Duchess Kate wore green Emilia Wickstead to open the Kantor Centre in London

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge opens the new Centre of Excellence

I forgot the Duchess of Cambridge had an event today – this is her first solo charity/patronage event since late March. Minus her Easter Sunday and Anzac Day appearances, she didn’t work at all in April. It’s fine, and we know it’s fine because the Queen made her a Dame this week. So now she’s Dame Duchess Kate! Or something. Kate made an appearance today in London to open up the Kantor Centre of Excellence. The Kantor Centre is part of the Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families network, of which Kate is the royal patron.

Kate wore Emilia Wickstead for this trip – I think this is new, but it looks so familiar because Kate basically has the exact same dress in several colors. Her favorite – and my favorite on her – is the lilac version of this dress, which she’s worn a few times. Honestly, it’s a good cut on her, and very flattering. The hem length is great and appropriate, the skirt isn’t too “twirly” and the sleeves are well-done. The lilac version was always described as bespoke, so my guess is that Kate asked Wickstead to make her several versions of the same design in different colors. This hunter green is pretty and conservative. I kind of think the lilac one might have been a better choice for the first day of May though?

I also feel like Kate is trying out something different with her hair? Maybe she just didn’t have time for a fresh blowout, or maybe she’s legit trying a new, flatter, less “done” hairstyle. I did a double-take on her hair, honestly. And then a triple-take on the fact that her look doesn’t involve two dozen buttons.

I absolutely love this dress. I would buy it if I could afford it…. It’s still very chilly here in London despite it being officially May

    • Kittycat says:

I would love a sleeveless version of this dress.

    • manda says:

I would buy one as well, super cute. Style question–would that dress look good with flats? If so, what style? I always feel like long sleeved dresses need a heel.

      • Nichole says:

Manda, check out Rothy’s! I can’t praise them enough. They’re the nicest looking flats I’ve ever owned.

      • AnnaKist says:

I like the dress, too, and the colour is really nice, but, what…..no buttons?? Maybe we dress differently down in Australia, but flats with long sleeves is very acceptable here. Thanks, Nichole. I only ever wear flats, so am now going to check out Rothy’s

      • MissyLynne says:

Nichole: I LOVE my Rothy’s! I feel the same way about them, so much that I have 3 pairs. Also, they look as good right out of the washing machine as before.

      • I think a pointed-toe flat works really well with a long-sleeve dress. I also have three pairs of Rothy’s and I love them! I just washed all mine this past weekend. So handy for sweaty summer feet. If anyone wants to try them, I have a referral link for $20 off your first pair: https://share.rothys.com/x/POklVw (Hope I’m not violating posting terms with that?) But agree with Kaiser that the lilac dress looks best – it brightens her face. This green is more muted than the emerald/forest green shades Kate usually wear.s

      • Coco says:

        @ThePrimpySheep

Thanks for the code! Had my eye on these for awhile!

      • Some chick says:

Arche’ is also a pretty awesome designer of flats.

      • cannibell says:

Rothy’s question – what if you have stupidly narrow feet? Do they work? (Asking for a friend.)

    • Erinn says:

I love it too. I’m also freezing at the moment which makes the sleeves appealing.

    • Bella DuPont says:

The dress in itself isn’t bad, but words cannot express how aggressively bored I am of seeing the nth version of the same dress/coat on Kate. 😴😴😴

      • rose says:

Yup, I pictured what it would look like before I opened the post and it was pretty much what I imagined. It’s a nice dress but that’s about it .

      • Royalfan says:

Agreed. With access to any designer, why not mix it up a little? Winter/fall colour for May 1st.

    • minx says:

They are all boring me lately, I just want Polo Baby to arrive…it’s May!

    • Ronaldinhio says:

I absolutely loathe this dress and styling
She looks like a dolly. Barbie Cindy whatever
Also as ever vaguely mad Botox and too heavy make up

Nice to see her working so plaudits there

  2. Chef Grace says:

I feel she is practicing her role as future queen.
I do like her hair. More natural.

    • Beli says:

This isn’t practice, this is her job.

    • Guest says:

You mean her actual job? Again shaking hands and pretending to listen to people speak. Guess she deserves a 2 week vacation now. 🤷‍♀️

    • (THE OG)@Jan90067 says:

Her natural hair is wavy/curly. This looks closer to pics taken when they were in Tonga. I like it like this.

  3. Becks1 says:

This dress is always just fine for me (in all its different variations.) It’s simple, verging on boring, but nicely cut and fits her well, and is appropriate for these types of events, so like I said, its fine. I do like the color. I think she could style the dress a bit better and make it more interesting overall, but I’m not sure how. Better jewelry? some bracelets would really set it off IMO.

Re: her hair, I know this sounds weird, but when we see her out several days in a row, you can track her hair and when it gets washed and blown out. My guess is that she goes a few days between washing, and this is probably “day 2” hair.

    • notasugarhere says:

When she was in London after they wed, not living in Wales as the PR told us? Blowouts were 3x a week, so your theory makes sense.

      • Surly Gale says:

Reese ~ where did that come from? Are you being hurt? Are you being bullied? did you read Becks1’s post as being bullying? If so, you need to clarify …. my heart hurts for you. what previous comment? I couldn’t find anything ‘previously’ said by you in this post….checked thrice. Also, where did you get this definition of bullying? It’s not the Oxford Dictionary definition.
I’m worried, your rant seems off topic regarding DoC’s dress, but you have bullying on your heart. So please take care of yourself, and we all try to stop bullying everywhere by everyone always……

      • Jaded says:

        Reese – lighten up.

      • R says:

        @Surly Gale

Why would you attack Reese when she is just like many others on this site and tired of the over the top hatred and attacks of Kate from NOTA.

Reese is the only one still willing to call her out. No reason to be rude.

      • Susan says:

The rudeness of commenters on here like SurlyGale is astounding.

      • Becks1 says:

Clearly a post got deleted and then Reese repeated, because SurlyGale’s comment was in response to a much more longwinded and heated post from Reese, that was not warranted based on Nota’s comment about her hair getting done.

      • notasugarhere says:

Hate and criticism are not the same things. You’d think the new posters were all unable to comprehend the difference.

So much fuss against my comments in the past few days, mostly from brand new posters. All these new single letter names I cannot keep track. RoyalDish’s halls must be emptying. Don’t like what I write, don’t read it if it upsets you so.

Kate was papped repeatedly in London, 3 x a week at her hairdresser, while the PR spin was she was a housewife in Wales and unable to work. That’s the hairdresser known for doing weaves and wiglets.

      • notasugarhere says:

Comment to which I was replying has disappeared.

      • Nic919 says:

Commenting on Kate getting blowouts and being papped for it is not even a critical remark. It’s what happened. If that doesn’t fit with the perfect princess image that’s too bad. Are we also going to pretend that she didn’t go shopping and get caught after ducking out early on a Huffpo “editing” session? Her engagements remain low over eight years into this gig and we simply get more excuses and not more work.

  4. Kittycat says:

I wonder what a custom dress like this costs.

    • Becks1 says:

We’re not supposed to ask that lol.

    • Beli says:

      Nothing at all, apparently.

    • OriginalLala says:

now now, don’tcha know Kate (and the Queen’s) bespoke clothing costs nothing at all! it’s all free!! Meghan’s clothes on the other hand…

    • BayTampaBay says:

When you have bespoke stuff, the first dress is always the most expensive due to cutting of the pattern and the multiple fittings to get everything right. So I am gonna guess the first dress full retail would cost about $2,000.00 USD. Cost of any additional orders would be based on cost of fabric because all the expensive design work is done. So the the same fabric in a different color would probably be about $500.00 USD full retail per dress. A version of this dress in a cotton with spandex fibers (to hold the shape) fabric would run about $300.00 full retail. Please be advised that Cathy Cambridge is not paying Full Retail price for anything she wears. My guess is that she gets a 50% discount off full retail meaning she is only paying wholesale costs for most of her clothes.

      • Eliza says:

This is correct but i don’t think she’s getting 50% off. Kensington Palace put out a statement years ago saying Charles bought her clothes and they were not special pricing. If they lied, it would be a huge scandal and look like they were exchanging favors and covering it up. So I’m sure she pays less for the same design in different colors, but the same price as other customers.

    • Eliza says:

Off the rack similar style costs $1000-$1800. Cheaper than your Gucci, Prada, Dolce, but not cheap

    • notasugarhere says:

Her bespoke McBurton day dresses start around $8000.

      • Kittycat says:

        $8,000 really.

Well makes sense to have personal dressmakers to do alterations.

      • Reese. says:

        Flat out lie

      • Tina says:

Off the rack McQueen dresses range from £1400 ($1820) to £6200 ($8050) on net-a-porter. $8000 for a bespoke day dress doesn’t sound unlikely to me.

      • BayTampaBay says:

@Tina, $8000.00 for a bespoke McQueen sounds about right to me if Cathy is paying full retail price. Though many of my fellow posters, who I greatly respect, have disagreed with me on what she pays, I do not think she is paying full retail. I also do not believe Meghan is paying full retail. However one looks at it, the Duchesses are not wearing inexpensive frocks.

      • Tina says:

@Bay, I think you’re probably right (although I have no idea either way). I miss the days when Kate wore Hobbs, LK Bennett and other high street brands on a regular basis.

      • notasugarhere says:

Here are two other posters backing up what I wrote, but somehow Reese isn’t questioning what they write. No surprise.

      • notasugarhere says:

Comment to which I was replying has disappeared.

  5. LeaTheFrench says:

A good, solid look – appropriate for the event. Not very modern but let’s not be picky. The color looks great on her. I prefer her hair this way, it looks more natural. Well done. I don’t often feel that way about her sartorial choices…

  6. Vexa says:

Wow, two whole events in April…

Also – god, I can’t stand it when she wears those hideous nude shoes that blend into her tights. She looks like a figure skater. I can’t believe my tax money is being spent on such ugly shoes.

    • Kittycat says:

I had to look again at the shoes and you are right.

It reminds me of the scene in Captain America where he runs ‘barefoot’ down the street. When in fact the actor Chris 🍑 Evan is wearing nude shoes to appear barefoot.

      • ShazBot says:

hahaha wow, I had to look this up – those prosthetic feet are so creepy!

    • Enn says:

You will have to pry my nude shoes from my cold dead hands. I’ve been wearing them for over a decade (different shoes of course but I have three different styles in my closet right now).

      • Surly Gale says:

me too! I love the look, and appreciate the neutral that goes with anything. Tho’ my nude shoes are flats 🙂

  7. Jessica says:

This is a look I can get behind, except for the slouching and her make up. Her hair looks great.

  8. Toot says:

Kate’s eyebrows are too severe for me. She needs to go back to her old shaping.

    • Tris says:

I was about to object to your comment as nit-picky until I scrolled back up and looked at her eyebrows. They are plucked into mean little angry frowning sperms! Hilarious and ridiculous. Hope it’s only plucking and not electrolysis!!

      • y says:

I really hate calling brow shapes “sperm” or similar. I just think it’s demeaning because it’s got that whole “haha, sperm on a woman’s face!” crudeness to it and people never use it to describe the brows of people they like. I don’t even like Kate but I just hate that term, whoever it’s applied too. You can get the same descriptive effect saying tadpole brows or something like that. And her brows aren’t even tadpole-ish. They’re just a bit severe and little too arched.

      • Toot says:

Yeah, these eyebrows make her look villan-ish when she’s not smiling. lol

      • Dee says:

        Every party has a pooper!

I didn’t realize calling brow shapes “sperm or similar” was a term anyone else had ever used. I certainly never thought of it in terms of crude sexualizing!! I just immediately thought the shape of her brows–with the sharp raised point on the end and thick rounded part in the centre–looked like a sperm, which made me laugh.

I’m delighted that you have other words, e.g. “tadpole brows” that you prefer, and I encourage you to use them to your heart’s content. Perhaps a site called Celeb-Polite would be better suited to your sensibilities?

    • Nic919 says:

I think some of the harshness is because of the Botox in the forehead. The brows are pushed up in a way that doesn’t look natural.

      • intheknow says:

This. This is a tell tale sign of botox. I used to use botox to manage migraines…I stopped when my brows started making me look like Villainelle.

      • Beli says:

I think she’s only just had her Botox refreshed. Her forehead isn’t moving an inch today. That could be why she looks more severe.

      • Nic919 says:

The pictures of huge guffaws but no lines in the forehead are the dead giveaway.

      • notasugarhere says:

If she doesn’t re-up it in the fall, we might be on Baby #4 watch.

  9. Eleonor says:

I like more the green dress on her, than the other one.

    • broodytrudy says:

Green is such a pretty color on her, and on most women. I love green and wear it often. Hate that neckline though.

  10. Jane says:

Where is her Broken Britain initiative. Considering all of the publicity surrounding it, should it not have presented by now?

    • Nic919 says:

There was an unannounced reception for it last night that showed up in the CC. Which is weird because a reception is like a party and there should be more meetings to discuss substance. This is the second party she’s had for this initiative and we still don’t actually know what it’s going to do.

      • Beli says:

If it’s the steering group, that meets monthly if I’m remembering correctly. Are those meetings in the CC?

      • Nic919 says:

It only shows up in the CC if a royal attended. And the entry said reception instead of meeting.

      • Beli says:

So it seems like she’s attending receptions for the group , but not the actual meetings then…

      • Nic919 says:

Exactly so. Why do the work part of it when you will get credit for saving broken Britain anyway.

      • notasugarhere says:

So getting credit for showing up for cocktails while doing none of the work.

    • Digital Unicorn says:

This is part of the ‘broken Britain’ initiative, the Fail snarkily sneak that jibe in LOL. They also snarked about how its her first engagement after her easter ‘break’. 2 events this month, poor girl will need a month long holiday at this rate.

      • notasugarhere says:

She’s at what, less than 20 days worked this year?

      • Becks1 says:

@Nota she was at 14 days before her easter break – so if we count easter, ANZAC service, and now this – 17.

  11. Margareth says:

Kate has this same dress in lilac, this is a pure waste of money and eyebrows are ugly, they make her look like a Disney villain. Mess

  12. Va Va Kaboom says:

These dresses would be a fantastic blank canvas for her to experiment with bolder accessory choices. It’s incredibly flattering on her on its own, though a bit staid. Colorful or interesting patterned shoes and maybe a necklace would really make it perfection… at least in my opinion.

    • Becks1 says:

I was thinking that some sort of pretty shoes would really help this whole look. A floral pattern even, which would be out of her wheelhouse but still would look very classy – exact same shoe but in a pattern.

    • LeaTheFrench says:

      Exactly.

    • Call_me_al says:

Agree about the shoes! She does look beautiful, though, and I would love to own this dress. It highlights her gorgeous legs and creates a more feminine shapely look, camouflaging her narrow hips and ever-shrinking frame. She does have a look in her eyes similar to someone in my office who recently started on antipsychotic medication. Vaccuous. I hope she gets the help she needs if indeed she needs it. I think she cares very deeply about William’s cheating and is getting run-down from being married to a narcissist. I actually feel for her. I wouldn’t be able to handle the constant criticism she gets. I do think she’s wasting our time by talking about her “keen initiatives” when she really doesn’t want to work right now. Focusing on your kids, family, shopping, and vacations sounds awesome. Just kind of own it, maybe?

    • Stacy Dresden says:

      Leopard

  13. Gigi La Moore says:

She has about two styles of dress to choose from, this silhouette or the trusty coat dress. Wash and repeat.

  14. Seraphina says:

She looks fine. She looks boring and I will repeat myself, I think she looks boring because that is who she is. princess Mary always looks on point. And even where she wears something not so good, it’s not as harsh as when Kate does it. I’ve given up trying to like what she wears. When I look at Queen Maxima, Queen Latisha and Princess Mary (and Victoria) I take them in with my eyes paying attention to how things were put together and the cut and style because of not only what they wear but how they wear it. And with Kate I just scan her over like a boring news article.

I have to say that she is quite attractive in her close ups. Wish she would stop slouching. And the nude shoes need to go.

    • Erinn says:

I guess it just depends on personal taste. When I think of Mary I think of the pink coat dress with all the embellishments on it. I think she looked ridiculous in it. The color as well as all the rhinestones(?) made her look like a throwback barbie doll or something. She’s a beautiful woman, and I think she has a lot of great looks, but I don’t see ANY of the royals being ‘on it’ all of the time. There are a lot of misses across all monarchies.

      • BayTampaBay says:

I always liked the way Anne, The Princess Royal dresses. I know many will disagree with me but Anne is a woman who can shop high end designer vintage in her own closet. Anne, has outfits she has re-worn for 20+ years and THEY STILL FIT PERFECTLY and look fashionable. Actually, because Anne true designer vintage, she looks more fashion forward than Megs or Cathy.

      • trish says:

Anne dresses appropriately for the occasion and I think fashion is secondary for her. When I think of her, my first thought is all the work she has done over the years – much of it with little or no fanfare.

      • BayTampaBay says:

Anne wears a lot of bold prints and she always looks good. Anne may not be interested in fashion but I am always interested in what she wears.

      • Becks1 says:

Anne’s fashion reminds me of Prince Charles and something he said once – basically that a stopped clock is right twice a day. Both have basically worn the same styles for 30 years, and as the fashion world turns, sometimes they are more fashionable than others. But Anne clearly invested in good, fairly classic pieces that have stood the test of time. (I think her hair often makes her outfits more out of date than they are, since her hairstyle has not changed in decades, lol.)

@Erinn – I don’t mind a few misses with the royals. That’s one of the reasons I like seeing Meghan’s fashion. I don’t think she always nails it, sometimes she misses, but its interesting and at least makes me want to see what she is actually wearing, you know? I think Letizia mostly nails it, but not across the board, but she very rarely bores me, even when the outfit may be a disaster. Kate is rarely a total miss, but she is usually more boring.

      • A says:

@Erinn, but it’s the misses that add personality and flair to the individual. And that’s the problem with Kate. Her general style has stayed the same throughout her marriage, it’s just her hemlines and the addition of weights to her skirts that’s changed.

Women like Mary, Maxima (!!!!!!), Letizia (!!!!!!!!!!) and others have a recognizable style, but they keep it interesting every time, even if it doesn’t always work. Especially Letizia, who has REALLY stepped up her game massively since she became Queen. I don’t know how tf she does it, almost everything she wears is gorgeous, and she keeps it interesting each time. Letizia should let Kate borrow her stylist for a bit if you ask me.

  15. Beli says:

This is crying out for some bold accessories. A chunky necklace or a funky shoe. I prefer the lilac too.

    • y says:

Even a cute new hairstyle or up-do or a bright lipstick would bring a bit of interest to this look if she’s not keen on accessorising.

      • Beli says:

Yes, exactly. A full updo might be a bit formal, but her hairdresser could have definitely done something more interesting.

    • vava says:

yes, exactly. I’d say a chunky necklace AND a funky shoe. The dress is a canvas, but Kate isn’t very imaginative on accenting it.

Her posture is atrocious. Hate those nude shoes.

    • Sharon Lea says:

Yes!!! As an “accessories buyer” I would have thought that she would have some cool jewelry choices all these years, but have yet to see any sign of those months at Jigsaw.

  16. Marlene says:

She looks like she’s fantasising about strangling the Marshmallow of Charmageddon or whichever title Billy’s fling had.

  17. Beach Dreams says:

Typical dress. Of course we probably won’t be getting any price tag estimates. Anyway, something about her face looks strangely different but I can’t figure out what it is. I don’t think it’s the brows, those have been like that for a while.

  18. Juniperus says:

Okay this is me being a horrible person, I actually think she looks very nice… but those shoes are *eerily* well matched to her skin tone. In that first picture she looks like she’s got some sort of bizarre stiletto hooves.

    • BayTampaBay says:

” but those shoes are *eerily* well matched to her skin tone”

The commentariat of the Daily Fail love these shoes. I cannot think of another reason why she ruins great dresses with horrible shoes. Even pumps that matchy-match the dress would be an improvement.

  19. Guest says:

Her hair must be full of secrets

  20. Lorelei says:

She looks pretty, but…another identical dress in a different color? Come on, Kate! I actually really love the lilac one and agree with Kaiser that that color would have been a better choice for May, but it just seems so wasteful and boring to keep buying the same exact dress, with zero variations, in different colors. (And yes, I do that too with shirts I like or whatever, but I’m just a peasant, without unlimited funds and access to any designer in the world.) Sigh.

    Never change, Kate, I guess.

  21. JaneDoesWork says:

Love this look, Kate looks great in green and I don’t think she wears it enough. Hair looks great too. That said, doesn’t she also have this in a blue/tealish color? It just is started to look like all of her clothes look the same. Which… if it works I guess thats fine. She knows what she likes and what looks good on her, so I guess thats fine. But when you have so many options at your disposal and you used to “work” in fashion its a little lackluster.

    • Surly Gale says:

The Queen wears the same styles over and over, just changing the colours and the fabrics. DoC is ‘becoming’ the Queen Consort, apparently sooner rather than later. I think she’s setting us up view her as more Queenly….

      • JaneDoesWork says:

I was thinking the same! I really feel like since Meghan has come along, Kate has appeared to accept and into her own personal style a bit. Its definitely gotten more reserved, covered, and dare I say boring haha. But… that’s to be expected as a queen consort to be in that country I guess. Kate was never going to dress like Queen Rania haha

      • Yoyo says:

The Queen is 93, just saying.

      • A says:

I don’t think the Queen is a good comparison to Kate. It’s not the age thing, it’s the fact that her clothes actually do have enough subtle details to be different each and every time, while still keeping her style the same through each outfit. Have you seen some of the prints on the dresses she wears under her coats? The details on the hats? The brooches that are paired with each outfit? She’s dressed with a great deal of imagination and creativity for a 93 year old, and that’s entirely because Angela Kelly is really fcking good at her job.

Kate doesn’t have an eye for that just yet. She doesn’t have a dedicated stylist and designer who does everything for her in-house for one thing. She’s commissioning outfits from four or five different designers. She probably hasn’t taken stock of her closet in a long time. I think she gives a general brief to the designers, and because they don’t know what she already has, they make something that looks exactly the same as something else she’s worn before. She needs someone who can sit down and go through the stuff she’s got, and then figure out what she needs to take it further. That’s probably next on the cards for Kate.

  22. Eliza says:

Hair looks great. Looks like a fresh color with a few very thin highlights and they finally got the curls right (aka loosened them after they set).

The dress is nice, the fit is perfect. She looks great in this shade of green. But i agree the lavendar would look great for spring.

  23. Ali says:

I think she looks really pretty. I’d kill for those legs.

  24. RoyalBlue says:

This is her uniform, bespoke of course, so we won’t ever know the price.

I wish she spoke more openly about her charities and what exactly she is doing to help and how the public can help. this is not the 1950’s anymore so the air of mystery doesn’t exist anymore. Information travels worldwide, real-time, so there is more of an expectation of full disclosure which she never gives.

The Countess of Wessex aka Sophie, just posted a video on social media where she is discussing who she met with during her trip in India. It is not a formal speech but she is speaking to what is being done for premature babies through the Queen’s Trust. This is a great idea and others should do this as well. The time for women being mannequins is over. We need to expect more than seeing a pretty dress.

      • RoyalBlue says:

Boom! Thank you Nic. As a woman I cringe when that is the sole focus of her attendance at these events. I really like the countess of Wessex who puts her heart and soul in all of her projects.

      • trish says:

RoyalBlue – I concur. Like, Anne, Sophie is deeply committed to her role and duties and style is a distant second to substance. She comes across as being genuine and not simply going through the motions, showing up, etc.

      • Becks1 says:

I think Sophie is a good example too of using personal experience to connect with people. Like, I get why helping premature babies is one of Sophie’s causes, I get why vision issues (sorry I cant remember exactly what Louise has/had) are one of her issues, etc. Heck same with Eugenie and her scoliosis and learning disorders. They do a good job of saying, “we have struggled with X issue. This is what helped us” and then they support that.

I’ve said this before, but its where I think Kate misses the mark. For example – yes, saying “parenthood is hard” is a good starting point, but it would be more impactful I think if she said “parenthood is hard. There are some days where I just break down into tears because I don’t know what to do next.” or something. Make the connection for people.

That’s not going to be possible for every cause, obviously. But when it is possible, they should do it.

      • Lorelei says:

@Becks it will never make sense to me why Kate didn’t get involved with an HG organization— she could have embraced that and really made a difference w/r/t raising “awareness.” She has personal experience with it that she could share, but nope. Nothing. It seems like a no-brainer to me.

      • Tourmaline says:

That is great that the Countess of Wessex did that video. A way to extend the impact of a royal visit beyond still photos.

    • BayTampaBay says:

I think Beatrice is the York sister with the learning disability, dyslexia.

      • Becks1 says:

@Bay you are probably right. I get them confused sometimes….whoops. lol.

      • BayTampaBay says:

I have always liked and thought very highly of Beatrice & Eugenie York because they talked to the public about the personal challenges they face(ed) long before Bill Cambridge & Harry Sussex ever did.

  25. Jen says:

    She looks good.

Her face does look subtly different to me, like maybe she had a little work done. Maybe that was why she took the month off? Used the kids as a convenient excuse?

  26. CindyP says:

I really wish she would cut her hair, it ages her

  27. Lucia says:

The brows are not doing her any favors. I know overplucked is out but I do think she looks better with thinner eyebrows. It softens her face.
I really like the dress though. I think she looks great in green.

    • M says:

Aren´t they quite thin already? She has had them thicker in the past. I think it might be that they are so sharply lined out…. And probably more raised than usual because of botox.

I have VERY thick eyebrows myself. It sucks when your natural features make you look harsh.

      • Lucia says:

Yes it does. I have thick eyebrows too but I also feel the need to keep them thin to look soft. Otherwise I look kind of manly when they’re thick.

It’s does seem like she’s gotten some botox in the last week or so. Her forehead looks super frozen and she has surprise brows. But it’s very subtle and her features have softened quite a bit. I can’t really judge her for it but it is clear she just looks naturally harsh at times. However, she seems a little more confident now so I hope she’s happy with her decision. Now I feel bad for my comments yesterday.

      • M says:

Well, it doesn´t have to be manly or harsh. I have thick eyebrows like Lily Collins, and that is not a joke. They are extremely thick. But I keep them groomed, yet still very thick. I don´t color them, only a clear brow gel. They are a part of who I am.

Some might think that they are manly, but they are what they are, and I´m born with them. I don´t find the need to make them much thinner, and I am happy that Kate still keeps them fairly thick, because why shouldn´t she. She is born with them, and she has beautiful eyebrows. I remember when she got married, that I was so happy to see someone famous with dark and thick eyebrows, as it was seen as a bad asset in the 00´s. Thankfully, that has changed.

such a long post on eyebrows, lol 😉

  28. Lulu says:

Kate! It’ll be years, literally years, before you’re Queen Mother. Stop dressing like you’re one now.
    Sigh…
I loved loved her style after college all the way up maybe 2014. Something happened after George and she just looks so matronly and old. My 60 year old mom wouldn’t wear this without a statement necklace or earrings to liven it up. And this isn’t due to her personal style (judging by pre-duchess days)or the fact that she’s 40-years-in-the-future queen; all the other royal ladies dress fab. This is some weird attempt by palace courtiers and William to portray her a certain way that is really just out of touch.
Also, it looks like a 2-day old blow out… which is actually the nicest part of this look.

  29. Enn says:

As a fellow long torsoed woman, I’d wear the hell out of this style. Emerald looks great on every complexion, too.

I would like to see her do something different with her hair but some people just love their hair down. I’ve never seen my boss with her hair up.

  30. Case says:

I love this dress and agree with other posters that I’d absolutely wear it. Emerald is a great color for Kate.

  31. Deedee says:

    Yawn. Next.

  32. Digital Unicorn says:

Colour suits her but she has the style in several other colours by other designers (McQueen etc..). GF needs to up her makeup games as it looked bad, the panda eyes have returned. Also her face looked puffy or that could be down do that fact that the photo agency may not have photoshopped the sh!t out of the photo’s before releasing them. Or she’s stopped with the tox/fillers in prep to get with baby again. which she has done previously.

  33. MrsBanjo says:

How many of the same dress does she need? And where’s all the outrage about her spending on a dress she has a dozen of?

    • Lorelei says:

My outrage is about the fact that because all of these dresses and coats are “bespoke,” they count as £0.00 while all of the prices of Meghan’s clothes are added up and published. It’s such nonsense.

      • Brandy Alexander says:

In all fairness, Meghan wore a ton of bespoke items that weren’t tallied either. Honestly, both of these ladies take advantage of a super sized clothing budget.

      • MrsBanjo says:

@Lorelei it really is nonsense. The double standard is ridiculous.

      • MrsBanjo says:

@Brandy I side-eye Meghan’s multiple tan coats, but otherwise it’s not the same thing. Meghan hasn’t even been a member of the RF for a year and 2/3 of that has been spent pregnant. She’s literally building a wardrobe for her position as a member of the RF. Kate has been in the RF for eight years. There are literally zero excuses for her to have a dozen of the same shape of green dress or more new dresses that look identical to her existing wardrobe other than colour. If Meghan keeps that level of spending in the coming years, then it will be comparable.

Also, there have been pieces Meghan has owned and worn prior to her marriage that were included in media financial tallies. There’s a major double standard and it’s ludicrous.

    • notasugarhere says:

She has at least a dozen green dresses already. That’s not counting all her green coat dresses.

      • BayTampaBay says:

I believe that Kate is dressing for “her public” which is the female readers & commentariat of the Daily Fail. The comment posters in the Daily Fail are in-love with the way Cathy Cambridge dresses and make her out as some second coming.

      • Lorelei says:

@Nota I literally cannot even count the number of blue coatdresses. Stopped trying a long time ago. She is ridiculous.

      • notasugarhere says:

Like when she purchased two suits from the same line, same exactly fabric, nearly identical but one with frills and one without. Did she forget she had the other one? She couldn’t choose between them?

  34. Lisa says:

    Kate looks nice.

  35. ChiaMom says:

It’s not her hair it’s her botoxed forehead. She’s trying to smooth out all the wrinkles that “aristo” Rose has all over her Droopy the Dog face so she’s stands above. Kate just find a handsome stable boy and find redemption lol #FreeTicket #CashItIn #MakeItGood #RoseIsAHag

    • BayTampaBay says:

Rose Hanbury is many things but she in no hag by any stretch of imagination.

      • Becks1 says:

I actually think in one of the pictures in this post, Kate looks like a Rose clone, lol.

I don’t think Rose is a hag, but I do think those pictures from the EACH gala are not very flattering of her, so it is unfortunate that those are the ones we see everywhere now.

      • Digital Unicorn says:

Yeah she is a pretty gal. William has a type – very skinny ladies with long darkish hair. IIRC many of his ex’s/flings all kinda looked the same.

    • Jaded says:

Rose is not a hag. Several people who have written articles about her say she doesn’t photograph as well as Kate but she is very pretty in person.

    • PrincessK says:

“Find a handsome stable boy “……😂😂😂

  36. starryfish29 says:

She looks fine, she always does, it’s just all so deathly boring.

  37. Mumbles says:

I remember when she got married and everyone was asking whether she was going to be fashion-forward and an ambassador for UK fashion, esp new designers. And the answer we all know now is, no. And that’s fine, I guess, but it’s disappointing. I would rather see the occasional fashion disaster if it were interesting. At this point Pippa has made more interesting choices.

    • PrincessK says:

When she got married she was praised for shining a light on stuff available on the High St…L K Bennett, Hobbs etc.

  38. Casey02 says:

She looks great….but what did she do??? Another photo op and ZERO substance. The problem with Kate is that the only thing that will come from this meeting will be discussion on her clothes….Nothing else just a bunch of fluff!!!

    • Lorelei says:

Every single thing she does is a photo op.

    • Linda says:

      CASEY02
She gave an interesting speech actually. You can look it up on her Instagram page.

      • Casey20 says:

Linda: NO and I mean NO speech for Kate is posted!!!! Why the lie??

      • Enn says:

        Casey, there’s video on IG.

      • R says:

Casey she didn’t lie there is a video of her giving the speech on their Instagram story. Why accuse people of lying when you didn’t look?

Also she interacted with children and the people who run the charity.

It is the most that any of them do. Honestly they are there for publicity.

      • Casey20 says:

Wait……5 seconds of Kate fumbling and bumbling words is a speech…..how low can the bar be set for Kate….what an embarrassement for a future Queen Consort, well for anyone really….she needs to work on her public speaking. It’s a minimum expectation that she can articulate a meaningful message without fidgeting, constantly looking at notes and speaking some form of English that no one can understand….this you call a speech?????

      • Anon says:

When you can’t admit you were wrong….

      • PrincessK says:

Well it is a speech and so wrong to accuse people of lying.

      • Casey02 says:

        Ok I was wrong….Kate gave a speech…LOL

  39. Lucylee says:

Different day, same dress, different color

  40. Linda says:

I would wear this dress in a heartbeat

  41. JadedBrit says:

I wonder if anyone remembers the small town department stores of the 90s that hadn’t changed since the 1950s. And their mannequins. And the dresses draped on their mannequins, which in turn stood on plastic tiptoe, gazing vacant into the near distance.
I find her look worrying, frankly. She appears on autofunction.

  42. Ksweet says:

She loooks fine but that hunter green is fall/winter and looks out of place. Since it is often chilly in London this time of year, wouldn’t it make sense to have a few heavier frocks like this in a few bright, spring colors?

  43. Citresse says:

Is the Daily Mail angry at Kate??? I just saw the DM photos of Kate and not flattering at all…..yes, anyone can take a bad photo but most of what DM published could have been better.

  44. Katebush says:

She looks really nice here I feel like this is her work uniform she’s not trying to be fashion forward. It makes sense to me.

  45. Dark and Stormy says:

I hope Kate is a boss bitch behind closed doors and she’s just waiting for the right moment to let it all out. (One can hope)

  46. SJR says:

Will you just look at her tiny waist? Tiny!
I like the dress, and in a perfect world I would have hair just like hers.

  47. Casey20 says:

    One word for Kate…..Vanilla

  48. A says:

Kate definitely has a certain practical bend to her clothing choices. She’s evolved into her current style, and she’s certainly comfortable with it. As boring as it is, it is easily and recognizably her uniform. It checks all the boxes when it comes to being appropriate. You can’t go wrong with solid colours and long sleeves and a-line skirts and nude shoes, so it certainly has a broad enough appeal, and it will definitely stand the test of time in that it won’t become horribly dated in the way a lot of Diana’s clothes did. The worst thing you can say about it is that it’s boring, and I don’t think she sees that as a bad thing.

She was honestly never going to be that sort of person who experimented wildly with fashion as part of her public image. I don’t think she’s into that type of thing at all, at least not anymore maybe. I know from seeing pictures of her before her marriage that she was definitely more eclectic with her choices, but some of that stuff that suited her really well then wouldn’t translate that well given the position she’s in today. Or maybe she’s really taking a leaf out of the Queen’s book and starting to dress for the job she wants early, lol. (Even though the Queen/Angela Kelly is much more creative in their choices, given some of the prints she wears under her coat).

  49. Nicegirl says:

Love her less done hair look.

  50. Anare says:

In the last picture where Kate is stepping up on the curb, her hair immediately makes me think of Rose Hanbury or whatever is the name of William’s paramour. Hope that’s just my imagination.

  51. Karen says:

Sad lack of ability to contribute anything stylish.
Dress too short, too tight, too not natural looking cloth.
    Where is the scarf?
Was a time a lady would always have a scarf at a formal occasion, for good reasons.
    Costume jewellery?
There is business to be done and Kate M is a showcase for good business.
    New Dior collecction. New day.
