Jennifer Garner doesn’t want her kids to meet Ana de Armas ‘until the time is right’

BGUS_1909693_001
Yesterday I asked what Jennifer Garner thought of Ben Affleck’s near-daily PDA walks with his new much-younger girlfriend, Ana de Armas. Jen did a nice family walk of her own, complete with all her kids, the nanny, the dog and a cat in a stroller! It was super cute and it may have been unavoidable that the paparazzi were there. The paps are bored and camped out in that neighborhood waiting for Afflarmas especially. Plus they’ve been stalking the Garner-Afflecks for years. (It’s a flies to honey situation I think.) Soon after I published that, Garner’s go-to outlet, US Magazine, had a story about how Ana is not going to meet their kids anytime soon.

A source reveals exclusively in the new issue of Us Weekly that [Jennifer Garner], does not want her three children with [Ben Affleck] to meet [Ana de Armas] until the time is right.

“Ben is understanding,” the source tells Us. “[He] said he would work with Jennifer to prepare the kids for meeting [Ana].”

[From US Magazine]

In the video on Us’ site they add the detail that Jennifer is “supportive” and “happy” for Ben’s new relationship. Plus they say “Ben’s relationship with Ana is serious and he is already thinking about having kids with her. Ben loves children and loves being a dad. He would love to have kids with her one day.” How long has Ben even been with Ana?! Us Mag says in that video that they’ve only been together since early March. That was when we first heard about them too. Although they worked together in the fall they’re both so demonstrative, and Ben operates so quickly (narcissists do that), that I doubt they were serious for more than a month before that. I bet that Jen is just waiting it out to see if they’ll last. That’s what I would do. Plus, Ana looks younger than their nanny. I said it. And their dad cheated on their mom with their nanny! (Sure they were “taking a break” but still living together.) Did the kids even know about that? Did they wonder why their nanny had to leave so soon? They’re going to google it if they haven’t already.

These are new photos from yesterday of Ben and Ana doing their PDA pap stroll and Jennifer Garner and her kids taking a walk with their nanny and cat in a stroller. Their dog Birdie stayed at home this time. For those of you who wonder where Ben’s majestic German Shepherd has been, I’ve seen aerial photos of his mansion and he has a huge backyard. I bet that dog is super happy to be going on walks now though. I also assume he or she gets along well with Ana’s little dog. In videos on the photo agency’s subscriber site, you can see Ben’s dog walking slowly for Ana’s dog, like they’re looking out for each other. In those videos Ben seems kind of surley and takes out his phone a few times to take pictures of the paps.

Thanks to all of you yesterday who told me not to adopt a border collie unless I had a yard. I watched my friend’s beautiful border collie for two weeks before all this and I fell in love with her. (The dog, Mango, not my friend.) Mango is an older dog who is content with long walks, but my friend has a yard where Mango plays frisbee often. Once I convince my landlord to let me get one, I will consider a breed that’s more of a homebody.

The top picture is a nice picture of them.

    • Erinn says:

I was thinking the same – it’s the best he’s looked in a while, and she’s VERY pretty in a not fussy sort of way.

  2. brinibini says:

Doesn’t the major of LA want now people to wear masks when they are outside? How are Benana gonna smooch for the cameras now?!

    • ChillyWilly says:

Lol…I will die if tomorrow we get pics of them smooching through surgical masks. They are really making fools of themselves.

      • brinibini says:

Yeah, I would love those pictures as well!
But since Ben is also not really social distancing and posing with fans for photos, I don’t see him wearing a mask.

Of course the children know about the nanny.Even if Ben and Jennifer managed to keep it away from them the other kids at school probably told them. Which is why, cheating or not, you don’t sleep with your children’s nanny in the first place. They will learn about it and it could hurt them.
As for Ben and Ana, I know relationships grow faster in Hollywood but there is no reason to meet the kids after only a few weeks, when still in the honeymoon phase. I’m childless but the divorced parents I know usually wait for a while and make sure the relationship is serious before taking that step.

  4. Astrid says:

All this nanny talk reminds me of when Arnold The Terminator knocked up one of his household staff….

    • Mumbles says:

That whole situation skeeved me out. Makes me wonder if it was an abuse of power or rape. And apparently Maria treated the boy like family and would include him in family events, unknowingly (although the boy looks just like Arnold!). Which was sweet on her part but makes me feel bad that Arnold was playing her for a fool.

I cannot blame Garner for slowing the roll here. This seems like pure PR and will probably be shorter lived than the SNL producer. I was surprised to learn Ana was 31. She looks even younger.

  5. 123 says:

How long have they been together? For 5 minutes? Though for some reason, I’m feeling like this could turn into a long term thing. He looks sort of happy.

  6. Jerusha says:

    Cole Porter:
It was just one of those things
Just one of those crazy flings
One of those bells that now and then rings
    Just one of those things
It was just one of those nights
Just one of those fabulous flights
A trip to the moon on gossamer wings
    Just one of those things
If we’d thought a bit before the end of it
When we started painting the town
We’d have been aware that our love affair
Was too hot not to cool down
    So good-bye, dear, and amen
Here’s hoping we meet now and then
    It was great fun
But it was just one of those things

  7. Lightpurple says:

“Majestic” describes that magnificent doggie perfectly.

Kids don’t need to meet everyone Dad, or mom, get involved with until it’s seriously going to last for a while.

ETA I’m just here for that dog. I want to hug that dog.

  8. Ash says:

CB: Thanks for the reassurance yesterday about our obvious eternal youth 😉 And also thank you for today’s photo of Violet Affleck who – potentially due to the angle of the photo and where she’s standing, but who cares about that – now looks shorter than her mother. Further reinforcing the fact that we’re definitely not ancient.

    • Jerusha says:

In one of the smaller pics at the bottom Violet looks the same height as Jennifer. Anyway, at 14 doesn’t she still have a year or two of growing? She’ll be a tall girl.

      • Ash says:

Oh, don’t get me wrong, the girl is clearly going to tower over us all. This comment was just following up on one made yesterday where I reminisced about earlier photos of her being tiny, as she seems to have shot up over night 🙂

  9. bridget says:

They def know about Ana. She’s the reason they can’t spend time at Ben’s house right now. I’m sure they google Ben (oldest daughter definitely does) and have seen everything. If Ana is really knocked up then they need to meet her.
These dueling pap strolls seem competitive to me. Jen is like, “hey paps, don’t forget about me and the kids, we’re here too! look at meeeee”

    • Lady D says:

Jen can’t call the shots forever, as much as she might want to. Ben’s sober now and if he pushes it, he can get 50/50 from the courts and have the kids stay over at his place with him and Ana. Far better they continue working together to keep everyone, but mostly the kids happy. You never know, they might really like her.

    • Evie says:

Her career is starting, it would be a shot in her foot to get pregnant now.

      • bridget says:

Garner stans fake-worried about the state of Ana’s career, lol. She/it will be F.I.N.E. Actors with actual talent usually are. Anyway, she’s in her 30s so if she wants to have kids, she needs to be serious about the partners in her life. Not a moment to waste!

    • Chris says:

Ana ain’t no Meryl Streep, her career will definitely end after having a baby with this dumpster fire.

  10. Amelie says:

Did the kids ever meet Ben’s ex, the SNL writer? They were together for awhile but can’t remember any indication the kids ever met her.

As for what kind of dogs to adopt, I would suggest a small dog if you are going to be in an apartment. I grew up with a bichon frisé (they are similar looking to poodles) and while they can be high energy, they do mellow out around 3-4. They’re great dogs but they do need regular grooming sessions since they don’t shed. They also can be very stubborn, mine developed OCD with playing fetch to the point we had to hide the tennis balls in the house because he was constantly bringing them to us to play lol. We lived by some tennis courts so he was always finding stray tennis balls to bring home during walks.

One breed to avoid IMO is a French bulldog. They have so many health issues (especially related to breathing), can barely walk, and are so sensitive to temperature. Sorry to all the Frenchie fans out there.

    • Evie says:

No, they did not meet Shookus. Jen is right, but I don’t think it’s her decision, I think it’s an agreement she and Ben have about keeping their children away from the new flavor of the moment in his life.

    • Spicecake38 says:

Mini poodle owner here, she is energetic but loves to cuddle, smarter than I could ever imagine-easily house trained, understands words,LOVES to walk-she brings me her collar when we say *walkie*and if we say *sweater*she gets that too.
Rated second in intelligence behind border collie.

    • Cee says:

I’ve had both breeds and by far prefer bichon frise . My poodle was cranky, possessive, super smart and plagued with health issues. He wasn’t very active. I adored him. I now have a bichon and he is the best dog ever. He is playful, nice temper, super fast to house train, he is active and playful and so good with other animals – even the cat likes him. Love my Viggo. I left him at my parents’ house when mandatory quarantine began – I wouldn’t be able to take him for daily walks and they have a yard. Hope to see him soon enough.

    • minx says:

We’re on our second Australian Shepherd… Aussies are smart, beautiful and looove their families.

    • a says:

No, Ben was photographed once hiking with Lindsay and her daughter, and they stayed at his house when in LA. But I don’t think Lindsay ever met his kids

  11. LULU wang was robbed says:

    Get a Shiba Inu!
They’re popular apartment dogs in Japan, basically cat software running on dog hardware.

  12. Tiffany says:

I am seriously in love with that German Shepard.

  13. Barb says:

I hope these two have a baby. I am curious to see how that affects the status quo. Something tells me that the great-friends-and-coparents nonsense will finally go out the window.

    • Theo says:

Yes, but can you imagine Ben Affleck to deal with four or more children ? For JG who in reality is a single mother and her ex is an addict is more difficult to rely on him, to trust him and don’t worry too much about her children. I doubt he became a brand new man now. Four months before he was with another woman drinking and gambling.

    • a says:

Us Weekly are reporting that Jennifer and Ana have met and are “very friendly” so I think they’ll go the big, happy blended family route

  14. Jess says:

I’m loving these daily walks, but I still can’t believe people don’t think it’s just for PR? The everyday PDA strolls, interacting with the paps like it’s all a laugh, not to mention every publication seems to have an exclusive source feeding into the story. It seems so obvious to me, what am I missing!?

    • Jules says:

Lainey has an article with actual proof of a pap saying Ana called them!

      • Barb says:

Nah. That twitter had stuff about bin Laden still being alive, it was clearly some kind of Russian troll. Ana didn’t even have a phone on her the day in question.

      • Jules says:

@barb lol ah, ok, I didn’t look that much into it. But still, I do think these two are in cahoots with the paps.

      • Jess says:

He is actually a pap. He was taking shots of them yesterday too.

      • a says:

        he’s not a pap, he’s a teenager

    • zelda says:

I think it’s a real relationship and I think she’ll be Mrs. Affleck. The joy actually reaches Ben’s eyes for once and we all know he’s not a good actor. He’s always used the paps to promote his relationships. Both things can be true.

  15. Jules says:

The timing is obviously going to have to work around the timing of Ana’s pap strolls.

  16. Nicole says:

Just an aside: Violet is huge! The kids are getting so big.

  17. Chris says:

Before allowing Ana to meet the kids, Jen will first have to explain them what mid life crisis means so they can be cool with daddy dearest’s new love. Ben better pray Ana doesn’t get cast with some well connected hunk anytime soon otherwise his days are numbered.

  18. MangoAngel says:

Schnauzers are awesome dogs for homebodies. We lost our little guy in January, to old age, and he was easily the sweetest little guy with the most entertaining personality ever. And he (like pretty much all schnauzers) lived nothing more than snuggling on the sofa watching tv.

    • Vanessa says:

I lost my mini schnauzer Delilah in December, just shy if her 12th birthday. She was an active lady right up to her last days and demanded two walks a day (one included going jogging with my dad)

  19. Christina says:

Ana reminds me of Matt Damon’s wife Luciana.

  20. Andrea says:

I think Celebitchy said she has a house, not an apartment. She just doesn’t have a big yard. Honestly almost any breed, including larger breeds, can be fine for someone without a big yard as long as the dog is on the mellow side and you are committed to taking them for walks/to the dog park. It is really just border collies and any herding breed in particular that need tons of exercise and stimulation. If you adore border collies and have your heart set on one, just do some reading about them, their temperament and energy level, and make sure you are committed to their physical and mental needs. 😊

  21. Amber says:

The last thing he should be thinking about is a baby right now.

  22. L4frimaire says:

I get the feeling we’re supposed to feel sorry for Jennifer Garner, but something about her just grates on my nerves. Like she wears the wronged, weary ex-wife mantle with pride. Like performative wholesomeness. Affleck is a thirsty mess but find both him and Jen annoying. We need are stronger lockdown.

  23. Jaded says:

I’m all for the cat in the stroller.

  24. Vanessa says:

Italian greyhounds are great house doggos!!

  25. Summer says:

I love that Violet is going to be tall. Welcome to the tall crowd pretty girl! I’m amused by the whether this is PR or not debate. I like Ben and Jennifer. I’ve read your articles about Ben for years and I think we can all agree that we want him to keep getting better. We want that for ourselves too. I think there is this certain worry about Ben. I think it’s great if he’s in love, but his kids and he, himself need to come first. I liked Ana a lot in ‘Knives Out’. Don’t move too quickly you two! Let it flow…

  26. a says:

    He looks really happy

  27. HELEN says:

it’s just classic ben that he was extremely wary of pap pics and red carpet appearances with jg, so much so that she really only joined him on red carpets during the argo oscar lap and when he needed to play happy families via pap strolls. he never attended any of her premieres in a meaningful way. the mother of his children!

speaking of children, if he’s counting on a second “batch” of his kids to redeem himself for his failings with his existing kids… ouf. take care of and appreciate *the kids you already have*, benjamin.

lol at the reverse papping of photogs – is he recording because they didn’t show up on the time they agreed on and he was implying he’d call their boss with evidence to prove it, or something? because we know you already violated your own privacy with the strolls, so what game are you playing at?

    • a says:

It was Jennifer’s choice not to take Ben to events as her date. He brought her as his date to events long before Argo so it’s not like he was ashamed of her.

Jen in 2013: “It’s a very conscious decision. Sometimes it’s a pain because my heels are so high and it would be nice to have [Ben’s] arm. And he’s such a great date! But it can be too much. I think especially for women, they can really lose their identity and just become the ‘wife of.’
