hurt’ and ‘staying positive’. I imagine she’s actually annoyed, angry and out client hustling.

  15. Nev says:

    who cares?

    #NeverForget

  16. Miss Margo says:

Its not his publicist’s fault that he sucks… He is so embarrassing. That photo with the book? Eff off!!!!

  17. Luci Lu says:

That’s what his bitch-ass gets for fucking with Prince.

  18. Christina says:

    He played the halftime show?

  19. Bee says:

No publicist can make his guy happen again. It’s over dude.

  20. FF says:

In hindsight, Muckle will realise she dodged a bullet. She won’t be blamed for his steep decline from here on out.

He really does use women as career ladders.

Eyeroll at him joining Janet’s firm, are his options really that limited?

As for Biel, she strikes me as one to go the Garner route and stay until forced by circumstances to disengage from this fool.

  21. coffeeisgood says:

The costumes and the the song choices were terrible. Plus he did not deliver. A surprise appearance by Nsync or Janet Jackson would have made that mediocre performance worth watching. He is not the heartthrob he once was, and he is never gonna go back to the music career he once had.

  22. Anare says:

    What an asshole.

  23. Rebecca says:

Sorry, I really dislike Justin Timberlake. Much like Jennifer Aniston, he used his break up with Brittany to make money. He did several interviews where he talked negatively about her and talked negatively about her at his concerts (while on stage.) He continued to do this for years.

When Brittany was going through her breakdown, Justin seemed to actually be pleased about it. Instead of having sympathy and being supportive he continued to be negative.

Many of his fans who have met him say he’s a rude jerk and it doesn’t seem like his ex band members like him much.

Now he whines about how mean people have been towards him regarding his new album and his superbowl performance. Everyone is so mean to Justin. Poor Justin. I think it’s well deserved karma.

  24. Karma says:

JT may be terrible, but Sonia Muckle was an awful human being too! She had this coming so I don’t feel bad for her at all.

  25. Really says:

    A^^hole.

  26. Yes Doubtful says:

His halftime show was underwhelming and so was his album. Nobody wants your country/pop Justin or your book.
