The ‘Game of Thrones’ NY premiere featured so many former cast members *sob*

'Game of Thrones' season 8 premiere

Last night, the big Game of Thrones premiere event was held in New York. Stars of the show mingled with celebrity-fans of the show, and even former members of the show turned up, like Kristian Nairn (HODOR) and Charles Dance (OMG). Jonathan Pryce was there too, even though the High Sparrow has been dead and burned for a while. And Pedro Pascal! Lord I miss Oberyn Martell, the Red Viper. I’m seriously so nostalgic as I go through these photos. Jason Momoa! Damn, he came out too. AND SEAN BEAN. *sob*

Gendry – Joe Dempsie – was there too, bless him. Alfie Allen was there, which just reminded me of how much I loathe any and all stories involving Greyjoys. Carice van Houten surely has much to do in the coming wars. I’m also including photos of Sophie Turner, Maisie Williams (with her purple hair!), Kristofer Hivju (Tormund!), Kit Harington, Rory McCann (the Hound), Emilia Clarke, Jaime Lannister (heh), and Peter Dinklage.

This premiere must have been so much fun for everyone involved. I can’t believe so many former cast members came out to the event! I imagine Charles Dance and Sean Bean had tears in their eyes as they saw these young actors all grown up and fighting a mega-battle against the Wight Walkers. Khal Drogo too. You know who was missing though? Besides Lena Headey. Tom Wlaschiha, aka Jaqen H’ghar, aka A Man. Why wasn’t he there?!? Does this mean we won’t see A Man in the final season?!?

  1. Holly says:

Gentry almost looks like chad Michael Murray and I was CONFUSED.

    • AryasMum says:

I thought Gendry looks more like a Tully IRL than a Baratheon. I see a resemblance to Robb.

  2. Elisabeth says:

    Lisa Bonet looks……..stoned

    • Darla says:

I was going to say, but I always question whether it’s worth the blowback. She always looks like this lately, emaciated, face sunken, and not there. And yet so many insist GODDESS. Okay. Nice dress though

    • Kaye says:

I’ve noticed how rarely she makes eye contact with the camera. I thought maybe she was just shy? But now that you mention it, she does look a little . . . medicated.

    • Mash says:

im starting to think that the blind i saw during oscar time was true….how this wife didnt want to hangout with her husband and that they did the dog and pony show on the red carpert but as soon as they got inside she like ditched him until it was time to go home….

like i get the sense that also another blind of him hooking up with a stunt double on his aqua man movie and lisa showed up and out to surprise him (lol) for his bday to check on things and she prob found out then they got married prob as a some re-commitment ish and he’s still doing it or she’s kinda fed up but they have children

idk obv but they look miserable but hopefully its just a rough rough patch not sign of permanent trouble

      • Darla says:

I think they got married long before Aquaman filmed, no? I don’t see how that could be true. I mean, if that’s the case that he’s stepping out on her and she is unhappy, then I take back what I said and now I feel badly. To me she looks like she has a drug problem, but I really shouldn’t be making those assumptions. I never really thought about them together, but if you marry a younger man, and all of a sudden after years of being together, he becomes super famous and an international sex symbol…I can see that causing problems. Actually, I guess that becomes a problem whether he is younger or not. Men are not known for keeping their zippers up when they enjoy unlimited options.

      • outoftheshadows says:

Don’t they live in Hawaii? Maybe it’s just the wrong time zone for her. It’s a bad photo.

    • Myrtle says:

Seems LB never smiles on the Red Carpet—it’s her thang, for some reason. Too bad, imo—her smiling face is lovely. Daughter Zoe seems to be following suit. She’s been seriously unsmiling on the red carpet lately, too. There must be a reason for all this somber face, perhaps feigned (or real) ennui?

  3. Kit says:

I am still mad about the end of Oberyn. Still waiting for Cleganebowl so I can see the end of the Mountain, or whatever Cersei calls him now.

    • Lucia says:

I think the scene where Arya is bloodied and running away is the prelude to Clegane Bowl.

    • Jenns says:

I know I’m in the minority, but I hope that Cleganebowl never happens.

      • Bex says:

Me too tbh. It might end up in the books if GRRM ever gets round to finishing them I guess, but it feels like fan service.

      • M.A.F. says:

me too. There are other story lines/scenes I rather watch.

      • Original Jenns says:

I would be fine without. I don’t think it will happen because the Hound even said, face to face, that he knew something else was coming for him. It would be a total lip service to fans if there was one after that meeting, which would suck. Stick to the real story, D&D, not what you or fans think is “cool”.

    • Rice says:

Well Mr. Rice & I are just catching up with Narcos and Pedro is killing it!!

I cannot wait for GoT S8!!

  4. Lucia says:

I can’t wait for this! Also I love the dress on Kristopher Hivju’s partner.

  5. Bex says:

I’m obsessed with Gwendoline Christie’s magic floating dress from last night. OBSESSED.

    • Heat says:

      She looked pheOMENAL!

    • Heat says:

      She looked phenomenal, sensational, stupendous!

    • Sandra says:

I absolutely LOVE that dress on her! Not everyone can pull off a creation like that but she rocked it!

    • Nikki says:

THANK YOU!! I couldn’t remember her name, but wanted to comment! Doesn’t she look amazing?? Fantastic fun dress!! 🙂

    • outoftheshadows says:

I think her partner is her designer for many looks. She is goddess-level statuesque and gorgeous and the dress is amazing.

  6. Lucy says:

Joe’s outfit is a bit too Marty McFly-esque for me, but I don’t mind it all that much. He continues to be HOT. The lack of Gendry in all the promo makes me think that he’ll either be the last man standing, or that he’ll die a tragic death within the first chapters. I can already feel the devastation. Having said that, last night felt special. The very last premiere!! I’ve grown really, really fond of this massive cast, and I can’t wait to see them in action once more. 10 days ’till Winter!!!!!!!
EDIT: Forgot to add! Kit and Rose looked amazing!!! Second best to how great they looked at their wedding.

    • broodytrudy says:

I think he just doesn’t play as big of a part as we want him to play. He’s busy making dragon glass weapons, but he’s not vital to the story at this point. Which is a shame because he is so hot and could spread me like a rumor.

      • CatWomen says:

I like to think Gentry and Sansa will end up together ruling the iron throne as it happened with Henry Tudor (7) and Elizabeth of York married, it’s possible if if follows the War of the Roses trope then thats a potential scenario.

    • The Recluse says:

Actually, you do glimpse Gendry in one of the promos, at work at his smithy.

  7. Lightpurple says:

Where is A Man! A Woman DEMANDS a Man!

  8. Jenns says:

    Gwendoline looked amazing.

Also, A Man was spotted on set, and give the EW set report, I have reason to believe he may be in the show. Unless the producers planted him there to throw off spoilers. But that would mean they would have to fly him to the set just for a goof. So basically, I have no idea, lol.

  9. Mabs A'Mabbin says:

I am so glad I’m not the only over-the-top fan. Does that make me a stan (that word gets on my nerves lol). They all look amazing. Sophie is just so damn beautiful. They all are though, and I’ve fallen in love with all the characters. I, too, really dislike the Greyjoys, but the children, and their crappy uncle, have utilized some effective acting chops. Every time I watch BBC, and someone from GOT shows up, I get all goofy excited. Both Mormonts, Lord Tywin, Walder Frey, Aemon Targaryen, Ygritt, Rob, etc. are in a lot! Even one of the Dothraki Dosh Khaleen leads on Kill Joys! I’m a goober. I’m getting so dang sad. The end is coming. Wah!!! Maybe I’ll start watching the whole damn thing again for the bazillionth time. You think we’ll ever know what happens after taking a honeycomb and a jackass into a brothel?

    • Mia says:

I love period dramas. If you’re a fan of Charles Dance, Lord Tywin, check out HenryVIII and Wives starring Ray Winestone as Henry. Sean Bean is in the cast as well. Helena Bonham Carter plays Anne Boleyn

      • Mabs A'Mabbin says:

Seen it. I love watching this stuff….early dark ages, Vikings, the power grabs and flip-flopping of alliances, 100 years war, Lancasters and Yorks, war of the roses, on again, off again Catholicism vs Protestants, three kingdoms war and on and on and on. Every few years some major shit surfaces bringing political and religious upheaval, death and destruction. Entertainment gold lol.

  10. Salted Watermelon says:

I don’t know why, but there are two GoT deaths that I still haven’t gotten over: Hodor and Ned. I know he was only on it for one season, but I still miss Ned Stark. Seeing Sean Bean at the premiere hits me right in the feels.

    • Mabs A'Mabbin says:

Omg. As the whole Hodor story was unfolding before my eyes, I couldn’t believe his plight. It was so incredibly sad. His entire life…. Brilliant. But so tragic.

    • Lightpurple says:

Hodor and Summer. I rewatched last week and I sobbed.

    • megs283 says:

omg Hodor. I had forgotten all about that one…..

      SOBBBSSSSSSSS

    • ReginaGeorge says:

The death that hit me the hardest was Shireen. I bawled like a baby when she was burned at the stake. Especially right after that tender moment she had with Stannis where he hugged her and assured her that she was THEE Princess Shireen of House Baratheon. Hodor was the other saddest death for me. Also, I HATED anytime the Direwolves were killed. Their little yelps made me very sad.

      • GreenTurtle says:

Shireen’s death was so terrible and disturbing. I could barely stand to watch.

    • AryasMum says:

Rumor is there will be an absolutely devastating death in the end. Probably the biggest after Ned.

  11. Michael says:

Lena Headly could not come because she is sick and in bed.

    • 10KTurtle says:

And Jerome Flynn was there, and supposedly their break-up was so nasty they are contracted to never have to work together.

      • Bex says:

I always thought that was just blind gossip bs until last season’s finale where basically every character still alive gathered in the Dragonpit and suddenly Bronn was like ‘right, I’m off to the pub’ just before Cersei showed up. It was not subtle!

      • Andrea says:

Would love to know the story. I find Jerome Flynn so sexy!

  12. megs283 says:

argh. I just can’t sustain excitement for a TV series over these long breaks. I’ve been through so much and my life has changed too much and I don’t have space in my head to remember or care about the nuances of the show over 8 years.

  13. Cobalt says:

Point of order: I believe it is the WHITE Walkers. *Wights* are the undead minions, but the White Walkers are the blue-eyed officers with the real power.

  14. Miss M says:

    Where is Michiel Huisman?!

  15. ReginaGeorge says:

I was there last night. It was insane!!! Mobs of people. Streets were closed off. The crowd was electric. And I never wanted a press pass so badly in my life. Gwendolyn looked the absolute best. Opulence! She owned everything and everyone on that carpet. Emilia was so tiny I missed her as she walked in. Rose’s dress was gorgeous as well. The detail and color against her skin were great. Kit looked soo handsome in the GoT Instagram pics. Charles Dance looked so happy to be there. Lol ugh. It was fun!

  16. Mrs. Darcy says:

I’m confused I could swear I saw pics of Lena? Someday we willl get the behind the scenes tell all of all of the romantic shenanigans that went on that we deserve. Tormund and his wife (g.f.?) are such a cute couple. Same with Peter and his wife, they always seem happy and he looks hawt with the darker hair. Gilly (not pictured) had on a really pretty almost neon shade of dress. Pedro larking around with The Mountain was my fave, Sophie’s dress is her usual edgy thing but she looks pretty and not like a dimestore hooker like at Kit and Rose’s wedding. Emilia underwhelms me with the darker hair, tbh. Gwendolyn’s dress is amazing she looks like a greek goddess. I like Rose but I can kinda see why some people think she’s extra with that dress…like it feels like a dress someone who is still in the show should wear if that makes sense. It’s her husband’s real moment now in terms of the show, Idk it does seem kinda upstage-y. I feel like Lisa Bonet always looks kinda clammy hippy lately and it’s not working for her like it used too, I hope she is not unwell. I too would have liked to see A Man in a tux/cute suit. Ah well. I can’t believe it’s almost over…

  17. Yawn says:

Joe Dempsy looking like that I’d be calling him “sir” and offering to lay down in puddles to make sure he keeps his ankles dry. Mmmmm.

  18. Elizabeth Suzanne Phillips says:

Sean Bean looks SO much better lately – the new wife must be better for him than the old one.

And I keep hoping Rory McCann will shave – he’s very handsome without the beard.

    • Mia says:

Isn’t Sean Bean on his fifth marriage. If he was a woman, folks would be dragging him.

  19. chloe says:

Gwendoline Christie looks amazing, I can’t wait for the show to start.

  20. Nikki says:

I miss Lady Mormont, but it was really fun to see so many of the cast members again! Guess Rose forgave her husband, who some woman claimed to have had an affair with. Was happy to see Torvald’s real life wife or girlfriend seems like a vivacious redhead too!

    • outoftheshadows says:

It’s just one photo, but Rose is leaning away from him and very stiff… I think the body language does not lie. (And he looks uncomfortable and concerned.)

      • Andrea says:

Rose and her husband are both from posh families. Thus, sweep it under the rug ala Kate Middleton style is what is happening.

    • Jay says:

They have adorable ginger daughters too. He’s a very nice person.

  21. Mom2two says:

Not only was Lena Headley missing of the current cast, Richard Madden (Robb), Michelle Fairley (Catelyn), Oona Chaplin (Talisa), Iwan Rhoen (Ramsey) were not there.

  22. Alyse says:

    I just love them all

  23. Valerie says:

Aw, no Ciaran Hinds. He’s working on a play in London.

  24. SK says:

I think this is such an unusual premiere on that all of the stars were excited to stay and watch it!!! They were all raving about it too – the old cast members as well. So excited!!!

Poor Lena was sick… what a bummer!

I think it’s fantastic that the show meant so much to the actors that so many former cast members turned up. Jack Gleeson / Joffrey was there too!

  25. Amy says:

Daaaaaaamn, Gendry looks good. That hair is working for him!
